Kenny Ortega directed The Cheetah Girls 2 due to the rapid success of High School Musical. We love a multi-talented king. The Cheetah Girls and High School Musical were going head-to-head in popularity. 🐆
The Cheetah Girls actually became a Disney musical group outside of the films with Adrienne Balion, Sabrina Bryant and Kiely Williams selling out world tours and becoming really big stars! They even sold out the Astrodome in Houston, Texas in less than 10 minutes!!
Kiely and Adrienne were from the short-lived R&B group "3LW" which is why they have so much star-power and talent.

Yeah, the drama was actually because the other girls (mostly Kiely) was jealous of Raven because she was a big star. Kiely was known for causing issues within the groups she was in and even admitted that she liked to cause drama.

I truly think “Cheetah Sistas” might be one of the best songs to come out of Disney. That bass line is so funky! That and “Cinderella”.

I always talk about how the girls treated Galleria with my friends, cause Galleria was the one making the music, trying to get their foot in the door, trying to keep everybody focused on their craft, making sure that a record company didn't just try to turn them into a gimmick & the other girls had the audacity to get mad at her cause she was a little arrogant? And they do it again in Cheetah Girls 2! Haha!
She was little MORE than arrogant lmaoo she became very cocky and conceited until it was too late. Let’s not forget she was willing to kick do out of the groups.
They all made the music together and Galleria self-elected herself leader of the group and tried to make executive decisions for everyone. Cheetah Girls 2 was another story.

Yeah Galleria has always been a eye on the ball kind of person. Very much " I want it and I'm going to get it, no matter what and I want to take you ( the rest of the girls) with me, but I'm not gong to compromise myself, art, and message to get." kind of person and because she can get a big head and a one track mind, she runs into trouble because of her mouth sometimes.
@@propogandalf the other girls contributed to the look and choreography but Galleria is the songwriter and editor. While she did need to be knocked down a peg or two, her attitude and drive is what will get her that coveted record deal she wants and not one that will compromise who she is.
Whitney Houston produced the first two Cheetah Girls and after learning that I totally heard Whitney’s influence in there

I had got the first soundtrack from the movie for my birthday after the movie came out and it was on there. I listened to that CD non stop to the point it aggravated my parents.🥴😂

If I remember correctly, Sabrina Bryan (Dorinda) was primarily a dancer before this movie so she had to learn how to sing for it. That might be why she didn't get as many solos. She still sounded great!
Adrienne and Kiely were in the short lived girl group 3LW (hence the "pop diva" vibes) and Raven is just a talented triple threat.

@@jaide4624 nope before. That part I'm certain of. I remember that both Adrienne and Kiely were promo names in the movie because of 3lw. I also checked, 3lw had songs out in 2000, cheetah girls came out in 2003.

“Cinderella” was actually a cover of a song by Play released in 2001…Then in 2003 they added it to Cheetah Girls. I recommend anyone wanting to hear that original version to check out the girl group Play.
I believe the group i5 released it first, in 2000, and then Play covered it in 2001. Then The Cheetahs covered it.

This is one of the movies I always mention when people talk about sequels being better than the original. The second one has so many more amazing songs! But this one is great too!
I was born in 2003 but I used to stay up till 1am when they would play the older Disney channel movies. I’d use the TV guide to see what movies were playing weeks ahead so I knew when I needed to stay up.

I'm a 29 year old male watching a vocal coach react to cheetah girls. I'm secure in my masculinity and no one can tell me otherwise.
It’s funny you mention the writers plugging cheetah references in the dialogue and it’s so funny because the movies are actually based on a book series (I was obsessed with them and read them as a kid lol) and the lines are very much based on the book personalities and language and from what I remember the books had even more cheetah references lol. The idea was the stories were for us girlies they called “urban” hence the verbiage lol. Also fun fact: in the books there were 5 of them, not 4; Aqua had a twin.
Omg I remember reading one of the books at summer camp and the amount of "cool" Cheetah lingo was completely unbearable and cringey even in 2000.

i believe the cinderella song was originally from the swedish girl group “play” who also sang “us against the world” which i unironically consider it to be the greatest pop song in history

A lot of the “quote-ables” are from the books the cheetahlicious and raining buckets of duckets sayings were in the series. Loved the books.

