    🤓 A little about my eyesight: 🤓
    I have had glasses for astigmatism since I was 7 years old, but I only needed them for specific circumstances, like reading blackboards or night driving (not when I was 7, obviously).
    At the age of 22 I landed an office job, and with my lovely new money I bought a smart phone. 6 months later, I had myopia (also known as short sightedness or near sightedness) and had to wear glasses full-time.
    My prescription has been going up since then, and I have been freaking out as I sit back and watch my eyesight deteriorate, feeling helpless and scared.
    I was up to -3 in my left eye, and -2.5 in my right eye when I discovered Jake Steiner and the EndMyopia method.
    I am still only a few months in, but already I am seeing at almost -2.00 in my left eye -1.75 in my right eye. Small changes, but any improvement is amazing when my eyes have only been deteriorating for the last 10 years.
    I am loving knowing more about eyesight and how eyes function. It's fascinating, and learning so much feels empowering. I love that I no longer feel helpless about my vision. I have also quit my smartphone so I could get over my screen addiction. I even bought a Nokia to get me out of temptation's way! Since doing this, I have been making progress with my vision, but also have regained so much of my life and time and perspective, so this vision journey is definitely having positive knock-on effects in my life as a whole.

    You are making great points! Yes, getting rid of screen use is a process for me also. I just keep plugging away, have a relapse, and pull myself out of it. It is getting better. Some internal work seems to be involved to get off of them. It has been interesting to notice how I have changed since getting screens mostly out of the picture. Definitely worth it. :)

    Hi Gemily,
    Sorry, I accidentally posted this comment under one of your old videos, so now I moved it here:
    Congratulations on your great progress 🤩
    Glad to hear that you are finally over that annoying plateau!
    Do I understand correctly that basically what you are doing differently is:
    1. More visual awareness during outdoor times
    2. less phone use
    3. and bigger distance from computer screen during work?
    Or are there any other things you are doing? You mentioned you had been doing eye exercises in one of the previous videos this year - are you still doing those too?
    I am just asking because I think I am starting to hit the kind of plateau you'd been at 😒
    Thanks 😍

    When I do active focus, my eyes always feel dry and become watery, and then they sting a little. Do you think using eye drops will be a problem if I apply it just before I practice active focus? Also, congrats on the progress!!

  • @otiebrown9999
    @otiebrown9999 Год назад +2

    My continued suggestion;
    Report your vision, in terms of your reading your home Snellen.
    Why?
    I totally distrust any an all OD MEASURENTS!
    I must do it myself, as an Engineer.
    So, in my opinion, Gem, you should be reporting,
    "I read 20/50 VERY CONSISTENTLY",
    Both eyes open!
    Why do so many people refuse to do this simple, wise measurement step.
    I also use my own "test lenses", to confirm going from 20/50, to 20/20.
    The reason no one believes in "success", is that you do not take Snellen clearing as a personal goal.

    Thanks for answering, as I told you:
    It turns out that I went to the optician again and I have
    in the right eye: 3.25 myopia
    in the left eye: 3.50 myopia
    then in the right eye: 2.50 of astigmatism
    then left eye: 1.75 left eye
    I start by reducing 1.50 IN THE right EYE and 1.50 in the left eye
    That is, the glasses would stay like this:
    in the right eye: 1.75
    in the left eye: 2 of myopia
    then in the right eye: 2.50 of astigmatism
    then left eye: 1.75 left eye
    First we are going to start lowering, I do not lower astigmatism
    do you like my idea?

    Hi Gemily. I want to start by saying that I can't speak English which makes it very difficult for me to understand your and Jake Steiner's videos.... That's why I decided to write to you. I've been following you on youtube for a few weeks now and I want to fight for a good sight. Recently my ophthalmologist told me that my defect has worsened a lot (L -5, R -6.5). I am 24 years old and it worries me a lot. But I felt that I want to try to improve my eyesight. I would like to ask you for advice on what to do about glasses. I currently have my old glasses (L -3.75, R -5) but I also have astigmatism. I don't know what to do to prevent my defect from getting worse. Will getting new glasses a little weaker than L -5, R -6.5 be a good idea? Or will it stay with the old glasses? Until now I had astigmatism on one eye, now I have on the other eye.... I've already tried to practice active focus and it's working out pretty well for me. 🙂 I also want to ask you about glasses for computer work. I work at the computer many hours a day. What kind of glasses would you recommend me to buy for computer work? Unfortunately when I take my glasses off I can't see anything. but I heard on Jake's video that for computer or phone work you need different glasses, not the ones we have for looking away. Sorry to bother you and please answer.

