Hi Everyone, I just want to clarify a few things I have said in this video. The DJI Goggles 2 have no dedicated Anti-Fog system like we see on Skyzones, Orqas, Fat Sharks or even the Avatar Goggles that gently blows air over the eye area. DJI are using the same setup they used in the V1 and V2 goggles where they are trying to draw in from the face mask area and expel that after cooling the internal components. On the V1 and V2 Goggles this actually works OK, its not the best but its decent and this is because the inlet vents on the front of the goggles is fairly small and the inlet area in the mask is large( The long bar). On Goggles 2 DJI are using the same setup however the balance of airflow appears more towards the front ducts than the ducts in the face mask area. The two bottom ducts on the front of the Goggles 2 are much larger than on the V2 googles and the fan is located right next to them. As such the system is simply sucking the air in through the path of least resistance i.e. the bottom ducts and very little to none is being pulled from the mask area. You could see in this video the path to the front ducts is much more restricted than the back. As such this is IMO why the goggles appear to me to have poor performance in this regard and fog Easley. *Cant It Be Fixed.* Yes and No. The design of the goggles is what is it, we cant change that, however DJI could increase the fan speed or allow in FW for users to override the lower setting and have a boost mode for instance, we don't know the affect this will have as we have not seen the system in this setup, its possible the fan on full speed would move more air than the front ducts can provide and as such pull from the face mask but this is not something we can test unless DJI provide it as an option. Its also worth adding that the airflow is is massively restricted on the outs put as its being pushed over the heat sink and out the top. There is some alterative options that also will work but we don't know the impact yet and that's restricting the front lower ducts. I have tested this by blocking them with tape and yes it then starts to pull air though the mask however we don't know the affect this would have on internal temps. Though strongly feel some better balancing of airflow could improve things. Finally there is the modification and 3rd party options, I have been working on a Fat Shark Style fan duct and I think there is options for this with a modification's to the current mask. Furthermore I can see room for 3rd parties making a mask that help with this too. This is in my personal opinion a problem caused by poor design choices however its not fundamental, its not great but some will need a solution and im 100% we will have one sooner than later. As always none of my comments are ever designed to make people regret their purchase or kill your excitement, I am simply saying how im finding things. Stay Safe Mad.

What about modifying those black light shields? Maybe holes or slits would be add to all some air flow around the eye pieces? Thanks for the teardown Ian.
Thanks again for shining lights on issues and compromises. Before knowing about this one, I had made my mind about the evolution of this system. Being a DJI user with a lot of Air Units and Vistas on a few too many models, it's time to shop around outside the walled gardens of DJI. Now looking for insights whether I'll take Hdzero (probably) or Walksnail. Maybe Orca, who knows, right? What's decided is to keep flying my current crop of models with the outgoing DJI, because they are so good.
I wonder if removing those two O ring cover things around the lenses out I know dirt whatever, but should give more air flow between the face and goggles instead of just those small vents at the side. I'm better that will help. now I'm wondering if I should buy the orgianl V2 goggles if they are going to be compatible with the new air unit 3? do you know if they will be coming or is that just for the dji whoop thing? also will it have the action cam built in still if they sell the air unit 3 alone? would be nice to toss the gopro. thanks for your time mate.
@@schweizerluchs7146 All it takes is a bit of exhaled air. I've had Fatsharks with the fan turned off that fogged up on me just from the moisture of my eyes. I'm just glad the V2 has a fan.
Antifog solved: cover those outer vents and it helps. Fan sucks air like the v2 version from inner air takes. I live here in Finland and had terrible fogging problem because we have here +5 minus and rains all the time.
Revisited this to look if they really had to compromise fit. Looks like there was some more space for nose width and bridge clearance with some minor design tweaks. Looks like they had room to position the optics slightly closer to the eyes as well but choose not too in order to fit more faces in a compromised manor.
Mine was also fogging as hell, a simple solution that worked for me is an after market sponge padding instead of the OOB one. no more fog, however there is a tradeoff , the edges are a bit blurry because it moves the goggles further away from the face, but it is much better then flying with fog.
Is it possible that DJI could've covered the lenses in an anti-fog solution/coating/whatever to account for this? Any idea how bad the fogging gets in those goggles in actual situations where fogging would happen?
This may seem a little stupid, but on your mirrors in your bathroom some people use shaving cream on their mirrors to avoid fogging from the steam. I wonder if trying something sim on your goggle lenses would make any difference?
