Completely agree, whilst I was in my twenties when my dad remarried this is what happened. Wasn't involved in the wedding, almost wasn't in the photos, was sent away early from the photos, l was not at a family table and over the course of the first year of their marriage there's now no relationship with my father...

At my tiny wedding with my husband not only did I make vows for my husband I made a custom one for my step son too, who was only 3 at the time. It was the most meanful thing I had planned and told nobody ahead of time but I promised I'd always be the best bonus mom I can be. And the best part was it felt like my little man understood me well enough. And gave me hugs in the middle of it. I can't imagine excluding him. When I took my husband I took my step son too. It made me so mad someone could think that you can remove a piece of your spouse cause that's what a child is

I only knew what had happened because I vaguely remembered a bright light shining in my eyes. So violating and disturbing. Story 5: HOLY SHIT that’s 100% sa and needs to be reported to the police. I am also “sex repulsed” it stems from trauma and abuse from when I was a child. My partner of 8years is almost the complete opposite and also loves having videos/photos. But we talk it out, he makes compromises for me and vice versa so every encounter is consensual and enjoyable. He has NEVER even so much as tried to make a move on me when I’m impaired let alone unconscious. This is a horrific situation and he needs to be held CRIMINALLY responsible.

    Story 1 Update :
Hello everyone! Thank you for all the kind comments and suggestions for Hawaii we a few days ago and P is already having a ton of fun. If you have any cool suggestions please drop them in the comments.
As for my ex-fiancée she has tried to reach out to me wanting to work everything out saying she only did it because her mom wanted “pure” grandchildren. I still do not care, if she really loved my daughter and I she wouldn’t have acted on her mothers wishes. S has called my workplace to try and get in touch with me, she has even shown up a few times to try and talk to me and I’ve told my supervisor to just ask her to leave. She has gone as far as messaging my ex wife a few times wanting to know why her calls won’t go through to me.
When she caught wind that we were in Hawaii she was pissed. I’m still close with her brother, and he told me that her and her mom were going to try and get plane tickets. If that’s the case I will likely file a restraining order. P has asked what happened to S and I told her that we come as a package deal and S only wanted me and I couldn’t leave her. P understood but I think she was a little heartbroken. I know this update is small but it’s all I have for those asking.

Hi Morgan I’m a long time listener and I love the podcast. It’s also really nice to Lauren again.
I have a topic suggestion for a future episode if you’re interested, it would be ‘Missed The Mark/Dropping The Ball’, you’d gather some stories where you think Reddit gave an Op the wrong verdict on aita, or just some bad advice in general.
I got this idea from a story I recently heard, where an Op was afraid of reconnecting with the father of her daughter. Op listed all her fears, but was YTA into oblivion and decided to listen to the verdict and reconnected, it went awfully and everything Op was worried about happened. However after Op updated and told Reddit what happened, Reddit shamed Op again for listening to them.

This is a good idea for an episode. WOW! That is horrific and a prime example of how toxic reddit can be. I hope the OP will recover from this.
I think an episode about near misses is important to do to put Reddit into perspective for people and show that the advice isn't always correct nor is always helpful to go in that platform as people can be SO TOXIC.

Story 6: Food, since moving out of my family home and going through gallbladder removal surgery, I have started to reeducate myself on food. My family on the other hand shows love through food, which means constantly having to reinforce that I'm full or that I'm not able to eat something high in fat whenever I visit. That being said OP's gf has to be the one to tell her family to back off of OP's eating.

I was really overweight when I was younger and worked really really hard to lose all the weight to be thin and fit, so i watched what I would eat to keep that figure. His grandmother would always comment on me not eating very much she’d say “honey you eat like a bird, you need to eat more you’re so skinny”

