- Five Easy Tequila Cocktails!
I was really bummed to not have been able to get this video out for National Tequila Day, I try hard to get out videos for all the good national drinking holidays but alas I failed. That said, a lot of people have been asking me about how to use Tequila and so I thought a video on five great Tequila drinks was in order. As always I tried to vary the drinks to give the makers a good rounded tequila experience but since it is still summer and pretty hot, decided on some shaken cocktails, maybe volume 2 will be stirred drinks. I also made sure that all the drinks could be made with four tools: Shaker set, jigger, hawthorn strainer and fine strainer. Alright guys! Go get it!
Here's links to the tools I use in this episode:

Hahahaha dude that's so cool I watch both you guys! Great stuff man
Haha I was just about to say something about you and then he did it :D
The Educated Barfly finally had time to watch this in full.. loved the Shake & Smile attempt 🤣😬🍻
I was literally thinking to myself the other day that you could combine mezcal and tequila like a penicillin combines blended and smoky scotch. Perfect! Love the Medicine Latina. Nice format!

2. Infante 2:44
3. Siesta 3:54

“I thought about Steve the Bartender while I was shaking”
I bet you’re not the only one...
Sameeee
I don’t get it
Great mix of cocktails, savings this to my tequila cocktail playlist to reference later.
Love the Penicilin variation. I'm gonna try and make a Brazilian one with Cachaça as well, since we have good variety of cachaças in Brazil. Silver cachaça as a main spirit and maybe some Amburana or Jambú Cachaça for the float. Thanks guys! You're the best
Loved this episode! Just restocked my tequila and I'm excited to try these! Thanks!
"And there it is, the Medicina Latina, getthatouttamyway" 🤣
ahahhaah best moment, i just wanted to see this comment
I love the camaraderie that seems to exist between you guys and Steve the Bartender.
Really hoping a crossover episode can happen at some point!
Working on it :)
I added this to my favorites! The Matador and the Mendicina Latina look like some cocktails I would like!! El Diablo is my favorite tequila cocktail right now!
A joy to watch as always. Finally finding some us of my tequila
Can't wait to try these!
When you mentioned Don Javier, I almost choked. He’s friends with my grandparents and I had no idea he was credited for creating Palomas.
Alfredo Durán i met him. Great man and those batangas are legendary
KayCee Gomez Legendary indeed. Unfortunately, Don Javier passed away almost a month ago. We couldn’t go to the funeral because of the lockdown. But the whole town sent their thoughts and prayers, he was really well known in Tequila.
This is dope in a way. He made one of the most legendary drinks in the world and never knew he was credited with it. Wow.
Great series idea, looking forward to seeing more spirits!
Siesta! One of my all time favourites 👍
The El Diablo is also one of my favorites. Great video. 👍
I'm definitely playing with more tequila this Summer. As always, LOVING the history! Cheers!
Tonight at work, they all going to drink SIESTA. Thanks for the awesome cocktails!
Matador and Medicina Latina both sound very refreshing.
Maybe you could do one of these videos on your favorite Brandy cocktails? There aren't a lot of compilations out there about that particular spirit. 😁
Aria Leitner same I bought brandy and don’t know what to do with it
Two suggestions:
1) The Sidecar.
2) The Vieux Carré
Germans also have a version of Irish Coffee called Rüdesheimer Kaffee, made with brandy (Asbach if you're being really authentic) that's worth looking into.
Just some suggestions from left field.
@@christopherreed4723 Rüdesheimer Kaffee sounds delicious and I'll have to try the Sidecar when I can get a wee bottle of triple sec. :) thanks
Just what I needed, great channel
Also, thank you for including a cocktail with an Amaro (Campari)! I’m always looking for a way to sneak it into everything 😬
Great video! Can't wait to try these! I have some friends who only drink tequila, in my rum serving tiki bar.
Thats HILARIOUS, I was thinking as you were shaking, I like how steve smiles while shaking, then you started smiling, then said that comment about how you thought about steve and grimaced😂
All of f those things are done ✅ great video! Btw Stve shakes on the right 😉
Those garnishes are what really give the drinks a peel (haha get it... a peel appeal)
😍😍
Just made them all (except the paloma, since you can't find grapefruit soda here) in one evening, and my goodness they were all good! Awesome awesome awesome!
Thank you!!
I did my versión of the infante adding .o5 oz of dry curaçao and i love the complexity!
Nice! That Medicina Latina sounds bomb!
jus picked up bulleit bourbon, cola, myers's platinum white jamaican rum & soda. that is my setup of the week, time to watch barfly baby
Drop the syrup (the squirt is already sweet) and add salt! A very refreshing Paloma ❤️☺️
Yummy, time to make some!
