Okay, so random fact:
Pac-Man also has his own Spider-sense in Pac-Man World 3 for a small joke, the Pac-Sense
= high pitch sounds in sonic mania ost :D
Listen to the start of chemical plant zone 2!!!
Sonic wipes his nose before attacking danger in the modern games for instance before he went to dash infinite In forces
Badnik Mechanic do you have robIox I don’t know if you do but I saw a account on roblox and I thought you were my friend if you are my name is metalshardgaming
Sonic does seem to rub his nose a lot
That's a Japanese thing cocky type characters do a lot and is also deemed as sonewhat lucky
Hes not rubbing his nose hes picking it at supersonic speed
He's rolling through dirt all the time and I imagine his nose sticks out
he does it a lot in the ova
Duh

Yes.
Egg man:NANI????????
The Sonic OVA shows Sonic scratching his nose when he confronts Metal Sonic at the glaciers
Yeah I was thinking about that too 😂
He's actually quite seen scratching or rubbing his nose! When talking to Eggman, as example
i was thinking the same thing
Isn’t that just him being snarky
if he can sense danger it isnt him being snarky. i mean, there is active molten lava inside of the glaciers
When hedgehogs feel threatened, or in danger, they tend to do some sort of little sneeze when they puff up their quills. I think it might have to do with that. (Source: me trying to pet one)
I died thats so cute
Aw
Well then, there you have it folks. Case closed: no further questions. :) 👍

Lol
Wait you mean that Sneeze in Sonic CD meant something?
Yes, MLG OVA Sonic
Sonic fan forgot my Gumball eyes
Sonic fan Also I use the MLG Glasses because I couldn’t find good Pixel Glasses that would fit OVA Gumball eyed Sonic
I could've sworn it was just a double take
Actually, fans have thoerised it could've been used in an unused cutscene when Metal steals Amy in Collision Chaos.
You see, Metal appears behind sonic, from the start of the stage, to kidnap Amy, who stands in front of them. Just before Metal appears, Sonic would sneeze. Pretty cute, eh?
Eggman: **Kills Everyone, Pisses on The Moon**
Sonic: **s n e e z e**
obama you idiot!!
Nice reference.

Fun Fact : Eggman said in an annoucement that Shadow is a bitch ass motherfucker and that he pissed on is wife
Sonic's idle animation in Sonic Advance has him looking over his shoulder, sneezing, and prompting the player onward.
Rhythm Raccoon I just checked, and I think that’s more of an exasperated sigh because of the scribble that appears over his head after the air puff, but good catch nonetheless^^
@@jomon324 I think you're right, but it still just looks like a sneeze to me. It always has! ;)
@@rhythmraccoon8351 Good catch, it's so hard to find these small details within all those games.
That'd actually make sense, if the player isn't moving, the time is running out, and if it does, well, Sonic dies.
@@koldblaze6610 That's not strictly true. Sonic Advance is the first of the 2D games to allow the player to disable time overs, but Sonic's animation doesn't change.
A true G R E A T E S T S O N I C F A N would know about the unused sprites from Sonic CD where Sonic sneezes. No matter what situation it is, he will still remember about that.

Yeah I heard it from a CyberShell video
Well, in Sonic and the Secret Rings, he did have a bad cold at the beginning and sneezed a lot. In the events that followed, he nearly died from a giant razor. Coincidence?
Sneezed a lot? But he sneezed only 2 times...
This is my favorite scene from all of the Secret Rings scenes tho :D
I THINK NOT!
Hmmm.
And Wished for Infinite HankerCheifs
I love this Sonic Sneeze idea.
It's a subtle way for a character to be alerted of danger.
I always thought he sneezed in the intro. The nose rubbing may be a left over trait. He actually caught a cold before the beginning of sonic and the secret rings, possibly a response to the adventure he would go on soon.
I used to wonder why Sonic always wiped his nose with his finger all the time.
Xd
Kirbysmith64 that’s supposed to be a cocky/confident trait in Japan, not from him sneezing
how come snot didn't come out of his nose when 06 came out
I thought it was a taunt like saying “you’re weak” or that “all you got?”
That is the cutest rendition of a danger-sensing power I've ever seen.
In the games when Sonic gets hit, He sneezes so hard that he loses his rings
XDD
Pfffffffffffttttttttttttt
That would explain why Sonic scratches his nose every once in a while confronting a villain.
I know its cocky in Japan. But it still doesnt refute that sonic could be holding in a sneeze.
Did he sneeze before Sonic 06 came out?
Yup.
I get it, lol.
Well in the OVA when he’s fighting Metal on the glacier he scratches his nose...
He also sneezed when Sonic Boom came out
He had a VERY bad cold in 2005.
This is such a clever, cute, and bizarre character trait for a character like Sonic. I wish this quirk would have more mainstream attention.
You sir have blown this 31year old sonic fan that had no idea this existed! 🤩 is such a great power really that would make up so much more character if kept and provides an interesting danger sense 👍

