That's what I was thinking. Wtf dude? He blamed past relationships giving him trust issues but that doesn't add up here. Does he think she's sneaking away from the table to go find the server to switch her meal? Bribing them to add nasty shit to his food? It's unhinged controlling behavior and really fucking weird.
There’s so much weird shit going on in that story, I feel like a lot of context must’ve intentionally been left out by OP for some reason. They talk about having to order the same thing as their fiancé at a restaurant to avoid a tantrum like it’s the most reasonable request in the world.
For the homeschooling story, the fact that the sister said "how hard can it be," makes me think she shouldn't be home schooling. I feel like that statement shows she isn't going to invest the energy needed if you're going to homeschool your kids.
Right, IF you're going to do that it's a full time job. Individual learning, group learning, out in the world learning, group play, and preferably other interests (sports, dance, music, etc)
Yes! I homeschool and have a degree in childhood education and it's HARD! It's mentally draining, it's tons of extra work, it's existential freak outs at night worrying you aren't doing enough, its being overwhelmed and overstimulated cause yes you love your kids but you're with them 24/7 with no break. "How hard can it be?" A lot harder than you think it is! That's the wrong attitude to go into homeschooling with, cause if it's not hard you probably aren't doing enough!
As a teacher, hearing Morgan & Lauren's reaction to the mom not knowing math or parts of speech was painful 😭😭 There is so much to educating a kid and not everyone is prepared for the responsibility. The mentality of "how hard can it be" just tells me the mom isn't taking it as serious as she should.
I agree entirely, I had neighbors who were homeschooled as children, they are brilliant people and have gotten exposure to social interactions needed for development through the TYPE OF PROGRAM of homeschooling their mother enrolled them in. The mother had clearly not done anything to look into this and is not taking it seriously.
@@notgabrielxshe didn’t even start yet. She was mentioning it was something they wanted to do. I’m sure she would have some her research and joined groups of other homeschool parents to learn what groups are available on her area. Even then it could take a year or two to actually learn about such groups! My son is first grade age and I learned about a homeschool co-op over the summer from another mom at the park! A new homeschooling mom doesn’t need all the answers for people who don’t deserve an explanation or opinion. She needs a group of people supporting her and showing her what’s out there!
THISSSS My mom is a teacher. And as much as I like these girls it just made me so angry and disappointed. Yes, you don't NEED to know everything to be a teacher, nor learn all the planets, or learn fast math. BUT there is so much to being a teacher than just having the fucking answer key! I'm just so mad right now.
100% disagree on the homeschooling story You need to know and understand things so you can teach others Education is a really important thing, and it needs to be taken seriously, especially with children Op's mother was also relieved, so maybe Op has a point in saying they are not that smart (which is fine, but you shouldn't be homeschooling) I also didn't like Op's sister saying, "How hard could it be?" Sounded really bad to me...
not to mention that just knowing the material isn't enough, you also need to know how to communicate the material in a way that your child will understand
I think it depends on the homeschooling program/school & their curriculum bc I don't remember most stuff from school anymore, but now that I've started teaching my kid I have very detailed instructions of what to do, how to do it & how to instruct it to my kid(plus, we have a designated advisor who's an actual teacher with an actual degree in education to reach out to if I have any issues). That being said, I never planned to homeschool in the first place-my kid just has an issue that would 100% get him bullied in public school & we want to wait until that issue is gone(it's not something permanent, but it's not something we can fix overnight) before putting him with a bunch of kids he'd have to see pretty much every day.
@@kodamaakemi9758I had teachers in school that didn't even understand that. My high school physics teacher had previously been a professor and he flat out told us he teaches things one way only & of course that way was difficult for me to understand 😑
Plus they also made our whole family take a learning style/personality exam(we're all kinesthetic learners) & an assessment of knowledge to figure out what curriculum they'd give us. I still don't want to homeschool past kindergarten(I, honestly, just don't want to be a teacher), but I'm surprised at how different/better it is from the homeschooling I received before my parents put me in public school. I will admit that we did go with a more pricey homeschooling program, but it seems to be worth the money & has payment plans & financial assistance options.
People get degrees in education for a reason. It isn’t just knowing the planets, and long division. It’s inspiring a student to learn about the solar system, teaching them to use math that can apply to your everyday life, and writing well so that they can express themselves. Teaching is knowing something really well, so different learners can understand. I started my college career in education, and switched to something else. It’s a lot more difficult than people let on, it’s not just crayons and songs. Just like you can’t be a doctor because you watched greys anatomy.
Story 3: disabled people can be shitty to and are fully capable of using their disability to manipulate the ones around them. it’s both controlling and weaponizing his disability… she’s justified
After I was in an accident I would use my disability to manipulate people because I was angry and bitter also jealous that others weren't struggling to get around. Thankfully I realized what was happening and stoped doing it and dealt with my mental state before I irreparably damaged relationships with those that were trying to help me.
I had a mentally challenged girl at lunch in high school look at my best friend Michael (who is gay) and say “you can’t sit here. I’m not sitting with a (F slur for homosexuals)” So yes, people with disabilities can be cruel. And now, her sister is in a relationship with a woman..
I feel like excusing a disabled person's shitty behavior is ableist. Excusing bad behavior with the mindset of "he can't help it, he's disabled" is infantilizing. We're not children. Outside of the areas where we actually need accommodations, we ought to be treated like everyone else, and that includes being held to the same standards of behavior as everyone else.
If she had any guilt, she would have never even thought of leaving him out bc of his disability. For her to actually go through with it, then double down when confronted, she’s cruel and narcissistic. People like that don’t feel remorse and guilt, all they care about it their reputation and image. The tears are either an act or they’re real ..but only bc her brother being visibly hurt and leaving drew negative attention to her and exposed her which she can’t handle.
As a person in a wheelchair, people don’t realize how much disabled ppl get left out of plans, events, parties. It’s really heartbreaking sometimes. I wish people would see that it happens all the time so they are 1000000% justified leaving 🙃
My mom used a wheelchair for awhile... She would be struggling to open the door at a gas station and just walk by like she didn't exist. She also was overlooked a lot for plans, gatherings, etc during that time. I don't understand how people can be like that? I'm sorry. Reading your comment just made me remember that time of her life (she just passed away). Just makes me lose more faith in humanity.
