This is the reason why I don't buy/gift flowers. I hate the thought that they will wither in a few days and will have to be thrown out. Gifting a pot of flowers is different though, but then you have to consider that maybe the person receiving them has no room for them or doesn't want to take care of them...

I buy flowers and a card for my wife every payday. Its a great way to show appreciation for a loved one and paydays are a frequently occurring day so its an easy reminder.
But one thing that irritates me is the lack of cards to buy. Every card you see in the store is based on a holiday or a particular event like an anniversary or even getting sick. There are no romance cards just to say "I love you". I often get cards and just cross out the saying printed in the card, draw a cute picture , and write my own thing.
    Thanks for the video!

I have a best friend who gets the Valentine's Day blues when he doesn't have that special lady in his life. I could tell this year was going to be a rough one for him, so I ordered him some flowers without ever saying it was from me, or a man for that matter haha. I felt super guilty about, for lack of better words, deceiving him, but when I saw the smile on his face and the tears well up in his eyes from him telling me how excited he was to have had a secret admirer, well, white lies are never good, but I think that one was for the best. I remember in 8th the father of my social studies teacher died that year. His classroom was FILLED and I mean FILLED with flowers. It really did help him lift his mood, and it reminded him that both students and teachers care about him and are there to support him. He loved the flowers and just the positivity they brought to him. (Good thing he isn't allergic)

I've wanted to give my boyfriend flowers for three years now, but thought he might take it badly. He is a smart, compassionate, stoic man, but he feels like he has to prove the final part. Even after I gave him a crystal to hang on the rearview mirror--my grandpa used to do that--he had to explain that to his buddies or they would give him a hard time. However, he also loves history, science & goodwill, & maybe having all of those will be enough for his comfort. Thank you for the information!

    I don't usually buy flowers,
    but when I do,
I prefer them to be practical or be used as a medicinal herb.
For me, a single kind of flower might be the only exception, like lavender.
Roses are too generic and can be boring.
There is a test about that which of the aroma therapy products smell fits to your style, but I think that currently it is only available at my language.

It's nice and all but I really can't help but remember a phrase from some famous person saying something like, don't pluck a flower because it's pretty or beautiful, look at it, smell it, appreciate it and leave it be to for it's beauty to continue, not to mention its function.
If you really can't help it then try this unconventional way of giving flowers, give it in a pot.

I think a man giving another man flowers is a bit unorthodox and can make all parties uncomfortable, especially if there is no deeper thought or concept behind the act which would downplay the flowers and highlight the relationship itself. The only way to give another man flowers in my mind is to go a bit unothrodox with the choice of flowers and/or meaning conveyed. For example giving flowers as a pop-culture reference (roses with a godfather reference is a good example). As another example: I personally would feel uncomfortable accepting a bouquet from another man, but if it is a bouquet of beautiful but highly poisonous flowers and the person giving the flowers mentions it, then all discomfort in receiving the flowers disappears in an instant. Or if the bouquet is crafted from different plants that are used in making alcoholic beverages etc.. the thought is all that counts, frame the act in the wrong way and the misunderstanding may harm the relationship irrepairably.

I would contest the notion of offering flowers to another man unless it's in a romantic setting, or if you're giving them to him to pass along to someone for you, or for him to give to someone.
A gift has a nature to it, whether it's utilitarian or emotionally driven. To thank or express affection for a woman, flowers are appropriate gift because they convey a meaning that women are more attuned to. They are an expression of beauty and grace that complement the receiver and adorn her. The same message does not translate to men. For a man to receive a plant, if he cannot put it into the earth and nurture it to grow into something grand or fruit bearing, it is often overlooked or misunderstood.
Men, express and receive emotion from other men differently. A good book may cost as much, but will offer more service. A box of cigars after tax season to your accountant or a bottle of scotch to thank them and help them unwind. Even a fine wine to bring home to his family are all gifts that recognize that hard work has been done a reward or expression of gratitude is provided. Even a good meal and great conversation is a gift that man can appreciate because the value is intrinsically evident.
To express condolences or support, a man should find the time to call and express himself directly. It's the opportunity to voice his emotions which stands out from the silent gift that often is the statement itself. It may not be as tangible as flowers, but it certainly is more permanent as a memory to have had a conversation with someone. Moreover, it is a deeper gift than flowers because it requires a personal component.
It isn't that flowers are an acceptable gift to give another man, and if the recipient has any class, they'll receive them with dignity and gratitude. It's just that there better options that can resonate better with men than flowers. Flowers work well to resonate with women more because of the emotional value that is associated with them, a value that has often been lost on men.
It's true, men are more visual creatures, but we are also more active and big picture oriented so to stop and look at flowers rather than a panorama of nature or the garden as a whole contrasts with women's ability to put them in a vase and focus in on them when they walk by.

I have no problem with sponsored content. That is capitalism, and everyone has bills to pay. I just think that flowers are for men whose mother actually wanted a girl, and did her best to get her wish.

Oh yes. Buy yourself flowers and he's right about how much people respond and how they respond, to a floral gift. So go make someone happy, for no reason at all.

If someone is emasculated by flowers that person is basing their masculinity on the wrong things. I'm lucky enough to have a small flower garden in my yard and I am always picking blooms and putting them on my wife's desk, on my desk, and all over the house.

I honestly don't think it's ever appropriate to buy another man flowers. Men are very practical. I would rather have that money with something I'd actually want. Like maybe a 4 box of Starbucks Coffee with a bow or whatever that's just an example. If a woman gave me flowers that's different. Usually it means something even if it doesn't other men or women will notice

i really don't care about flowers, i wouldn't buy nor for my mom, nor for my grilfriend/wife. But it's a personal point of view, i'm against killing toros in a rodeo and i'm also against killing flowers just to see their beauty for a few days until they die. I agree with a lot of what antonio says, though. There are studies about the effects of flowers on humans in a positive way (also negative) , but, as i said , it's just a personal point of view.
