I am 58 years old. My Mother is from North Dakota. Growing up I use to always watch her make homemade bread. Watching her kneed and kneed her dough in a huge wash tub. Watching her let it rise. We never bought a Loaf of Bread out of grocery store. We had a red handle bread knife that you could adjust to the size of the sandwich bread you wanted. I'll never forget how hard she worked a 40 hour a week job and made bread for the whole week. I miss those days. She is 81 now and back in North Dakota. What a Glorious Mother she is.

It is so beautiful to see a young woman who has mastered these traditional techniques. I'm 81 and have been making bread for 65 years also learned from my mother. With current prices a loaf of your bread would cost no more than $1 instead of $3 up to $7. All during covid my daughter in-law did our grocery shopping and I baked 8 loaves and shared them with her. There is nothing more rewarding than making bread.
My mom, who had dementia, came for supper the day I made bread. She sat herself down on a kitchen chair and sniffed and then in a sweet voice she said "oh, you made bread! Can I have the heel and lots of butter." Roles had been reversed. I am so blessed by having a mother like her. She died peacefully in my arms at 89. Your video made me happy and took me back to better times. Your Mom must be so proud of you. Thank you..

I love your story....the way it used to be. Back in a time when people helped each other out and didn't expect things for free, but at least tried to bring something useful to you in exchange. Nothing wrong with helping others when they need it too, but the simple barter system was a wonderful thing I think. I remember going to my Aunt's house in the mountains as a kid and we would beg to stay because she made the best fried chicken, fresh corn on the cob and green beans from her garden and fresh baked biscuits.... memories I will never forget. I started raising chickens and I've begun teaching myself how to make bread and it has inspired others around me to start or to take it back up again. There is so much satisfaction in making things from scratch....

I have made many loaves of bread but always looking to try new recipes. I used olive oil instead of canola oil & added about a teaspoon of honey instead of sugar to the yeast water. Soooooooo good! What I like is it comes together fairly quickly AND two bonus loaves to gift to friends or family!! Its a nice change from the crusty artisan bread that I most often make. Great instructions!! If you've never made bread, this is a great recipe that you'll likely make over & over again!!

@@kellyross6622 you are so right. Baking yeast bread is a tradition and is also a religious expression in the Russian/Ukrainian Orthodox Church community. Tradition has it that each household would bake done like Easter-breads looking like domes of a Church. They come in different sizes, some are large 3 lbs coffee can, 2 and 1 lbs, either frosted with icing or left plain. It also represents the Risen Lord. Small ones are baked in 6oz cand and given to children to carry them in their little Easter baskets to get blessed after Easter Services. I was also do happy that I learned the art his to make them. Somehow as my husband is now gone I started buying them at the church bake-sale; I found that my Parents' Easter-breads (Kulich) tasted so much better. I took over making them, but only one daughter out of there learned how to make them. I did get inspired by the young lady who was baking bread that somehow reminded me what I have been missing. Hi from New zealand. I have taught myself to make bread and I am always looking to see how I can improve my technique. It took me a while to use the proper way to knead the dough and not having big hands I found it a bit difficult but I found as long as I stretched the dough as I kneaded it didn't matter so much, but the correct technique is much easier on your hands. This is the first time I have seen the proper way to prepare the dough after the first rising and I think this is what makes all the difference in making a good crumb. Thank you so much I really appreciate it.

Bread is cool down. It’s so delicious, I can’t stop eating the extremely easy to do bread. Going to Sam’s club tomorrow and stocking up on all the ingredients. Never buying store bread. Also the house smells delicious. I opened the window and heard someone saying, “someone is baking bread, it smells so good”. Thank you and mom for the recipe. Thank you and stay safe.

This is definitely the best bread recipe I’ve tried so far, very tasty and great texture. I think this will be my new go to recipe for bread. I made it into 2 loaves as I have oversized bread pans, they came out the perfect size, I just added 15 min to the baking time as 30 min wasn’t quite enough.
    Love it❤️

I made the bread and it turned out really yummy. I made it late afternoon, I only had one loaf pan so I had to put my 3rd loaf in the fridge since I had to cook it one at a time. I am waiting on my second loaf and hope to done by 1:00 am. The house smells amazing, I am now told no more buying bread, the family loves the bread my 1st loaf is gone, we all had a late evening sandwiches 🥪. Hi Sheri. This is probably the third time I've watched this. I can "almost" smell the bread. I use two different machines to make my bread, but like you, I prefer to bake it myself as opposed to letting the bread machine do it. I personally prefer to use stoneware to bake my bread. It requires no lubricants, such as PAM, or whatever. The only difference is that it's better to wait until the bread is cooled a bit before turning it out onto a breadboard. My best friend brags to others that my yeast rolls need no butter to be delicious! Thanks for the tips!

It's not hard, get a big machine, bread flour is in short supply but that can be fixed, YEAST is your big issue, not a long shelf life. Look at the tips people post, honey instead of sugar is always better, milk/water mix instead of just water, melt butter. Turn it out on the cooling rack after it's baked. Electric knife slices better, you can get a cheap slicer guide.

OK, I'm going to tell you that this is the VERY BEST BREAD I have ever made. I really liked the idea of using honey instead of sugar, and I like the fact that it made 3 loaves instead of 2. I used my kitchen aid for mixing and it worked just fine. I had to use the full 5 cups of flour. My yeast was Flechmens. My rising time was a little longer than 45 min, but after 1 hour I tested it using my finger to make an indent when I thought it was done, and it didn't spring back so it was confirmed. I also had to bake it a little longer than 1 hour, but I think that is just my oven. I couldn't wait to try it. It is delicious!! Thank you so very much for this recipe. So cute. Keep making that delicious bread & baking. You are a very brilliant, ambitious young woman & remind me of myself. I too started making sticky buns and cinnamon rolls when I was about 14-15 and my passion for cooking & baking continues to this day, and yours will too. Your family is blessed to have you.

Hi, so I kept looking at ur video everyday along with others for bread. Today I decided to try ur recipe. I have to say it was most perfect. I made 3 loaves looking huge and tasting delicious. I used my dough hooks in my cake mixer for half d process and then used my hands to complete d kneading. I also used 10 cups of flour as nine was sticky. Perfect bread. Thank you so much.

Oh my goodness! This makes me so happy! I’m so glad that you make it all the time and that your family loves it! Once you have homemade bread it’s hard to eat the bread from the store… homemade tastes so much better! Thank you for your sweet comment! ♥️♥️♥️
