Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups water, room temp
3 tbsp butter, unsalted, room temp, cubed small
1 tbsp sugar or honey
1 1/2 tsp salt
4 cups bread flour
1/4 cup nonfat dry milk - scroll to bottom if wanting to use reg milk - see note
1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast, instant
________________________________________________
Note: If you don't have powdered milk on hand, yes, you can use regular milk. Here's what you need to do. Instead of adding in 1/4 cup of powdered milk, you will add in 1 cup of regular milk and TAKE AWAY 1 cup of water from the recipe. So only add in 1/2 cup of water instead of the 1 1/2 cups the recipe calls for. Just note, this change will make a much "richer" tasting bread.

What to do for high altitude? I never get it right... Mahalo, looks delish!
And if you've looked at the ingredients list on the bread in your local super market lately another bonus to making your own is no chemical additives as well as humectants,, emulsifiers preservatives, palm oil and a host of other ingredients which don't belong in bread.
I prefer my bread with monoglycerides and soy lecithin, just like mom used to make.
@@derp8575based.
@@derp8575why? Why do you need those? In Europe we are used to really fresh bread like this. Tastes amazing. No need to toast them to make it eatable. Just fresh bread with butter and cheese or peanut butter or if you are Dutch like me of course chocolate sprinkles 😃
The bread on my bread I buy has more ingredients than I can read.
But according to these chaps they prefer their bred with methofetynylcanaboidmethanegas tricheme.
Just FYI. I bought TWO bread machines from a Thrift Store for $35 and they both work great.
That's awesome! Now you'll have twice as much delicious homemade bread! Happy Baking!! 🍞😊✨
i got mine for $8 ! It had the recipe book inside with the previous owner's comments. I absolutely love it!
I just made two loaves of your bread from your recipe I need is great I don't care for the bread maker shape so I put mine in loaf pans and they came out tall and beautiful thank you for easy recipe
That's awesome! I'm glad you liked the recipe! Thanks for the comment 💖🍞✨
Bought a used Toastmaster Breadbox machine for $5. I've made your recipe 4 times with All Purpose flour and each loaf came out great. Thx!
Great to hear! 🍞😊
FINALLY- the bread recipe- I’ve been looking for- after many many recipes this is it! I Even made a half recipe too- since I’m only one person! It worked perfectly!
I have been looking for a bread to eat/ that I can just spread some room temperature butter on and barely warm up / just like my mom made on cold winter days when I was child! Thank you so much for this video!
That's wonderful! I'm glad you like the recipe and it brought back good memories!! Happy baking 😊✨🍞
For a half recipe do you still go the full 3 hour cycle in machine
I had a look at my breadmaker, a 2lb loaf takes 3 hrs and 25 minutes from start to finish. There is an option for a 1lb loaf, and the preset time on it is 3 hrs and 13 minutes. So yes, even if you're only doing half, you'll still need to let it bake for the full 3 hrs.
I followed your recipe coz I woz hungry for a white bread!!! I want an avocado toast tonite!lol
Warm water / milk takes it to another level. The yeast loves it. The bread would rise to the ceiling. Now my stand mixer sitting alone in the corner.
I definitely do that for my homemade cinnamon rolls and dinner rolls. VERY delicious! 🍞💯✨
@@JustAddMoreButter Still on the basic bread, just got the machine last week. After 3 tries, got it perfect. Next whole wheat bread, cinnamon rolls sounds yummy. Never got the proofing right with manual / stand mixer. This is the best gadget next to my trusty rice cooker.
I made my very first loaf a few days ago with your recipe ❤❤❤ absolutely amazing had to come back to make again today. Whole family loved it. Hubby has a paralyzed vocalcord making it hard to swallow cheaper bread and this one he had no problems with and he looked like a little kid at Christmas eating it. So excited to be able to eat bread again. THANK YOU SO MUCH ❤
That's fantastic! I'm so glad everything worked out wonderfully and your family loves the bread! Thank you so much for sharing ❤
Recipe is good but I’d use another 1/4 cup water or milk, like 1 cup milk, 3/4 cup water. But I add 2 tbsp. Skim milk powder. 1/4 cup oil, 1/4 cup sugar. Rest is the same. Wet first then dry in bread machine , yeast last. Dough cycle.