    As you know I have been following your journey in the "EndMyopia" and you have made great progress in reducing your dependence on your need for glasses. Your earliest videos you were wearing glasses constantly. And in seeing your prescription I'm sure you felt quite blind without your glasses. I was very surprised when you replied to me and said that your eyesight was perfect until the age of 22 when you got your first glasses. Do you remember or even know what your first prescription was? it's very unusual for someone to first become myopic at that age. So I have to ask what or why you went for an eye exam that resulted in you being prescribed glasses? Were you having any issues with your eyesight at the time, such as driving at night and having difficulty reading road signs or other things in the distance or did you feel like you were seeing distances perfectly fine? You should know that I could, and have, given more than one young lady glasses with either a -.50 SPH or -.75 SPH and even after telling them that the glasses had prescription lenses they insisted they could see signs in the distance clearer and sharper with the glasses better than without glasses. After retiring from being an optician I was still an active member of the Lion's Club which is a non profit vision group that helps low income people get eye exams and glasses. So due to that I had a a sample case with between 75 and 85 pairs of glasses in it with various low prescriptions that I used to determine if someone was in need of an eye exam and glasses. Nearly all of my samples came from Zenni Optical which worked with us. I had found out that most restaurants don't provide any health insurance for their employees. I found this out when a server was taking my order and she asked me what the score in game was that was on one of their big screen TV's? I told her the score and she thanked me. I jokingly asked her where her glasses were? She admitted that she broke her glasses and she couldn't afford the cost of new ones. That was when she told me that the restaurant didn't provide insurance to their employees. I directed her to where she could go and get her eyes examined since she had been without glasses for over a year and a half. Once she had her prescription in hand I showed her the glasses in my sample case and had her pick from the samples and then I placed her order for her for her. Of course as she going through my samples she attracted the attention of her co-workers and most of them were very interested since they also wore glasses and were over due new glasses. One of the young ladies that wasn't wearing glasses was asking me lots of questions and she was very interested in one pair especially. She asked the price and i told her that it was $12.95 and $5.00 for the optional AR coating which I suggested everyone should have on their glasses. I told her that all she needed to do was get a copy of her most recent prescription and I would order her glasses for her and they would be in, in about 14 days. She then surprised me when she said she didn't need glasses and she was sure because she had just had her eyes examined a few months earlier due to her playing on her college softball team. All the players had to get their eyes checked. I then told her that I could then place her order for her glasses without a prescription and they would be in even faster than 14 days. She wanted to know why se couldn't just buy the sample pair she was wearing? I told her that it was my only sample of that pair and that the pair she was wearing had a -.50 prescription in them. She looked all around the restaurant and said she could see everything just fine even if they did have a prescription in them. I told her they could cause her to actually need glasses. But that didn't seem to bother her and she was insistent on buying that pair. After another warning I finally gave in and sold her the glasses. I even told her that if she changed her mind I would take them back and refund her money. She paid me and walked away wearing her new glasses. She came back later to tell me she was able to see things slightly better wearing glasses. I saw her several more times when I went their for dinner and she was wearing her glasses every time. So my point is that when you went for that eye exam when you were 22 I really wonder if you actually needed glasses or if the doctor was just a company employee helping the store make a sale of glasses. Optical stores are the same as any other retail store. But the difference is when you go into a shoe store no one is going to prescribe you new shoes to wear. You would maybe only buy a pair if you didn't have a pair on your feet. Well when the optometrist tells you that you need glasses your next thing is going into the attached store and start looking for a frame for your first glasses. I'm exactly sure what the percentage is now but at one time approximately 86% of the people needing glasses bought them from the same location as the doctor worked out of. So like any other retail business the manager of that store has a sales quota he or she must meet. If they miss that quota more than one month they can expect a visit from the regional manager to read them the riot act. So it's not uncommon for the manager to push the doctor to be more aggressive in writing prescriptions. Your first prescription was almost certainly somewhere between -.50 SPH and-1.00 SPH. And even if your eyesight was perfect you were still young enough that your eyes wouldn't have had any problem adjusting to the prescription of your glasses in less than day. Because your glasses were in fact making things in the distance clearer and sharper you wouldn't have any reason to question your need for glasses. I'm sure it didn't take long before things in the distance that you used to be able to see just fine was now rather blurry without your glasses. Unwillingly you had "induced myopia" Your perfect eyesight was now ruined. Wearing glasses had encouraged your eyes to change after that. you were now on that "slippery slope"
    In looking back at your very first video which I even commented on. It was easy to see just how dependent you had become on your glasses. The constant wear had left it's mark on you. I'm sure before you stared wearing glasses you never had that puffy under eye darkness. That was totally caused by your wearing glasses all the time. What age were you when you did that video. That video was over 5 years ago. this video is from just a little over 18 months ago and since your not wearing glasses as much, that puffy under eye darkness is nearly completely gone and you look younger than you did 5 years ago.
    So what is your most recent prescription?

