Instead of normal, flat,or slanted roofs using catwalks rails and walkways are a great alternative while using beams or the triangular side wall pieces to cover up the rails of them all :D
I'm the type of person to turn the music up when driving gets stressful but I play satisfactory with no music from the game or other sources either. And also the ambience turned off. Just the sound of the machines 💚
I still wish there was an alternate build mode for conveyors that would only use 90 degree bends, and as few as possible; similar to the "horizonal to vertical" mode that pipes have.

I really enjoy your videos! My spouse and I are on our first map/build and I've learned a bunch (shout out to the 90 degree angle tricks and using signs as mood lighting in particular) from your vids. My factories are still kind of sad looking, but they get better each time I learn something new from you.
I love that you play together, me and my partner have played a few times together, but she's still in the introduction phase to gaming 😊 Your factories will get there, there's no rush 😊
Good video, i have a tip that some people know that you can put splitters or mergers directly on conveyer lifts and making sure the input or output is correct on the lift you are using.
One thing that I’ve recently discovered that I haven’t seen anyone mention yet is that you can stack splitters/mergers on top of each other and use conveyer lifts to condense load balancing belt designs. The whole tree will easily fit on a single foundation and you could use conveyer walls to ‘black box’ the system if you don’t like how it looks.
I absolutely LOVE the looks of your factories! I'm still struggling with functional to be honest, your video was inspiring though, it all looked so modern and clean, and very pleasing to behold just the order of things. Thank you for the tips that you gave and i'll keep sharp watch here on for the rest of your vids
Biggest tip I can give after several failed attempts of building a "starter hub factory" that would make all parts up to motors (not rotors): Build BIG. No not as big as you're imagining, even BIGGER. Going from rotors, reinforced plates, and steel pipes/plates to stators, rotors, frames, and industrial beams is a HUGE jump in both resources and needed space.
I always build my factories way too small :x I kinda wish there was a "half size" foundation option because working on a tight scale you often run into foundations being way too large.
@@ricobarth they don't look nice mixed with foundations when used as a roof though. I guess with the new roof you could make an overhanging roof, but that only works well if you have a single story building.
Cavity walls! 😲 why/how have I missed that! Power rooms with individual switches and a master switch 👍🏻 Angled barriers and snapping walls for different shapes 😁 Yet another class video from Mr Xclipse 👍🏻
So I know you are into design and architecture, and you should make the videos you want, but what I’m looking for is help/suggestions on logistics. Once I hit a certain point in game, I don’t know how to scale without it becoming a mess. I’ve watched your logistics vids already. If you could make one focusing on inter-factory logistics, or point me to someone else’s vid… I know how to use vehicles, but things like an efficient truck depot design or one item per train car vs each item on it’s own train, etc. Thanks. 😊
This is exactly why i clicked on the vid, i struggle with the more advanced things that need 2+ items to make and thought he was gonna go over how to do those cleanly.
Yea this is also my major stumbling block. Every time I get to stators, motors, frames, and industrial beams and try to scale things up a little I always seem to underestimate how much space and resources I need, resulting in a mess of a factory. At this point I tend to just...start a new game because disassembling the entire factory and having to deal with all the leftover resources is a huge annoyance to me. Far more than starting over and taking a good 20~30 hours to get to the same point again. It's still frustrating though... Also trucks are a pain imo. They leave this "invisible barrier" behind them so no other truck can drive there for quite a while. So you basically have to have each truck on a path that doesn't cross with others at all or there will be issues.
Great video I am using some of these already but I will try out more like the logistics base above or below. The circle glass ceiling at 6:19 is so amazing too keep up the great content
Same. Keeping track of materials as I start to move up in tiers, I start to get overwhelmed planning the logistics of how to get items to their destinations
central storage management is the biggest pain in the ass of all obstacles in the game, at least for me. Using smart splitters but then one of the storage units gets full and halts the line... so I remade the whole thing giving each component it's own conveyor. It was a LOT of conveyors, but it works perfectly now. Of course I am pretty sure a chunk of my hard work is going to go to waste when they update the spire coast. I've had days to come to terms with that and I still haven't.
I used your starter factory video to help me with the layout of my factory floor, I love the bits i can see in this video, would you be up for sharing the save of this one so we can explore it first person like with the starter factory? I'd love to actually see how the whole thing works on the ground
I learned that light in satisfactory acts as a particle and only as a particle since you conducted the double slit experiment with the beams and the lights
One thing I got frustrated with is certain natural points do not line up with your ability to place foundations. I struggled to try and line up a rockarch with a foundation so that it was a straight line under it between the two end pillars of the arch. In the end I found a thirdparty map site which allowed you to edit the savefile to nudge the angles the foundation was passing across to line up with the arches. If this is actually possible to do in game, I would be so happy to learn how, but damn it I couldn't figure out any other way myself...
@@TotalXclipse For reference, its the arch that is located in the south east corner of Grassy Fields, -51,900/29800 cords. The arch that hangs over the open space down there was being annoying and no matter what I tried, the angle was never gonna give me what I needed. Satifactory-Calculator ended up letting me touchtap the angle enough to make them line up though...
I was curious as to how you "float" around when showcasing the factory? I was assuming it was the jetpack, but it hasn't worked nearly as well as you showcase. As always, thank you so much for the great tips!
Later in the game there's the hover-pack which is far more stable than the jetpack when it comes to building and hovering. That said, I think Xclipse probably uses Ficsit Cam mod or similar to get those cinematic camera movements.
Should i try to make these mega bases even tho i dont have the time? Also a question.. when i wanna build this is it just continuing my last save a start fresh?

@@TotalXclipse manifold is a line of splitters on a belt bus is a stack of belts from which items are split to machines (either single buildings or manifolds of buildings) and product of those machines are merged back onto bus stack of belts going from A to B is just long stack of belts, not a bus.

I wish more time had been taken on the barriers trick, I got lost on how the barriers disappeared as you placed walls. Did you angle the barriers and then use a hotkey to get to the wall you wanted to build?
Nope, just place down a barrier. Then open up what ever wall you want - I just copied it using the middle mouse button and then hd cntl whilst pointing at the barrier, it will replace the barrier with a wall
More generally, you can sometimes hold Ctrl to replace one thing with another. For example, you can replace a regular wall with a window. Just select a window, mouse over a wall, and hold Ctrl while clicking left mouse button. The wall will be replaced by the window. In the above video he replaced the barrier with a wall, taking advantage of the increased snap options the barrier gives you.