The CD Opening/Ending has some of the best screen captures, in terms of quality.
@@rubenimun i agree
Perhaps Sonic's cold in the secret rings is another reference to this ability. He begins to sneeze once Shahra shows up, and references that he has been feeling ill lately.
Interestingly enough, if they did have this ability in mind, Sonic had the book of the Arabian Nights in his home. Erazor Djinn was already wiping the pages clean and his bout of sneezing was possibly him sensing the imminent danger.
And according to Sonic rivals 2 he can even climb walls
In sonic runners he has a triple jump
The metallic Hedgehog In Sonic Colors he has infinite amounts of jumps underwater, so he can also technically swim
In Sonic Colors normal Sonic also has unlimited jumps underwater
Nobody mentioned the insta shield yet even though we all know it
I just remembered: Hyper Sonic! 😀

"Who is tickling Sonic's nose?

"Who is Sonic giving flowers?
To Sally Acorn"
"How does Sonic play bowling?
With his spindash" (I'm assuming that is what's written there)
You didn't know you needed this
But you needed this
It's not cannon but in sonic and the secret rings somewhere in the game it tells the player that sonic's quills warn him of danger
It's a rather minuscule ability that he has.
Sonic: Wonder what my fanbase looks like
*S N E E Z E*
Very underrated and clever comment.
Perhaps this explains how he is able to run at the speed of sound without immediately running into walls or tripping over loose pebbles? Sorta like how the spider-sense is what allows Spider-Man to shoot his webbing at places that are actually able to handle his weight.
Now that I think about it, there's multiple times where Sonic rubs his nose when confronting an enemy. I thought maybe he was just doing it to show he didn't care, but now that I've seen this . . . I wanna believe this XD
Thanks for this video
I think It's a fun little "power" or sixth sense. As sneezing makes you pretty much defensless, It's as if your body just stops to sneeze. So at the same time as being warned, he's completely vulnerable making it a remarkably balanced abillity.
That Danone sticker of Sonic sneezing is, some how in portuguese and it's saying " Who did tickles to Sonic's nose?"
I think it was a thing here in Brazil during the 90's
According to Sonic Boom he can also generate electricity
And the movie
That makes sense in the way other speeders use their power.
Moving Hand Studios
That’s a Boom-only thing. Not canon.
@@austinreed7343 excuse me but Boom is canon

HOLY CACK. Soon as you said Sonic CD I suddenly put it together. I'd always thought that was just an example of one of those things you get in a lot of anime action sequences where they snap slightly too quickly between extreme poses that don't quite make sense if you're not used to the style. It's the one bit of the intro I didn't like!
YOU'VE SOMEHOW IMPROVED THE SONIC CD INTRO IN MY ESTIMATIONS and I never thought that could happen
*sneezes*
"Oh? You're approaching me?"
I CAN’T BELIEVE I NEVER NOTICED HIM SNEEZING IN THE CD INTRO
Awh! I knew nothing about this super power! I think it’s adorable, and SEGA should definitely bring it up more in the games or comics :) Thanks for this great piece of lost media!
And to think, I've watched at least 3 of "top 10 things about sonic you didn't know" and not one of them mentioned sneezing.
That being said, I think that's a really great character trait, and it'd be interesting to see it incorporated (subtly, I think the subtleness makes it more appealing) into a modern game or tv show. Lots of people "internally sneeze" so it's totally plausible (and in character) that Sonic would keep his sneezes to himself and there'd only be a tiny bit of animation reacting to at least almost sneezing.
So Sonic sneezes whenever danger approaches? That's so freaking adorable!
Imagine this in modern games. Maybe he would have a cute sneeze, and a sheepish, embarrassed smile afterwards while he rubbed the back of his head.
And then boss shows up.
I think you've dethroned CyberShell as the definitive Sonic Lore Master.

