The time I had to dispute the appeal I ended up finding a video of the recording session of the piece and references of the license owner stating it was public domain. I have also tried using AI music tracks I made to cover up copyrighted music, but it looks like the record companies are coming after that next.
We have exactly the same question. We film carnivals, parades, street parties. It is impossible to publish a meaningful video of the event without including the original audio which we have no control over. We are recording events officially recognised as being of international touristic importance. This is cleary a case of fair use but some videos have ten or more copyright claims on them. We are eligible to monitize the channel but have refrained form doing so at the moment. How should we proceed?

I had several copyright claims from a company in South America when my grandmother played her piano and sang old public domain gospel hymns on my channel. I disputed every one of the claims, and won the disputes, but haven't bothered to use any kind of music since.
I have heard of this. The company claims ownership of the basic melody of most gospel songs. Folks who post gospel videos run across this pretty much every time they post a video.
I upload original classical piano performances. I used to get a copyright claim for everything I upload because RUclips bots can’t tell the difference between one artist’s performance of the same piece from a performance by another artist of the same work. I have noticed the number of those notifications has dropped to almost nothing now. I am not sure what changed. Perhaps the bots are becoming classical music savvy and can identify different performances. However, in the past I solved the problem by disputing claims as original content pointing to the video of me playing the piece as evidence of my original performance, and the claims would be removed within a few days.
Hi! I am using CAPCUT licensed music in many of my videos, so should I simply consider that the musical artists are making copyright claims unjustified, if they authorize their work to CAPCUT?
I'm having a similar problem with Clipchamp. I think it is mishandling of someone's copyright by third party websites that the apps are using. In the end, I stopped using music from editing apps because I don't trust that they've asked permission from the musicians or recording companies themselves but took a shortcut to third parties. That is my best guess when looking into it.
12:13 a question about that RUclips says that when this Copyright Match Tool found new matches in RUclips Studio they will send bell notifications but i don't receive any notifications while the Tool is finding matches alot of times I don't understand what happened Cau ya help me please 🙏 😢 Thanks 😊
Maybe check your notifications are setup correctly to receive copyright matches. Otherwise, contact YT support through the studio dashboard (if you are monetized).
You have no idea how perfect this videos timing is. One of my videos in getting super popular, but it got copyright claimed. I'll have to use these tips.
We film carnivals, festivals and parades, nightlife etc. We live in major tourist destination with over 5 million visitors per year. The street parades can have for example 100 floats with huge sound systems. Many of these events are officially recognised as events of international touristic importance. The people at the event which we are filming are reacting to the music, but we have no control over the music being played. Likewise it is not possible to publish a meaningful video of the event without the background sound because the audience are dancing to it, singing along etc. Having read all the 'best practice' guidelines that even RUclips direct us towards, our channel comes under the category of journalism. Fair use says that the sound recorded during the events is incidental and accidental as we have no control over it, nor are we directing or requesting the DJs play any particular song. The topic and reason of our videos is to promote the actual event we are recording. We haven't monitized the channel yet though we are eligible to do so. Many of our videos have copyright claims that say they have no effect on the channel. In some cases there may be 10 or more claims on one video. If we find we can't monitize a video and want to be paid for the hard work we put in to making it (three camera operators working on most of them) then do we have to dispute every single claim on a video individually or can we just claim fair use on the video overall due to journalistic exemption?
Nice to see some likes, but where to find advice how to make sure we are paid by RUclips for our videos? After all we are the ones doing the hard work here and RUclips run ads on our original content so I assume they are getting paid.
well said: "it´s not perfect at all" ... From the view of a content creator: I fully produce my own material (reviews, diy-stuff, darts tipps) and found a channel, that uses parts of my content out of context and totally wrong messages. I couldn´t contact the other channel, because there was no mail, no adress and he deleted my comment directly and banned me of his channel. So i tried to claim my content and RUclips not only gave the other channel my name and channelname, so that he knew it was me. RUclips simply said "this is fair use" and gave ME a warning, that they will strike my channel if I go on with claims they decide for the other party. That said: since then the other channel insults me personally and pretty regularly for more than 12 months now and still uses my content as he wants to.
The most important thing is to always have proof that you have a license, or had one at the time you were using it. Everything else is just details, and you'll get that cleared, my friend 😉
A lot of the time that is not enough. For instance I had written permission to use someone photographs in an explanation video. However the video was still strciked by someone with multiple different names and was using one of my university friends images. he (assumingly) was placing a claim on the beauty of the photograph creator who me and the photograph creator had no idea who they were nor wanted the claim. The Copyright algorithm is great but it is also open to mass abuse. Even with evidence to counter the the fake copyright strikers claim and with RUclips on Twitter getting involved. it was not enough for a computer to decide (literally no one on the copyright at RUclips looked at the evidence). I had to then re upload the video with the identity of the Photographs blued something that the photograph creator was as she wanted her story told without censorship.
@@TrendlineProject I was going to make a video about it but after seeing similar content from other creators and realising I would be posting something outside of my niche I just thought what would be the point. A minority might see it and it would nit change anything.
The one i get really frustrated with is I have paid for licenses to use clips of music and yet 2 or 3 different people will claim copyright on it even on RUclipss own music for creators and we are expected to remove it. If its not meant for content creators use then why have they added it to programs we pay for or why is RUclips themselves allowing us to use the music when people are being copyrighted for it. It is incredibly frustrating for many people especially smaller channels and it appears to happen more the closer they are to monetization or if it is just after. It is almost like a spite attack by trolls. I've even had one where the person who made the original claim was not the person cited when I put in the appeal with the license information and it was STILL turned down.

