The vast majority of people in Chicagoland live in suburbs, which range from very densely populated (more so than Chicago) to sprawling and spread out. The near west along BNSF line often rate tops due to schools, proximity to both airports, city and variety of houses, walkable towns, etc. Places like Western Springs, La Grange, Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills. Naperville is nice but super far away from city, airports, etc. Oak Park and River Forest have crazy high taxes, way more than others.
Evanston and Hinsdale!
Peter, I am a committed city guy but this is a good list. I'd add Evanston on top and Park Ridge and Willmette but those fit with my wants. We always joked about Naperville back in the day with my friends from there (Naper-Thrill per my those friends) but, if you are a couple with kids, you really can't find a much better place than Naperville.
Evanston. But Naperville, Oak Brook, and Hinsdale are nice too.
Evanston is great. Very similar to Oak Park in terms of being a suburb with an urban feel.
If you got a million bucks it’s great
What do you think is the best Chicago suburb?

False. There is no good suburb.
