Got this car, and I dislike it after 1 month. Sport seat is awful and gives me back pain. Display is confusing. Cargo space is decent but the width isn’t as good as it should, I can’t fit boogie boards that I was previously able to fit in my 2016 clubman. AC blower unit shakes the steering wheel on higher AC levels. Steering wheel is too small.
I’m super mad at all those reviewers that praised the car and completely omitted to notice those details. It’s really disappointing engineering from BMW.
Engine is good though, as is the handling.
If the mini badges were covered up, a group of 100 people would suggest it was a Chinese car 80% of the time.
Somehow the brand has lost its appeal a genuine British icon.
Hot take
Or maybe a bmw x2 😉
True say
Nah, it looks BMW to me.
Mini's aren't mini any more ? The price is out of this world !!!
No they're not - they're huge and the price is massive now. A real cash-cow for BMW.
@@tonyb3629only a cash cow if people buy it. 😳
Yes true but all cars now are silly expensive.
Why do the 20" rims have elastic bands for tyres?? haha. There is no way those 20" rims will ride UK potholes well
Excellent car review big fan of Mini’s and your channel 👏🏻hope you have a great bank holiday weekend 😀
Happy chocolate egg day! ❤️ Thanks for stopping by and glad you enjoyed the video!
Who is Mini and what of theirs are you a fan? Stop. Putting. Apostrophes. On. Plurals.
Love everything but wish they kept the iconic rounded headlights
My 1st thought was - that's a Mini?! I loved the minis when they were first relaunched back in the early 2000s, as they still retained their charm and mini-ness. But over the years they've got more and more bloated both in terms of size and cost. And the price now is eye watering particularly when you add the 'packs' on. I do think that is quite a sneaky way of bumping up the total cost, when a lot of manufacturers already include these items as standard. Personally, I think you're paying a premium for the lifestyle brand that is now Mini. Ironically the Mini is definitely not a mini car anymore. However, I do like the fact they haven't gone for a boring black/grey interior. But even if I could afford one, I certainly wouldn't be ordering one - sorry Mini! Thanks for another great review, Tish😊
As an owner of the previous model, i wouldn't buy this one. I really don't like the absence of driver instruments, for me its far to big, the looks are awful, and then there's the price.
You should mention that on the base model 1.5c that the union jack lights don't have the union jack lights, they are the same tail light design but you can't have the union jack light display unless you pay extra for level pack 1 to get them. Pick cop out by mini, making you pay 1k extra to get them. Disgusting by mini
Looks like a new 2024 suzuki swift from the front...
Interesting, you're not the first to point that out
Biggest problem here is being tied to option packs. Mini used to have a load of individual options. Not any more. Can't get things I want without a pano roof. I hate them. Not sure about the speedo offset to the left, but HUD may compensate for that.
I hate the headlights , they should be rounder and more “mini” it looks a bit like a Suzuki Swift .
I would think the styling has become more anonymous and bland , the lights being the give away .
They have ruined the inside , have taken all the buttons away, such a bad step ! They should show the basic range , what a joke for the added extras , most of which some manufacturers give as standard!
The front styling is a mess and not sure about the rest of the styling at all. Its kind of boring.
Needs proper buttons for climate.
Like the seats
Don't really like the steering wheel, might be ok in the hand, though.
The deal breaker for me is the screens, don't like the position of it all.
Not for me, I'm afraid.
Great review, though Tish
You can really see the BMW IX in there. Especially in the pale metallic blue and gold and very.much in the interior design
What a shame, looks like the future of motoring is dull.
It's absolutely massive and the prices are above the working class unless you don't mind HP. I did have a 21 reg it was a good car and the size was great. But I've been turned off with the Mini brand after multiple issues. Had to change to a used automatic it didn't go well. But the brand new cars are lovely but who on earth can afford the new cars apart from HP and hire car customers.
Oh dear what has happened 😳?????
I hate to be sexist but this is a mini a man would drive
A gay man you mean? Or a man that used to be a woman?
I can see that. Maybe that is why they've done it?
@AutoSocialUK a man would drive any engine labelled S or JCW.
It’s not lehvah (leather). Didn’t you do any prep? MINI use their proprietary Vescin vegan leather. No animal products and no chrome any more.
Is it possible for “Mini” to rebrand as “Not At All Mini” or as “Chunky” perhaps?
As other reviewers have said - Mini is a brand and for those who want the brand values but in a bigger package, the new Countryman fits the bill
Petrol head and motor trader of 19 years saw one on the road and thought exactly that. Took almost a full second to realise. Of my. The mini is square. Why. It’s almost got a Chinese EV looks about it. Oh No. Less British iconic Mini more follow the pack with tonka toy styling
Looks like too much german in my eyes. I agree with you Tich, old Countryman was better. 😊👍
Electric cars are a dead duck in the UK.
