    Thanks for this. I'd like to point out that the free ISBNs from Amazon mean that they are listed as the publisher, not you. If you buy your own ISBNs, you are the publisher. If money is a problem and you're happy to let Amazon be listed as the publisher, then go ahead. They're only low-content or no-content books. Just thought I'd throw that out there - especially for authors like me who don't want Amazon to have exclusivity over your books' ISBNs because it means that if you want to sell that book elsewhere, you have to get a separate ISBN for it

      Yes, you're right about that and once I found that out as an author myself I opted to buy my own isbn. Also, if you know you're going to make a lot of these you can purchase a 10 pack of isbns.

    • @SusanCartersBooks
      @SusanCartersBooks 2 года назад +8

      I have purchased 100 ISBNs as I am an author and need to have at least 3 ISBNs for each book. You need one for each book format, ie one for ebook, one for paperback, one for hardback, one for audiobook. I have decided that for the low-content books that I will only want to sell as a paperback on Amazon, I will use Amazon's free ISBN and for the others, I will use my own.

    Hi Paul, hope you are alright! Man, you can't imagine how much you're contributing to helping me find a way out of my problem of lack of work. I am an architect in Brazil, I have been working for 43 years and I specialized in shipping container projects and constructions, in addition to teaching software for architects. But the pandemic took it all these past few months. Now I live as a freelancer and I'm glad my training allows me to do that. I glimpsed a new scenario with your videos and I greatly appreciate your willingness to share. Sorry for the long text but I wanted to show my gratitude. Hug.

    • @_thekatieshow
      @_thekatieshow Год назад +1

      I do recommend it. There is a TON of competition on Amazon, but the thing is to find the right niche and really do your keyword research. I haven’t sold many journals, but my colouring books are doing pretty well. I’ve made about $120 for the month of November, which isn’t much, but as a single mom every bit helps. I should also mention that I’ve published over 40 books and have sold maybe 5 or 6 out of the 40+ I’ve made. You just have to stick to it! Good luck!

However I have an error message saying for the first 20 pages saying the text is outside the margins. Can you give an explanation as to why that is happening? Is this happening to anybody else? Would really appreciate a rely.

    When doing a puzzle type book, do you include the "description/copyright page as the first page and, if so, is there a blank page between that and the actual first puzzle? Love your videos - they are especially helpful to a newbie :)

    • @paulmarles
      @paulmarles  2 года назад

      I don't usually put a copyright but yes, a description would go on the first page. Then I would normally put the first puzzle on page 3, which, as you say, would leave a blank page between page 1 and the first puzzle.
