    Wow. This was a great tutorial Donny. I have been doing a lot of head scratching lately on setting up preferences and your video really nailed it for me.

    Hello, I appreciate the fact that you upload a video to explain Pro Tools Preferences. Nevertheless, I think a lot of points are set aside and you are just telling us "Just leave this like that" when I wish I could trully understand each preference meaning. Maybe you can make another more precised video ; )

    • @learnprorecording
      @learnprorecording  Год назад +2

      Sure. I can try to put another more concise video on RUclips for you. I do have a more extensive explanation of the Pro Tools Preferences in a course that I have on my Learn Pro Recording platform. This one is made specifically for RUclips.
      When I say not to change things in your preferences, it's because if you change some things, Pro Tools freaks out and doesn't know what to do. Some things are better left alone when it comes to AVID, that's all. But thanks for looking in. I appreciate it. Hope it helps.

    I realize my question isn’t directly correlative
    But
    Do you trash Mac System preferences? And why, how often?
    Thanks

    • @learnprorecording
      @learnprorecording  Год назад

      If you mean the Pro Tools Preferences on my Mac, yes. I do this every week. We are a commercial studio. Meaning, we have multiple engineers working on our systems throughout the day. Each engineer may change something in the preferences so that Pro Tools works the way they like. There is a way in the new Pete Gates App to save and restore your preferences. This makes cleaning your preferences quick and easy. I will do an update to this video and post it to reflect the changes. Thanks for reminding me. Hope this helps. If you have more questions, reach out to info@LearnProRecording.com I can help.

    Do you know why my prefereces won't save? I am trying to enable "show insert assignment gain reduction meter" but it keeps unchecking itself? I'm running Pro Tools Artist 2024.3

    • @learnprorecording
      @learnprorecording  6 месяцев назад +1

      You may want to check with Avid. But that may be a feature only available on "Studio"
      and above. I have "Ultimate" and it works fine for me. Sorry, I can't be more help.

      @@learnprorecording I used to always be able to see them on this Pro Tools Artist version a few months ago but just noticed the meters missing recently. Now for some reason, I can’t enable the meters in my preferences.

      You can also get to your preferences by going got the Pro Tools menu at the top. Like everything in Pro Tools, there is more than one way to do things.

      @@louisepearson2430 Sorry about my lack of PC skills. This might possibly be a call to Avid? Or maybe check out some Pro Tools + PC Forums or FB Groups? I'm sure someone knows the answer.
