Mary.. I just have to tell you that I made my first batch of your bread today (03/09/20). It came out beautifully and delicious. My husband tore into it right out of the oven because he could not wait. I was so happy, praising you and Abba Father because it is my first time ever to have a perfect loaf of bread homemade in the oven. I use to have a bread machine. It was fair, but was dense a lot of the time and I didn't really do any of the work except throwing all the ingredients into the pan and the machine did it all. I was a bit nervous because my kitchen is not warm. I live in South Dakota. I turned my little convection oven on warm setting and put the dough on top of the oven (not inside), but it gave it enough warmth to make it rise perfectly. Bread is my weakness, though. It will be difficult not to make this all the time. Love your channel and your sweet disposition. You explained everything so well and thoroughly. Thanks again. ♥

@@MarysNest How sweet of you are to write all this message to me. I surely have been perusing your playlists and your site. I haven't yet gotten into the FB group, but it sounds interesting. Yes, I have tried to cook traditionally most of the time, making things from scratch, grow our own garden. I see a lot of videos you have that I need to watch. Bread was always the most difficult for me to grasp how to get it right. I've wasted a lot of ingredients until NOW!. I am so excited and so happy that I've come across your channel. God bless you too, sweet friend. ♥

Seriously, someone needs to get you out to the masses.

    Hi Mary,
I am Chinese from Singapore. I came to the US in 1969. Married to an American. Have been living in the US for 50 years, I always considerate myself a proud American.
When I first arrived, I spoke very limited English. I am a cook-a-holic ! I would read cook books like a novel. I think I learned my English from reading many cook books everyday. My English is still not perfect and still learning.
In my younger days, (in the 70s ) I baked bread from scratch once a week. My late husband would eat half of the loaf as soon as I took it out of the oven. Yes, no store bought bread can compare to a freshly baked bread at home, and the whole kitchen smell wonderful!
I still cook a lot but didn’t bake any bread for years. Recently, I came across your cooking Channel on RUclips. I was happy to discover your no knead bread recipes and surprised there are such thing as no knead bread! I baked one today, it was very successful and boy... beautiful and delicious! Wish I can post a few photos to show you.
Your instruction was very clear, you have a lovely calming voice and you always keep a smile while explaining everything.
only a passionate cook would do these laborious videos.
Thank you for sharing your awesome recipes. Keep up the good work!

Mary you are an absolute blessing!! I followed your recipe to the letter and it was amazing!!. Of the 2 loaves I made I got a single warm slice. My teenage boys snagged a loaf and my hubby took one to work. Apparently it was a hit there as well...thank you from the bottom of my baking challenged heart for helping me make amazing bread. An added bonus I made these in my toaster oven and for once in my baking life the smoke alarms kept their mouths shut. I couldn't hit subscribe fast enough!

Been making bread for over 50 years. When I was broke I use to make it for my four kids breakfast. Buttered both sides and browned in a cast iron skillet and topped with cinnamon sugar or home made jelly. They didn't know I was broke and they loved it. They use to brag to their friends what they had for breakfast and their friends who had a different living situation use to get on their parents that they wanted home made bread with home made jelly. The parents would then get on me for spoiling my kids. I use to giggle about it. Times are a little better now and my kids are grown with their own families but every time I make bread I think of those days and smile. Yet I want to thank you because as long as I have made bread, I have not known the difference in yeast and always used what I had. Now I understand why some times the bread didn't rise as well as the last. Thank you for sharing. I also keep my yeast in the freezer in a Locknlock and take out what I need and put it right back so it doesn't get wet from condensation. It seems to last over a year or more. I keep my gluten in the the freezer for my bread machine also. That too seems to work. So I appreciate your video and am going to watch your other videos too. Thank you for the recipe. Stay well.

Can you tell me if it’s better to use active or instant yeast? I’ve been so anxious to try baking bread. I’ve never attempted it before.

    • @candicehawkins2676
      @candicehawkins2676 3 года назад +8

@@benicio1967 hi dear. In everything Ive learned from longtime bakers you can actually interchange the yeast types. It was said that Active dry yeast was to be proofed in the liquid portion of your bread recipe but that was really to find out if your yeast was fresh and able to cause a good rise on your bread. The Instant is mixed right into the dry products. When I was a beginner bread maker it was the mid 70s and the thought was to proof your Active since there was no Instant yeast or Bread Machine yeast that I knew of in Iowa. It was you and the dough.
Check the recipe you want to use and see what yeast it asks for. If its Active go ahead and follow the recipes instructions by using the liquid to proof in. If its Instant mix it in the dry ingredients.
You can do no- knead bread or kneaded bread depending on how much you want to give your hands some therapy. I had to buy a mixer with a bread hook due to both hands having had surgery for carpal tunnel. I also have a bread machine that I use to just make the dough so then I can make cinnamon rolls or a specialty bread. Years ago I was a kneading freak making bread weekly and taking it to my boyfriends Italian family since they brought me so many Italian meals and the grandfather helped me with my half an acre garden.
Making all that bread by hand is what really helped me learn. Back then there was not all the terminology, bread machines or proofing bowls, just bread instructions.
Good luck and find a recipe that says beginner bread making. By the way, King Arthur Bread Company has bakers that will answer your questions about any problems you are having. I used to get all my bread flour from them until that type flour became hard to find. I use the flour the recipe says to but if it says Bread Flour and I dont have any I use my Nuts.com High Gluten Flour and mix it with AP flour.
. I live in Texas now, up by the Red River in the country and have all my food products shipped to me or order from a grocery 30 minutes away. The pandemic hasnt messed with me much since I have a garden but boy did the flour shortage cause me problems.
Let me know how your bread comes out Im real interested in knowing which yeast you used and how you set it up. Remember to keep all yeasts cooled in refrigerator unless you live in some area that is cool and drive.
Remember if you are using bulk yeast and recipe calls for a packet, Google how many teaspoons are in a packet. I believe it 2 1/4 tsp but dont make lie. ( Lol.)
      Good luck and have fun.

As soon as I took the bread out the oven I buttered it down with a tablespoon of butter. I love butter. Because I am greedy I could not wait to let the bread cool. I went in for the kill. My goodness the bread was beyond delicious. I got some more butter and sat down an before I knew was was going on I ate half the loaf. There is a 1/4 of the loaf left and I have not shared with anybody. Now I have to go make another loaf . This bread is too easy to make and simply delicious. Thank you for the awesome tutorial.

Hi Mary! I recently discovered your wonderful channel and now you have a fan for life! This morning, I made this bread and it was so easy and it tastes delicious! It reminds me of the bread my grandmother used to make but, like most grandmothers of people my age, she didn't use a recipe and I've never come close to duplicating it ... until today! You hit it out of the ballpark with this one. Thank you so much for sharing it with your viewers.

Oh yes I will try it again the thing I did love about the bread was the outer crust thin and softer than other breads I have made with the no kneed method and the flavor was amazing just a little more denser but I think it was the heaviness of the whole wheat flour. I can’t wait to try more of your recipes also you are a great teacher thanks Teresa
