I personally think apu wasnt offensive and shouldn't be taken off the air. However there is a difference between an Indian comedian owning his heritage and making fun of it and a white guy making fun of someone else's. I do think these guys are hypocritical though. I feel like they dont actually care and are just following the court of public opinion and trying to make a name for themselves.
its called acting, also voice acting, its shouldn't matter the color of your skin to voice a character. its just like big mouth when that jewish chick quit cause she voiced a black girl. and that is why Hollywood is to woke for their own good
The problem isn't the TV show, the creators or the voice actor. The problem is the people - bullies, to be honest, who use just one or two stereotypes to refer to someone derogatorily. If confronted, they'll respond with "oh, I was just trying to be funny", but you know full well what their true intentions are. I think when Indian comics/writers complain about that, it's that they're referring to, and the fact that it makes it hard to project a sincere foreign voice onto the screen when people in power mock/bully you for something outside your control (probably for their own sadistic pleasures) instead of accepting/rejecting your ideas on their merit. It's not the stereotype that's the problem; it's how people use it to project their sick, ignorant, malicious, sinister views under the guise of juvenile/benign humour.
The things people choose to get their panties in a twist over are baffling. I assume the majority of Indians, Hispanics, et cetera truly don't give a shit.
Akaash should get in trouble for doing white voice. You can't just steal Steve Buscemi's voice and make is sound slightly gay and get away with it.

Not in everyway but it the most obvious ways. I loved that dude he was a great manager and a good man. I had never met an indian person and made friends with them before him.
Don't regret it! You did an impression, who cares, I'm a Stoke I've impersonate a brummy no one cares.
Edit: also it's acting! Ffs!! You can't have a disabled person playing that, if they're terrible at acting....
I'm just thankful The Simpsons having characters cancelled happened long after the show stopped being funny. I would've been real pissed if characters were canceled by wokeness back when it was like in season 11 or somewhere around there.
You know that documentary be smelling crazy.
😂
And that's exactly the racism that we are trying to avoid and for which you guys say doesn't exist
Joe acting like he doesn’t know who Hank Azaria is…dude has more talent than Joe could dream of
Akash is only saying this because he and Andrew Schultz appropriate like no other duo, including black voice. He has no morality, he flops for whichever side benefits him. If there is “thought or consideration” in his tone, its because he’s worked on this defense for a while. He’s a total shill. He offends me.
😢
Bang on. When others make fun of his culture then he gets offensive but he also like to play the non PC role. He can give but can't take it. And if someone else makes a valid point about something offensive they will say that they're just triggered as a way of avoiding valid criticism
I wonder if it was Hanks decision to stop or people above him telling him to stop and then saying "you can say it was your decision"
I reckon probably a bit of both, but for sure the producers stepped in and made the final decision… I think you’re right
nah it was Hanks. Being told that you are ruining the lives of a bunch of kids is a harsh thing to be told. He wants to bring joy to people, and the guilt weighed on him.
Here's the show's response:

@funnyberries4017 you are awesome man thank you for your reply
What I really find offensive is when a British actor plays an American actor. Ooo that really chaps my hide.
Bahaha 🤣
Or when an American Actor attempts an “AIRISH” accent
They Streisand Effected their way out of a major representation role in mainstream media and popular culture. RIP Apu
Those opening clips of Hank had me loling hahaha
Poking fun at stereotypes is nothing to get offended by. I’m white and I love Dave Chapelle’s white guy voice Lmfao.
Waiting for a video on lex fridman
I can't beleive the Simpsons listened to this clown and got rid of Apu and the rest of the Indian characters.
Hank Azaria is one of our underrated greats and I hope nothing crazy ever comes out about him to change that.
A white man trying to tell people of color how to feel about stereotypes is crazy work.
For no reason here's Apu... Those were the days!
Too bad his stand up sucks . The bring back apu was wack
It’s called. Voice ACTING
Kumar was totally the opposite of a stereotypical Indian character. But so was apu the more they got into his character
As a caucasian european i have never had an issue with Apu, i dont know why some people in LA have an issue with it.
“Give me a break” - White Dude hahahaha
This made me go from neutral/liking some of the people in that room to disliking and never watching any of their media again
Honestly I’m disappointed that the voice actor canceled himself. He should’ve stood his ground we can’t let cancel culture win .
the whole ban apu
b thing was the beginning of the SJW sucking the fun out of life. Now everything is offensive because they lack sense of humor. its like when they tried to cancel speedy Gonzalez and Mexicans were like wtf we love him.
I’m Italian, all the Italians on the Simpsons were fat greasy murdering crime lords - not a fan of that depiction but I’d never cry about it. I laugh, and understand that we’re all equally getting made fun of
I really hope I don't get suggested Flagrant episodes because I watched this.
Well he got his 15 minutes for acting outraged, that documentary was a hard watch.
Horrible thumbnail
God the fact I know your voice and can't place where it's from is driving me nuts.
There’s a clip from the actual documentary that I love is one guy goes to his parents to ask how they feel about it and they make fun of him by saying he is just like apu it was the funniest moment, probably in history
This is one of your best videos.
The things people choose to get their panties in a twist over are baffling. I assume the majority of Indians, Hispanics, et cetera truly don't give a shit.
I wouldn't say his role on Harold and Kumar was that of a stereotypical Indian.
I never found this dude funny at all.. he’s like Andrew Schulz weird sidekick who laughs alongside him on his podcast and it’s just weird lol.
Like the Jerry Springer Show, a lowering of the bar. But I think Jerry was in on the joke.
Andrew and his sidekick think they have big talent.
