I've never used a bread machine ... but I've made bread and it is close to the best thing in the world when you smell that bread then cut it warm and watch the salted butter melt on it, YUM, now I want some homemade bread and Yes I want some of that bread right now. Congratulations on your first loaf, it looked amazing.

This inspired me to go make some bread in my $10 thrift store bread machine. They all work the same. Almost done baking now. House smells terrific. Couple of tips: remove the pan first. Fill it with hot water and let it sit while you gather the other ingredients. This preheats the pan. Dump out all the water before you add back the one cup you need. Add the water and other ingredients with the pan out of the machine. Put the pan in only once you have loaded everything. You don't want to load ingredients in the machine. It risks spills. Add your oil to the water, not at the end. You can also use shortening or palm oil or whatever

I've been making my own bread for many years now. I presently have a Hitachi bread machine, which Is now quite old, but makes excellent bread. When adding ingredients to the pan, I always have it out of the machine. This way you will not spill flour and the like into the cooking area, which is not so easy to clean out. A very good video, and the bread looks delicious!

      Your cooking shows are wonderful!
To prevent the blade (paddle) from being baked into the bread and tearing the bread when removed, take the dough ball out of the machine before the last rise and remove the paddle from the dough.
Replace the dough back into the machine and it will still rise perfectly.
Thank you for giving me great ideas in preparing food.

I was gifted this model as a birthday present but haven’t used it yet. Honestly, the recipe for basic bread in grams totally threw me for a loop, and I didn’t know if I could use other recipes. Your video has alleviated my hesitation and now I can’t wait to try some recipes tomorrow. Thank you so much for sharing!

I've used a bread machine for a few years. I learned to put the ingredients in the vessel and then put in the machine. I like the dough function best, then bake in regular pan.

We have a Breadman bread maker with the fruit and nut feature and that's the one thing I don't use, never was a fan lol. The one thing I actually do love is when the bread bakes the paddle folds flat so it doesn't get stuck in the bread...the little things lol. Awesome video Rick

    Breadman:
I found 100% whole wheat bread recipe for 1 1/2 lb. loaf.
I haven't tried it but the recipe looks legit.
    Water: 3/4 cup
    Milk: 3/4 cup
    Unsalted butter: 2Tbsp
    Molasses: 1/4 cup
    Salt: 1 3/4 tsp
    Whole wheat flour: 4 cups
    Vital wheat gluten: 3 Tbsp
Bread machine yeast:3 tsp (this is the type yeast I use.)
My machine has a whole wheat program and that's what I will use.
I can't make this today because I don't have enough whole wheat flour nor do I have vital wheat gluten. I'll get this stuff and make the bread tomorrow.
This recipe actually comes from bread man recipe book I was shocked that I could even find it.

    • @smtaz7631
      @smtaz7631 5 лет назад

      I baked two loaves yesterday.
Having not made whole wheat bread before (successfully,) I learned a great deal this recipe is a good recipe that I posted but the dough is not the same as white bread dough. and at times I didn't think that the bread machine was going to get it all mixed and that it would actually look like a loaf of bread as the end product. But I persevered with my patiences and the bread came out fabulously. It is a dense bread with a really nice crumb or whatever it's called. The only problem was trying to find the vital wheat gluten. Don't waste your time going to grocery stores because even the people that work in the organic section of the store doesn't know what this item is. I found mine at a small natural food store. I really don't know if you could leave the vital wheat gluten out if you can't find. if anybody bakes a loaf and doesn't put the vital wheat gluten in please post your results because this item is hard to find unless you go online and get it from I think it's Red Mill company.

Great job Rick, it look's delicious. When mine gets done I flip it out on to a cooling rack immediately, then I take a stick of butter (easier to hold onto) and go over all sides of the bread with it. It helps to soften the crust up, and it tastes good, too. Enjoy!! Take Care and God Bless. Love and hugs to you and Cathy from Michigan. 💖

In all of the videos I've watched of you, Rick I don't think I've ever seen you as excited as you were today to be making bread in your new bread machine! To say that watching you in this video rivaled a 5 year old on Christmas morning with a tree full of yet to be opened presents, is an understatement! Haha! Your bread looked delicious!
The only slight critique I would mention (because I happen to bake a lot) is that your glass measuring cups are actually meant for liquids rather than dry ingredients. There is a wee bit of a difference measuring with them (believe it or not) but all in all your bread looked FABulous and you did an excellent job! I sure hope you make at least one new bread machine recipe per week...I would really look forward to that...also, if you're going to be baking a lot of bread etc, you might want to invest in a small jar of yeast (kept in the fridge or a cool place) versus having to always open those single use packages of yeast and maybe not using them up, leaving you with half opened envelopes. Great job Rick!
PS: I bet your bread would have been wonderful with Kathy's Tuna Salad recipe!

Fleischmann's makes a yeast just for bread machines. Comes in glass jars. It's what I use.
Don't let the yeast come into contact with salt either, it kills it.
I also find, that if I just mix it all in a bowl then dump it in the machine it works better. For some reason it mix ALL the ingredients together, still have flour in a corner about half the time.

I started out making bread in a machine 20 years ago when I had a brutally-small kitchen but generally do it by hand, now.
The reason you would need to adjust the liquid or flour has a lot to do with the humidity on the day you're baking.
Your loaf looked good, if maybe just a bit wet/'doughy', when you sliced it. That could be not enough flour or that you sliced it too soon.
Otherwise, very nice job for a first loaf.

  • @kinglord5429

That is why bakers weigh flour not measure it, flour absorbs moisture like a sponge and increases in volume so cup of flour is never 8 oz. That way

Once bread is cut, if you lay loaf cut side down, it doesn't lose moisture and dry out so quickly. Another tip never put your loaf into a wrapper, until it is 100% cooled. It will sweat and get soggy. Enjoy! There's nothing, like a slice of good, old fashioned, homemade bread.

    • @itsmeintorrespain2714
      @itsmeintorrespain2714 5 лет назад +2

      Here's a recipe for you:
      1 teaspoon sugar
      1 teaspoon salt
      240gms water (I use bottled.)
      400gms bread flour
1 teaspoon yeast (bread machine type.)
Put ingredients in the pan, outside of the machine, in the order listed. Place the pan in the machine and set to bake a small loaf using the basic bread option with medium browning. When done remove the pan from the machine and turf the loaf out onto a cooling rack to cool for 1 hour at least. ENJOY.
TIP 1. Never leave the finished loaf in the machine to keep warm. Doing that will spoil it.
TIP 2. As has been commented here already - it's really is best to weigh the flour and water.
TIP 3. Add a liitle olive oil (5gms - 15gms) as part of the 240gms of liquid.

Hi Rick! This recipe fell. You suggested we try the other bread recipe with instant yeast to test our Aicok machine that collapses all loafs thus far. We can’t find that yeast now. Can you give us another exact recipe with regular yeast so we can give another test? We may have a bad machine. Thx!

Rick! Question for you. we have this same Aicok bread machine for the last 3 months. My wife is an accomplished cook and has made 100's of loafs in other machines without issue. This machine returns the "Big Valley" collapse each time thus far. She's tried the recipes that came with the machine, her own, and even today used room temp water - nothing works! so...what are your ideas to cure this "Big Valley" with this particular machine? Can you send us your same recipe and amounts you used in this video? My stomach will be forever grateful! :)

Are you using a different camera? The video is small and very compressed. But I still love the video!

I paused the video to look at the program list on the machine. “Meat floss”??? Lol, I guess they meant meatloaf.

Meat floss is shredded dry meat. You see it on sweet bread at Asian bakery.