Your Paloma is the best Paloma I've tasted out of every bartender on YT by far. Sipping one right now. 🙌🏿
Looks amazing
La Paloma’s origins that I’m familiar with come from a tradition of taking a shot of tequila and following with a shot of ruby red grapefruit soda.
I worked at a Mexican bar with kitchen staff from Jalisco and Oaxaca who both separately provided that same story.
Our Paloma was:
1.25oz Blanco Tequila
1oz Grapefruit Juice
.75oz Lime Agave syrup
Top with Tamarind or Grapefruit Jarritos Soda
Serve in a rocks glass with a Tajin rim and slice of grapefruit.
Won best cocktail in Mobile, AL last year :)
Paolo Camero I still at odds with sweetener in a Paloma...
I just love how he shake 💓
Awesome video 👌🏽
I love tequila great job
Loved the smile.
nice! I just made the La Paloma 🤤
Your thumbnail game is crazy good 🔥
Thanks!
Nice Apron. I love my stagger lee apron. Its now covered in pins though.
Bartender: "Here's your drink."
The Educated Barfly: "AND THERE YOU HAVE IT"
Just tried the Matador!
! Qué rico !
Great video !
I didn't know Pedro Infante had his own Tequila cocktail. Ill have to try it one day. For summer, most Mexicans go to refresher cocktail is definitely the Paloma. Refreshes and tastes awesome. We usually add a little salt.
Replace the simple syrup for some salt in the paloma, also good 👌🏼
This was another excellent video. Can you do this for gin? Rum? Vodka? Lol
I like to make the paloma as a spritzer with
2oz of repasado (as its my tequila of choice)
.5oz of simple syrup or agave syrup if its on hand
1oz of lime juice fresh squeezed of course
4oz of grapefruit juice
And i top the glass with no more than 7oz of seltzer water more often less based on the glass and garnish with a lime wheel. Its fantastic on a hot summer day
I died a little inside when you made the Paloma
Thanks for your hospitality at Cole's, had to split for my flight back to Florida. I'll have to remember the recipe for that shot :p
Was cool seeing the master at work.
oooh now I see your screen name and instantly recognize it visually moreso than when you told me what it was. Great to have you come in man! Thanks!
Yeah, I kinda figured you'd recognise it on here
Glad I could find some time. Helped make the trip memorable.
@@nbr1rckr Glad you came by! It was nice meeting you!
Love Pedro Infante songs!! And movies....
New subscriber here XD its an irony that i worked as a bartender before but doesn't drink alcohol XD
Ill try my best to find these in grocery or liquor store XD
These videos are very appealing to watch as a foodie who just began trying alcohol 🤣
So a mazing drinks😍🍹
Almost a year late, but I gotta say, the Infante is ridiculously good. So simple I'm mad I didn't think of it, but happy that you introduced it to my life. Thanks for your work man!
thank you!!!
Lmaoooo never compare the legend Pedro Infante with Frank Sinatra 😂😂😂😂
You have it backwards sweetheart.
Also the Siesta is genius.
Great video! But I noticed something I can’t figure out. In the video you use agave syrup for the Matador but it doesn’t show up in the description. Checking online most recipes omit the syrup. Could you please clarify. Thanks!
Tequila mule is my fave.
I like that apron
Very nice. 3 of these are new to me and I’m going to give them a go. BTW I watched an old vid of yours concerning the Vesper. I always wanted to like the original Vesper. I’d make it once a year and be let down. Your corrected version gave me insight into why I didn’t like James Bond’s recipe. Your version is on my to do list. Main reason I bring up the Vesper however lol is how much you’ve up’d your game since then. Marius may have a small part in that. Regardless great job.
Pete West Marius is a big part of that for sure!
Great video, friend
Thanks James.
I don't drink but I do love to see how cocktails are made
I'll be giving that Matador a go. I do enjoy a Paloma. On a bourbon note, I ran across a cocktail called the Old Hill. Check it out, it's delicious.
What do you do in videos like this one were you make a ton of cocktails at once? Do yall drink them or drain pour? Alot for you and Marius to down lol
Stager Lee Goods doors are closed! Haha...
I like the little message that they’re on vacation but was kinda bummed I can’t even window shop!
We're messaging him!
Use Fresca instead of squirt, they sell it at every meijer
My recommended section: 5 easy Tequila cocktails
Me a 15 year old kid: hmmmm yes interesting
(i do like seeing the history behind these drinks though it is really cool!)
thank you sir I want be a efficient bartender like you thanks once again
Hey man! The La Paloma looks delicious and I would love to try it out. Unfortunately we don't have Squirt where I live. Any recommendations for a replacement to the ingredient? Thanks for awesome videos, keep up the good work!
