Good mom in-laws like this are a treasure and a blessing! My dear mentoring motherly friend passed away and she's terribly missed. Treasure the time when you are with these wizened angels.
Kate and Anna, I just love watching you work together. I envy your relationship! You videos take me to a calmer place, which I so need amidst the chaos of this world we livei in.
Kate's teaching style is wonderful. Too many people tell me that their mother used to criticize their sewing and make them pick out seams until they no longer wanted to sew. I love this.
So lucky to have a daughter in law who wants to share something like quilting or even knitting with you as a past time. I bought both my DILs machines, paid for classes that all three of us took together and I had them over to work on their quilt tops. They never finished them and never use their machines. I don't even have a daughter to share with. Part of taking these adventures with color and design is sharing with someone else. Enjoy yours.
I am pretty sure it is where those darling wonky stars came from. Not to mention wonky churn dashes that look like Chinese writing! I have a design in mind that uses wonky churn dashes.
I am so beyond inspired. You and Anna make me want a cabin and a cup of tea and sew and learn love watching you so much. You are so inspiring. I love just watching you. You're so natural god bless you.
Kate, you’re so lucky to have Anna. My daughters-in-law aren’t into sewing and have no desire to quilt. This quilts I’ve made for them are always in a closet. You are a lucky woman.
I love when people share the mistakes they make, especially if they are a seasoned maker. It helps me to have grace for myself when I make a mistake, especially when I'm doing something new. It gives me confidence and helps me remember that no one is perfect.
Is there anything more peaceful and happy than listening to other creative people looking at and musing over lovely fabric? That was so fun, watching Anna discover the strips that she loved :) But truly -- there's something magical and skin-tingling about watching someone pondering the beauty they're fingering and the beauty in their mind.
Well done Anna! I agree, sometimes when we catch a mistake it registers a little stronger so we won’t do it again, thanks for sharing your quilting journey Anna, how lucky are you to have Kate for your teacher!
Oh my goodness! What an honor to be granted the unraveling of the roll. I have some in my stash that I am happy to gawk at for a few more years, let alone let somebody else open it.
Scott Fortunoff has a great video of a factory where fabrics are cut and packed for jelly rolls etc, fascinating to watch the ladies working and the set up .
4:37 It made me so happy to see your way of coming up with your quilt top plans! I do the same and have to use the paper and pen! It’s almost my favorite thing once I get on an idea that won’t get out of my brain. Love your videos!
Hello Kate and Anna! A tip from me. I use a 10 pound exercise weight on my long or large square rulers when cutting. this better than anything else I’ve tried keeping them from sliding when you are cutting long or angled pieces! Can’t wait to see Anna’s fabric choices. XO, Carolyn from Michigan USA
Love watching you guy's together so lovely to watch you guy's create things together, while recovering from collapse lung. It's given me much inspiration. Thank you so much everyone here so love being on the green seat with everyone as my dear mum had a green velvet Settie. (She's not with us anymore) 💜 hugs for near Bristol. Keep smiling😊 it's amazing, how far your smile can travel and touch hearts everywhere.
Such a cute mother-in-law, daughter-in-law relationship. So nice to watch you both interact. So much love in there! Beautiful! The quilt will surely turn out to be a beautiful work of love!
I used to have a relationship like that with my mother in law, then one day out of nowhere she stopped talking to me with no explanation. To this day I still don't know what I did. Don't let that happen!
@@618DiarrheaSquirrels Oh dear. This is so sad. The worse thing is not knowing the reason why. It eats the heart out. Hope this ends well for you one day.
The quilt is turning out great! With those mistakes show how to deal with these-so that was learning and one gets understanding- love to see the whole time and more interesting when you get the quilt - Thanks a lot! I used to get those from a class time or feel time with quilters before internet on You tube- I’m told I can’t drive now and so internet is so helpful - Thank you! Ladies and Kate and Anna! Hallelujah -Sandi Myer Lov you all🥰
Hello ,I'm from Cologne Germany and I like your Projekts.I can dpeaking English not very good, but your English speaking I can understanding very ,very good.I love your Chanel.Exvuse my Mittagessen.Have a nice day❤❤❤😁
What a helpful notebook that is, I feel sure they dont make them any more but I will start looking. I must admit when I saw this video pop up I was disappointed that Anna had chosen a Kaffe Fassett jelly roll, since I thought she had something else in mind. Glad it is only a demo block. Im looking forward to seeing her quilt in her colors.
Perfect!!! A lesson to remember! You can always trim it! You demonstrated how wise it is to make a tester that can become part of another project in future. How fortunate you are Kate, to have a sweet beautifully spirited & kind daughter to share knowledge and experience with. I enjoyed this video as always.❤
Oh my goodness!!!!!!! Anna is extremely fortunate to have you, Kate, at her side to help learn quilt making! How I envy her! She has the guidance of the BEST! And Anna, I love your choice of color and fabric! I also love Michelle’s squares that we saw at the top of the video. I agree. Her patterns have a” retro” 60s-70s feel . I love the pink/ orange/ brown large daisy print one. I’m also not great with math, I could never figure out how to measure a square! Carry on girls! Can’t wait till the next installment. A wonderful idea! I'm getting ready to teach my granddaughter how to make a quilt top and this made the process so much easier for both of us. Thank you 😊💓
So nice that you're teaching Anna to quilt. I know her quilt will be gorgeous. Kate you are such an inspiration. While watching I was crocheting a block to a baby blanket for my great grandson due in Dec.
It was so wonderful to see Anna enjoying herself at the machine. Her beautiful smile of joy. Kate your a lovely lady thank you for taking us on this journey.🦋💕
Hi Kate and Anna. I'm not the quilt police because I have never made a quilt in my life but I was wondering about the math. 😆 I thought I will see what happens and indeed it was a little off. 😂 Anna you have become more confident behind the sewing machine. No more stiff shoulders, and you make more speed with confidence. 👍🏻👏🏻 That math error is a huge lesson, things like that always stick to one's mind in the long run. It's pretty cool to see this coming along. xxxx❤️❤️
There was always going to be a maths error if I was involved - so important not to edit these mistakes out !! reading the comments this morning and there seems to be a 50:50 split between those who love the sums and the mathematically confused like me! ha ha! xxx
Anna, I love the fabric you have chosen!! Watching you open the jelly roll and sort through the strips was so fun! Kate, when you said "fondling fabric" I laughed out loud!! Isn't it a Quilters favorite past time?? No Quilt Police here!! We all make mistakes, learn from them, and sometimes create the most wonderful things because of them!!! This was so brilliant! Thank you for sharing this!!! 💖
Anna and Kate I love watching the two of you together. You complement each other with such natural admiration! Oh Anna @ 6 1/2 minutes into the video your expression, to Kate's mathematical competence, is the essence of a deer in headlights. Gave me a good idea of how much fun the two of you must have on a regular basis. Thank you both for sharing your lives and talents with all of us on lookers from the lime green sofa!
I loved this video so much. ❤️ What a fortunate young lady to have Kate as a mother-in-law and a teacher, and what a blessed woman to have Anna as daughter-in-law and student. You make an excellent team. Good job, Anna! Can’t wait to see you working with the beautiful fabric you have chosen. If your fabric arrives when the UK begins its darker, wintery days and you don’t feel like bright, cheerful fabric anymore, just pop on over here to Texas. It’s ALWAYS bright and sunny here - even in the dead of winter. You’ll be feeling like those happy colors again in no time.
Anna, so happy you both mentioned you're mathematically challenged, because I'm always afraid of projects that require maths as I find maths challenging as well. You are such an inspiration to simply do what we love.
Me too! Scared to death to cut!!! We love you Kate, Anna too, just the way you are. You are down to earth lovely friends. We love being with you on the lime green velvet sofa with our pink cushions and foot stools!! Hugs!!
I recently discovered strip tube quilt blocks myself. I bought the Strip Tube Ruler. It saves me from working with the 45* angles. Very straightforward. I confess, I like collecting rulers. Anna, you are doing great!
ENJOYED IT?!!!! THATS PUTTING IT MILDLY!!! The entire process...from Annas choice of fabric...to the DRUMROLL of opening your much coveted Kaffe Fassett jelly roll. Kate's teaching style is wonderful. Too many people tell me that their mother used to criticize their sewing and make them pick out seams until they no longer wanted to sew. I love this.
Yes, they are like mother and daughter. And that's a wonderful thing.
Don't worry about the quilting police. They are too busy checking my stitches here in Italy 😊
And here in America😊