This probably comes from the Japanese belief that if you sneeze, someone is speaking about you behind your back.
Yeah, that makes sense because Sonic the Hedgehog was made by Japanese developers.
That's a thing in western culture too, isn't it? I know I've heard the folklore (is that the term? eh whatever) that sneezing means that someone is talking about you since I was a kid, and I wasn't exactly a worldly child.
"make sure to use your Sonic tingle" "DON'T CALL IT THAT"
Sonic probably never actually lost the power, he's just gained more control over it with time. So now, instead of sneezing, he can just invisibly sense it when danger approaches. His reaction time is shown many times to be incredibly fast in cutscenes. This could be explained by him still having this sense, but no longer expressing it outwardly by sneezing.
He also actually has a sort of danger sense in the games recently as well. For example, while being chased from behind in the games such as Sonic Unleashed, Colors, Generations, and Lost World, he is able to dodge incoming lasers and projectiles without turning his head backward to look. This makes sense to the player because they can see the incoming danger. From Sonic's perspective however, it's unlikely he could pull this off without some sort of super sense.
Hyper Sonic. The original ultra instinct.
Lol
*Kenshiro:* What did you say? 😑
@BHowardify Dark Super Sonic isn't canon though.🤔
@BHowardify They say "unlimited ammo" but they forget to mention the ring count.
Oh shit, what if Sonic has a sneezing fit at the beginning of Secret Rings because he can feel that Sharha will betray him?
Badnick: Eggman! I'm close behind the hedgehog, and he's dummy thicc, but the sense of his sneezing keeps alerting my presence.
Note: sonic himself doesn't know that he is also Nicky.
Imagine how many times he would've sneezed in school.

Yes, that be great!
they should add hilltop zone in sonic mania 2
I actually never noticed the sneeze in CD. I always thought his head was jerking forward due to the inertia from the sudden stop. Looking at it that slowly, it's surreal to notice that he is in fact sneezing. Let alone that it's a very obscure ability I never knew about. I've watched the opening animation dozens of times and never saw that. It's cool to see something new in something so familiar.
Hmmm suddenly Sonic having a cold in secret rings makes a lot of sense
Sonic: "My danger sense is ting... ATCHOO!"
Bless you, Sonic.
Being the elemental of wind, that make sense Sonic has this power!
0:22 And movie sonic has the power of ugliness

Next year at SXSW during the Q&A
Holy shit, I NEVER thought that was a sneeze until you slowed it down!
I thought he was just surprised to see the Death Egg.
Holy shit, my mind is actually fuckin BLOWN!
I'm pretty sure Sega and sonic know that he has this power but I think they just don't view Eggman as a threat...
Hello.

I want 1
Lol
Sure!!
How much??
27 sonic sneezing plushes please!
You forgot to mention sonic and the secret rings since in game he was sneezing I know he was sick but it could have showed the level of danger
Technically in Secret Rings, he sneezes when he meets Shahra. And the original plan on that game was to have him collect the world rings for Erazor. So that's 2 games I guess
That's honestly so cute of s concept, I'd love for this to have stuck around
Didn't it in Frontiers?
Nicky the Hedgehog is most cute character in all of unofficial Sonic canon.
Wait, was Nicky referenced to by Hipster Sonic in the Sonic Boom cartoon?
Was there another reference in Sonic Forces with the custom character reveal?
Sonic sneezed a bunch in the intro cutscene to Secret Rings. He knew there was danger before he jumped into that book.
I wasnt aware Sonic was sneezing in the Sonic CD intro
According to Sonic Boom he can also generate fire and burn without burning himself
This would be a really useful mechanic for 2D games, as least for first run throughs. Normally we run into stuff because we're moving so fast and don't have too much time to react to what shows up on the right of the screen, so it'd be really cool if there was a subtle sneezing animation as well as an arrow pointing off screen showing when there's gonna be a spike trap waiting for you.
I think the worst part of all this is the fact that, in all of these examples, no one is with sonic to say "Bless you" to him
I never knew this about Sonic. So interesting!
Thank you so much for creating these awesome videos. Ever since I discovered your channel, I’ve been hooked on them. I love your cheerful personality and humble, down-to-earth nature!