@imjustanasshlesometimes3488 it's not intentional we just make plans concerning the majority, if a majority of the group where in wheelchairs they would be accommodated without having to say anything, the more of a minority you fall in the more likely you'll be overlooked
As much as I likely wouldn't be able to bring myself to do it, I would feel SO tempted to get petty and immature revenge and splash something on her dress like wine to stain it.... This story has brought out my dark side lmao OP should really take some bragging rights for how calm and collected he was. Couldn't be a lot of us.
Or give him an ultimatum: couples counseling, single therapy, no more controlling the order, no more touching the food, and one slip up is the end of the relationship. Still they should end the engagement. She's being gaslit by him, his friends, and her family to stay with this guy out of pity for his disability.
@@lydiacongdon8135 He's already promised not to touch her food anymore and yet did it anyway, so I'd leave him now to save myself the headache. Plus this reaction is that of a child throwing a tantrum, immediate ick.
As someone who was homeschooled their entire life, I hate the idea of it. I had to get my GED because my mom didn’t teach me right. I was so socially awkward, It was really hard for me to make friends for the longest time. I have horrible social anxiety and testing anxiety. I am completely against homeschooling unless it’s for health or bullying.
I had to do the same!! I also have terrible testing anxiety! I was nearly balling when I did the SAT this summer. Thankfully, I am a quick learner and will be taking an extra class for my math this semester for college. So I think I will do well. At least I hope so.
I still struggle with that as well but I’ve come a long way. For me I have like a 9th grade level of education because I had to rush through high school because we got behind. My children won’t suffer like I did.
as someone studying to be a teacher, i disagree with Lauren. you HAVE HAVE HAVE to know the basics AND SO MUCH MORE when teaching! we have to know grammar that’s so complex, that some people fail uni. *but* you have to be smarter thank your kids to teach it, it’s not as simple as having the answer sheet and figuring it out…
I was home schooled and it was OK, socially i was a little more behind but testing and basic knowledge wise I was much more advanced then kids that went to public school. It can be rough or super great but your experience is very parent dependent. Also you don't have to have basic knowledge because they literally have homeschooling curriculums for parents to follow that walk you though everything.
@@nicolab1708that is so true! 🤯 Hadn't even thought about it that way, but why does it need to be her ordering the same as him and not the other way around when he's the one with the obsession with eating the same thing??? 🤨
As a teacher, the amount of parents who pull out their child to 'homeschool' them because they're challenged or problematic is insane. They always bring them back, after 6 months- they're done trying and expect us to fill in the gaps within a week. I've taught children who were 'homeschooled' till 11, vast majority can't read or write, have delays, and terrible social understanding and integration. I taught a particular child, who had been homeschooled his entire life and thought the only way to make friends was a fist bump and push and shove. The rest of the kids didn't know how to interact with him. And mum slated us, telling us, that he's perfectly fine, the other kids wanting personal space- was weird, and the child who threw a fit because we didn't spend every minute of every hour with him- ended up throwing a chair and having a full breakdown because mum wasn't there. Also had a child homeschooled who arrived, within a week he was expelled because he set fire to another child's backpack- because he was jealous, that they had a nice bag. Another went for lunch with a can of beer and 2 slices of bread- because that's what mum gave him at home, whilst being homeschooled. The success rate of homeschooled children is so low, even in a public school. The parents who claim homeschooling is the way- they need to be educated and prepared for actual life lessons. Because, the minute they give up, put the child into regular population - it's trouble. Xxxx
There's also a difference between homeschooling and just having kids at home do workbook stuff. Homeschooling involved a curriculum that you follow through, regular testing to make sure kids are keeping up to date, and having prictored exams when children get older.
Story 6 : son was NTA , his mom wanted to make it all about her” I can’t believe you didn’t tell me you lost my grandchild “ !!! WTF mother needs to get over herself . They told her not share and she still did ! That should not have to even be announced that it’s north others news to share other than the parents !
20:18 3 breakups, 4 dropped party members, 1 divorce, 1 arrest and a trashed limo, holy shit what happened, best of luck to the bride Edit: 1:18:04 that’s how I learned nine too
I was homeschooled by a co-op, which is what Morgan couldn't remember the name of. I did it from middle school through high school, and no one could tell i was homeschooled because i was socialized through church, many sports organizations, violin, piano, and other extra curricular activities. But, I'm aware not every parent socializes their children well and I've met MANY stereotypical homeschooled kids. I hope they're doing well 😅
As someone who is not from the US story 5 was wild to me. The questions were all things we learn here in elementary school TT Idk anyone who doesn't know the planets of our solar system. Education is much more than just repeating things, seeing as the sister said "how hard can it be" shows that she is not knowledgeable to what it requires.
It's so wild because until KiwiCo sent me a planet kit I had never had any education on what all of them were.. even in elementary school. But I know some other kindergarten teachers did. It's a bit wild here
I'm from the US and those were 100% elementary school questions. I guess not all schools cover it as a mandatory subject? But I would also expect everyone to know though some people just forget information they don't use as well. And that how hard can it be also struck me as totally the wrong mindset. Teaching can get difficult and requires a lot of self-reflection to do well
@@TwoHotTakes sorry but you guys' takes on that story is just BIG L. It's not just having answer keys in front of you. And you SHOULD at least know the basics if you are planning to homeschool. There are plenty of resources and people can do it and some successfully did, but not everyone can do it, especially not ones who don't even know the basics.
