I think it's largely reviled in Japan, but afaik the majority back in the 'States is lukewarm at worst. it's just bankers or any business person with large, smooth concrete structures outside of their establishments that get a little wary. Old people might hate on skaters a little more though, but with people like Tony Hawk soaring into their late 40's, the haters are being gradually replaced, right? Conservatism rules the day here in Japan though, the battle to accept skateboards and longboards as legitimate transportation and sports here is gonna be long and uphill.
