This is NO disrespect to our transatlantic quilting u tubers (love Jenny Doan et al to bits) but it's so nice to hear an English accent on-line, especially a Northern one. I've just discovered your channel and I am in love with it already. Your easy going style suits me fine, as I'm a bit of a 'gonzo quilter' with an aversion to precision work - though I am quite fussy about the end result. Only problem - I've spent an entire afternoon drooling over your tutorials. But time well spent! You've given me the boost I need for the next few projects.
Kate: I am a long time quilter who has become disabled to the point that even my arms hurt to move. However, watching you create and your calming voice start my day with such a positive mood. You motivate me to push through the pain and get into my fabrics and find something to sew and quilt. God bless you for being my positive motivation and allowing me to feel as if I am in your home with you being in a happy place. I love to start my day with you.
Bless you, I'm so glad that you still try & do what you love, it's so important to our mental wellbeing. I also love watching & listening to Kate & I make it a routine to do so every day. That lime green sofa must run the length of the planet ☺️. Happy sewing 🪡🧵❤️
At first the colors I thought...yuk...but you were right , who doesn’t like green and pink! Nice tutorial..easily explained.I plan to make one soon.thank you!
OMG my heart feels so joyous! Just watching the video of my cushion being made. I had no idea the heart was inside - I have just found it!!!! I love , love ,love the care and skill and love that has gone into this. I have it in my glass studio, so am using it everyday. I am very, very lucky!!! Thanks Kate xxx
Hello Phillipa: I enjoyed the glass class that Kate did with you👏👏👏 I’m just sooooo excited about getting to purchase a 2020 Christmas box😀😀😀. I just find it so interesting how God blesses us with different gifts and talents. Thank you for sharing yours. It was so special to see the reaction on your face and the hug of your cushion. Until next time Gods blessings ❤️😀
Ha ha! glad you like it Phillipa! I love my fused glass - it is shining in the window as I work! Folk are receiving their boxes! and loving your glass! xxxxxxx
Love love love TLHH and watching you and Anna together is so lovely. Keep it up ladies you are bringing us so much joy. Its like a little haven or safe space for us. Thank you 😊 ❤ xx
Hi Kate, I watch you tube on my Roku and you came up on the playlist. I am not a quilter, but the name of your videos intrigued me. So I am now binge watching your videos! I enjoy your talking as much as your sewing. I had never heard of the place you liveand you probably haven't heard of mine. I live in Elizabethton, Tennessee in the USA. I had to recently retire due to illness. I was a registered nurse for 34 years I don't sleep much so I watch videos and I look forward to seeing you each week, Thank you for your videos!
Beautiful video. I hand stitched a T-Shirt twin size quilt all by hand. Fought with sewing machine for 5 minutes then said heck with all this stress. So relaxing to hand stitch I'd say. Love your video.
I have been quilting for 50 years. Made many log cabins. Never heard that rule of add next strip to the “3” side. Amazing. Never too old to learn. No more mistakes and ripping for me. ❤️
Love my vintage machines, no computers to go fooy. I have a 1957 singer slant 501a that my mother bought new for $300ish. It runs like a charm and will go through any weight. I use it all the time and it always brings back memories of my mom. When I was too young to use the power pedal my dad (an engineer) rigged up a crank for me made of coat hanger wire and a big spool.
I recently found your channel, and I absolutely love it. I am pretty new to quilting, just started an EPP quilt for my bed and like you I absolutely love the hand stitching, I find it’s so calming just like crochet and knitting, which I also do. Watching you is like being a friend in your house and it’s so wonderful, thank you for making the Internet a lovely warm, cozy home.
Watching from Glide Oregon USA. I love your videos. It is all smokey here from all of the wildfires so I am inside with my sewing - working on some mindless blocks. Thank you! I told my daughter, who is a weavr when she is not busy being a Veterinary Dentist, but has started dabbling in EPP, about you and she needs to watch you n RUclips. Barbara
What a precious gift to your friend & the lovely heart ❤️ inside. She will treasure it I’m sure Thank you for making it look so easy mark of a good seamstress 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks Norma for the lovely visit 😻. The cushion is so pretty Kate! I really enjoyed this episode even though I am late viewing it. Take care and stay safe. Love from Alabama 😷

My friend and I took a road trip and visited Jordan’s Fabrics in Grants Pass Oregon and other quilt shops along the way. Jordan’s shop is a really nice place. Tons of fabric and customer service is the best.

TRULY LOVELY!!! Last year my grandson came for a summer vacation. He wanted to learn how to sew. So he went through my stash, picked his fabric and I explained how to go about it. He did a great job of following instructions. Unknowns to him, I had hand stitched a swatch of fabric to the pillow form with a tender message of love of the great time we had together. Needless to say, he was surprised of the find, when it was time to wash the cover. ENJOY your videos.