Same here with a non-US person. We lesrn all about solar system and psychic (not including quantum), how different creatures work (can literally recite alk the types of cells graduating 5 years ago from elementary), algebra, geometry and trigonometry, all the layers of earth, all the countries on a map + capitals, upper-intermediate grammar of our very hard language and so much more. High school is basically advanced level, such as organic chemistry and biochemistry, genetics, math analysis, advanced grammar (author punctuation and tricky cases), introductory quantum physics etc. Mind you, none of the subjects are optional, all of them are mandatory. When I talk to ppl from US-like education, and we touch any subject, they tend to think I went to grad school to learn this 😂. Nope, just didn’t slack off for 11 years of elementary and high school education.
yeap, exactly my comment too. I would except everyone I know to know the answers of these questions, they are at best the easiest elementary school questions
So I've heard the first story, about the wedding. It was on tiktok and it had more information. First, the nephew had told his dad that he actually didn't like his aunt because apparently she said mean things to him all of the time. The aunt also admitted to the dad that she saw her nephew as a 'thing' just because of his missing leg. Also it was mentioned that he had been in a severe car accident that had taken the life of his mother and that's why he is disabled now. Then the dad proceeded to tell everyone about what the aunt said, and a lot of the family cut her off because they found her behavior towards her own nephew disgusting. I'm not sure if this is the same story or just really similar but if it was the same story then there was some missing extra information. Edit: I've been looking up the story on tiktok and a lot of those accounts are spicing up the stories (like adding some really awful stuff) and even creating false updates. It's really annoying, they just want to one up each other.
Story 1: it honestly baffles me why OP's sister thought her nephew's missing leg would somehow ruin her wedding. As if the entire family doesn't already know???? Does she not have pictures of her nephew? How have the in-laws never seen any pics of her nephew all this time? This tells me that she probably never posts him on social media like he's some dirty secret. Makes me so sad for OP's son.
Story 7: OP is not the a-hole. The family didn't want her there, so she made sure she wasn't there. She should have gone even further and packed some more when she got home, and left completely. Dump that dude.
honestly about the “can we talk tomorrow” thing, i live far away from most of my close family, so i send lots of “can you call me when you’re free” kinds of texts. what i’ve found works really well (even when texting my partner who i live with) is i follow it up with “not an emergency” or “don’t be worried, i just want to make the effort to connect with you and check in” so they’re not freaking out about something until they’re able to call or see me in person
Thats a great way to say it!! Call me when you're free.. its not an emergency. The most non anxiety provoking way. My mom will call me like 4 times in a row and I always think somethings so wrong just for her to be like na all good.
Story 3: he talks about equality, so why can’t he order the same thing as her then? Why does she have to order the same as him? So weird, whole thing is weird
I know this is old but if that happened to me, there wouldn't even be a second date. This is a classic case of "How did you even make it this far?" Since they're ENGAGED.
I like homeschooling when it’s educated adults. I have a family member who was pulled out of school for mental health reasons, but he has close family members including a chemist, an English major, a biologist, and some fluent Italian speakers, some well educated people who could cover the core subjects and more. This means they can understand concepts adequately enough to teach them, they don’t make mistakes because they’re not a beginner themselves. Imagine teaching someone a language using google translate or just a dictionary, there would be plenty of mistakes. Also I think homeschooling isn’t regulated well enough and has links to extreme religion beliefs and conspiracy, abuse, illiteracy, poor social skills, and a lack of preparedness for many job opportunities. This is my view as an Australian and I don’t need to regard school shootings as a factor. Overall I think multiple people who have specialised education in a specific topic who teaches the subject 5 days a week at various levels of complexity for many years in an institution that is vetted and funded with supplies and opportunities that a group of college educated stay at home mums is less likely to have is a better option in the long run. Although my perspective is biased because I went to the second top high school in my state so there was selective admission based on talent in an art, well funded departments, progressive leftist teachers and school rules and general school culture.
i cant say it enough… THANK YOU FOR FOSTERING!!!!! the shelter i work for is literally drowning in animals and people talking about adoptions and fostering helps SO MUCH!!!!!
For the story of the brother who was against homeschooling, I would say that I am on his side. He didn't even ask her tricky or hard questions, literally is basic knowledge! So I really hope that the sister sends the child to school
Story 5: No he’s not the A-hole. He’s so in the right and I’m so glad he called his sister out. He knows his sister, and if he’s saying she’s not very bright then she probably isn’t very bright. Also; if you had a kid who went to public school and you went in one day and someone told you that one of their teachers had absolutely no credentials and very little knowledge and the subject they’re teaching, they’re just some volunteer the school pulled off the street, any parent with common sense wouldn’t be okay with that. So homeschooling shouldn’t be seen as any better. Homeschooling should only be for special needs kids and only when they have absolutely no other options. And even then it’s not great. Obviously not everyone can afford it, but those who can should get their kid an accredited at home teacher rather than trying to teach the kids themselves. I completely agree with OP on this. Homeschooling is a poor choice. And to do so when you have such little knowledge yourself and can’t even answer any basic education questions is neglectful parenting and just plain selfish. I’m glad OP stood his ground. Screw his sister and her husband.
kinda ableist to assume only special needs kids should be homeschooled. Anyone can be homeschooled id rather not live in fear that my kid might get shot. Anyone is allowed to be homeschooled their are online schools for example Florida virtual school their are options besides parent teaching their kids.
@@aaliyahpope5541 It’s not an assumption, it’s my opinion. And it’s a valid. I’m not trying to be ableist. And I never said anything about what’s “allowed”. Clearly and unfortunately it is legal for anyone to homeschool their kid for any reason. But it is the lesser option. There’s a lot kids miss out on education wise and socially by being homeschooled no matter how it’s done. But in the example in this story OP’s sister wanted to homeschool herself when she’s clearly nowhere near qualified to do so. I don’t believe in homeschooling at all unless absolutely necessary, but that’s the worst kind of homeschooling. And why teach your kid to live in fear? They could die crossing the street, by some random predator, and many other ways that are possible in regular daily life. If your worried about guns, do everything you personally can to push for stricter gun control laws. I get being worried about your kid, but living in constant fear and hiding isn’t living. There’s no point to living like that.
@@rebecaa7482 Homeschooling a kid doesn't make that kid stupid if the parent is. Homeschooling Is different than it was in the past their are social options like clubs activities, sports, and summer camps. Online schools are options and hiring private teachers. You're more likely to die at school rather than on the street. Pushing for gun restrictions hasn't worked its no ones right to say how a parent schools a kid. I would rather send my kids to public school but i would never judge people. My sister was home-schooled though Florida virtual and graduated with a 4.0 gpa and took college classed in highschool.