I had a childfree friend make similar comments when I announced I was pregnant. My husband and I were trying 3-4 yrs (and have had several losses).... Then me being extremely hormonal, sensitive, anxiety riddled.... I effin snapped on that person. The references of my baby being a "crotch goblin" or "crotch fruit".... Yeah, it's been 4 yrs and I still haven't spoken to that person.... And I don't miss them at all lol.
In a way to protect myself, my son wasn't "real" to me until he was in my arms.
When I was pregnant, it was almost a free for all for ppl to make inappropriate remarks, "you're huge. You sure you still have 4 months to go? Twins in there?" Mind you, I'm 4'11".... 5lbs on my frame makes a huge difference. I used to crave smoothies (had HG and they stayed down).... The cashier there was awful... One day I burst into tears about her commenting on my size. To my surprise, a guy behind me stuck up for me *and* reported her to the manager. That man is my hero.
Lots of love to you girlies 💞💕

i'm childfree and to be honest i use words like crotch goblin etc. sometimes BUT only when i'm talking with other childfree people in a joking way in regards of situations were a child acted out like throwing everything in a supermarket out of the shelves to the ground, hitting animals etc., i'd never do this when i don't know if someone likes kids and especially not infront of someone who wants kids or has one.
i'd never judge people for wanting to have kids, it's just not for me and although they annoy me i would never treat a child badly or don't value them as a human being, it breaks my heart when i hear of things like child abuse, neglect and stuff like that, like everyone who has empathy should no matter if the want/like children or not.
and especially as a childfree person you experience getting judged for your reproductive choices, so you know how that feels, so i don't get why anyone would do that to someone else.
if a friend of mine would want a child i'd 100% support them in this choice and would be so happy for them if it works out to get pregnant or adopting!
i'm sorry that you had a "friend" like that and i'm proud of you for standing up for you and your child and cutting them out of your life ❤️ i'm sure you're a great parent ☺️

For the asexual story- it really hit home for me. Pretty much the exact situation I’m in minus the disgusting partner and SA. I’m physically repulsed by sex to an extent that I cannot control. My partner has a much higher libido. This does cause us some frustrations but finding another asexual partner is not as easy as it seems. Especially since most asexuals aren’t sex repulsed like me. My partner and I have a deep connection but the fear of being alone forever in a world that is obsessed with sex is not worth giving up someone who loves me unconditionally. Now this is NO WHERE near what OP is experiencing. She needs to leave that man immediately. As a sex repulsed asexual what her husband has done is disgusting beyond words. That man needs to be in prison

My cat got an illness in her leg and was in agony, so we had to rush her to the vets in the middle of the biggest lockdown. The saddest bit was she knew how badly she needed help as she walked straight into her carrier when she'd normally run from it. We never saw her after we dropped her off or got to say a real good bye as they wouldn't let us in for her to be put down, and the fact she was alone in a big scary vets room with strangers makes me upset even 3 years later.

So I’m a veterinary technician and I actually run an oncology department, What breaks my heart about story 4 is that there is a direct correlation to mammary carcinoma and not spaying your dog or spaying them late, so if they would have spayed her as a puppy they could have potentially prevented the mammary carcinoma. So I guess PSA get your dogs spayed and neutered it prevents so many potential cancers down the line.

Story 4 - as a vet I'm horrified for that woman, honestly at this point I would probably try to gently convince them to put the poor dog down because if the tumor is leaking and popped up that quick it is not a good sign and probably more dangerous than the other one, doing surgery at that age in this scenario seems like a bad idea for the animal as well as a bad financial decision. Also I agree 100% please spay if you can, recent studies have shown though that the breed should definitely be taken into consideration because in some cases spaying too early can increase chances of vaginitis and/or some tumors so spaying should be case-by-case (for example it is actually no longer recommended for Golden Retriever to spay the females due to higher risk of other cancers, and for most big breeds if possible it is better to wait until they are fully grown, or at the very least after the first heat). And please please stay until the animal is asleep, I've hated the few times I had to put down a pet with no support from the owner I just felt so bad for it. I do it in 2 steps (anesthesia and then stopping the heart), and I always try and make sure people stay at least for the first one so the pet doesn't spend its last conscious minutes alone...

Story 2- getting super personal here. I had an ectopic pregnancy in November. My husband and I have been trying for years to have a baby and have not gotten anywhere. When I found out I was pregnant, we were over the moon. I started making registries literally within the week I found out and we started talking about room set ups and my diet (not meaning I would go on a fasting or anything but I'm a big girl, so I had a chance this could be high risk so I needed to be cautious of what I would be eating). And then I went to my 1st doctor's appointment and she managed to get me in for blood work and to get an ultrasound. I was so nervous and excited until my blood work came back. I had to go to the hospital on Thanksgiving. The day we were going to announce to his parents was the day to find out, and I had to stop my baby's growth. Words can not describe the amount of heartbreak I felt that I couldn't do anything to save my baby. And what was worse is that my tube still ruptured, and I had to go for emergency surgery.
If I ever had a friend ever make this kind of joke, they knew what I've been through, they would be dead to me. End of discussion.

