The vegan who gave Lisa some hope when the rest of the world teased her for not eating meat? As a vampire-level-white guy, Apu is an inspiration to me too (and he should be to anyone). Look at him! Graduated top in a class of 7 million. Extremely knowledgeable about US history. When Homer says "democracy doesn't work", Apu gets annoyed at him for badmouthing the country Apu loves. Harder-working than... everyone. Worked 96 hours straight. Briefly became a ladies man but settled down. Takes pride in his heritage - even has a statue of Ganesha at the counter. He's one of the best characters in Springfield.
Anyway, great work on the special! (Also, I'll add that I'm moderate-left, so I didn't just enjoy the special because "people that I agree with = good = funny". IMO a measure of good comedy is "do people that disagree with me say that this funny?")

I also liked how the jokes about Hinduism were mainly about the American characters being dumb or ignorant. My favourite Apu moment was when Homer is...being weird about Apu's Ganesha statue, and Apu, in a very dignified and firm way, says: "Please do not offer my god a peanut."
The joke isn't "Ooo, weird foreign religion!" it's "Americans are ignorant about world cultures."

So true everyone is walking around with a victim complex. All that does is prolong the pain. You gotta grow you gotta move on. As a white male who was a victim of DV perpetrated by a white female sexually sadistic psychopath for 3 years. Bad things happen and that wasn't the worst, not even close. Don't get me started about what started when I was 5. You can say woe is me or get out there and change things. Make things better so these things don't happen.

I'm a white woman who was raped when I was 22. It was horrible and I fought back. I was ashamed and scared I could be pregnant. I ended up getting an STD that I ,thankfully, got rid of and wasn't pregnant. I realized it could have been way worse. There are children and woman all over the world who are raped, beaten, tortured, and killed just because someone else feels like it. They have very little rights. I'm blessed to be born in America. Yeah, I was raped and smacked around a bit, but I lived. I learned from my experience and moved on with my life. I never participated in the 'Me, too' movement. I felt like, if you are alive and can complain about being sexually assaulted, at least you are alive and are not in that environment any more. Now, pick yourself up and go be the badass you can be.

My dad has to give speeches to his department about trans identity despite it not going with his religious beliefs at all. He can work with people and be cordial but he has to swallow his faith for the firm. The company he works for is historically not supposed to be political at all, but corporate culture is starting to obligate it. Damn bro, no joke, those last 30 seconds or so gave me literal chills. My dad came out here from Peru in '85 with $20 and a drug addiction. He overcame all that and gave us a life that we sometimes take for granted. Most of us lose that hunger cause everything gets catered to us. My dad did his best to teach me that lesson and to always remember that nothing in this life is given but earned. RIP dad 🙏

Because in all honesty, there’s groups who get shit handed to them and it’s not Asians. Affirmative action makes us have to do better than all races, even whites. So advocating for equal standards is not asking a handout, it’s asking for an even playing field. As Asians we are constantly shamed for standing up for ourselves and this is an embodiment of coping with that. He’s just being a pussy who is saying what whites and blacks want to hear.
Keep in mind England fucked Indians but we don’t get special treatment there like blacks and Hispanics get in America.

Jokes that bring everyone together while also providing perspective and context. . . This is good. I was just talking with a friend earlier today coincidentally about the Simpsons. I grew up on that show. I think of the Simpsons like it is a family member giving me guidance. My personality and humor and political thoughts are all based on watching the Simpsons every day of my life until I finished high school and went off to college. .. so I was raised by the Simpsons. But I have no idea what they have been doing or saying for two decades. I have not watched the Simpsons for twenty years. How crazy is that? This one show made me who I am. And then once I was who I was, I stopped watching it. And now there is a whole new generation that has their own opinions. But all I want to do is get in a time machine and watch the Simpsons back when they were good.
