Personally, the quality of all the food at Azure is so incredible that I would pay more for it vs. going to the nasty grocery stores. I despise Wal Mart and try my very best not to spend a dollar there. We taste and see the difference of everything we buy from Azure and almost all of our food comes from them. We have been shopping from Azure for years and there is no going back!

Hi Adaline. Great video. I have used azure for years and couldn’t be happier with them. I’m not sure if you’re aware of this. Im sure you’ve realized they do run sales, but what many people don’t realize is you can capture that sales price for two months. What you need to do is while that item is currently on sale you start your next months cart and add it to that cart AND CHECK OUT. That’s very important that you check out the next months cart. Azure does not hit your form of payment until your order actually closes so it’s not affecting your budget but in order to secure a sale price say from November you start December and you check out and that secures November sale price in December as well as in November if you’ve purchased that item in November. so that helps me if I really want to bulk up my pantry on a certain item and I see it’s on sale one month. I can buy a certain quantity of it the original sale month but I can also grab some of it the next month. You can cancel at anytime but once your item is officially off sale don’t change the item in that next months cart or you loose the sale pricing. I hope that all makes sense.
Also, the cheese loaf you bought. You can get an even better price if you buy the two loaf portion assuming you didn’t buy two. It stores very well how they vac seal it and for a couple of months as it is packaged. Another way to stretch those dollars.

Wonderful vlog Adaline!!! I didn’t even think or realize the chlorine wash on so many things!! Thank you for mentioning that!!! So many good food people I follow do it because of they have issues from the foods we have access to - There seems to be an issue with sharing specifics of those issues or illnesses most All food related. I feel the bio makeup of our bodies are not the issue ( unless) it’s from food consumed by parents preconception and during gestation. So if more people would fully disclose - like the chlorine wash - it would Help so many people struggling to figure out their issues & also break the horrible food chain born health problems we have. THANK YOU!! Also one other Azure thing - The community aspect is wonderful - at truck unloading we all gather and work hand in hand to unload the truck and then help each other specifically the elderly load their vehicles🥰

First, thank you. This was a really good break-down.
The takeaway, for me, is that Azure Standard is probably a good way to shop only if you are interested in paying for "cleaner" and/or Organic (capitalized because it IS a brand). If your goal is to save money feeding a family, and aren't worried about eating "normal" food, it doesn't look like they are a good option. I'm basing this on what Adaline says here and a pretty quick browse through the site, looking at standard staples that average middle-class people buy regularly. If I'm wrong, please do explain, because I am always looking for ways to save money and eat healthy. NOTE, however, that when I say healthy I mean eating more vegetables and cooking at home and basically getting good nutritional value. I personally do not buy in to the whole Organic push or the no-gmo click. I won't argue the merits of those things because it's waisted breath, but I truly would like to know if someone like me should actually be shopping on Azure Standard.

Here in Pennsylvania we have used a PA based bulk company for years and years. However I have an Azure co-op here in the north east and many people have switched from our PA company because of quality control. Bugs, stale, inconsistent flavor profiles, and no accountability beyond FDA standards. (Azure requires the under 2% ingredients even in soaps be declared)
So even though we have a bulk company in our state Azure has been a game changer.

I've been debating for months now because I have a drop point that is probably only 5 minutes from me. But like you mentioned I live in the Lancaster area and have many Amish bulk food stores that I haven't felt it necessary yet. I can even get wheat berries at the amish stores. I grind my own for various flours because I also have a sensitivity to gluten from traditional All purpose flours. I don't find I mind it if it is freshly milled, not to mention you are getting ALL the nutrients from the berry, not just the gluten portion of the wheat. You might actually want to look into that. I have been so impressed the more i learn about grinding your own wheat. Sue Becker from Bread Beckers Podcast/RUclips is an incredible source and also a Christian.

You might be surprised at the amount of gluten that is present in products that are processed in factories that deal with gluten. I noticed a lot of difference when i switched to gluten free oats and other products that are gluten free certified or were not processed in places that deal with gluten. Montana gluten free has some great products, i suggest you take a look at their website.
Regarding the chlorine i suggest you stop using bleach and other products that contain it. I did and feel much better.
    Thank you for sharing.

I buy a 50lb bag of red potatoes from a Mennonite store for $29. I noticed they only have that size bag in the fall. I will only get my potatoes there now. Azures potatoes are to expensive. I refuse to get potatoes from the store anymore. The last bag of red potatoes I got from Sam's Club. When I rinsed them off before cooking they looked soapy. I'm like what the heck is on these that it's making the water soapy? It freaks me out. I don't get that from the Mennonite store.

It is hard to find corn starch in the USA that is not GMO bio-engineered. Most of it is imported. A combination of most field corn being GMO & the factory process of making corn starch is complicated.

I buy almost exclusively from azure and it’s just my husband and I. I find buying in bulk actually helps my grocery budget and keeps me out of the stores, which in turn helps my budget. I shop once a month (azure) with the exception of a few items that I buy local. I also keep a garden which helps too.

You are able to buy small packages and individual cans and bottles of things just like a regular store. You don't have to buy huge quantities. Azure just gives people the ability to buy large quantities if they want to. It's a lot harder to buy these quantities from a store without clearing the shelf, or the store may not have organic.

I have a small house and I just found a small area in a bedroom that’s the coolest spot or a closet & bought a couple of food grade buckets - place anything from 25 lb of flour in one to placing smaller bags of different rices left in their bags in one etc. it took about 18 months to build my bulk area - You can do it😉☺

I have not yet ordered from Azure, due to the fact you pay shipping, have to drive to a site, help unload the truck, and drive all the way home. With the time and gas involved, Azure is way out of my budget.

    • @narrowpathfarm
      @narrowpathfarm 6 месяцев назад +1

It all depends if your health depends on the food you eat. The connections you make with people who are in the same mindset as you is a major plus. It’s a community when you unload the truck. You don’t have to unload the truck. Many people just come grab their stuff and leave, but it’s fun to help others :)

I have found that having buttermilk powder, sour cream powder, tomato powder, and heavy cream powder has been worth it over the years! I primarily use tomato powder for tomato paste and I don't drink coffee with cream or anything so buying even a small pint of cream isn't worth it because usually half goes to waste. I'm not really saving any money by doing that, but I have way less waste with product and packaging. To me, thats worth it. Let us know how you like the cream cheese. I love Nancy's sour cream, (it even freezes okay) but wasn't a fan of the yogurt.
I have had very mixed results with fresh produce from Azure. I live in the Midwest and there isn't a distributor close so I think that is partly why. I do enjoy the root veggies and frozen produce options. I have never bought meat from them ... although I am looking for a good chicken source. I found a cow rancher near me but chicken is harder to find. I have used a few subscription services too but haven't found them to be any different Than trader joes or whole foods.
I have found Azure to be great for the organic bulk dry goods and many frozen veggies and organic cheeses. Produce is hit and miss - sometimes it's cheaper and sometimes whole foods is cheaper. I find produce and meat to be cheaper at Whole Foods much of the time. Those are the only things I buy from whole foods, but they are the most affordable. It is interesting to see the produce differences between youtuber azure hauls and my own.
I do also like that they have firsts and seconds as options with their produce.