Thanks for your honesty in terms of the negatives of the Goggles, especially with respect to the fogging. I value honest RUclipsrs who look out for consumers

Hi Ian, can you tell me please if the antenna mcx connector can be removed from the inside it or not ? I am planning to add 4 external sma connector for my axii mk2. Please tell, if you remember.
I don't have fogging issues with mine but I assume that's just because at the moment I have light leak from both the left and the right side on my goggles2, so they have air flow. If they were sealed, from your analysis it looks like I would have problems. I can't believe they did not have any duct for the air flow, what a miss...
so those antennas that create this strong signal to send out and receive sit right above your eyes ? Any Health Concerns to be so close to the transmitter ?
Thanks for the look inside so far. No anti-fog that is certainly a major oversight. The fan and intakes seem to be designed for cooling the internals. Covering the lower ones may cause it to overheat. Your thought on this?
I’m doing some testing on this now. When you cover then it 100% takes more air from the eye area. You can actually feel it. There may be a Balance needed here so some restriction my help for sure
@@MadRC That's a good starting point... having some noticeable air flow. Maybe a slight redesign of the thin plates that go around the optics can help? A small slit in them or something. By the look of them in your video these wouldn't be to difficult to print in tpu. Hope you find a solution. Looking forward to it. 👍
Have you done a teardown of the DJI Integra? Specially the battery. Can we replace the cells with other 18650 if we have the dreaded dead battery issue. Would love you to do a video!
My Skyzone analogue goggles have no anti-fog. I find it no trouble as I always wear them on my forehead when not in use! This keeps the lenses warm from body heat. Heat OR airflow will stop condensation. Maybe the DJI lenses are un-fogged by the heat of the electronics??? They do take a lot of juice!
Thanks for sharing Ian, fogging probably a show stopper for a lot of potential buyers, I’d hate to have spent all that money only to discover the fogging issue, will only get worse over Winter I reckon. So glad I’ve just bought the V2’s, have had no fogging issues with my V1’s.
I got the v2s in the fpv combo on Amazon two weeks ago with a $150 free gift card so basically got the combo with the quad and controller for $840 and I bought the avata quad for $629 Friday night. My self made combo package seems like a much better deal than what DJI is offering right now. $1,450 for the v2 goggles, the fpv quad, the avatar quad, and the fpv controller 2 works for me 😂

I don't know how bad the fogging is, but I'm glad it doesn't have air blown into my eyes like the V1 goggles. It was better when I used glasses with them, but with contact lenses it was very uncomfortable.
I wish they would make these goggles compatible with the Mini 3. I would love to have that quiet little Mini 3 be able to use either the RC smart Controller or these goggles. That way I could do cinema around the neighborhood with the RC Controller and then be able to fly it in my pasture around all my trees. Just one drone! It wouldn’t be a perfect FPV, but would suit my needs! Tom
Did you release the smoke yet? Hot air rises so I bet you are right about the air flow. Might that copper be groundplanes? Ah got further into the video!

Hey brotha I’m having trouble w the power cable not keeping them on if jiggles the wrong way and getting worse. I was wondering if I’m able to take them apart like and solder the cable to the pads in there directly ? What a remarkable feat of engineering! If these are compatible at some future point with my mini 3 Pro then I'm interested... The cinewhoop here in the UK doesn't appeal. Too loud. I wonder if anyone will manufacture some replacement internal Antenna's for those of us that like to take our gear apart to improve it's performance 🙏🏼
maybe if the fan works in the opposite direction, the air will be blown in and at the same time we will cover the outlet which is now the inlet, the problem with the evaporation of the glasses will change, it will not be difficult.
Hey Ian. First of all thank You so much for all the amazing content you create! 🙏 Have a quick question. My v2 goggles somehow burned and I need new ones. Have some quads with air units and vistas. But upgrading it wouldn’t be a disaster if goggles 2 wouldn’t work with them. Question is: assuming that new air unit will be same specs as Avata how much better video is in the goggles 2 is from Avata than air unit in v2’s? And how much worse is the video from Avata in v2’s comparing to goggles 2? Just thinking what is the better move, go for goggles 2 or don’t worry and get v2’s 👍
I’m wondering how long it will be before someone comes out with extra long antennas for it, not that they seem to need them as they seem to get some excellent range. Although there doesn’t seem to be any videos yet of anyone having fog issues, it may just be a matter of time. But then maybe that’s why the fit isn’t perfect down near the bottom, dji might have realised that they couldn’t fit an anti fog system in it so they left that gap just as a cheap and easy solution?