If a channel produced 4 separate video tutorials with all original content… later makes a condensed montage into a new highlights video would that be ineligible reused content ???? Thanks to anyone who responds
There are 2 channels who reused our videos, downloaded, then uploaded them, one replacing the live audio with a vinyl recording and RUclips tells us that we reused their videos, apparently the AI and the person double checking cant read dates.

Okay you’ve convinced me. I was just going to make my channel an art journal but now I’m going to plan for some educational videos as well as I have some ideas that I’ve been bouncing around in my head. Btw if anyone is wondering I do not intend to teach art on my channel. That’s been overdone and at this point in art side of RUclips there are so many people selling shovels that it’s hard to see the actual mines.
I clicked on some of those before and I thought it was okay just to leave them alone but it looks like I'm going to have to watch your video all the way here and finish watching it and see what I need to do
Thanks for this information!!! I do have a question. Regarding “Reused Content.” Sometimes I like to publish both a “full version”of a video for those who want all the details and then publish another version that has been edited down with less details. Is using my own published content to create a shorter version from it a violation?
I got a copyright claim from a random anime opening channel but i don't even use any song it's in the game it's the main theme of game how do I remove it
For videos with over 100k views you can't even edit it to remove the copyright material. I have a joint account with my sister where we make fanvids/AMVs/crackvids and we got a copyright claim for a 17 second song clip that completely blocked one of our crackvids. The video had over 100k views so we couldn't do anything to remove that part and it had been up for over 5 years before they claimed and blocked our video. We contested the claim and they rejected it, but luckily they modified the terms so that it was only blocked in certain regions and now it's back up. RUclips should at the very least allow editing to fix copyright issues regardless of the view count.
What frustrates me is when you download music from a Royalty Free website like pixabay and a 3rd party on behalf of the owner hits you with a copyright claim. I use a certain song on one of my youtube channels in the intro so I get a claim on every video I upload. If a song is on any Royalty Free website it should be intelligible for copyright claim at any time on RUclips. I appreciate RUclips working with creators to protect their original content and I applaud that. However, I think some adjustment still needs made and if any song is found to be on a Royalty Free site RUclips needs to make it ineligible from copyright claim.
as someone who makes videos in my niche, i get a lot of copyright claims and i mute the copyrighted sounds. however i don't know if my content is considered fair use. i hope i don't get rejected when aplying for the ypp
One time, one of my favorite RUclipsrs got false copyright claims from a channel who was banned from a game for cheating that the youtuber used to post videos of, so they would try to get channels that made vids on that game taken down. Couple days later, the youtuber who got false copyright claims had their channel taken down, later that day they got back up, and I just checked, and the youtuber who gave the false copyright claims got their channel deleted.
I don't get copyright claims but if I use music from Share Factory Studio over the top of game play videos I get copyright issues. They say it's not a "copyright strike" so I don't bother doing anything. If my channel gets bigger I'll hire someone to do that tedious stuff for me, that's the dream.