You fucking got me man. I've seen the Sonic CD opening ever since I was 5 and I never realized that he was sneezing, I just thought he was taken aback by what he saw. I even said outloud "ITS A SNEEZE?!" You absolutely got me, good stuff.

Thats what i thought this was
Well all i know is that Insert that CD pic You are cool and that one enemy from collision chaos would make sonic sneeze you know the one with the sparkle dusk
It’s so obscure that not even Mania knows about it.
Not even Generations and Mania combined know about it.
Motobug: *approaches sonic*

Motobug: well now his animal friends know to run away.
When you first brought up Sonic's ability to sneeze when he senses danger - his sixth sense - I was skeptical, even after all the evidence you first laid out. Post cards? One of them mention Sally Acorn who isn't officially canon, so why would I pay attention to him sneezing in front of a Badnik that he could destroy in less time than it takes for him to sneeze? Sonic Jam? Who remembers that anyway?
It wasn't until you played the Sonic CD cutscene on the other hand, and slowed it down, that I finally noticed after all this time. And when I did, I was dying laughing. Like, *WHAT?!* THAT WAS THERE THE WHOLE TIME AND I NEVER NOTICED?! So, Sonic has a sixth sense, and his version of it is sneezing. While I'm not sure how useful that would be if we're trying to be stealthy sneaky, that is so incredibly cool and unbelievably funny.
It is actually not far-fetched of an idea at all. I believe that most, if not everyone in this world has a sixth sense to some degree. I have one myself, as I can quite literally feel the presence of another person even when I'm not touching, seeing, or hearing them, and every now and then I have dreams which give me a glimpse of future events. When I wake up and experience those future events, I'm immediately hit by a wave of deja vu and go 'oh wow: I dreamt about this.' Animals most definitely have a sixth sense too - that is beyond any doubt. Sometimes it manifests itself in the form of sneezing. I see no reason why Sonic couldn't and shouldn't have this ability.
And he even reads too. Sonic and I have a lot more in common than I thought, and that is really nice. I hope Sega recognizes this at some point in the future and brings it back. I'm already taking notes. Who knows what else is out there that this blue guy can actually canonically (or sensibly) do that we've forgotten about? Good show man. Cool find. 🤣🤣👍
_(Oh and btw, take another look at that CD cutscene where he sneezes; Sonic has a neck confirmed :)_
He rubs his nose in modern games right? So maybe he found a way to control it?
I Wish He Had The Sneezing Sense In Sonic Prime
Sonic literally is rubbing his nose like all the time, that has to be a bit of lore, in the sonic movie that came out around 1998, I’m not exactly sure when but when he fights metal sonic right before they fight he rubs his nose intensely, I think that’s a little detail too
The only thing I have in mind when you said he sneezes is Secret Rings' first scene. XD
7:14 i just noticed he did the drop dash
I wonder why they got rid of it,it was pretty unique for a character to sneeze before danger approaches and I think sonic is the only character that had that ability kinda unfair to get rid of it
This was a surprisingly interesting video to watch! It's amazing that you found all those references (I never even noticed the sneeze in Sonic CD). But now that you mention it, there is one thing that could also be a small reference to this power.
In the Sonic OVA movie, Sonic rubs his nose when encountering Metal Sonic before their battle, and Metal mimics the action. The "nose rub" is therefore presented as some kind of characteristic associated with Sonic. Maybe the animators didn't animate an actual sneeze because it would have affected the way Sonic reacted to things and made certain elements of the movie less surprising, because the sneeze would give away that danger was coming, but the "nose-rub" was added to show that Sonic was likely trying to contain a sneeze because he was already aware that a crisis was coming.
There may be other references in the movie that I'm not sure about, but I can't think of any from the top of my head. It seems to also be a primarily Japanese thing. Western/USA Sonic and Japan Sonic were two very different individuals; in the USA, Sonic was marketed as cool and rebellious, particularly with the cartoons that were coming out such as SatAM and Underground. In Japan, Sonic was meant to be more of a cute character until they adopted the US version. Sneezing is probably seen as something "cute". The sneeze power would have gradually faded away into obscurity along with other aspects of early-90s Japan Sonic.
He sneezes in one of the early cutscenes of Sonic and the Secret Rings and wishes for the genie character to give him handkerchiefs, so maybe it wasn't forgotten about entirely? Unsure if this is a coincidence.