Thanks for sharing!
A caution with bread makers: I don't know if the very expensive ones are any better, but I find a common problem among the machines: The bread pan's paddle-spindle and/or its bearings are in a humid, hot environmtne during use. If not made from steel that is highly resistant to rust, they gradually rust together, I you bake bread once a week, you may find after a couple of years, they lock up. This is especially true if one removes the paddle from the spindle before the last rise in order to avoid the paddle recess in the bottom of the loaf. My solution to the rust problem is not to bake in the machine. Before the last rise, transfer the dough to a baking loaf-pan. Let it rise in the oven away from cold drafts for about an hour, then bake it for about 40-45 minutes at 350-375F. Never bake in the bread machine. Use it only for mixing and kneading. A new pan will cost you $40-$50.
How utterly pointless. The idea of owning a Bread maker is that no additional items are needed, and heating a whole oven for hours is not required. If you just want to bake it in the oven then use a basic stand mixer to mix your dough. You obviously don't need a bread maker at all!
As it is, if the bearing sin the bread pan lock up - simply buy a replacement!
Iv been searching for 30 minutes and urs is the FIRST real recipe I could find... Thank u SO much!
That's awesome! I'm glad you found my video! 😊🍞✨
That was wonderful. Thanks. I'm buying myself another bread maker for Christmas. Waiting on black Friday 😄I used to use one many years ago but now with the price of everything going up, I would much rather have warm fresh bread. I'm going back to making my own. Can't wait to make my rosemary bread.
A bread maker sounds like a great Christmas gift! Nothing beats a loaf of freshly made homemade bread. 💖🍞
@@JustAddMoreButter So very true. I can't wait 😄
Get one at Goodwill or a thrift or secondhand store. There are loads of them. I bought a Cuisinart ice cream maker. It was missing the paddle. Called the co. The guy said, I'll just mail it to you at no cost!
This looks like such a fun recipe to try! I love how easy you made it sound, especially with the step-by-step instructions for beginners. I am curious to try the version with regular milk for that richer taste. Definitely adding this to my weekend plans-thanks for sharing! 😊
Thanks so much! 😊 Happy Baking!
Made this and it came out great! ❤
Thank you so much!
My pleasure! 😊 Thanks for letting me know!
This is such an underrated video! My favorite part is the unsalted butter, which "doesn't really matter here" 😂
A lot of recipes call for unsalted butter, but I only ever buy salted. I haven't noticed any issues using salted butter, hence the "doesn't really matter here" comment, lol. Thanks for watching! 😊✨
@@JustAddMoreButter that's awesome! It kind of takes the stress out of cooking, because a lot of videos call for some strange ingredients without which 'your dish will never be the same...' which for normal people make it a lot more difficult
I couldn't agree more! I like to post recipe videos with easily findable ingredients. Makes life easier for me and anyone watching. ✨😊
No. No. No. Just... no. So, get a new saw please...
🥴I didnt know that the second beep on my Breadmaker (Just like yours) was to remove that paddle...I always have to dig that thing out of the bread!
Thanks for the recipe!
You're welcome! I'm so glad I could help! 😀
Same here. I learned something today. I used to fight with that paddle trying to get it out lol now I know better
thanks, great video. :) - could i use 1/2 cup of liquid half and half coffee creamer and 1 cup of water ?
This change would replace the 1 1/2 cup of water and 1/4 cup nonfat dry milk or 1 cup of milk. Thanks
Thank you for demonstrating and explaining how to do this.