If I were coming into a relationship where they had a kid/kids and had 50/50 or even full, I would be ecstatic that they want to be involved in their child’s life.
#4: YES! Spay, neuter, yes! And it’s so true it’s SO much better to wait until 12-18 months of age for your dog to be *hormonally developed* before that procedure! Little dogs reach that at about 6 months which is why it’s normal to spay them earlier

It’s really damaging to your identity and mental health and I think people should just not get involved where they don’t actually have a professional input 💕

Hearing gorgeous Lauren talking about her one super long neck hair no joke completely changed my self-image single-handedly 🥺 I’ve been really struggling with my body ageing recently, linked with a lot of self-worth stuff… I’d like to share my story with you one day, Morgan, as I feel I’d really appreciate your OT perspective; I have a lot of grief for the years and life I’ve lost living with an invisible disability for the past 9 years, which was only diagnosed last year. I’m finally seeing an OT and think I’m on the right track, but it’s so hard watching all my peers completely surpass me, and seeing my grey hairs already popping up in my mid-20s and my lil neck hairs etc it always reminds me that I can never go back and finish those plans that were ripped from me so quickly and with no warning. I know this was a clear ADHD overshare, but I wanted you to know how much watching both of you absolute beautiful women speak so openly and casually about such real things brings me back to earth and makes me feel that it’s all going to be okay ❤❤ maybe I’m just feeling a bit emotional today but I wanted to thank you ❤ and as I’m commenting anyway I’ll also add I’ve been listening to your podcast since you only had a handful of episodes up - through the toughest times of my life so far (I completely fell apart during the pet stories in this ep thinking about having to make the decision to put down my beautiful boy Fish - in my dp 🐈‍⬛- at the end of 2021) and it’s meant so much to see you and your channel grow, with you doing what you love. When I started listening in 2021 I was so lost but now I’ve almost finished a degree in psychology and you’ve really inspired me to continue with further education and potentially work in accessibility. As you said in a previous episode you really are touching the lives of so many people doing what you are doing with your platform - thank you again 🙏🏼 ❤

In story 1 when you're talking about the divorce and co-parenting, I think that's also what "for better or for worse" means - not just during the relationship and the good times but during the /worst/ outcome where you separate you still act with grace and love

Lauren, I know the song Speak Now and I love it.
Taylor even had a cameo in New Girl where she was a girl who ran away with the groom, because he did not want an arranged marriage with Cece.

I have arfid, and it got to the point where I was hospitalized at least once a month because I couldn’t stop throwing up and I’d choke on it and eventually blood would come up. Along with that my heart and liver were in major distress. Nobody saying anything enabled it to get worse. Eventually my boyfriend stopped not saying anything and would make comments about how little I’ve eaten and it has gotten me to eat more and gain a little weight. There’s a way to pester someone you care about into taking care of themselves, you just have to know the person well and have a good relationship with them. But giving random comments to your daughter in law (or future) is just weird. Don’t like that

I mean it’s definitely specific to the person. I have anorexia and literally any comments at all make it so much worse. They just make me angry because I already feel bad and now I feel worse for upsetting others. If everyone just ignored the concept of weight/food/etc around me it would be so much better. That being said, I am so happy that you managed to find something that worked for you and your boyfriend was there to support you. I know it’s really hard work so you should be so proud of yourself.

Watching my boxer lose the light in her eyes as she went to sleep was the hardest thing ive had to do. But she was wagging till the very last minute. I told her shes going on an adventure and she licked my face. Only 8 years old. She had aggressive cancer and there was no way to save her. She cpuldve lived another few months but she wouldve been in pain and the tumors were growing so rapidly. Little miss padme.
    He owes that dog peace.

Sometimes the best thing we can do for our dogs is be there through their very last breath and be glad we had them in our life for the short time we did

Yeah we just had to put my cat down and I was having a hard time making the "right choice" a constant state of what ifs. But when I was told that she was in pain I knew my choice was made.