    Hi. I have a question that I really need help with. I would like to have weaker glasses made by the optician tomorrow in order to train active focus and not to overexert my eyes at the same time, but I don't know how much diopter I should reduce in both eyes. i will only wear the glasses when i absolutely need them and my eyes are overstrained. So, the following: I have a visual impairment of +2.25 and -1 on the left (astigmatism). on the right I have 1.5 and -1 (astigm.). I'm wondering what I should do: left +1.75 and right +1.5, AND -1 astigmatism correction of -1 on both eyes, so that the left eye can first adjust to the right one. OR +1.5 and 0.5 astigmatism correction on both eyes so that the left eye adjusts more quickly and I also have less astigmatism correction at the same time. OR omit the astigmatism correction entirely, since, as far as I know, it changes, changes and adapts all the time anyway, almost constantly, every few minutes. help, I need advice, I'm totally overwhelmed!

    Just going with no glasses, will be a major success for you.

    I started doing active focus for the past 1week. I think i wasn't doing it right I used to put too much pressure on my eyes. Now i can't see lights at night they look too bright. Before i did not have this problem. I started getting headaches too. I have stopped doing active focus from past 2 days my headache has gone but still i can't see lights at night. Did i worsen my eyes by doing a big mistake or did i cut my nerve or something??
    Please reply me i am too scared

    Hello just curious, what should I do when I accidentally active focus while taking measurements for my eyes? It's so annoying and leads to like such a different measurement

      change to -2.25 -1cyl left, -0.75 -1.75 cyl right. so just a quarter diopter sphere power on each eye. leave cyl alone for now.

    What is outside time actually? How do you measure it

    • @happylifestore
      @happylifestore 7 месяцев назад +1

      You measure it by the time you are outside.

    • @Stephaniacat
      @Stephaniacat 23 дня назад

      you have to at least expend 2 hours outside. Your eyes get used to being inside all the time and actually makes your eyesight worse. Most of the people who had progress said that it helped going outside and cutting off screentime. Like you literally have to stopped using your phone or computer. It really messes up your eyesight

    any updates ? I don't think you will succeed because you said u cost three hours a day to "train" your eye, you don't make active focus as your habit

    How evil must an opthanmologist be to still not talk about this even with "science" backing..

      Ophthalmologist deal with optic nerve problems, cataracts, eye infections, etc. Not purely vision correction. Calling them evil is a stretch.

      Hi Mia,
      No, they are not evil.
      Some know the correct solution.
      They know thay you will not do it.

      Some Ophthalmologists help their own children with effective prevention.
      We should learn from them!!

      Reduce screen time and all close up work, go outside see distance and relax, and once in a while try to focus on the slightly blur object on the distance, help ur eye make adjustments to the distance in relax state

      Use plus lenses when close up for 30 min at a time. Also push screen back farther than 20 in
