      I have lived in the city and far south , west and northwest suburbs and I have always loved it. I live in Park Ridge but love Mount Prospect.

      Well Done, young Man! Thorough, detailed information about each town, and I am glad that you noted the distance to Chicago from each one, and that you opted what made them qualify to be towns of interest for people wanting to raise a family outside Chicago. Thanks! And YES! He does look like Peter Parker!

    I moved to Winfield 2 years ago and love it because it's between larger towns but removed from the main thoroughfares and is very quiet, has great parks and excellent bike paths and forest preserves. I found out that just in the section of Dupage County where Winfield is located there are 16,000 acres of forest preserve. My community is surrounded by preserves on 3 sides and they extend north, connecting to one another, for miles into the other towns. A nice townhome here costs close to 400k, though.

    Bartlett is Nice grandparents lived there but not much going on. I went to school in lombard, and homes are overpriced for small homes. I wouldn't live anywhere east of route 59 way to many people. I'm Batavia, which is fantastic if add St charles, Geneva,Sugar Grove, Elburn that would round out My top 5.

    Peacefulness seems a weird thing to aspire to.
    I would go for sense of community, meaning people are investing in the social infrastructure and trying to make things better.

    I am keeping my suburb a secret because I don’t want it to be overwhelmed by dense housing. We do not have the amenities of towns mentioned but we are surrounded by towns that have such amenities and our taxes are lower without a park district. We have enough basic shopping and no train stop so no push to develop they type of housing planners want to put in around such transportation. Not everyone wants to live in a typical suburb.

    Yo man what about Des Plaines????? You totally missed this town. It has a downtown, closer to expressway and trains, closer to airport , great schools affordable houses for the most part if you get a fixer upper. Horrible list

    Why did the Pollocks move out of Mt Prospect, they heard it was going to erupt. I am prejudice, I am a Lake /McHenry County fan I really love Mundelein / Libertyville area as well as Barrington. I was Blessed to have worked with Jack Nicklaus and Robert Sierra build Wynstone Gold and Country Club. Lake Zurich is also another town, I really like.

    EDIT: Interesting. There's a 12/3/2001 Report "Public Health Assessment" by Illinois Dept of Public Health for Argonne Area 317 in Lemont.

    Bartlett is a hidden gem, but District U46 is terrible and if you have special need kids forget getting services for them in the district. Palatine also awesome, more expensive than Bartlett but your special needs kids get great service-much better school district and community support for people with special needs.

    • @erdrick22
      @erdrick22 2 месяца назад

      What would you know about U46? It sounds like you are elsewhere. Is this outdated knowledge from 10 years ago?

    • @karen4water
      @karen4water 2 месяца назад

      @@erdrick22 nope, quite current experience and knowledge. If you have special needs kids and they need services in District U46, you will likely need a lawyer and good luck finding a lawyer to take on your case. They don't like to work with the district because they don't win. Sorry, it's truth, ask some parents who have special needs kids in the district and they will tell you how hard of a fight it is. Other nearby districts are much better, no fighting needed and you don't get verbally abused during IEPs. If your kids are fine, then you are good. Or if you homeschool and your kids are not in need of services, all is well. I'm not hating, I'm just telling truth. Believe me, I wish it otherwise. When you are looking for a home and you know your kids need services, do your research. Hang out in a neighborhood park ask parents-they will tell you. We knew it would be a battle in U46 but didn't know it would be this bad.