You're welcome! 🥰
I use this recipe it's very easy and I love it thank you. Recently I started to make this recipe again and I didn't have any bread flour,😢 guess what? I use self-rising flour,I still added the yeast and everything else and the bread turned out wonderful. I even did it again and used sourdough and it still came out wonderful. Thank you🎉
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing your story. I'm glad all of your bread loaves turned out wonderful 🍞✨😊
Sorry for that line I meant it was great
It's okay, I understood what you meant. Thank you for watching my video! 🍞😊
I have powdered milk but you say that adding regular milk will make a much richer bread… That sounds like a good thing to me. 😃Have you tried it this way before? I have this exact same machine and I barely used it so finding out that you can take the paddle out at a certain point is great. Is that when it beeps to put add-ins in the bread?
That's awesome, you have the same one as me. Okay, so the machine will make two separate notification beeps, the first is for add-ins and the second round of beeps is if you want to take out the paddle attachment. And yes, I have made it with regular milk instead of powdered milk. It was tasty, but I still prefer it the way the recipe was intended. If you do decide to use regular milk instead, please be sure to follow my altered instructions carefully so everything turns out just right.
Happy Baking!! 🍞💖✨
@@JustAddMoreButter I will keep it the original way since you say that way is best. 😊It’s strange that I can’t find the instruction book that came with this Cuisinart bread machine but I have the one from my previous Oster machine😄🤪 What made me dig out my bread machine in the first place was that I saw a video somewhere on RUclips making banana bread in a bread machine. I had no idea you could make sweet bread or cake in a bread machine😄
The bread is so much better if you take it out of the machine ,shape into 2 loaf pans ,let rise again and bake in the oven
I wonder if I could use buttermilk powder instead of milk powder.
I made this in my breadmaker today. A very dry and dense loaf it made. Wont be using this recipe again. It's been two hours since I made it dry as sticks and will probably be inedible tomorrow. Very disappointed.
Add an egg. I don’t know why most bread machine recipes don’t suggest this but it immediately fixed my dense bread issue.
Thanks for the well made video! Most bread maker recipes on RUclips have some details left out. Im trying your recipe now, using honey and coconut milk because I did not have dry milk (I always have to substitute at least 1 thing I dont have), I will comment with results.
You're welcome! Also, I'm not sure what the dry milk to liquid conversion ratio is, but yes actual milk (or in your case coconut milk) can be substituted. I hope it turns out great!! Happy Baking! 😊🍞
I thought of the liquid to dry conversion before it stopped mixing and added a 1/4 cup more flour and some diastatic malt to give it some lift looks ok with 1/2 hour to go 🤞
Ok mine with the modifications was a little doughy in the middle but I will try again with the right ingredients thanks again !
At least you tried! You'll get it next time. 😉
I have a similar bread maker and get great results too.
What I do differently is I use shortening instead of butter and seem to get a lighter, fluffy loaf.
Also I do a 1.5 lb loaf and instead of removing the paddle after the last knead I take my dough out split it into two loafs, let it rise in smaller bread tins before baking about 25 min. The resulting loafs fit in my toaster much better.
That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing! 🍞😊✨
How long do you bake for once you divide and I assume that is in the oven
@@sheri8471 about 25 minutes at 375 in my oven. 😀
And this is after letting it rise a final time, about an hours worth of rising.
You have a Cuisinart if I'm right? Looks like my baby that started having black oil coming from under bread pan & the part it locks onto. Now I have the Cuisinart CBK- 210. Going to sure try your White Bread & alot of your recipes, thank you hun
Glad you got a new bread maker! Yes, mine is a Cuisinart BMKR-200 and I love it!
Hi new subscriber! I just found this recipe and I'm excited to try, one question about the yeast. The directions say active dry instant yeast but the packet you showed is regular active dry yeast. Does it matter which one we use? Thank you so much
Sorry for the confusion, but yes, use the one I show in the video. That's the one I always use and it works great every time. Happy Baking! 🍞😊💖
Thanks so much for letting me know
Okay I want my bread to taste salty, not sweet at all. Basically I love my bread to taste like French baguettes or French bread in general. Which ingredients do I need for a simple bread like that?