Thanks for keeping them busy!

I love to watch you & Anna sew together! She is so blessed to have you by her side, to guide the way! I love the black you designed!💜💜💜
I love how supportive you are of each other. What a wonderful relationship. And Kate, it's not a "mistake", it's a "learning experience".
I went on a course once where the tutor said "it's not a mistake, it's a design concept" .... brilliant!
Or, as Bob Ross always said, "there are no mistakes, just happy accidents."

I know you two aren't crazy about the colors used in your sample blocks but I think they're lovely!
I love Anna asking all those questions that pop up in my head. Kate thank you for answering them. I especially love the note that fabric is forgiving.
Well done Anna! I agree, sometimes when we catch a mistake it registers a little stronger so we won’t do it again, thanks for sharing your quilting journey Anna, how lucky are you to have Kate for your teacher!
Anna is such a gentle lady so willing to learn from the best.
You both are such a joy to spend time with. 💜💚🩵
Huge bushes with Elder berries! Wow- Anna went after the berries at the top! Wow
What do you mean Kate that you're not a quilt goddess ? You are to us 😉 Love this series. It's helping me build up the confidence to have a go.

Nice quilt blocks Anna and Kate. You look nice in that shade of green Kate.

Anna and Kate I love you two together! Oh the mistakes and learning I have done in my 75 years. It has been worth the journey.
If I had Kate as a teacher, perhaps I would have enjoyed sewing class and learned something!
