  • In this video we will take an in depth look at the SUPER Luxurious Lexus ES300h. This amazing 40 mpg sedan could take you and 4 friends from NYC to ATL for less than $50!!!
    Check out www.howtocarguy.com
    Overview
    One powertrain is available in the 2017 ES 300h, a 2.5-liter I-4 coupled to an electric motor with a total system output of 200 hp. An electronic continuously variable transmission (eCVT) is the only gearbox available. The EPA has yet to release the fuel economy rating for the 2017 model, but the 2016 was rated at 40/39 mpg city/highway, making it one of the most fuel-efficient luxury sedans available today.
    Due to the additional hybrid powertrain components, the ES 300h has less cargo space than the gas-only ES 350, at 12.1 cubic feet. Split-folding rear seats aren’t available on any model in the Lexus ES lineup. Available options include a navigation system with mouse-like controls, the Lexus Enform suite of apps, a 15-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system, Bluetooth, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry/start, a rearview camera, and LED headlights.
    Safety
    NHTSA gave the 2017 Lexus ES 300h a five-star overall safety score (out of a possible five stars). In IIHS testing, the car received the Top Safety Pick+ award in 2016 after it earned a Good score on all crash tests (Good is the highest possible score) and a Superior rating on the forward collision prevention and mitigation test. In that test, the Lexus ES 300h avoided a 12-mph and 25-mph collision. In the IIHS’ new headlight safety test, the ES 300h received an Acceptable rating.
    The Lexus Safety System+ adds adaptive cruise control, intelligent high beam headlights, lane departure warning with steering assist, pedestrian detection, and the Pre-Collision System, which combines forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking.

    We've owned one in (Gray Nebula Pearl) for a few months now and we LOVE it. The combination of style and luxury, with the legit 40 MPG is phenomenal. So very happy with our choice.

      They pretty much are. They changed the design in 2019. The 2017 and 2018 are pretty much unchanged from one year to the next.

    Just traded my August 2015 Subaru Forester XT with a used December 2016 ES300h as family car while still having my GTR to enjoy the best of both worlds in the world's most expensive country to a car. My second Lexus now, had the GS300 from 2003 to 2009. Had a Mercedes E class and BMW 730Li and was frustrated with them so I told myself I have yo get a Lexus again. Thanks for this!

    In nearly 3 years, my Toyota Avalon Hybrid's (same platform & engine) mpg has risen from 39 to 42. I would have bought the Lexus, but it didn't offer heated rear seats like the Avalon. Still, great cruising, comfortable vehicles.

      Try running in eco mode

    • @losiglowful
      @losiglowful 4 года назад +7

      When anticipating a stop, begin breaking far in advance rather than breaking hard right before stopping. The battery can only draw so much power from the traction motor during braking. If you break real hard, you are not going to be able to capture all of that energy whereas if you break lighter in advance, the motor will be able to provide a lower amperage to the battery which it can more easily accept. If driving on roads at 45 miles per hour or less, accelerate modestly up to speed then ease up on the pedal until EV mode kicks in. Then go easy on the throttle so it stays in EV mode. also, when in neighborhoods and parking lots, manually turn on EV mode and go easy on the throttle which will keep the car running on battery power only.
      I average about 42 MPG 50/50 highway and city. As high as 45 MPG. Have never gotten less than 40.

    Need an honest opinion, 2010 HS 250h for 10k or 2013 CT 200h Premium for 15k. I not a sporty racing guy, just need a car to go to work and back, maybe long trips once in a while to vacations, but mostly something for daily normal use.

    • @tundecrown6141
      @tundecrown6141 6 лет назад

      I'm trying to choose between these options you mentioned. I'm not a sporty guy as well but I think I'll go with the CT 200H. The HS 250H looks looks weird to me and it doesn't have a good MPG compared to the other two

    Whoever could imagine 2017-18 would be the "good old days?" In 2023 with throttled US/Canadian extraction and the Kremiln apparently dictating our pump prices (according to our Prez, not me) $44 may get you to Chicago if you're lucky, no further.