You can use the same recipe listed in this video's description box, just omit the sugar and it won't have any hint of sweetness. Use salted butter instead of unsalted butter. You're not going to get the "baguette" texture, but the bread should taste close to what you're describing, if you want your sandwich bread to taste similarly to a baguette.
Wow, this is amazing!! I'm interested in getting one of these machines but have no clue what to buy. Just to be clear, you just added all the ingredients without premixing, is that correct? I presume it's designed to work like that?
That's correct! I add in the ingredients as listed, layering them one on top of the other, just like I do in the video and I don't mix anything. I let the machine to everything. I wouldn't worry about which machine to buy. Purchase whatever bread maker is in your price range. Also, most brands include a short recipe book, which is nice! 🍞😊
Nice recipe looks delicious! Not a fan of music.
Looks great. Foolproof.
If the have the same breadmaker.
Whats funny I have Old 5890
Sunbeam breadmaker.
This model makes 1 pound and 1.5
As said .. looks great have a good one.
Thank you! 😊

Is there a way to do this with regular milk instead of powder milk? It’s all I have access to at the moment. Also, Got my bread maker off a friend for $2! Best investment ever!

Thank you! I have a bread maker machine but no book I bought it aGot at a garage sale,. Yay It worked 😊
That's exciting! Happy Baking!! 😊
Do u not have to knead it using the bread maker? Or was that just this specific recipe?
Nope, you do not need to knead the dough if you're using the bread maker. Just place the ingredients in the order shown in the video. The bread maker will do everything else, such as knead, rise and bake the bread (assuming your bread maker functions the same as the one shown in the video).
I wonder if i can use a gluten free flour for this recipe?
Nice recipe I will try this soon 🤩, I have dry goat milk that I am planning to use …. 😋
That's awesome! Happy Baking! 😊🍞✨
This worked perfectly for me. Thank you.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching my video! 😊🍞
I got a bread maker for Christmas but haven’t tried it yet. Can you use AP flour instead of bread flour? I don’t have bread flour at home and I don’t use a ton of flour for other things, so I’d love to not have to purchase 2 different types of flour for my kitchen.
Your basic loaf of bread relies on the high protein level of bread flour to develop a strong gluten network. There are some bread recipes that you can use all-purpose for, things that are ultra-tender, fluffy such as no-knead focaccia, challah, and cinnamon rolls. For this recipe, I would stick with bread flour. 🍞
You def need strong bread flour. I tried using regular flour and it was a disaster. Straight in the bin.
Yes, regular AP flour will not work. I use the brand White Lily Bread Flour. 🍞💖
I want to make this but I have all purpose flour.
Bread flour has more protein than regular flour. When the machine kneads the dough, the protein becomes gluten. Without gluten, the dough isn't as elastic, and will not be able to to hold as much air and rise as effectively. I would highly recommend using bread flour so the loaf doesn't cave in the middle. 💖🍞✨
Hello, thanks for the video, the recipe. However, would like you to mention the recipe in Baker's Percentage so that it can be scaled down to one pound loaf. From India
Thank u
Can I use Robin hood regular flour!
I've never used Robin Hood flour before, however, I did look it up on Amazon and it does say on the packaging that it can be used for, "cakes, cookies, breads and pie crusts", so I'll assume it can be used as such. It never hurts to try. Let me know how it turns out! 😊🍞💯
I use Robin Hood all purpose and it works great.
Absolutely love your recipe-thanks so much. I tried tweaking here and there- ended up coming back to your exact instructions (just a little less salt for my preference). This is the best bread I have made in my still very early bread making journey. The texture is amazing and i feel like I've finally got my flow now. My family are happy to leave store bought bread for this. My only question is can I sub the white flour for brown flour or do I need to take certain measures into consideration? My preference is brown bread or brown seeded so I would love your guidance on the perfect recipe for that please. Best wishes from London, UK
When you say "brown bread" do you mean whole wheat bread? I think this is what you mean, and if so, I have a recipe for you to try.