I love the new mini. Checks lottery numbers to see if I can get one. lol.
There’s no denying the superb quality, but this looks hideous. The rear looks like a 20 year old Ford Fusion and the front is forgettable too. As for the stripped back interior, I hate it. Sorry MINI.
The entire BMW design crew is a disgrace, nowadays ... 😔
Plus ... as I said before ... it seems intentional ... like .... "- What else is beautiful, stylish & iconic ... at our models ? Headlights ? Front grill ? Door handles ? Let's ruin them ! " 😏
Outgoing version is far superior. And they have to start shrinking these cars not expanding them. A total fail.
Not feeling it with the new mini
EV? Not me. Petrol 4 ever
Not mini enough. If you’re going for a car this big there’s more out there with better space, the dash is silly, the price is outrageous. In short it wouldn’t be on my short list - or long list for that matter.
Wow that's so ugly.
Nothing Mini about this BMW
I hate EV's but reckon I'd actually buy one before I put one of these on my drive 🤮
'negativity for electric cars'? That must be why the market share increases year on year despite lack of government incentives in the UK.
Legacy manufacturers are useless at making electric cars profitably as they have arrived so late in the game which is probably why BMW have started with combustion models first.
Oh, and the styling is hideous in my opinion. I know they have to produce bigger minis for profitability but this is losing most of the styling cues and has become too aggressive.
At least one small mini model would be nice too.
The Mini has built its own worldview, and it is hard not to have an interior dominated by excessive minimalism like the VOLVO EX30 or TESLA Model 3.
It was nice to see it equipped with a heads-up display.
Im thinking to buy it.. the c one.. any recommendations from someone who already have it? Bad or good.?😊
As my dad says, Mini is brand... not a statement of size.
Also the countryman has always had squared off headlights, it's the Hatch that has circular headlights... which it still does on the new model
The BMW design team need firing. The Renault 5 is going to take a massive bit out of the standard mini's sales
Great report, thank you. But as someone has already said, it looks just like all the other Chinese stuff. Pretty awful, especially that interior..
Do you know when you’ll be posting a review of the new Cooper S?
Thanks, Peter
It's nothing great, & it's not a mini any more.. It's a BMW. If you want a proper mini buy one from the 70s to 80s & you get more fun from them than this peace of Junk!!
Like driving a wardrobe, very boring. Clubman way better, sadly no more....
Good interior yet they have gone bland exterior, the lights hardly look like a Mini and more like a Toyota Yaris Cross or a Suzuki Swift and the rear trying to be like a Land Rover oh my 🤢🤮
15:50: absolute genius discovery. I had no idea either until now!
Funnily enough, I saw one of these in the same colour in a car park just yesterday, and had to double-take at it to check if it really was a Mini or another brand's attenpt at one. I was never a Countryman fan but at least they looked Mini-ish!
The last model is much gorgeous, interior is not bad tho but the exterior 🤮 the front looks like an electric, where are the grills and black accents, only for the jcw which is pricey af
Extremely ugly and not ergonomic!! Who the hell going to destroy the sales of MINI ??
Exterior? Not a fan of the looks. Quite like the blue colour with the gold-ish accents though. I saw Petrol Ped in the JCW Countryman recently and that looked a bit nicer on the outside.
Interior though? Absolutely love it! Just the right amount of quirky, maybe less the chunky steering wheel! Cheers Tish :)
Edit: actually, the rear end looks good! I think it's just the chunky front end I'm not a fan of
Don’t like it at all.
Suzuki swift front
Previous Countryman (and all F series Mini’s) was a nice looking car especially in the JCW guise. This one is pig ugly , I want to like it but I just can’t . Seen them in the metal as I walk past my local dealership most days. Who sat back after designing this and said that looks good , let’s go and spend billions and get it into production ? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say but this is not for me. Interior though I do like so it’s not all bad. I assume it’s your dog on your phone , looks lovely. Cockapoo ? I’m typing this with my wet Cockapoo sitting on my lap after a muddy walk.
I bought the 2024 ,2 door hard top. Mini cooper S with 6 speed. Still looks like a Mini. Don't hate the outside of the 2025, but the inside mixed feelings.