@@aaliyahpope5541 Dim people can’t teach others to be bright. If you’re of low intelligence all you can teach someone is the low level of intelligence that you have. That’s like saying someone who doesn’t know how to drive can be taught to drive well from someone else who doesn’t know how to drive. Try to have some sense here. And again; the woman in this story said she was going to teach her child herself. And anyway as I already said; people miss out a lot on education and socialization than they would at regular school. And if you seriously think all or even most people who homeschool their kids are taking them to do extra curricular activities or paying for them to go to camp or online school, you’re naive. And those things don’t substitute the same kind of experience you’d get in public school anyway. And where’s the statistics and studies to support that kids are more likely to die at school than in any way on the street? It doesn’t exist because you just pulled that idea out of your butt. And Florida schooling is going down the drain fast. So their version of passing classes isn’t impressive. And passing grades still don’t take away from the lack of socialization in homeschooling. And when you’re trying to make a broader argument like you are, using anecdotal evidence doesn’t work for you, it works against.
@@aaliyahpope5541 USA is such a horrific place, i cant image having to home school my child because people dont want to change that stupid second amendment law.
Story 1.... thats her NEPHEW!!!! I cannot imagine one of my nephews losing a limb and then being self centered enough to just ban him from the wedding. Im disturbed.

Story 3: I immediately thought of food tampering along with the controlling and weaponizing disability. As a disabled person myself I hate that it’s a thing but it does happen, I have seen people within my own life weaponizing their own disabilities.
Totally remembered the House, M.D. episode where the wife was poisoning her husband with some form of gold. It was a powder she sprinkled on his food easily with her hands, left no trace other than making him mysteriously DEALTHY ill and House could only find the proof by stopping the woman from washing her hands and checking with some kind of mixture that turned it either purple or blue on her fingers. I wonder if OP was feeling ill at all recently? I'm tempted to go find this post and contact OP. The fact that he freaked out SO bad and refused to eat the food HE touched... there's just something there more than OCD and disability insecurity (coming from someone with both, although my disability, granted, is not blindness). Maybe the friend is even in on it. Its a means of murder that can be drug out for some time too, so wouldn't look suspicious if they drug it out long enough to get married and get a life insurance policy, etc... ... I watch too much true crime crap 😅😂
I loved the phrase "weaponised disability". My aunt did that for 25 years. She was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in her 20s and from the moment she got it, she laid down in bed and said "I'm ill, now everyone serve me". She actually died because she bullied the doctors into overmedicating her.
Story One: I'm disabled and I wish more people would leave and do the same as him or revenge/ stand up to family and friends. You'll be shocked to see how many people will actually do the same or revenge against the bride this is why we need people like Molly Burke+ to share the discrimination as I know if people see all the discrimination in the world then then a lot of people would die in rage.
I'm a little iffy about the homeschooling story, people don't realize how much goes into education. I agree that there are resources and you have the answers available but you do have to be able to understand the subject to teach it. It is not a matter of just knowing the answers, how you arrive at that answer, why that is the answer, and developing critical thinking is just as important. I'm not saying homeschooling is bad or impossible but I think that saying things like "How hard can it be?" is taking away so much credit from the people that teach and teach well (be it teachers or parent-teachers).
Story 5: NTA Sounds like the sister would be a shitty teacher based on her tantrum after getting all the questions wrong. I can’t imagine her kid not understanding something in her workbook and the mom giving her an attitude or calling her dumb.
Story 7: when you MARRY someone you marry into their family too, they should either teach her etiquette or the husband should tell his family him and his wife aren’t joining dinners like that.
Why should they teach her etiquette? He obviously fell in love with HER not who she wasn’t. If the husband can’t stand beside her or stand up for her to his own family then he should just be single. Sounds like her in laws are snobs.
Ok so homeschooling topic always gets me. I was homeschooled from 4th and on. It was the most isolating experience. I also had an abusive parent. I swore that I'd never homeschool. However, now that I'm an adult I see that it can be done in a better way. Make sure your kid has interaction with other kids!
Story 4: That's no different than a woman discreetly pointing out to a man if his fly's open or if he has a giant booger. Wow, the co-worker needs to get over herself an learn to realize that OP's looking out for her. It's awkward enough for men to approach women for something like this.
Yeah, although I do think that the guy could have just said "you have a stain". Instead of talking about the period thing, just like if your coworker has a booger you don't go "I think you didn't blow your nose properly you have a massive bogey hanging from your nostril" you say "I think you you have something in your nose". Definitely not worth a write up but it's just a more decreet way of not making someone embarrassed.
My question is, did the OP even actually point out the stain when he said that?? Cause the way Morgan read it, it sounded like OP just went up to her and whispered "you're on ur period, want a jacket?" to her, which, without explaining the cause, seems really weird. Normally when men say they "Think" a woman is on their period, it's because they don't like how the woman is behaving, attributing it to period moods. I hope OP was 1000% clear about the stain, otherwise I can't blame the co-worker for being like "uh...waht?".
@@vindifference if someone said that to me I would immediately think that I have a visible stain. What would I want a jacket for if I didn’t have a stain?
Yay Lauren!!! Lauren and Alejandra are my absolute favourite co-hosts! I always go back and rewatch their episodes. You ladies have such a great dynamic
Oohhh that bothers me the most about story 6: grandma being upset about the loss of “my grandbaby”. It’s such a small thing but it exposes her entitlement. Technically, yeah it would have been her grandchild, and she is allowed to grieve. But it was their baby first. And their loss
one time i was younger and threw an EOS chapstick at my bookshelf, it hit a shelf came back and hit me in the eye leaving a bruise. I can not tell you how pissed off that remade me
I homeschool my son but he’s transgender and nowadays putting him in a public school is terrifying to me. We pulled him last year after kids were screaming the F***** word at him and mooing and tripping him. With no help from the school. With us living in a “bible belt” area it’s far too dangerous for him. It works for us. But I understand people’s fears. There are a lot of free resources and online things parents can do!
