- The Sex On The Beach has a couple of different origin stories and like a lot of drink we don't exactly know where this one started. The most accepted version of this story has it that in 1987 a spirits company called National Distribution wanted to boost Sales of Peach Schnapps. The launched a competition to award $1000 to the bar that sold the most peach Schnapps and $100 to the bartender who did. Legend has it that a bartender named Ted Pizio who worked at a bar called Confetti in Ft. Lauderdale Fla. created the Sex On The Beach and won the competition. Although that is the most touted version there are those who say that it couldn't be true because the actual original recipe of the Sex On The Beach was actually first recorded in a book called "American Bartenders School Guide To Drinks" published in 1982, so if it's true it kinda refutes the Pizio story. I don't know if anyone has a copy of this book or it's merely conjecture but I'm thinking it's the latter because if someone had the actual book this would be an easy one to get to the bottom of. Seems like someone thinks they saw it in the book and put it out there that the other story is false. We on the other hand may never know, but does it really matter? Methinks not!

Mathew: A man of experience. One small correction. 18.5 years. In most states it’s age 19 OR when the bundle of joy graduates from high school. Which ever comes first. (If the kid is a genius and skips a few grades then it’s age 18 :)

I went to New England School of Bartending (Boston) back in 1992, the dark ages of the cocktail. This and the Long Island Iced Tea were all the rage back then.
It wouldn't surprise me if this Pizio chap saw or heard about the recipe and decided to enter that in the comp hoping no one would notice.
When I lived in Cairo in the late 90s, a lot of the popular expat spots had a variation called "Sex on a Felucca" (Nile sailboat). Can't recall what was in it, and haven't found it on Google.

I love you struggling not to laugh at a club cocktail haha. I spy that Creme De Noyeaux in the back. Any cocktails with it coming soon? We've got a bottle and I tried using it the other day. Made a stirred Gin, Lillet, Creme De Noyeaux drink over a rock with a lemon peel. It was tasty, but I'd love to see some established cocktails with it.

Yes..Like the Fernet Flip. An unusual but very satisfying nightcap cocktail.
Look for a Catholic Guilt, it's like a Penicillin, but with a Fernet Branca float and fig bitters.
In Argentina we mix it with coke, it’s one of the most popular drink here. The proportion is 30% fernet, 70% coke, and ice!!
Leave it at someone’s house and hope they drink it, that’s what I did 😀
What kind of cranberry juice should be used? I have pure 100% cranberry juice, but it's very tart. Should I use a cranberry juice with some added sugar to balance it out or is 100% fine?
Steam Mocking I use the pure stuff too, if there’s too much added sugar it’ll make the drink too sweet

It depends, if you want your drink to be sweet you can add syrup in the cramberry juice, I prefer 100% natural but its up to you.