As someone who has faced both ends of the copyright/strike section I find it incredibly infuriating. When some one reuses large chunks of your original video and you cannot take money from it but only strike them (something that IMO limits free speech). Also the one occasional I was illegally striked by someone with multiple names using an image of one of my university friends supposedly someone else (how on earth is that allowed). Even when the image creator had not only given me permission to use the images but also claimed that the copyright striker was nothing to do with them and actively tried working with me to counter the strike. RUclips atm are probably the best at representing copyright holder and protecting their rights (which is a must). However it also does not mean the system is perfect. The whole system is open to abuse, and they are countless examples including MR Beast where the system was abused . If I really wanted to I could create a bunch of random accounts and strike a number of Vid IQ channel of some one else and probably get away with it due to the lack of human moderation, and the fact I would have the final say (judge and jury). Im not a law expert and don't pretend to be. But What there needs is slight adaptation in policy. Checks and balances to make sure that only legal companies and relevant individuals can claim on breath of someone. When Escalation happens there needs to be human moderation something in my case would had easily solve the claimant as being a fraud, and finally for governments and authorities holding RUclips to account to avoid the high profile cases like 'ObbyRaidz' and the 'fat rat' incidents.
You honestly should only use the "remove song" feature. No risks, no problems, no big affect on your video. Gets back the monetisation, and you will get money, never give up 🚩
I had this happen with one of my most recent videos. Got an automatic claim from an artist for using their music. Problem is, I didn't use their music. I used a sound clip from a 23 year old video game. The artist that RUclips flagged as a copyright, sampled that same video games sound clip in their song. I'm disputing it hard, because if anyone is going to file a claim, i want it to be the person that actually made the original track.
i want a way to report false positives or blatantly fraudulent claims. video game music and sounds are constantly flagged as being other things. most often by people gaming the system. and just today i woke up to a notice that footage (most likely the audio somehow) from gameplay of Fallout 2 is somehow similar to some random episode of an ancient WB show (birds of prey). the video is blocked with no recourse available
@@vidIQ i cannot rightfully claim to own or have a license for any audio associated with fallout 2 (or the birds of prey tv show that is being falsely being detected in my example). it definitely isn't public domain. fair use? debatable, i suppose. but i'd rather not have to debate that in a united states court room, or give away personal info to someone who could be simply pretending to be (or work for) a rights holder. especially when it's the case that if any human being was involved in the process it would be blatantly obvious that one thing is not another thing. i'd rather lose a single stream than my whole channel over some nonsense no one wants to deal with
This whole copyright "claim" issue is ridiculous. I get a "copyright" on some of my videos even when I give full, complete credit information for the music in my description box. I never get a strike, only a claim. I think RUclips is trying to force people to use the music from their library. That's okay if the music is not especially pertinent but only for background purposes. But when the music is pertinent to the content, I think it's coercive and I'm going to leave the music in the video with credit info as I've been doing. I'm not going to waste my time when I'm following RUclips's own guidelines.
I have used epidemic sound songs and gotten “copyright- but user allows songs to be used on RUclips”. I’m not monetized yet so I don’t know how it affects me.
Pardon me but I have reached minimum monetisation requirements but YT tells me I need to build channel history. I have not had any channel strikes... how do I go about this

Hello Fellow RUclipsrs ,i have a question Do movie clip/trailer channels get monetized ,because when i tried to upload movie trailer RUclips says Copyrighted content cannot be monetized .Please help
i did not get monetized because RUclips felt i had reused content. My show is a paranormal talk show and a lot of the guests I have on are making the rounds of other shows.