I'm in a hot cocoa and snuggle under a quilt on the LGS kinda mood today, LGS Mates! *passes around the cocoa and marshmallows!*. Kate, this is absolutely gorgeous! I love the log cabin blocks. I've been making scrappy log cabin blocks for bowl cozies recently, I super duper dig them! And the heart on the inside of the cushion is amazing. I also love that we can see bits and bobs from other quilts you've made on the channel, and the piece from John and Anna's quilt is precious! An absolutely gorgeous cushion cover, thanks for sharing with us.
Love what you showed the log cabin with scraps, from beginning to end. The sewing and quilting was best and great with a cushion to beginning. Thanks, Kate!
I enjoy visiting you from across the pond. No matter where we are around it world, we can meet and have a conversation because we all understand the love for quilting and are familiar with Donna, Jenny, and Bonnie. I love this projects where you gather what you have and create something lovely. I'm busy making for Christmas. Wonderful.
Another lovely video, thankyou Kate. Coincidentally I made a log cabin block today in Christmas fabric as part of a table runner. I love your approach to creativity and for not caring about the quilt police! I agree with Jenny, if anybody looks inside your quilt and criticises your seams “they’re not your friend!”. 😂
Well Kate, it may have only taken you an hour to make but it took me two days!! Haha! And its ever so wonky! But perfection is overrated!! I've used up a load of scraps of Christmas fabric and am quite pleased with the outcome. Thanks for the tutorial. I'm now sitting on the LGS knitting socks, cup of tea anyone and a home made almond tart?
Kate, I didn’t know how easy a log cabin could be, by using just scraps and sewing them on. Love it. Definitely will try. I love how you put the heart inside. You are just so special.
Oh my gosh, I love Bonnie Hunter! She did a presentation at our quilt guild and she was a hoot! I’ve made several of her quilts and downloaded her patterns from her website. I can see the smile on the person’s face if for some reason this is taken apart, and he/she sees the heart. Bless you!
You are absolutely amazing!!! Just love how that cushion turned out. Phillipa will have to bring it when she visits the LGS so we can all admire it. Loves to all!!
You are just the best .... I've so enjoyed watching you do this and it's beautiful . Thank you for your friendship .... Because that's what it feels like 💚💖💚💖💚💖
Beautiful! When I do log cabin for small items like cushions, I sew it directly to a piece of fleece (which becomes the backing). This way, I sew and quilt in one step! The center square is the only one I pin on to make sure it's absolutely straight - I do everything else the same way you do. Such a great gift!
Beautiful work. How lovely that you put a secret heart on the inside for your friend! I’m sure she will treasure this unique, hand-made gift. Thank you also for sharing the helpful tips on making a log cabin pattern - much appreciated! Greetings from Melbourne, Australia.
Wow! you made that look much easier than I imagined it was to do. How fab! Now I can do the same for a Christmas present! Thank you so much Kate and a Very Happy Christmas, stay safe! 💚🇮🇪☘️

I’ve loved Norma for so long and even this much later (Feb, 2024), I’m still sad she crossed the bridge. I remember seeing this video before but as I just watched it again I saw Kate reach across her to adjust the camera. Norma must have felt that whisper of a touch as Kate’s arm went above her and she reacted as if she was going to mark Kate. Awwww. I didn’t notice that the first time and it honestly brought tears to my eyes. She was the sweetest kitty ever and I miss her on every video.
Kate your attention to detail is extraordinary ! ! The little heart inside is just so very sweet, "she won't know it's there but I will" ! ! That just warmed my heart ! ! I just loved how Phillipa hugged it when you gave it to her. I am sure she will treasure it always ! ! ((hugs))

Fab cushion Kate but what's even more great is how well you are looking now. Thanks to you and your for all of the positive vibes. Lynne (Sunderland) 💋💐
Kate, When I first watched this video over 2 years ago now, you inspired me as well as educated me on how to make an envelope pillow case. I adapted the design and used Christmas fabrics and proceeded to make about 10 pillow cases that I sent out as gifts. I quilted the pillows the way you showed and also with crossed diagnal lines by putting masking tape down across the pillow tops as guidelines for my sewing. The results were wonderful and I got a lot of compliments from the people who got the pillow cases. I am a man who only took up sewing a few years ago so I had an indoor craft to do between woodworking projects. The sewing is a good Summertime hobby when I have to come indoors in the AC to beat the steamy North Carolina Summers. Thanks so much for your wonderful channel and inspirations. I plan to retire sometime in the near future and plan to come at some point to walk Hadrian's Wall. When I come to the North, I'd love to meet you and invite you to coffee. Scott Chapel Hill, NC USA

@@susanfryer1616 Hi Susan! My name is Ann Kathy, Kate may miss your comment. You entered it under my comment and, it came to me. You might want to go back and re-enter it in the Comments field so that she will be sure to see it! 🏵 😊
Ann Kathy oh silly me thanks for that
There'll be a heart felt connection when Phillipa watches this and sees the something extra on the inside

Haha...Bad goose. I had to back it up & watch that bit twice LOL.
I thought you were talking about me for a minute!... Eileen the 'mad goose!'
Beautiful...thanks for the fabulous tip ...the 3 ended side 💐
I'd be pleased with it too Kate, you have made a beautiful project from your scraps and, imagine if someone finds the hidden heart, wow!!