Agreed! I think some parents definitely should NOT homeschool unless they know they can handle it and educate themselves in how to homeschool correctly for their children. I personally went to a CO OP school and LOVED it, I still had standardized testing and got to have a great social life but also had the luxury of going at my own pace and personalizing my learning plan to my needs. My mom did an amazing job when it came to the homeschooling aspect of it but she also wasn’t ignorant to how hard it would be. I think a lot of people hear homeschooled and hold this stigma against it, if it’s done right it’s an amazing gift but if not then of course it will only cause more problems and make your child fall behind in every aspect. Much love to you and your son ❤️
@@DystopianchickUnfortunately more accepting/liberal states tend to have a higher cost of living as well, so moving may be financially difficult. Also unfortunately, there's no place that is 100% safe for trans kids :/
I'm 100 % against homeschooling, unless it's in the childs best interest due to circumstances such as in your son's case! I hope it gets easier for him soon and that he finds a community that he feels at home in ❤️
Story 3: Does he also touch the food of anyone else, or just his girlfriend? Does he touch the food of the friend who was depending him when they go out? Or his family members?
For the homeschooling story, the mom definitely doesn’t have the right mindset. She doesn’t need to know everything because as long as she gets curriculums they have answer keys, but I do think that people should understand basic math… I’m lucky that my mom was passionate about me and my sister and our education. I was well socialized and I was able to do my schoolwork at my own pace and time because of the flexibility. I even graduated with 36 college credits through dual enrollment. Homeschool isn’t a thing you do because “how hard can it be?” It needs to be something that you’re passionate about so that you can make sure that you’re doing everything right
Story 5. I don’t think the brother was wrong. It was a reality check. The sister literally said “how hard can it be?” It’s more then just waking up and telling them stuff you actually plan lessons and teach and grade stuff.
(edit: I miss-numbered the story) For story 5: NTA, and I COMPLETELY disagree with you guys on it.There is literally no excuse to not know basic things like what the planets are called (there's literally 8 of them it's not that hard come on) and what a verb is if you are going to home school your child. Those are not hard questions at all it's literally basic knowledge that everyone should know. That child will not get a good education with those parents. A child needs a proper education to be able to succeed later in life, and homeschooling those children would be a disservice to that child's development. I completely disagree with you guys with your takes on this story, you're not seeing how serious education really is.
Morgan is a Doctor of Occupational Therapy. She’s been to university and grad school and has worked in clinical settings. She’s educated. The number of planets was taught in elementary school which is years and years ago for some people same for verbs, adjectives, etc. We aren’t tested on those things daily and don’t need to use a lot of that information as adults so it just becomes obsolete. You thinking everything is so easy to know / remember and getting upset about it is ridiculous.
Exactly my thoughts. You need to understand a topic to actually teach it, not just wing it cuz “how hard can it be”. Sometimes I feel they make assumptions everyone can do everything because they remotely relate to what is happening. Of course Morgan doesn’t need to know the planets, but a TEACHER does need it.
@@user-dw8gq7bl4x My main problem with their response is how they are not grasping how serious an education is, teaching your child is not something to just try on a whim. I'm not saying Morgan is uneducated I know she is extremely educated and I respect her for it. The excuse about not using those things in daily life really frustrates me. Do you never read anything? Do you need to be in school to still be curious about the world? I am also not tested on what a verb is and what the planets are daily, I'm 20 and in university studying Anthropology so space is not my area of expertise. But I still go out of my way to be sure I know about the world I'm living in, and I repeat these are NOT hard questions. edit: also, in my original comment I was clear that I was saying there's no excuse to not know these things "if you are going to home school your child". I was never making a dig at Morgan for not knowing them, you assumed that.
@@samanthag6613 Yes this is my point, these are questions that anyone who is going to be TEACHING a child must know. Morgan is not teaching a child so it's fine if she does not know. It's still surprising to me that adults don't know these things, but I'm not American so I could be missing some context here.
@@user-dw8gq7bl4x you are not getting the point here. Yes, she is educated but she in Lauren took a big L on this story. Teaching is not just having the answer key in front of you! It is hard work especially if you are teaching every subject the kid needs to learn. So fine if she doesn't know all the planets; not that important, but 16 divided by 4? Come on. Moreover, the mom doesn't know verbs for crying out loud. I was a certified ESL tutor, not even a teacher, but one thing I learned while getting certified and tutoring is that you have to always be 10 steps ahead of anyone you are tutoring. Their takes are so insulting to teachers and other educators.
I love Lauren, she is so freaking smart. And even then, she is still able to humble herself and she’ll make jokes that give her own self a hard time, or she will be able to be honest about her weaknesses. I love her. Not everyone else is able to do tht but she’s what keeps me coming back
If I have something stuck in my teeth, blood on my pants a booger in my nose? TELL ME! I would rather have an awkward moment with one person, than come across 50 other people with the without knowing I’m showcasing all of that. They’re all natural things 🤷🏼♀️ I don’t care that they’re there but I’d rather they not be if I can fix it
As someone who was previously homeschooled(pre k - 12th), there's a lot of good in it if it's done right. The biggest pro, in my opinion, was that being 1 of 5 kids, my mom was able to customize our learning plans and curriculum to each of us. Our learning methods(visual learner, audible, tactile, etc...) as well as help guide us towards what we wanted to do after high school. Socializing is always the biggest thing people ask about, and my family was part of a group of about 300 families in North jersey. We had choir, debate teams, drama classes, and smaller group classes for various subjects like sciences.
Story 3: THERE WAS mention of why he wanted it that way!!! He said it "made him feel less-than" if she ordered something different. It's the most BS manipulation tactic, and makes no sense whatsoever, but there it is. Now, on to the meat and potatoes (haha): they had the same dish. He touched hers to "make sure" (which I don't understand, because he had to have heard her order the same dish). If she swapped her plate for his, they're still eating THE SAME MEAL!!!! OP is NOT the a-hole, her fiance is, and she needs to leave his neurotic self immediately.
