What a great idea, using your scraps to 'level out the foot'. I have your satin foot and have used it extensively for doing edge stitching; people always remark on how 'even' my topstitching is; can hardly wait to make these bowl cozies. Thanks for all your clever ideas Clare.
Watching you encourages me to use your feet more often. Have had them since the days of Chlotilda catalogue days. They are of course holding up well. 😍
How do ou decide on the 3" on the folded part. What is the math formula for that. I didn't understand in your print out directions where it talked about your measurement "B" to decide how far to go over on the folder side. Thank you.
It would add bulk and absorbability. I feel like it would weigh it down so it would lose its shape. Additionally the needle would be challenged in the final steps.
It doesn't start a fire. Cotton is the fiber that spontaneously combusts. The Polyester is a plastic so it melts when it is caught within a fire. But does not just catch fire, like Cotton. I can site the science for you. You'll see the links to understand the fire science in the description of this video I created to help clear up confusion ruclips.net/video/vvruBHXUfGo/видео.html

Thank you Clare. Lots of extra information, as always, very helpful.

Thank You!😁💖
Excellent! Thank you !
I have used these for years and never had a problem with one catching on fire. I use only 100% cotton to make mine.

Awesome idea!😁💖
Would terry cloth fabric be a good alternative to use in a bowl cozy instead of batting?
It would add bulk and absorbability. I feel like it would weigh it down so it would lose its shape. Additionally the needle would be challenged in the final steps.
Please remember that polyester is an oil based product. Polyester fabric, thread or batting. It melts quickly and could easily start a fire.

Lots of microwave dishes are made of plastic too. Polyester on its own will not melt in a microwave.
