Man, really love how in-depth you are with your comparisons! I got them, but they're just not for me; they have this very slight 'tick' sound to them (possibly from the leaf?).
Yes they do have a slight tick sound. It's not quite as clean as some other tactile or linear switches. However, I think it is more noticeable because of the SA profile keycaps. On the OEM or cherry profile it's not as noticeable.
So I have the Kiwis and I can report I hear the leaf crunch (or tick) as well as the rattle sound, although I am using them stock. I have lubed and filmed Durock T1s (another JWK tactile like the Kiwis) and it didn't fix the rattle sound. I don't have this issue with Tangie switches, though that's probably due to it being linear.
I went looking for these answers, and WOW was I surprised by the quality of this video. Very informative. Thank you for taking the time to put this together for the community!
just found this video after i recieved my kiwi switches. the amount of work and dedication you put into just these switches alone is amazing. keep up the great work
you went really in depth with the extensive sound test and i love that! great video edit: my favorite bottom out sound was with 3204 and deskey films, but the top out sounds was quite annoying :(
I think you should have included one where you lube the bottom housing, stem, and spring since that's how a lot of ppl lube their switches. Also, switch sounds different based on their position on the board, so your method might not be that "scientific" in terms of limiting variables. But overall great video, keep it up!
Thanks for this video! very informative. I like the sound where the top, bottom & stem are lubed. I just installed SA susuwatari on the same keyboard. I wonder if I installed the foam, it will reduced the rattled sound
Yes I made a separate video on foam modding the GK68XS keyboard. The foam helps quite a bit, otherwise all the rattling sounds will be amplified. Also using a desk mat helps quite a bit. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the video! Very informative and I like that you compared different switch films and different lube with each other! As has been said, it would be awesome to have these sound test done on the same spot with the same caps over and over again and cutting them accordingly afterwards. What did you think of the switch films? Can you say whether for which application TX films are better than Deskeys and vice versa? Same question for Krytox 205g0 and Tribosys 3204. Keep up the good work!
Thabk you for the comparisons. For the switches, did you lube the springs as well? When I first heard the rattling sound within my switches I immediately considered it spring ping. Do you think it's a different part of the switch that is causing the issue?
Yes all springs were lubed with Krytox 107 (very similar to 105). I think mainly lubing where the stem makes contact with the top /bottom housing and the films make a huge difference to reduce the rattling.
Hey, thanks for this very helpful video! I'm rather new to this hobby and I'm looking for a tactile switch that I could lube in the future, but dont have to. At 7:22 you mentioned that you're going to do a seperate video where you compare the feeling of Kiwis, Koalas and some other switches. Right now I actually struggle deciding between buying the Kiwis on Tuesday or the Koalas. Could you please give me a short summary of how these compare? (tactile bump, roundness, stem wobble, smoothness, consistency, sound and noticable spring ping) Remember, I'd like to have a good stock switch... This would actually be SOOO helpful! I'd love to hear from you asap!
Hey man great video! I see you’re using an H4N handy recorder for your sound tests, do you mind me asking which settings you’re using and if you still do post processing for your audio? Thanks and keep it up!
Thank you! I am using the 24 bit 96 Khz setting. Using the standard dual mic array angled at 90 degrees. To keep the sound as clean as possible for you to hear, the only post processing I did was adjust the gain. No filters or anything. Some of my other videos may have a low pass filter to get rid of a little thumping coming from the mic being placed directly on my desk while I type.
This video couldn’t have been better, keep up this amazing content man! quick question though: i’m interested in that switch opener you used in the video, could you let me know where you got it? Thanks again for this video, I recently got my switches in the mail and I couldn’t be more excited after watching this vid.
Putting the switches in different positions affects the sound quite a bit, so this test doesn't tell the full story. You need to put the different switches in the same spot on the keyboard to do these comparisons.
Thanks for the feedback. I did notice that in my testing as well. It is hard to compare them side by side if I have to reslot the switch every time, but I will keep that in mind for the next comparison video.

Wow, best comparison. Very in-depth and information.
Let's flood this man with subs and likes
Thank you!
this was a really good review, I've watched a few videos reviewing this switch and you're the only one who highlights the issue of the rattle sound.
Thanks, really appreciate the comment!

The trouble with this sound test is the position of the alphas, which has a huge impact overall, especially the closer you get to that backslash key.
Very nice and informative video. One of the best switch reviews i've seen so far. Keep it up!
Instant subscribe! Thank you. My kiwis arrive this week and was about to leave them stock. Great review!
give me a review do you like em?
@@ammo1571 I'll let you know as soon as they arrive
Thank you!

the krytox sounds best imo, do you have to remove the stock lube first though?

Great video! Thank you for all those experiments
I liked the trybosis 3204 with deskeys films, I think that is what I am going for
Very cool. I’m glad it helped you!

@@prosive thanks for this! Amazing content for real 😁
Curious how the sound profile of the full board kiwi switches has changed over time, if at all? Thanks for the videos!
Wish i saw this before i ordered tx films and krytox cos now i wish i got deskeys and tribosys😐 but ty!! Great video :)

I really appreciate your support on the channel, and hope you enjoy the switches! The opener I used is here: thekey.company/products/mx-switch-opener

I'm really regretting getting 205g0 for the kiwis that i ordered. I should've bought tribosys 3204 instead=( But there's nothing I can do about it
Awesome video! Great info!
amazing video,underated yt!
how many pins do they have?
The 3204 sounds like perry the platypus to me💀
where did you get the keycaps from? asking for a friend...
Ducky cotton candy keycaps. Got them from mechanicalkeyboards.com
@@prosive thanks..
Full lube 3024 with deskeys wins it for me
Also your left shift stab is rattly af
