  • In this week's video I filmed a bit each day, right through the week to show you how I have created a business which supports the life I want to live, rather than one which saps the life out of me!
I'm in The Studio creating new designs for packaging, out in the garden harvesting dye plants and showing how a small creative business can be, indeed should be, joyful to run.
🌿 I am Jane Lindsey and I am a textile artist, gardener, writer and teacher based in the middle of Scotland. This is my website www.snapdragonlife.com
🌱 The Studio Club is an online membership exploring creativity, nature and different ways to live. It costs £9.95 a month and supported places are available. You can find out more about it here www.snapdragon...

I love how you even consider the back paper of the stickers, most people wouldn't care. Instead you put a lot of creativity into those stunning self made stickers. Thank you for all that inspiration!

Dear Jane, Sunday’s don’t sound that “ slow” to me : striping beds, remaking them, baking something for tea time…etc…. We each have our energy levels and have to live accordingly. I use to press flowers; you’ve inspired me to do a little flower pressing🥰

Jane, I absolutely love how you view your business, it's purpose is "to help you live the kind of life you want to live," rather than "living a life that is determined by that business. My business supports me life."
It is so wonderful to meet an artist with this attitude. Thank you for it.

Thank you Jane. My own (very) small business has evolved accidentally after a career spent in the now, sadly, very pressurised world of English Primary education. I love the idea of dedicating specific days to aspects of your business whilst also prioritising self care. Definitely some food for thought!

Jane, Your show just presented itself thru my feed. So delighted to have found you. I’ve been muddling in fiber since I was a child, and did custom slipcovers for over 30 years. Looking forward to see what your artist e pressions shine forth . Much love and gratitude ❤

I loved hearing that you try not to do anything on Sunday. This year I had to do the same thing. I found I was getting a little frantic if I left even for a few hours. I needed my day to unfold as it needed to.

I like the folder that holds the pressed flower. When you open it looks like a work of art. I almost expect something smaller on the opposite side of the folder. Some pressed plant leaves in a smaller scale. I love your method of organizing and choice of packaging and containers.

Hi Jane, I love the finished sticker you created and the care you take on all levels. Interesting to see how your week comes together with plenty of time for rest on a Sunday. I find intensive bursts of deep work are better with time for something else afterwards - I'm actually teaching myself how to play the piano. It makes for a nice juxtaposition and I find a cup of tea always works, along with a doggie cuddle 🐶🤗. Have a wonderful week 🥰

Such an interesting & wonderfully relaxing video & intriguing to see how your week pans out. Although retired now, I'm thinking rather than trying to do crafty things each day, whenever fits in (ie usually means the end of the day), perhaps I should devote a day a week to drawing/painting & another day for sewing. It would be something to really look forward to, no putting it off by doing something else & motivating to get on & do the 'must do' jobs on the other days. Food for thought!
