    I’ve made hundreds as gifts and stocking stuffers. I made a cardboard template from a cereal box that allows me to draw the darts on each fabric half after the corner to corner stitch is made. So much easier than measuring and marking each 4 darts otherwise everything else shown in your video is the same. Add a matching fabric loop. I make the Coozies in different sizes and matching fabrics for those people who want them to coincide with their cooking and serving dishes! Big bowls need protection too!

    I just started making these. I have made several sizes but I find that the most versatile size is starting with an 11” square. Also don’t cut the darts off. Cut the darts on the fold and press open because that causes less bulk and makes it easier to sew.

    • @valerieclark5064
      @valerieclark5064 6 лет назад +2

      I also cut the darts open, but I trim the batting from the excess dart fabric and grade the corners to help with bulk.

      Lori, use 10" squares but sew with a 1/4" seam all the way around. Leave a 2" opening. After turning inside out, sew around the entire bowl cozy with a 1/8"seam. I hope this helps.

    I tried making one, too small. Need to be at least 14 inches in size on all sides for a soup bowl to sit nicely . Overall it worked out good.

      It totally depends on the size of your bowl. Too small for some bowls might have been a better description. Works perfect for my soup bowls.

      Lord, child, if you need a 14" square, you must be feeding a very large person. My 750 ML bowl fits perfectly in the 10" cozy, and is all the soup I want at one sitting. But a graduated size set IS a good idea for king-size people.

    I'm definitely making these. I'm always grabbing a towel or potholder for my bowl. Plus these will make great padding for the bowls in the camper.

    Like this for how concise yet detailed it is.
    I sell these using tea towels and upcycle other fabrics....perfect for hot AND cold bowls. Ice cream ideal for kids in bowl cosies at picnics and equally usefull for eating soup , pasta dishes, and hot deserts.
    A truly versatile make!

    I found the one and only video I need to watch. It was fantabulous! And P.S., now that I'm making these, I made a 1" x 2" triangular template out of spare foam board that I had. Saved me from measuring over and over - though that was great to see it this way to keep it uncomplicated.

      @@TodayweCraftToday made 6 more. Some of my fabrics were thicker so found an open seam of 2 1/4” worked better for turning 🥰