Oh my goodness, the memories! I remember being obsessed with them, CD on repeat. When I was in 8th grade our Jr. High won some national challenge and Sabrina Bryan came, we all got to hang out with her, she talked, taught us a dance from I think it was “Cheetah Girls 2”, I can’t remember🤦🏼♀️she took a picture with each class…and I happened to somehow be the only one to get an individual picture with her. 🙌🏻 Yes, I still have everything from that day!
To this day I have no clue how we won, other than that the other schools of the nation didn’t try. I mean, we are in a town with only a 4-way stop with a blinking light and there are more cows than people, like 20ish people tops in each graduating class, we are small town USA for sure.
I imagined her driving from a town over an hour away that has a small airport with 1 flight a day. She must have been driving through good old rural KS and passing feedlots thinking “Where on earth am I” 😂
This one and their second movie is even more iconic. Thank you Hannah for covering one of my favorite dcoms!

I’m so happy you did this review this is one of if not my favorite franchise of all time…this movie made me feel seen. Seeing people who look like me, act like me, talk like me, to see Disney showcase R&B and Urban Pop, and highlight urban north east/New York culture was everything I needed🙌🏾

At the beginning you asked "is that a roundoff?" and no- because she didn't use any hands, it's an aerial! A roundoff would start like a cartwheel, but end with both feet landing at the same time! :)

I haven’t seen many comments mentioning this, but The Cheetah Girls movie was based off a book series of the same name. The cheetah puns and the fun, rhyme-y way they talk is pulled from the book. Some lines are direct quotes.
Hannah, I HIGHLY recommend watching Chettah Girls 2. The songs, dancing, and story line are much better. You will not regret it.

the second movie has a little HSM vibes when it comes to the music and choreo I feel like that’s why a lot of people prefer it more but the original will always be that girl.
@@snixxdevaughn3267 Kenny Ortega directed both HSM and The Cheetah Girls 2. I’m not sure if he did the third Cheetah Girls movie but I assume he did. He is the genius behind a lot of Disney movies.
@@snixxdevaughn3267 I guess he didn’t direct the third movie. Maybe that is why it wasn’t as good. But he did all the HSM movies and he is also a good choreographer so he choreographed a lot of the dances with a couple others people as well.

Hannah saying "That firefighter is carrying this movie" and then laughing that there are firefighter back up dancers is great.
So Adrienne Bailon has a RUclips channel (All Things Adrienne) and in one video she talks about how after doing the 3 Cheetah Girls movies she stopped singing because she was made fun of for her voice. 😭 She said she hadn’t really sung until her husband wanted to make a Christmas album.
Which now that I typed that I realize I done the same thing. I experienced horrific bullying in high school for getting the role of Sandy in Grease. Still working through that and it’s been 10+ years. It’s hard to have your voice taken from you and then working to take it back and be brave to let people hear you again.
I used to take vocal lessons in High School and I had a big issue with tongue tension. I used to have to constantly do the thumb technique when rehearsing. The pain from the strain is no joke.
Fun fact: In the books (yes these are loosely based on a book series) Aqua has a twin so there are actually 5 girls in the group 🤗

I found out two weeks ago that "The Cheetah Girls" is a book series and was mind-blown. Aqua has a twin sister. Just weird to have grown up in the era of these movies and never known that it wasn't just something Disney Channel made up: it was a book series.
I was obsessed with the girl group 3LW when I was little so The Cheetah Girls was a dream movie for me! Just wish they had the other woman from 3LW in it 😊

Aqua was always my favorite one. She has a sweet tone when she sings which I like even if she’s not super strong but I always thought she was the best dancer which she really gets to show off in the second movie.

I remember watching it in high school, loved it, but my favorite one was the second one in Spain ('Strut' from there is a bop, and I even covered it on my prom). Joaquin there was lovely, but imagine my surprise when in university I watched the French musical 'Dracula: L'Amour Plus Fort Que La Mort' and learned that the Dracula there is the same actor, Golan Yosef! He sure aged well haha

Hannah, I'm the same age as you!! I just remember recording this movie on VHS, so I can rewind and sing along to all the songs. I think this movie is what clicked to me that I have a pretty decent singing voice, because my mom overheard me one day watching this and was shocked saying "wow, you sing really good, babe"

Something I would love to see your reaction to is something you might not want to do and that's okay. It's a movie called "Belle" and it is an anime movie but has been fully dubbed in English, it's about singing and all of the songs are absolutely amazing! The main characters voice is absolutely beautiful. I think the concept of the movie is really cool but I'm not sure if you would enjoy it so I recommend maybe watching a trailer to see if you want to sit through the entire movie or if you'd rather react to the individual songs. My personal favorite songs are "Gales of Song" and "U". I really hope you see this and at least listen to the song even if it's not in a reactive video! Love your videos ❤️