I'd prefer real world tests to see if the fog up is actually a problem, valid points though. My main concern, and what is make it or break it for me, is if there is a way around CE signal power restrictions
Blocking the inlet or outlet could work, DJI could always ramp up the fans too. Maybe you could put Fog-X on the lenses. Also I guess we won't get patch antenna's for these just replacement top antennas. I originally thought the two screws on the front would remove the grey plate in a similar fashion to the V1/2
contrary to bardwells intro music, you nailed it with your music choice for the livestreams and also here... bardwells intro feels like a mental disease when you have heard it a thousand times.. lol yours rocks!
@7:10 have to be able to get different shape face pieces. looks like that would be fairly easy to do 3rd party... but DJI should just offer 3 plates in the box...
i got a question about the DJI Goggles 2 Power Cable. i hate how long this cable is and would like to mount my bat on my goggle strap. do you know if i cut the wire and solder it back together it would work or does dji have some odd way in doing this cable = )
Living in a very hot and humid climate, I quite enjoyed the amount of airflow from my v1's versus my HDOs. But a lot of people complained about that and asked for a hack to turn down the fan. So maybe DJI tried to compensate for that,...at the expense of us hot heads.
The anti fog system can be done with the faceplate like fatshark ... but will not be easy. I like this googles how small they are. I wish fatshark to squeeze more on the main board like DJI . I like how DJI manages to tidy up all the components into small sizes.
Off topic... I have a question... Is the charger unit that comes with the standard batt with the Mini 3, will this charger work with the larger + Batt? Thanks or cheers...
Well done Ian, I wasnt expecting a tear down of this level after your livestream yesterday. Its so impressive how high quality DJI's products are, real shame about the air flow though, theres no fixing that... maybe remove the speakers?
3d printing new slider covers with vent holes would probably be the best solution. When u wanted to sell them one could just reverse the mod by putting the stock ones back on.
I'm very wondering about how good these new circular lenses compare with old mostly square one. Most of analog goggles with the circular lenses have effect of tunneling which is annoying me so much.
Thank you for all that you do for the hobby. I have a question that I have not heard asked or answered. Now that the V2 goggles have been reduced in price and the Avata has been released, do you think the price of the FPV bundle will be reduced as it contains the V2 goggle as standard?
My Problem is that these goggles fit my face so perfectly that sweat starts to accumulate under the rubber faceplate. Trying to get a non rubber faceplate and wipe the lenses with a dry anti fog cloth, let's see if that helps
Please tell us how the WiFi and Bluetooth work, and what they are for? How do the speakers sound and when do they function? Also earphone Jack... Anyway to record an image of what you see when looking through the lenses and what the OLED image looks like? Can you do a comparison of the image of this OLED and one of the V2 goggles? Anything in the menu that's a new feature that the V2's don't have? Thanks Ian, nicely done! 😎🤘
Very disappointing with the lack of anti-fog. It probably makes these goggles a no buy for me.. I had analog goggles before DJI V1 and they would fog up all the time. I have seen ppl loosing drones becouse of fog up. One crashed into the water. He bought DJI V2:s after that and no more fog issues. They really made a mistake on these new ones..
RIGHT TO REPAIR seems to be fullfilled with all the screws that allows you to open, but heating up a screw is a technique I am used to for repairing 30 year old classic cars to get the bolts out of the engine block. 15:44 is called a delicate assembly I guess. But you have again draw a new map about a terro incognita so you are again in the footsteps of James Cook without having to embark in a boat. Love this kind of content, unfrotunatelly you are already announcing V3 considering anti fog will be improved or at least during the V2 production run improved. At the end we are in the age of avata* content for months I bet till one fine day HDzero might walk in.
I wonder if the speakers was an afterthought and this are now blocking the vents for airflow? They remind me of their spark controller, an absolute minefield to disassemble. Thank you for your sacrifice lol. Could you use the same anti-fog stuff on the lenses that everybody used on their glasses during Covid to stop them fogging up?
Great that you did it👌🏻 and thanks for being as persistent as a fish stick when you absolutely wont buy the Avata and absolutely don’t rip the goggles open😍 thanks

I am waiting same answer, google 2 or v2? I dont have google yet.
What if you trim the dust covers a little bit to alow a little bit more air flow ?
I'd prefer real world tests to see if the fog up is actually a problem, valid points though. My main concern, and what is make it or break it for me, is if there is a way around CE signal power restrictions
I’m having fogging as is Ken Dobo and others that’s why I have mentioned it. I discussed this all in my live stream last night.
Ahh I see
@@MadRC missed that, sorry. How is the CE range though?