When I’m upset and feeling like I want to throw or break something I find paper that isn’t important and rip it up into tiny pieces - works great to get it all out and only needs a little sweeping after
37:31 - Pitbull and Daddy Yankee (the artists behind the song) are both from Puerto Rico. Gasolina is a ready to drink alcoholic beverage that is packaged like a CapriSun, originally sold in Puerto Rico. ☺️
It has absolutely nothing to do with that nor cocaine. It’s about someone who likes going out and having fun. The song is older than the drinks, Pitbull is not on that song whatsoever and he is cuban. 😵💫
That poor child already probably feels excluded/insecure because of his missing limb.I cannot imagine when he finds out that his auntie purposely left him out at a major milestone because of HER insecurities! Sometimes it's blood that hurts you the most.
I still get mad when I remember my little sister (13 yrs old) made a post on Facebook (SHE NEVER MADE POSTS ON FACEBOOK) and announced MY pregnancy ! My relatives use Facebook, so everyone found out. It was not the way I wanted to announce my 1st pregnancy. ( my sister and I have a 7 yr age gap) At the end I forgave her but damn does it still make me mad
When I was in high school my very best friends father died very suddenly and tragically (a chain snapped on his tractor while he was chopping wood and it fell on top of him). My friend and her siblings didn’t know immediately because their mom obviously had to go to the hospital and deal with that and then wanted to drive to the middle school, pick up her brother and then get my friend at the high school so they could be told together. Well, some stupid bitch who went to high school with our older siblings (my brother and her sister were in the same class too) found out about it because her boyfriend was a first responder at the scene and idk what was going through her head, maybe she figured they would all know after like three hours but she posted on my best friends facebook wall “I’m so sorry for your loss” before she knew a single fucking thing about it. people are fucking deranged on social media. Edit: not calling your sister deranged
Hearing Morgan explain her trick for the multiplication of 9's made me so happy. It's the same one I use and I've never heard of anyone else using it (no idea how I came across it) and anytime I've tried to explain it to some one or help teach them it they think I'm crazy or making it over complicated since everyone else knows the finger trick.
I'm here to the end, I usually listen multiple times. I appreciate Lauren for speaking on fostering and adopting. Plus, I enjoy chitter chatter. You all have a great rapport and genuineness for one another.
The food story with the blind person souuunds like ocd. It could be that he doesn't trust his girlfriend and he copes by trying to control her actions and micromanage. He asks her to order the same food as him to make sure she isn't signalling to the waiter to get a different dish behind his back, and then when the intrusibe thoughts overwhelm him, he compulsively reaches out to touch her food. The resulting tantrum is because he knows how irrational and illogical he was being and is embarrassed about it. The issue isn't touching the food, the issue is him trying to micromanage the girlfriend. This could definitely be discussed in therapy.
As someone with OCD, I could see this being a potential conceptualization of what's going on. My unprofessional, two cents opinion, but the embarrassment induced defensive anger is such a thing for any disorder that gets a lot of shame. especially when you KNOW you fucked up, violated your partners boundaries, and after a long term pattern of having that compulsion previously. Just one of many possibilities of what's maybe going on with him, but I think it would be worth turning over and seeing what we can learn.
My hot take is that I like the intros. I definitely was roped in by how well the posts are organized into genres, clearly that takes a lot of effort but I really stick around to listen to y’all ❤
For Story 5 with regards to Homeschooling I think ESH. The sibling for their approach and even if they didn’t say it out loud, the preconceived notions of what makes intelligence (and deciding the mom and dad were NOT) and the mom for saying “how hard could it be” also an AH. The answer is it’s incredibly hard, few people do it successfully, and that attitude can lead to a lot of problems. If the parents had said “we’re passionate about home schooling because we believe in experiential education, we’re joining a co-op and signing little Johnny up for all these extracurriculars” then I would at least say that the parents had strong beliefs and had a plan. I don’t think home school is right in 95% of situations. It’s often tied up with a lot of BS that doesn’t have the child’s best interests at heart. So maybe a little assholery is needed to snap OP’s sister out of it. It’s still an AH.
I feel Lauren’s long division comment. My sister and I literally did a recap of long division and multiplication a few months ago. We had completely forgotten. The good news, it didn’t take long to pick it back up again after a refresher 😂
Story #3. I’ve been married to a blind guy for over 25 yrs. Like no. Breakup with him. Insecurities about food? Touching other peoples food? There are more psychological issues here at play.
I'm confused why she hasn't had more of a conversation with her partner about WHY he insists on eating the same food. If my partner were behaving so bizarrely, I would insist on a conversation, and not be content with some half-ass answer that I don't really understand. I also wonder if, since she's paying, he's worried that she's ordering something fancier for herself but cheaper for him? But wouldn't he have HEARD her ordering to the waiter? Idk, he needs help and she maybe needs to leave him. His behaviour is insane
The bride in story 1 reminds me of the lady who wouldn't let her 6 year old neice attend her wedding because the girl had lost her arm in an accident that killed her other parent. The remaining parent found out why and refused to attend, and everyone went after them for ruining the wedding.
I think just saying, "Hey I think you sat in something, there is a small stain on your pants", is just more tactful and more professional to say in a workplace environment. It's less invasive and less embarrassing for the other person.
Story 3, the reference to past relationships sounds like there may be a food related trauma. My first thought was, did he have exes that found it funny to switch out his food with theirs because he's blind. Thinking it was a funny "prank". His behaviour is still weird, im just wondering the source of this behavior
@frappoGarcia maybe but if he's trying to make sure they're the same or is worried she's going to do something to her food (which could be his swapped food) maybe that's why. Like I said either way it's still weird but everything paired with him reacting the way he did to her trying to switch the plates made me think that he's had someone mess with his food because he's blind before. It could still be a control thing but it's so specific and isolated I'm not sure it's just him being controlling
For story 3, I had an Ex who would always take food off my plate when it was set down at a restaurant or even at home if we had the same thing. From my experience, that is a control issue. For story 5, I work at a home school co-op, and not only do I adore the kids, but also if something like this was around when I was their age, I would absolutely do it. I know there is a lot of stigma about homeschools, and I'm sure some of it is true but there are so many advantages. One of my kids, who very much reminds me of me, has severe anxiety, with the smaller classrooms, more one-on-one, and days off the get more regulated she is able to do much more than I would have been able to do. I'm so passionate about this so sorry for the mini rant!
