    Rogers Park is transit rich close to the lake with easy EXPRESS access to downtown Chicago and Evanston. Loyola AND northwestern sandwich the neighborhood It is ridiculously undervalued.

    Avondale. Hermosa. Portage Park. Belmont Cragin. All great and underrated Northwest side neighborhoods. Don’t think Uptown is necessarily underrated just a bit sketchy still. People are cautious. Can’t blame them. Old Irving has actually been on the radar for many but might be getting a bit too late to buy some real estate as the prices have been skyrocketing the past few years for its proximity to Lakeview. Good picks though.

      How safe is Bronzeville? I'm a Detroiter thinking of moving to the Chicago area.

    • @alexzais1935
      @alexzais1935 3 месяца назад +1

      @@RobertSpiller Hey Robert. Bronzeville is actually on the borderline between semi-safe and semi-not safe. Not the worst place in the city but crime is definitely present. It’s located on the Southside of the city so shouldn’t be surprising to anyone. I’ll tell you one thing though. It’s recently rumored to be gentrifying with wealthy middle class and upper middle class black individuals just like the neighboring area of Hyde Park already is and has been. Also where Obama lived for several years as he was a professor at the University of Chicago there. If I’m correct, a lot of the wealthy black population from Hyde Park are leaving and settling in Bronzeville for the cheaper estate and rent. If you’re thinking about jumping ship from Detroit I would do so rather sooner than later before an all out mass gentrification happens and the costs start skyrocketing in Bronzeville too.

    People overlook Rogers Park because it sucks, in addition to being too far north. Uptown also sucks. These neighborhoods are high crime, the worst two neighborhoods on the north side. Uptown also has the misfortune of bein overrun with homeless crazy people, yet still expensive. Easily one of worst deals in the city.

      I've been living in Roger Park for 8 years. My friends and I have never had any issues besides the very occasional homeless yelling at us. And it's incredibly affordable compared to other neighborhoods. Sure, it's far from the loop, but after Covid, I barely have to commute to the loop anymore.

    Humboldt Park is one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the city. Regular shootouts and high crime. Bronzeville is also high crime and they're trying their darndest to start gentrifying it but it's nowhere near safe enough to recommend to anyone. My friend moved to Humboldt Park two years ago against my urging her not too. She wanted to be close to Wicker Park. She didn't even finish her lease out. Broke her lease after 6 months. She was shot at while walking her dog late at night. When she went to the community Facebook to let everyone know to be careful, they told her she shouldn't have been out at night! WTF? You can't even take your dog to pee once the sun goes down apparrently. There were regular shootings and yellow police tape. I am baffled that you'd recommend Humboldt Park to even your worst enemy.

    • @lvandal6603

      Bronzeville is actually safer than Humboldt park. Ive been living there going on 5 years, amazing community

    • @Hello_Haven

      I was robbed in Bronzeville just a year ago going to the Beauty Supply store. I'm sorry but Bronzeville isn't a neighborhood I'd recommend right now. Perhaps in another five years. Is it safer than Humboldt Park? Considering Humboldt is one of the most dangerous neighborhoods then yeah it probably is.
      But safe enough for me to recommend to someone moving to Chicago who isn't familiar with the city (which is who this video caters to)? Absolutely not. For Underrated Chicago neighborhoods I'd recommend Avondale, Norwood Park, Old Irving, Irving, Ravenswood, Lincoln Square, and Albany Park. These neighborhoods provide a balance of affordability and safety for a newcomer to Chicago.
      That said, they are trying hard to gentrify Bronzeville. My friend is a nurse over at Uof Chicago Hospital and they offered her $25K towards a downpayment to purchase a home in Bronzeville. She passed! and that's saying a lot! If the neighborhood was desireable they would not be offering nurses free money to buy homes there. And nurses wouldn't be turning down free money!
      I don't have a dog in the race anymore. I moved to another state. You guys can keep the cold and the illegals. I'm good off that. But for anyone who is a newcomer to Chicago I'm not going to sit by and allow someone to bamboozle them into moving to Humboldt Park or Bronzeville. Sorry. There are much safer, equally affodable areas, like the ones I mentioned. Take care!