RUclips says that when this Copyright Match Tool found new matches in RUclips Studio they will send bell notifications but i don't receive any notifications while the Tool is finding matches alot of times

Maybe check your notifications are setup correctly to receive copyright matches. Otherwise, contact YT support through the studio dashboard (if you are monetized).
@@vidIQ where do I check this?
Well-done. I like your contents here.
Can i use the fair use option for dubbed movies and tv series?
@@ImmersiveSportsScience This is mad
@@TrendlineProject I was going to make a video about it but after seeing similar content from other creators and realising I would be posting something outside of my niche I just thought what would be the point. A minority might see it and it would nit change anything.

How do you check if someone else's RUclips video is copyrighted????
I’m way too familiar with this on my Supernanny reaction channel 😆
Great explanation!
Thank you for watching!
Ilmu yang sangat penting untuk dilakukan
The one i get really frustrated with is I have paid for licenses to use clips of music and yet 2 or 3 different people will claim copyright on it even on RUclipss own music for creators and we are expected to remove it. If its not meant for content creators use then why have they added it to programs we pay for or why is RUclips themselves allowing us to use the music when people are being copyrighted for it. It is incredibly frustrating for many people especially smaller channels and it appears to happen more the closer they are to monetization or if it is just after. It is almost like a spite attack by trolls.
I've even had one where the person who made the original claim was not the person cited when I put in the appeal with the license information and it was STILL turned down.
i got wrongly copyright claimed. I made indian national anthem (its in public domain btw) i got claimed to some random songwriters . should i dispute?

I heard that a lots of people who makes music get copyright claims on their music. Sometimes even big music companies (upload services) are behind those false claims. But they win in the end. How to prevent that?
Do they get notified a sound has been erased?
If a channel produced 4 separate video tutorials with all original content… later makes a condensed montage into a new highlights video would that be ineligible reused content ???? Thanks to anyone who responds
This would be fine, you're re-purposing your own content into a new format.
@@vidIQ great 😊
Rob sir what if certain part of the thumbnail is copied and used will it create any problem
There are 2 channels who reused our videos, downloaded, then uploaded them, one replacing the live audio with a vinyl recording and RUclips tells us that we reused their videos, apparently the AI and the person double checking cant read dates.
I just my first claim and didn't know what it ment😂. Perfect timing

This is AI response to the question “Can a copyright holder reserve the right to display their content on the internet with interactive features?”
>Yes, a copyright holder can reserve the right to display their content on the internet with interactive features, such as user comments and likes, while restricting others from doing so without permission.
>
>When a copyright holder licenses their work, they can specify the terms and conditions under which the work can be used, including whether it can be displayed with interactive features. If someone else displays the work without permission, or without adhering to the specified terms, they may be infringing on the copyright holder's exclusive rights.
>
>In the United States, for example, the Copyright Act of 1976 gives copyright holders the exclusive right to display their work publicly, including the right to determine how and in what context their work is displayed. This includes the right to decide whether their work is displayed with interactive features or not.
>
>It's worth noting that copyright laws vary by country, so the specifics of what rights are reserved by the copyright holder and what constitutes infringement may differ depending on the jurisdiction. If you have specific questions or concerns about copyright law, it's always a good idea to consult with a qualified legal professional.

Does it affect gameplay channels that literally share their gameplay? And what happens to channels that show gameplay shorts?
Thanks for this information!!! I do have a question. Regarding “Reused Content.”
Sometimes I like to publish both a “full version”of a video for those who want all the details and then publish another version that has been edited down with less details. Is using my own published content to create a shorter version from it a violation?
@ExpatInterview No it isn't.
I got a copyright claim from a random anime opening channel but i don't even use any song it's in the game it's the main theme of game how do I remove it
As shown in this video, you have options on how to remove it.
@@vidIQ thanks
Did I do it wrong? 9:45
Hi, could you make a video on how to gain access to Content ID?
What frustrates me is when you download music from a Royalty Free website like pixabay and a 3rd party on behalf of the owner hits you with a copyright claim. I use a certain song on one of my youtube channels in the intro so I get a claim on every video I upload. If a song is on any Royalty Free website it should be intelligible for copyright claim at any time on RUclips. I appreciate RUclips working with creators to protect their original content and I applaud that. However, I think some adjustment still needs made and if any song is found to be on a Royalty Free site RUclips needs to make it ineligible from copyright claim.
How do you know it's royalty free just because it says it on a website. Best advice here is to stick to music from the YT library
I know because it does say so on the site and they have cleared the claim on well over 15 videos.
Every young youtuber watching this will grow 2024🫡🥰