Being an adult and not knowing the planets is wild to me! It’s the equivalent of knowing the days of the week or counting 1-100 idk. As a native Spanish speaker even I know them in english 😅🙈
The sad part is a lot of the elementary schools in America, especially in certain cities and rural areas are more focused on kids reading and math over science. which tbh still baffles me as someone who was an educator why we can’t incorporate science and social studies texts into ela and math (and something that I did often) I will also say that this change of combining these subjects is pretty new. I started working with kids in 2014 and had my own classroom by 2017 and during that time it was pretty common to bring in texts with this info but I’ve also heard stories like Morgan’s where it was never a part of the school curriculum and that’s kind of sad.
Regardless of how much the first kid has adapted, and no matter whether he has a prosthetic or not, that bride proved to the father of that boy that every time she thinks of that kid all she thinks of is his disability. She literally associates her nephew with being broken. Also, no hate at all to Morgan, I know you have OT brain, but remember that from the perspective of a disabled person being curious and trying to find out more about someone's disability is a form of ableism.
I disagree with the "you have the answers in front of you" for the homeschool story. It's more than just having the answers, it's understanding the fundamentals and having knowledge and ability to transfer the information. Because, by your definition anyone can teach in a school school at any level if they have the answers to the questions or if they can Google. That being said, if she wants to homeschool she needs to look into proper structure and hiring someone or joining a group of people who homeschool or online homeschooling etc etc. School has the hidden social curriculum that she also has to compensate for. It's sad that she cried but I think it was necessary to open her eyes.
This! Cry and then wipe your eyes and hopefully you see clearly YOU SHOULDN'T just because you could. That mom needs an eye opener, and if it makes her cry that's ok.
Also to add in, I too have thrown something in anger. When i was younger and had a bad day at school,I decided to throw my phone. In my young mind, I figured I'd just throw it on the bed so not much would happen to it. Except, it decided to dramatically bounce off the bed and right into the wall. Yes, the phone cracked. It cracked so bad that it cut me whenever I used it. I deeply regretted my actions that day.
Sorry but for story 5, are y’all out of your minds? Ofc you can not be home schooling if you don’t know the literal BASICS like simple math and definition of a verb. She absolutely did prove a point, THEY ARE ADULTS.
For story 3, he’s blind not deaf, did he not hear her literally order the same thing? He’s weird and has some issues.
So true lol
That's what I was thinking. Wtf dude? He blamed past relationships giving him trust issues but that doesn't add up here. Does he think she's sneaking away from the table to go find the server to switch her meal? Bribing them to add nasty shit to his food? It's unhinged controlling behavior and really fucking weird.
I came here to say the same thing!!
Lmao waaaiitt
It was hard for me and I know all 9 planets and what a verb is.
I also feel most adults should at least know the planets.....is this really a question most people don't know the answer to?
@@karapersinger8401 I know the planets so maybe it’s just them 🤷🏽♀️🤣

As a teacher, hearing Morgan & Lauren's reaction to the mom not knowing math or parts of speech was painful 😭😭 There is so much to educating a kid and not everyone is prepared for the responsibility. The mentality of "how hard can it be" just tells me the mom isn't taking it as serious as she should.
the not knowing what a verb was got 100% overlooked, that one was especially wild
No because I literally skipped this one the minute laurel started talking about the answer key thing 😭😭😭
100% disagree on the homeschooling story
You need to know and understand things so you can teach others
Education is a really important thing, and it needs to be taken seriously, especially with children
Op's mother was also relieved, so maybe Op has a point in saying they are not that smart (which is fine, but you shouldn't be homeschooling)
I also didn't like Op's sister saying, "How hard could it be?" Sounded really bad to me...
not to mention that just knowing the material isn't enough, you also need to know how to communicate the material in a way that your child will understand
FR like why is it such an issue for him to not eat the food he fucking touched too?
After I was in an accident I would use my disability to manipulate people because I was angry and bitter also jealous that others weren't struggling to get around. Thankfully I realized what was happening and stoped doing it and dealt with my mental state before I irreparably damaged relationships with those that were trying to help me.
I had a mentally challenged girl at lunch in high school look at my best friend Michael (who is gay) and say “you can’t sit here. I’m not sitting with a (F slur for homosexuals)” So yes, people with disabilities can be cruel. And now, her sister is in a relationship with a woman..
For real!! He is using it to be abusive
The bride in story 1 didn’t cry because her wedding was ruined, she cried because she felt guilty and knew the brother was justified
No she's crying because she didn't get her way when she was wrong. No way she felt guilty.
@@Harus_Teaoh yeah!! Def that too, I meant guilty in the sense that she felt bad for herself

@@delightfulstrawberry1074oh then yeah that's right
If she had any guilt, she would have never even thought of leaving him out bc of his disability. For her to actually go through with it,

The tears are either an act or they’re real ..but only bc her brother being visibly hurt and leaving drew negative attention to her and exposed her which she can’t handle.
story 3: very weird controlling behavior, i have a feeling it’ll only get worse after they get married.
As a person in a wheelchair, people don’t realize how much disabled ppl get left out of plans, events, parties. It’s really heartbreaking sometimes. I wish people would see that it happens all the time so they are 1000000% justified leaving 🙃

My children won’t suffer like I did.
yepp. i was friends with someone who was homeschooled for a pretty long while and he said they hated it because of the lack of socialization and such
as someone studying to be a teacher, i disagree with Lauren. you HAVE HAVE HAVE to know the basics AND SO MUCH MORE when teaching! we have to know grammar that’s so complex, that some people fail uni.
