In part 2 we are taking a look at a few different methods of transferring your footage and media from your GoPro Hero 8's memory card to your iPhone or iPad. If you are an Android user you can follow along as the method is pretty well the same. The most common method is using the GoPro app and transferring wirelessly via WiFi, it works well but can be slow and use up your precious battery power. There are faster methods that I also cover in this video tutorial. This video also features a quick tutorial on how to pair your GoPro Hero 8 Black to your phone or tablet.

Thanks, this was super helpful. I'm new to GoPros and the interface isn't too bad, but definitely not 100% intuitive. But I just followed along with your tutorial and had photos on my iPhone in 2 minutes, and from there they uploaded to iCloud and I have them on all devices. Thanks again.

I found the connect to media from the app and select them and import them to app to iPad or phone is way quicker than just letting it download great video

Yes, please do a video editing tutorial on the GoPro app...I'm not a pro-video editor, so the app was awesome & the videos turned out amazing (felt like a pro!), but I've no idea how to change the "highlights" or those blue flags lol. Tried Quik once, but I still need to play around with it a bit more.

What's the difference of using a card reader vs just plugging the gopro into the device your trying to transfer to??
I guess this answers my question... I've been wanting to get a go pro but i don't have a computer, i first thought that a computer is needed to transfer photos and videos over to upload them to your gallery or to your social media.

Can you not just connect the GoPro to the iPad since they’re both USB-C? Instead of having to take the micro sd out?
My adventure with the Gopro Hero 5 started in 2016 or 2017. II've been a follower of yours ever since.. I learned a lot from you. Last week I went in the pool with my hero 5, I don't understand how that happened but water seeped into my hero 5. Although Hero 11 is out now, I bought the Hero 8 a week ago. Everything had changed. Gopro Studio didn't exist anymore anyway, Quick for PC doesn't exist anymore either. No GPS data I was disappointed. Your video is very helpful
It helped me a lot as always. It is sad. It takes almost 1 hour to prepare a 6-minute video. I can't buy a new Phone just because of that. I have no idea what Gopro is up to. I hope Quick for Desktop comes out again soon
The volume frequently fades even with the highest setting and the cc text often covers what's being described by the speaker.
Yup, you need to work on the volume.

Never too old! Just look up the types of mounts you want to use it for, and give it a go. Watch some videos how to transfer videos and pics to your phone or computer and post or share. Start somewhere and have fun 🤙🏽

You can plug the GoPro directly into the computer with the USB see cable Or you can take the memory card out and use a card reader to transfer the content

I have a Mac mini and when I try transfer with the card I get an error message saying the format isn’t compatible. I can transfer to my iPhone or iPad with no problem. What can I do to transfer to Mac mini?

Thank you for another great video, have been looking for videos like this for ages, clear and easy to understand. A question I have is instead of taking out the SD card, are you able to just connect camera to iPad Pro with the cable (USB-C to USB-C) and transfer content that way. And yes please would love for you to make another video on editing.

My problem is at 5:43. The timer would go away and the video is fully downloaded. Then it just says 'saving' and is stuck there. I have a 4 minute video that said 'saving' for 39 minutes so far. Tried disconnecting to charger and having same problem. Tried with other videos, same problem. Do you know what this is?

I started using a gopro 8 black and 1/3 of the time when I used the wifi method it would fail to transfer saying the file was corrupt. I came to this video to see other methods
I still can't transfer videos to iPhone, do I need to set up cloud storage? When I click on Cloud, it costs $59.99/yr

Everything works great except when you click on the iPhone app to look at the videos on the GoPro, they don’t show. All other functionality from phone to GoPro works. I can preview the video on the GoPro so I know they are there, but no transfer. Zero joy with the GoPro

When you imported the files via SD card reader (10:50) I noticed the same problem I've been having, that thumbnails of the video hardly ever show. All you have is just the icon. Is there a way to fix this?
Can you shut off the screen of the gopro while recording to save battery?
The screen will automatically turn off when recording but there’s no way to permanently turn it off. However you can go into the settings and reduce the brightness down to 10% it’ll be a little harder to see in bright sunlight but it can save a significant amount of battery power.

The plus side to transfering with wifi is the video and audio is in 1 file if the video is longer then 15 minutes transfering from memory card if the video is longer then 15 minutes separates the video into more then 1 video and audio just things I have noticed and I pay the 3 dollers a month for that unlimited usage if the storage and wifi transfer function just things I have learned hope it helps somebody as well

Please make an editing video bec. Gopro app only allows up to 60secs. For longer videos i have tried premiere pro but it is complicated. Thx
Hey thank you so much for your videos! I’m still on the long part of the learning curve but getting there. Just got a Hero 8. Took some videos. Got GoPro plus and kept getting error messages trying to get stuff to MacBook. I guess I’ll try to the iPad again bot got error messages there too. I’d LOVE to find a tech support person who could work remotely with me to figure out what steps I’m missing! GoPro tech support has not been helpful. Do you offer a service like that or know of any trust worthy people doing that? Thanks again😁
