Thank you for another great video Ellen, I just want to share with anyone who might read this comment. Soap making friend is a soap calculator that i use and it calculates the citric acid for you so you don't have to do the maths! Hope you don't mind me sharing that on your channel. Thanks for sharing your recipes and information.

I made this recipe yesterday. My neighbor had given me a set of four 16.9 oz mugs and I already have a ton of mugs, so I decided to fill the mugs with the dishsoap. They will take forever to use up! I tripled the recipe and in addition to the lemon I added "Forest Walk" by NOW essential oils and came up with a great scent. I had a little extra for a few mold bars. I ordered some little scrub brushes and may sell a couple of the mugs, or give them away to friends and family. Thanks for the tutorial!

Hi Ellen!! Howdy from Oklahoma!! 🤠 I made your solid dish soap recipe yesterday,,,I had just received my sunflower molds the day before from Amazon. I decided to use Lemon and Pink Grapefruit EO’s and did an in the pot swirl w BB’s Rose Pearl & Buttercup micas…I’ve only been soaping since May of this year, so I’m having lots of fun playing w all the colors,,,and learned how to do a hanger swirl from you, w my gear tie that you had suggested👍🏻 I also reconfigured my recipe to fill all 12 cavities(I hope I did all my math calculations
right!🤞🏻😅🤞🏻). So far, I’ve not worked w citric or stearic acids,,,This was such a fun recipe to try! I can’t wait till it cures so I can try it on my dishes! And perhaps sell a few…Thank you sooo much for your recipe, and the instructional video,,,you always do a fantastic job!👌🏻♥️👌🏻
Many blessings to you and your family!😊

Hey there, Lady! GREETINGS FROM VIRGINIA! It’s such a breath of fresh air, having a fellow soap maker near me! I just want to tell you how smart you are. Never would I have thought to use coffee filters to wrap my round soaps and I have struggled with ways of labeling them for years. Thank you so much for that little tidbit. I am going to make this soap and we’ll see how we do on the dishes because nowadays even Dawn doesn’t do a good job cutting the grease. Do you remember how strong it used to be? It could cut the grease on anything. I always think of my fellow soap maker when I’m driving through Tennessee, heading back to Virginia from home in southern Illinois visiting family. God bless you and I enjoy your videos.

Wow, I have been making soaps for many years for myself, and didnt know you could use citric acid, I was getting ready to make dish washing bar soaps when i cam across this video, i have make pure coconut oil soaps but it leaves a residue in my sink, then i started making liquid castile soap and liquid palm oil soap, they still leave a residue, I cant wait to try this, I have even been adding ingredients for Sydnet bar to see if the residue stops but its expensive, thank you for your video, I have been following Ellys for a long time and I had not come across that page about using citric acid, I found it, and for my next batch of liquid castile soap, I am going to try the citric acid, it so great, i hope it works, thanks for the video.

Hello,I made your recipe for this soap and I couldn't help my self trying to wait till it dries out, soooo, I used it a week after, i did the ph test before using it, and I have to tell you, i love it, cleans great and it doesn't leave a grease residue around the sink, that has been my main problems with castille soaps or just coconut soap, i have done many over the years. Thank you very much, I am going to keep making that one. I really recommend that soap.

Hi Ellen. I store all my soap recipes in a 3 ring binder. I use plastic sheet protectors to protect them. Also, I use sodium citrate. You use 1.3% to 3.90% of the total oil weight. For example, for a 500g oil batch oil with 2% sodium citrate (.02×500), so 10 grams of sodium citrate. I find it easier to do it this way. Amazon sells it.

Ellen, this is lovely! Thank you so much for the inspiration to finally make up a batch of these for gifts- I've been intimidated to use Citric Acid in soap but a non body bar seems like the perfect application to dip my toes into it! Where I am here in the Upper Midwest has VERY hard water so I've always heard that soap with citric acid is the best and I'm excited to see. My favourite soap calculator, Soapee, has recently added the citric acid adjustment as an option so it makes it even easier. I think I'm going to do a Lemon & Mint essential oil blend for my bars, I have a spray cleaner from Target that uses that blend to scent it and it smells divine ☺

Hi I’m curious if the calculations you did with the citric acid and lye when you said “For every gram of citric acid it will take .624 grams of lye to counteract the citric acid.”
…Is that universal or is that for this recipe specifically. I’m assuming it’s universal but I want to make sure. I want to start making soap and I’m trying to do some research.

No, stearic and citric acid are completey different. If you change any of the ingredients, be sure to run the numbers thru a soap calc and make sure your lye ratio is correct.

Hi, I love this recipe and have made it three times with success, but I made it again yesterday and my batch seized before I could get it into the molds. What temperature should I bring the oils and lye water to? Maybe it’s because of a different brand of lemon EO?