Not at all impressive it’s lost all the mini styling and just looks like a Korean or Chinese SUV
love new countryman..especially interior..seriously consider one
Hey Tish, I am going to share my thoughts on Mini Countryman's looks from a young motoring journalist POV (or IGCSE student). The front of this Mini looks un-Minish but it has a very bold posture towards it. Especially with the Gold - Silvery bits instead of boring old chrome bits. The wheels looks lovely on the car that you had looks very modern. But when I looked at the smaller wheel options I was stunned. They worked well with the car. The squared off Mini headlamps looks bold and it seems like Mini is preparing to jump into a new era of cars. For £29,000 I think the Mini is a bargain. (especially when a Qashqai cost £27,000. Loved the review as usual and let me know what you think?
great review as always, but BMW have ruined the Mini's for sure.....too big, boxy and £££££££
Tell me about it
Not a fan of small, quirky cars at all unless it's a hothatch. I like cars that gives you a lot of self-confidence. Small cars won't do it for me, respectfully
As for rear room. of course you find it roomy, if only because you are comparatively tiny.
Absolute nonsense. Too bad. I want normal buttons and not these screens.
Great video I prefer my shape countryman tbh 😊
I was supposed to take delivery of an electric Countryman last week……………… thanks to a mess up by the DVLA it’s not possible for dealers to register them and the DVLA cannot be bothered to get their finger out to fix the problem - seems that they prefer to go on holiday for a couple of weeks than fix problems with their vehicle code system that allows customers to take delivery of their new cars. You can get a test drive of a dealer demo on trade plates but if you have parted with your own hard earned cash nobody wants to know.
Either the presenter is tiny or that thing is MAHOOOOSIVE
It looks like a Chinese London taxi
Outside it is chinese car, but i side like you said really cool and wonderfull
I love the interior, it’s the exterior that’s horrible to me.
How can you do without satellite navigation? Surly most important component in a car.
Apologies, my point was that with Apple CarPlay and android auto standard. For many people that leaves the need for Navigation redundant.
@@AutoSocialUK oh ok, makes sense 👍
@@bytejourneycodes yes apologies, sometimes I got off on a tangent thinking everyone knows what’s in my brain 😂😂
Map book😊
For me it just isn't a Mini anymore, more like an anonymous Chinese knockoff. Oh well.
Diesel best, higher torque and longer lasting than petrol
my brother bought a mini when they were affordable for the masses and FUN, the price he paid was £500 on the road, they are no longer a car for the masses and there are better cars out there for the money
It makes me sad as I love Mini and wish more people could enjoy them!
Great video, and compliments on your wardrobe choice!
Now the car: while round headlights were an acquired taste, these ones are completely anonymous, hide the badge and replace it with a SAIC or Geely and see how many people fall for it. Even that rear lettering could just say “Build Your Dreams”.
The interior: yes to the colours (Ora?) no to the splattering on the door… it looks undecided. And there should be an option for a non-kitchen clock screen.
No through loading ??? put the middle seat down
Mini has lost its Mojo. Sorry. The last good one was the R56.
This must not be available in the US because the 2024 Countryman available at my dealership is the old version.
We've got a Countryman, and we saw the new one a couple of weeks ago. I thought the same thing. It's enormous; it's lost its personality and become completely bland. It has lost all of the Countryman appeals. So I'm waiting for the Aceman (regardless of whether it's electric). I hope it's quick, quirky, and quiet.
ive always said, that when someone advertises their product as reliable or fast you can bet it's neither of those things. So, when does Mini no longer mean mini. 3/31/24. sorry it's too big. if you want the mini look you can't have square headlights. mini and SUV are accidentally oxidentaly an oxymoron. mostly moron. Mini, the idea of driving a small, sporty, fun-to-drive, legend in 2024 sounds like a dream car. what you get is a very expensive Kona.
It’s just ugly, definitely not for me.
Always liked the mini’s particularly the Countryman but unfortunately a little out of my price range. I do however drive a Suzuki Swift that I’m a real fan of. But like this new Mini the new 2024 Swift is not that dissimilar to this Countryman, particularly the front end and honestly both look bloody ugly. Not a fan at all, not sure what the designers were thinking?
Should be called a maxi!! Disappointed that they made it wider and taller! Such a shame!!😢😢
Yes I agree, they could have even added a car to the lineup that was bigger, rather than bloat the countryman
Nice video tish still look good
The mini tho its no longer a mini just lost the look sadly but the seats look nice but everything else has changed now x
Mini thats a Maxi! Thanks for a great video, i see in this car the new Suzuki Swift 😮
MMMMMMM -More like Midi Countryman - Offspring of the Mini Countryman & the Fiat 500X - Beautiful car inside but far, far away from the original reason for having a Mini. Excellent review as usual, Tish. When do we get the outtakes. 😀😀😀😂😂😂😜😜😜
Stupid car now and not because of the size, it's lost all its charm and individualisation. So much cost cutting going on here too, it's so boring and that's the opposite of the mini chic us existing owners love. I'll be keeping my cooper s and getting something like a Formentor instead, this countryman is an utter joke. A great review though, life the channel!
Where's the wood?