Hi Madstech, can you verify if the goggles integra have built in patch antenna please? 😊
Very interesting 👍 thank you for these insights 👏👏👏
Love you content mate keep up the good work
Blocking the inlet or outlet could work, DJI could always ramp up the fans too.
Bardwells music sounds like we should be shopping for tampons
@7:10 have to be able to get different shape face pieces. looks like that would be fairly easy to do 3rd party...
but DJI should just offer 3 plates in the box...
Hello everything is fine? Do you know where to find the serial number of the goggles 2?
It’s in the menu under the about. DJI also have a sticker with it on under the face mask.
Are you planning to do a teardown of the Avata itself? I’d love to see a hack for external battery power. Thanks
Thanks for showing this Ian.
Did you end up going with the dji care option on the avata ?
Yea
@@MadRChmm. thanks!
i got a question about the DJI Goggles 2 Power Cable. i hate how long this cable is and would like to mount my bat on my goggle strap. do you know if i cut the wire and solder it back together it would work or does dji have some odd way in doing this cable = )
I don’t see why it would be an issue as long as it’s all correct with the pinout ect.
Hope you can help, I have a pair of Goggles 2 that have a weird flickering issue on the right lens... Any idea of how to fix it?
Tbh it sounds like a bad screen. I can really only advise send them into DJI for repair.
@@MadRC Sadly, we do not have a dji repair center in South Africa... :(
I never had any issues with fogging on my Goggles 2 whatsoever !?
What's the ppd for fpv and goggles 2?
Could we cut the sides of the rubber pieces so it creates a channel? Do you think that would cause dust if we did?
Living in a very hot and humid climate, I quite enjoyed the amount of airflow from my v1's versus my HDOs. But a lot of people complained about that and asked for a hack to turn down the fan. So maybe DJI tried to compensate for that,...at the expense of us hot heads.
Hey hey! I want to remove my goggles 3 speakers, the beeping is driving me crazy. Do you foresee any issues with me doing this?
I wonder if those anti-fog sprays work on these lenses. They are like magic and saved my days when I was required to wear masks. (I wear glasses.)
The anti fog system can be done with the faceplate like fatshark ... but will not be easy. I like this googles how small they are. I wish fatshark to squeeze more on the main board like DJI . I like how DJI manages to tidy up all the components into small sizes.
Yea I’m thinking about a faceplate now tbh.
Do you get fogging with the integras ?
I wonder if one of the 3rd party fan solutions for VR masks might work with these goggles?
Off topic... I have a question... Is the charger unit that comes with the standard batt with the Mini 3, will this charger work with the larger + Batt? Thanks or cheers...
The fan seems like to work only for internal cooling. And that’s a weird design. Thanks for the work you put in it. Great video mate
Well done Ian, I wasnt expecting a tear down of this level after your livestream yesterday. Its so impressive how high quality DJI's products are, real shame about the air flow though, theres no fixing that... maybe remove the speakers?
Do you know what firmware it's running? Is it the new occusync 03 as i've seen elsewhere the new mini 3 is going to be compatible in the future?
Possible Mini 3 compatible in future.
Can you apply anti-fog coat on the lenes❓
3d printing new slider covers with vent holes would probably be the best solution. When u wanted to sell them one could just reverse the mod by putting the stock ones back on.
Good idea! My order is done and the goggles comes next days. I test some things to push more air around the lenses!
Very nice Ian. Thanks for the tear down mate👊🏻
I'm very wondering about how good these new circular lenses compare with old mostly square one. Most of analog goggles with the circular lenses have effect of tunneling which is annoying me so much.
Bummer about the lack of a real anti-fog fan. Definitely going to be a problem here in the Dirty South, USA.
And here I was waiting for this Artesyn reveal ;)
hahahaha
Please tell us how the WiFi and Bluetooth work, and what they are for? How do the speakers sound and when do they function? Also earphone Jack...
Anyway to record an image of what you see when looking through the lenses and what the OLED image looks like? Can you do a comparison of the image of this OLED and one of the V2 goggles?
Anything in the menu that's a new feature that the V2's don't have?
Thanks Ian, nicely done! 😎🤘
will there be a 1200mw mode? :)
With ther be a FCC hack avail?
Regards
so it appears these goggles have a actual focus system
you could use smoke to test the airflow
Thank you bud
Mikey
Great that you did it👌🏻 and thanks for being as persistent as a fish stick when you absolutely wont buy the Avata and absolutely don’t rip the goggles open😍 thanks
Well put Robin
@@sUASNews Lol, i meant it in a 100% positive way. im very happy he bought it in the end and opened the goggles. i assume the goggles will be re-opened again to dive in deeper after the Fun factor has come down a bit.