One time, one of my favorite RUclipsrs got false copyright claims from a channel who was banned from a game for cheating that the youtuber used to post videos of, so they would try to get channels that made vids on that game taken down. Couple days later, the youtuber who got false copyright claims had their channel taken down, later that day they got back up, and I just checked, and the youtuber who gave the false copyright claims got their channel deleted.
Is there now (or was there ever) an option to blur out or place a black box over portions of a video’s visuals to remove a claim?
Thank you Mr 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍👍
I don't get copyright claims but if I use music from Share Factory Studio over the top of game play videos I get copyright issues. They say it's not a "copyright strike" so I don't bother doing anything. If my channel gets bigger I'll hire someone to do that tedious stuff for me, that's the dream.

Great information. Thank you!
I had used music with commercial rights, and content from public places such as pixabay & utube and I keep getting copyrights notification, even strikes; wrongly, even for the music does not fall within copyright and it is not the music claimed by that artist. What to do in this case?
I uploaded a short video with music and it was copyrighted. Do we get copyright for the music in the shorts? 🤔🧐☹️
Brother, I have a question that if I delete the blocked and copyrighted video, then the copyright will be removed and there will be no effect on the channel. Please sir, please tell me about this.
hiya ive had a copyright claim on my uncharted 2 gameplay by Hexacorp (music publishing) and only 1 video out of the many uncharted 2 gameplay videos has been copyright claim can someone help me out please
what about when i subscribe to the music i use in my youtube channel but i get copyright sometimes.. not many.. but i pay for the license which im current with my license... i dispute it but so far i didn't hear nothing back...
Gets back the monetisation, and you will get money, never give up 🚩
Does all this apply to remixing shorts?
Mannnn i be getting them on my channel!!! Thanks 😊😊
3:41 it becomes a big problem when its constantly one Country (for me Russia)
i want a way to report false positives or blatantly fraudulent claims. video game music and sounds are constantly flagged as being other things. most often by people gaming the system. and just today i woke up to a notice that footage (most likely the audio somehow) from gameplay of Fallout 2 is somehow similar to some random episode of an ancient WB show (birds of prey). the video is blocked with no recourse available
Well, as shown in the video, you can dispute it if you think these are false positives.
@@vidIQ i cannot rightfully claim to own or have a license for any audio associated with fallout 2 (or the birds of prey tv show that is being falsely being detected in my example). it definitely isn't public domain. fair use? debatable, i suppose. but i'd rather not have to debate that in a united states court room, or give away personal info to someone who could be simply pretending to be (or work for) a rights holder. especially when it's the case that if any human being was involved in the process it would be blatantly obvious that one thing is not another thing. i'd rather lose a single stream than my whole channel over some nonsense no one wants to deal with
Thanks for the info!
It is useful video
I have a claim but it's MY MUSIC. I've heard of this before... Don't know what to do yet
I have used epidemic sound songs and gotten “copyright- but user allows songs to be used on RUclips”. I’m not monetized yet so I don’t know how it affects me.

So do shorts have copyright? I’m not sure
Pardon me but I have reached minimum monetisation requirements but YT tells me I need to build channel history.

What do you print on your 3d printer?
i did not get monetized because RUclips felt i had reused content. My show is a paranormal talk show and a lot of the guests I have on are making the rounds of other shows. I am a journalist in real life. I ask them questions and they answer. i am careful about copying anyone's content. The show is broadcast live. I don't know what to do. I guess ill have to find funding elsewhere.