Square headlights? Its lost any small amount of "Mininess"it had, which has been disappearing with each generation under BMW. I am not a fan of the latest BMW / Mini styling direction. I am about to remove the only remaining BMW in my small personal fleet, there has always been a BMW product in my garage since 1981.
Wow thats awful, why is a "British"/European brand apeing a generic chinese EV in terms of style. Very very strange. Not a mini fan, but at least they had their own identity.
Why am I getting Mk 1 Nissan X-Trail vibes from this car ?:)😂Great review though Tish I found you when looking at BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and saw one of your early vids , subsequently subscribed !
This strays too far from the Mini reboot. BMW Group have lost the ability to do good exteriors. Interior is ok, but can’t live with only touchscreen controls - far too dangerous when driving. Basic controls like heating and other essential adjustments need to have physical buttons. Wheels are horrible and price is ridiculous.
A lot of comments are being made that Minis aren’t really mini any longer, and too pricey. Brands have to evolve to survive and grow. Mini is a lifestyle brand, and I thinks it’s fantastic that they have rethought the Countryman. Yes, its size isn’t Mini, but it’s offering a little more room than the previous R60 model. I recently drove the new model, and it really does still feel like a Mini. There is a driving experience that is all its own with Minis, and this still captures that feeling. I have had 2 Countryman over the last 9 years, the R60 and F60, and the F60 was a nice improvement for the initial model. It’s quality and fit and finish is second to none. I’ll be trading in my F60 to order the new JCW Countryman very soon. I love the brand and am pleased they are evolving to be more accessible to a wider audience. If you want to drive something that is wildly different than just about any other vehicle out there, then you should check out a Mini. I’m happy to pay the premium…in my experience they have been totally worth it.
The interior is not this Countrymans biggest problem. That is that grill. It's just horrible I do not like the round touchscreen but it is different. Still do not like it do. It just looks out of place. Also them alloys look like a direct copy of BYD Dolphin alloys only difference is they are not tri coloured and look bigger
Cant wait to get our ALL4 S countryman, unfortunately its stuck at the dealers on a stop sale along with all other new Mini's as from the 9th August
Like a family suv interior 😂😂
I’m a big mini fan, I have a 2022 JCW and love it! I won’t be considering the new one - really disappointed and hate to say but I really don’t like it anymore! When my pcp comes to an end I will sadly be looking away from Mini 😢
As usual a cracking review Tish but this is unlikely to get onto my list of cars to consider when I decide to change. BMW have done it (yet) again on the exterior styling. They seem to have a knack of ruining the cars looks having done it in the early 2000's and yet again a few years ago. This one isn't too bad though but it's nowhere near as good as the outgoing model in my humble opinion. I have no idea what they were thinking with the 'C' pillar rear side window. Touch screen everything is still a no no but a dedicated area for climate although not as good as direct access buttons is better than going through screen menu's on the move only to wake up in hospital. I'm not a fan of the door trim either, it just looks mucky and the leather isn't leather and I'm not sure about that. Is cloth trim still available? I'll take a look at the spec. I could go on but I'll leave it at that. A nice car without a doubt but as a Mini I think it's just a tad wide of the marque. Many thanks for sharing.
Not my sort of car but I like the interior colours. Any reason you did the review from passenger seat? We couldn’t see what you were pressing on the screen
That interrior is horrid. I hate cars the have a blank space in front of the driver the car just doesn't look right. This model of Mini is way too big and looks no more like the cute little Mini that we grew to love. Sir Alec will be spinning in his grave with them messing with his design even more than before. Good review Tish.x
That is one fugly looking car
Hi Tish I have watched a lot of your reviews and I understand because you explain in simple terms, Wow that mini countryman looks very luxurious inside not what you expect shame they didn't keep the iconic circle headlights 😉
Looks a really nice car. I've a golf mk8. Was thinking of waiting for the new 8.5 golf face-lift. Could I be tempted? Not sure but I like the interior. Wonder how economical it is? I get over 60mpg with my golf etsi. Would want parking sensors. You appeared very enthusiastic about it. Very good video. Thanks.
Beautiful but not sensitive to the pocket. No longer the first choice when a woman thinks of an upgrade...
Great car review Tisch.
Anyway, this car is not a Mini. It is not a small city car that anyone can afford and drive. This is a big and expensive car, almost a BMW.
If someone is looking for a family SUV, there are far better choices than this one, like the Citroen C5 Aircross and the Ford Kuga.
You just don't get it do you? Citroën vs. BMW build and tech? Lol. Do you shop in Aldi or Waitrose?
Not a car guy are you!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@da_great_mogul Tesco actually.
C5 aircross and Ford Kuga can't hold a candle to mini's interior quality.
@@simonmellor4028 How good interior quality do you actually need? If that matters to you that much, you could consider the Ford Kuga V (V for Vignale) which has premium interior quality.