Ingredients for a 2 lb loaf:
1 1/2 cups water, room temp
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons honey
4 cups whole wheat flour
1/3 cup vital wheat gluten
2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
Directions: Same as the basic white bread directions, place everything listed in the exact order (from top to bottom) in the bread pan. Select the Whole Wheat program on your bread maker and start. Vital wheat gluten is basically used to improve the bread's elasticity and create a better crumb and chewiness in the final product. The brand King Arthur bread company sells a good vital wheat gluten, if you don't have any on hand.
I'm so happy you liked my video! Thanks for watching!! 🍞😊💖
Thank you so much for that. Yes I do mean whole wheat bread, I’ve purchased the vital gluten and will try it out. Is there a reason there’s no skimmed milk used in this brown bread recipe? Is there a favourite bread recipe you use for a seeded loaf? Thanks again, I love how easy you make this!
@@tayaggers3240 I'm not sure why the recipe doesn't call for any kind of milk. Today I did try a copycat Outback Steakhouse bread recipe and turned it into a sandwich loaf using my bread maker. It too did not call for milk, just water, and it still turned out amazing! I'll hopefully have a video out on that recipe soon too.
I usually use milk instead of water in my bread maker and it makes the bread richer. However I wonder if I used buttermilk instead of ordinary milk would it turn out even better? Perhaps I would need to reduce the amount of butter though as both butter and buttermilk together would be too much fat in the bread and alter the texture too much. Has anyone tried buttermilk?
Is the dough container stainless steel or non stick pls?
Good question! It is nonstick. I took a quick glance at the manual and it does say not use metal utensils to avoid scratching the nonstick coating on the inside of the bread pan. 😊💖🍞
I've started making bread again and it's coming out very dense and dry when cooled so I'm researching. Does this loaf's tenderness resemble Wonder bread or Pepperidge Farm/Freihofer's country/hearty bread?
I would say it's pretty close to prepperidge farm's farmhouse hearty bread. Given the option, I definitely prefer this homemade bread over store bought when it comes to regular basic white bread. In the video at 2:42 I show what it looks like ripping one slice apart. Hopefully that can give you an idea of texture. It is fluffy and tender. I hope this helps!
@@JustAddMoreButter Thank you. That's the answer I was looking for. I don't care for bread you cam make into marbles. LOL Yes, I saw the texture but I couldn't tell if it'd rip. It's got to stand up to the peanut butter and cold butter tests. :)
@@mala3isity lol Well I know my husband has used it for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but I'm not sure about cold butter. You've got me thinking about making some bread just to test it out, lol. The smell of fresh baked bread alone is worth making it. yum!
They charge too much for shipping.
Too much salt, you should have used unsalted butter instead
Get a new knife please
Please on God! Also make more of these
Why bread is always soft
Why come the bread can't be black?
Nice loaf.
Thank you! Cheers! 😊
I have made your delicious recipe, and it turned out perfectly. Today, I am attempting to revamp your white bread recipe to a Cinnamon raisin bread. Swapped the white sugar for brown and added 1 cup raisins & 2 tablespoons of cinnamon spice 🤞🏾 thank you
That sounds delicious! Let me know how it turns out 😊🍞
Can I use liquid milk?
Yes! If you don't have powdered milk on hand, yes, you can use regular milk. Here's what you need to do. Instead of adding in 1/4 cup of powdered milk, you will add in 1 cup of regular milk and TAKE AWAY 1 cup of water from the recipe. Thank you!🫶🏻
Why so fast .
I tried this recipe and my bread came out deflated 😢
What happened? Did you change anything in the recipe? Did you use AP flour instead of bread flour? Maybe the yeast wasn't good.
@@JustAddMoreButter i just bought the yeast and yes I used all purpose flour instead of bread flour , may that have been the problem?
Yes, that's probably why it came out deflated, unfortunately. Bread flour has more protein than regular flour. When the machine kneads the dough, the protein becomes gluten. Without gluten, the dough isn't as elastic, and will not be able to to hold as much air and rise as effectively. I would try it again but with bread flour. You've got this!!