Arya03 yeah any grapefruit soda will do and if you don’t have that use fresh grapefruit juice with soda water
@@TheEducatedBarfly : much obliged!
Thumbs up for Amaro book in the background!
How do you male a simple syrup and does it keep very long?
Could you please do vodka cocktails? I hate drinking vodka neat or doing shots, and that's pretty much all my friends bring to the parties xD
@@bigfiretogetherforever5047 mate, I'm student from Poland. All slavs here. Besides all: every broke college kid is drinking vodka here, cause §12 for 700ml bottle of vodka is almost considered premium xD
Big Fire!!! Together forever!!! Just because they do shots of liquor that isn’t a fancy of an individual they should get new friends?? How’s that making sense
Moscow mule is pretty much the only vodka cocktail i make 😅
I will definitely do a vodka series. There are some really good ones
@@lstar3712
It's called "humor" you should try it dome times
:rolls eyes:
Mt. Dippity Dew: 1.5ml Blanco Tequila, 1 can full-sugar Mt. Dew, 1/2 cup granulated sugar & ice. Mix well. Garnish with a 4" perfectly thin hotdog sliver. Refreshing!
Commenting as requested. Would you consider a Glossary of terms episode? Could be handy!
yes! Thats a great idea!
Thanks would be great to know the difference between a whip shake and a normal shake. Also wash lines, still can't find a definitive answer online. Thanks!
What are good drinks to mix with tequila?
For anyone that sews, watching you cut the citrus peel with the pinking sheers was a slow little death. The cocktail a l m o s t makes up for it.
I’ve always put grapefruit juice in my Paloma 🧐
I may be 2 years late but you got my like!
Damn that's one monster of a grapefruit, around here they're just the size of oranges
Tequila is my Lady, my Lady.
2:04 - I can't buy Squirt anywhere in my country. Can I replace it with something more popular like MD?
Yeah you can replace it with any grapefruit soda
Can I replace general syrup for maple syrup?
Cocktails with Zacapa Rum please!
In your opinion, does reposado vs. silver tequila change the complexity in the cocktail? Thank you and salud!
Yes, big time, reposado is a lot softer, and the agave flavour doesn't hold up as well in cocktails as Blanco tequila does. The barrel notes from reposado tequila work perfectly in some cocktails like a Tommys margarita or a yellow jacket, but to hold up against the campari in a siesta, for example, Blanco is irreplaceable.
What is the reason for the double strain again?
Darn who gets to drink these 🍸🍹
you do, at your house!
Where do I get a similar shaker setup?
I think in Norway we'd just call that a red wine glass.
Muggy? In LA? He's obviously never been to the South lol. Nice video though, I'll enjoy these drinks a lot!
I’ve been to Mississippi in the middle of August! That said all things in their own context youknowwhutimean?
@@TheEducatedBarfly Haha, I'm just playing with you :)
In the “matador” can chartreuse can be replace with midori?
For color maybe, chartreuse and midori taste nothing alike.
Wow
Had the ingredients on hand for number 2, so I _had_ to pause and go make one to sip while I finished the rest of the vid. The Infante is definitely _E-Z_ and very enjoyable; hard to believe it took until 2015 for someone to make this combo official(!?).
Do you bartenders ever make cocktails without alien ingredients…… 🧐
Sarcasm? 🧐
Many drinks use normal ingredients. Most sours for example use lemon or lime typically, a regular spirit typically, and a sweetener which is usually simple syrup or an orange liqueur like triple sec. How would you define alien ingredient? Are chartreuse and maraschino alien? Are more complex syrups alien? Already with lime or lemon, simple syrup, you can make depending on the spirits you have a gin sour, daiquiri, and simple Whiskey sour. If you get egg and Angostura bitters which is a versatile ingredient that will last you long and is by no means alien to the cocktail world, you can make a better Whiskey sour and if you get red wine you can make the new york sour. With triple sec with rather stuff I previously mentioned you can now make sidecars, White lady's, and Margaritas. If you are willing to make more complex syrups which are mostly just making simple syrup but with other ingredients you can the Clover Club and Bees Knees extremely easily. With a sweet and dry Vermouth you now get Manhattans and simple martinis. If you get Peychaud's and absinthe so far the most alien ingredients you can make Sazeracs whuch reminds me I forgot to mention old Fashioneds assuming you have oranges for the peel.
@@ozymandias3456 🤓
Sincere question. Why do you double strain everything.
Dylan Howard keep the ice chips out because ice shreds as you shake
Hey Educated Barfly, I noticed you edited out when those fancy gold shakers froze together, didn't you...?
Le roi des cocktails c est Alessandro... ❤️💓❤️je vais bientôt y retourner
You missed the agave syrup in the show notes for the Matador.
Mark Gatten oh thanks will fix
