Pro tip: Keep the type of switch you’re using up for the entirety of the typing tests. Makes it much more useful when going back to reference the video.
Gateron cj’s are smoother stock than a lubed tangie and sound is preference but to me they have a nicer deeper sound to them. Tangies are a good switch but cj’s improve on them in a lot of ways
great video! i personally love my lubed kiwi's. the snappiness of the upstroke feels so good to me while typing. i do have big heavy fingers, and the feedback they give is just perfect for me
I like the dragon fruits a lot. Films plus lightly lubing the spring and sides of the stem eliminated the wobble and gives a great sound. My daily driver is 67g tangies filmed and lubed with 205g0 and they sound and feel like heaven.
The Kiwis' sound improves vastly with some film. Strangely, mine don't sound like yours but sound depends on so many things (keycaps, case, plate, etc).
Your vids are so refreshing, I love your depth of critisism and attention to details, and that you recommend better alternatives, big thanks from a noob in Sweden!
Lelelab y2k are manufactured by same company and are a sort of lemon neon version if we're going with the fruit theme. They are interesting in that if your a fan of gold and yellow they in fact seem to enrich many of the colors on the rgb of every board I've tried them in. You won't really have certain colors but you'll also have pretty colors unobtainable without them. 70gf tactile I think but supposedly a plus minus of 20gf. Not sure if it's accurate , I got many thinking I would need to try each one and categorize them but they consistently feel like snappy genuine 70g switches, Ive got zealous, Durock et al tactile s to validate the weighting against.
Romsicle I have a question to ask you. Recently my typing was a bit rusty because I have 81 wpm at around 93% accuracy. Is there any way I can improve my typing up to at least 120 wpm? Is there anything I need to improve myself or, is it my switches cause I'm using the Steelseries apex 7 Red Linear Switches? Btw, great content man, just watching this video made me subscribe and like the video :).
That's pretty good! My tip is to just keeping practicing accuracy first! So try to go for 100% accuracy when typing. Once your fingers and brain are able to get accuracy down, you can start slowly increasing your speed to get to 120. I think it took me around 6 months from your speed to 120WPM. Happy typing!
Interesting that you said that lubed Gateron Yellows were as good as the Tangerines. That's what I'm using right now and I like them, but the common opinion is that they are entry level switches. Guess that I should lube and film them before looking at other switches...
I got tangerine and dragon fruit, is the kiwi different enough from from the dragon fruit. Also the lelelab y2k May as well be in the same group as these three switches because it's the same Manufaxturer and all the same type of features heavier tho. Y2k too housing on dragonfruit looks pretty wild. What your saying about the rgb interference isn't exactly the whole story does it interfere, yes of course they all do. Is this bad? This is subjective. With dragon fruit and y2k switches it adds a very interesting color alteration to a lot of colors esp when it's a color close to the switch housing color. The tangerine didn't see to color my rgb.
This video sold me on the kiwis. Now that I have them in a board, just wanted to say thank you. I think thocc sounds hollow and kind of like you are typing on a membrane keyboard. It's just not for me. I love the clacky sound of tangerines and kiwis. You made a mistake not filming then though. I think all jwk's sound like trash without films.
Thanks for this comparison. Would you say the Tealios are the go to if smoothness and sound is both important? (Only linear) The money is secondary because I will be using them for a long time. :)
@@drsteee I'd say they're pretty much the same smoothness once you lube them properly. And if you break them in, there's like almost no difference. IMO, self lube is better than factory lube in terms of sound.
Dragonfruits are a rejected linear attempt. They wobbled so much they could not sell them.. hence why you can still get them and they are almost always in sale.. lol
@@minno9491 Personally they’re my favorite tactile switches to use. So far after using them for awhile there hasn’t been too much or noticeable wobble for me. ^^* Though up to you if you want to give it a try at them! The sound is pretty nice
@@minno9491 they are not that bad.. just about average as a mainstream switch. Filming them does reduce housing wobble. Buy 10 and give them a go. Every kb pcb and case sounds different, a thocky switch in one does not mean the same in another.
Man this dude just doesn't need backspace

the color of the backlight indicated the switches that were being used
Great comparison! Tangies really are my top 1 linears. They just sound good and so smooth out of the box
@adam bebe it only helps a tiny bit but out of the box tangerines are so smooth
Gateron cj’s are smoother stock than a lubed tangie and sound is preference but to me they have a nicer deeper sound to them. Tangies are a good switch but cj’s improve on them in a lot of ways
Why not lube them though. Costs an extra $10 and few hours and is very worth
Those tangerine housings look so good

I have them and they are great

You should try 3203 and/or 3204 for tactiles
did you hear about the recall of these switches if bought during a certain period?
edit: should have waited to comment this...
🤣

I just got kiwis too lol
Great video, really helpful!
I don’t think you use krytox for tactile switches
You can! It just depend on the switch of how much it'll affect it.
What PCB are you using? Awesome video

Nice. When can we expect your gmmk pro plate sound test comparison video to drop? Looking foreword to it.
Real soon. I need to do some stock sound tests on some other switches first then I'll be working on it.
I'm not sure but I think that the banana splits are also a part of the fruity line
It technically isn't because it's a dessert LOL and also because it's completely different housing material.

I would agree with that conclusion. Link's already in the description :)

@@drsteee It'll be better to take it off and then re-lube. Mixing lubes doesn't always give good results.
If you want the same feel as tangerines you can go with lubed yellows? Wot?
I use both kiwis and tangles on my board. I really want the clicky version I think called blackberry?
comparing a dollar switch compared to a 60 cent switch is a pretty big difference
How loud are the kiwis? On a scale of blue to not blue
If 10 is a blue, and 1 is a not blue, it's a 3-4
what plate are you using for this?
Hey what typing test/wpm test do you use??
I bought kiwis only to realize when they came that my keyboard doesn't have the spots for the pins on the bottom
At least you can cut the extra legs off...or get a new PCB😂
@@Romsicle my keyboard does not have any holes at all so I would have to take all the pins.
What about banana splits?
lubing the leaf springs on the tactile switches makes me sad
loved the vid!
Boba u4t is pretty good
Yes.
Excuse me ? It turns out you forgot about banana split swicthes ?
Bananas aren’t fruit they are meat
banana *splits* they are deserts not fruit