Xxxx
Also parents have no pedagogic training, how are they going to teach the kids in the best possible way if they don’t know how that is done?
And I'm sorry but not knowing basic math is a problem. I can't imagine how they think they can teach their children
As someone who is not from the US story 5 was wild to me. The questions were all things we learn here in elementary school TT
Idk anyone who doesn't know the planets of our solar system.
Must be a different one because I read as is. Hmm
Yes! I had heard the resolution & hoped Morgan had seen the rest
@@TwoHotTakes a lot of the tiktok vids have started adding their own fake updates and info to existing reddit stories to bulk them out!
@@shelk4358yes exactly, along with exaggerated/fake info to drive up engagement
Shame on those TikTokers. Making up horrid stories about a real child and using discrimination for drama and clout. Disgusting.
This is the second time Lauren picks a story and Morgan hijacks it and they go with the other she didn’t pick 🤣🤣
The other one sucked 😂 I don’t know why I even asked
@@TwoHotTakes I think its your struggle of being Type A lol
It's ok Morgan we all still love u 🤣
It happens so often omfgosh lol
It literally reminds me of myself and I think that’s why I listen so religiously to this podcast haha someone like minded

Story 3: I immediately thought of food tampering along with the controlling and weaponizing disability. As a disabled person myself I hate that it’s a thing but it does happen, I have seen people within my own life weaponizing their own disabilities.
I thought so too, like he's dosing her or something

Yesss Lauren is my fav!!

“Go to laser tag and take shrooms” I would like to party with Morgan
isn't it normal in the us for people to know all the planets?? the american education system never fails to amaze me
Story One: I'm disabled and I wish more people would leave and do the same as him or revenge/ stand up to family and friends.
I think the bride ruined her own wedding because she thought Op was going to bad mouth her to others, so she tried to "get ahead"
Story 5: NTA
Sounds like the sister would be a shitty teacher based on her tantrum after getting all the questions wrong.
@@claraaralc An unfortunate lesson in balancing wording and tact.
@@vindifferenceso what would he be offering the jacket for if not for a stain?

Oohhh that bothers me the most about story 6: grandma being upset about the loss of “my grandbaby”. It’s such a small thing but it exposes her entitlement.

Thiiiiiis!!!!
one time i was younger and threw an EOS chapstick at my bookshelf, it hit a shelf came back and hit me in the eye leaving a bruise.

Have you considered moving for the sake of their safety ?

Homeschool isn’t a thing you do because “how hard can it be?” It needs to be something that you’re passionate about so that you can make sure that you’re doing everything right
I’m heartbroken for the guy and his son in the wedding story, that is so terrible!
Story 1 made my jaw drop. What a heartless bride!
Story 5. I don’t think the brother was wrong. It was a reality check. The sister literally said “how hard can it be?” It’s more then just waking up and telling them stuff you actually plan lessons and teach and grade stuff.
Every video people shock me more and more. THE AUDACITY.
No way its been only one minute?! I've been religiously checking to see when the new episodes drops ALL DAY😂
(edit: I miss-numbered the story)
For story 5: NTA, and I COMPLETELY disagree with you guys on it.There is literally no excuse to not know basic things like what the planets are called (there's literally 8 of them it's not that hard come on) and what a verb is if you are going to home school your child.
@@user-dw8gq7bl4x
My main problem with their response is how they are not grasping how serious an education is, teaching your child is not something to just try on a whim.

I definitely was roped in by how well the posts are organized into genres, clearly that takes a lot of effort but I really stick around to listen to y’all ❤
Aw I love the shoutout from Lauren for Best Friends fostering! They’re one of my favorite rescues
Should've had Justin on this episode and called it "JUSTIN-fiable Reactions" lol

The way Morgan can convey so much meaning/judgment into “it’s interesting” always amuses me.
im so happy about all the episodes with Lauren! she's my favorite co-host
I solely watch the videos with Lauren due to realistic way of thinking, love her!
Who are these idiots who keep blaming the parents of the disabled kids?
48:31 “she’ll have the salmon.”
“…I’m allergic.”
this is the first thing that popped into my head, idk why.
I think just saying, "Hey I think you sat in something, there is a small stain on your pants", is just more tactful and more professional to say in a workplace environment. It's less invasive and less embarrassing for the other person.
Thank you for raising awareness for all the dogs/cats in need of a home ❤ rescued my kitten in Feb and hope to rescue another cat soon
The food touching story: I don’t think it’s a roofie thing, you can’t roofie the person driving you home
exactly if she was roofied I think op would notice…
Story 3, the reference to past relationships sounds like there may be a food related trauma. My first thought was, did he have exes that found it funny to switch out his food with theirs because he's blind. Thinking it was a funny "prank".
His behaviour is still weird, im just wondering the source of this behavior
That’s understandable but wouldn’t he check his food instead of hers? And why wouldn’t he eat the food he already touched?
@frappoGarcia maybe but if he's trying to make sure they're the same or is worried she's going to do something to her food (which could be his swapped food) maybe that's why. Like I said either way it's still weird but everything paired with him reacting the way he did to her trying to switch the plates made me think that he's had someone mess with his food because he's blind before.
It could still be a control thing but it's so specific and isolated I'm not sure it's just him being controlling
@@cassiemtawho cares he can get over it or don’t be in a relationship. Trauma ain’t an excuse to act like an ass
@mrdavman13 I'm interested in intelligent conversations not arguments. Thank you for your time
@@cassiemtabut he's right though. Trauma is not an excuse for bad behaviour
"Howo do you get all the blood out?"
"How do you get the the moon?" LMFAO
It's not wild. I don't know all the planets. I mean I could name then eventually but some people never got taught all the planets
Australian here and recently found your channel and have been binging it hard! I hope your dad had the best time over here! 😊
I recently chucked my wallet at my bed & I have no clue how but a corner snapped off my debit card & now I need to replace it lmao
Sorry but for story 5, are y’all out of your minds? Ofc you can not be home schooling if you don’t know the literal BASICS like simple math and definition of a verb. She absolutely did prove a point, THEY ARE ADULTS.
