    Love the idea of a liquid batter, thanks. I'm going to try it in my NutriBullet adding water and liquid in first with 1/2 quantity. Made 4 x 1/4 cup small wraps.
    I tried it and it worked perfectly, the only difference I didn't sift out the meal so it didn't puff up but was still soft, pliable and no lumps.

      Yes with whole wheat flour it will puff up if your batter consistency is right and follow my exact steps but with gram flour or besan you still can make it ( it’s called chilla) but it won’t puff up due to gram flour texture but still it’s very tasty and worth trying. Well, ive been engaged in making these for for a number of months now. Often there is a mix of flours which are particularly difficult to handle eg bajra, juwahar, etc, and these will include some spices and dhanya and spring onions etc.
    That aside, how do you think just making plain chapatis using batter compares with dough in terms of time. I'd say longer, any thoughts on this? And I only use cast iron because of plastic issues with nonstick.
    If making chapati on cast iron do you use some oil on the tava first or not?
    So two questions
    1. Time?
    2. Oil on Cast Iron for plain chappati?

    • @FoodZealot
      @FoodZealot  5 месяцев назад

      I would not recommend cast iron for this recipe but if you really wanted to do it in cast iron, it has to be really seasoned good. Yes, a couple of drops of oil should suffice

    • @ivarhakuse8572
      @ivarhakuse8572 5 месяцев назад

      @@FoodZealot Thanks for your reply. Regarding Nonstick, I never ever use it as a matter of principle and am quite shocked and disturbed by the number of people who still do. I think people have taken it to be normal when in fact it’s not. I’ve told all my friends to simply trash it. I don’t care how much it cost. Trash the poison. Trash non-stick and Aluminium. I only ever use cast iron, some stainless steel and then Indian clay ware.
      Anyway how were you as a student at school? Now, There were two clearly Numbered questions on two totally different questions. And then there was your answer!!! Listen, you have to laugh sometimes 😂 or 😆 or 🤭 or 😢 or 😭.

    • @FoodZealot
      @FoodZealot  Год назад +15

      Hi Persia! Yes you can definitely make it with All Purpose Flour! Please follow my video minutely. It will definitely come out perfect as it’s shown in the video! Let me help you by highlighting some key factors
      1. Liquid dough(batter) should be runny consistency. Please watch carefully the consistency of batter I showed in the video.
      2. Rest the batter at least 10-15 minutes. The more is better.
      3. Sieve it through to ensure there are no lumps.
      4. Pour batter in a medium heat pan. If the pan is too hot, you will not get a perfect Roti.
      5. Once you pour the batter, do not touch it until you see bubbles. Same with the other side.
      6. Press it, rotate it and flip it until it completely puffs up.
      Hopefully it helps. Let me know how it turned out. Thank you for watching dear and happy cooking 💕

    In the end i think the pan was often too hot when pouring the batter in. Lots of small bubbles would appear and i quickly learned that one would be a dud. Letting the pan cool to a low heat before pouring the next one helped, but i still had the odd dud

    If i were to double this up, would it still come out right? I imagine because its liquod it would. But with the original way Tortilla was made, anytime i try to make a huge batch it always comes out more like apache bread. Hawwah Great Spirit Bless.

    • @FoodZealot
      @FoodZealot  Год назад

      It doesn’t need baking powder to raise as long as it’s whole wheat and all purpose flour but if you use gluten free flour most probably it will not puff up due to the texture of the flour. But still you can make it. It tastes really good 👍😊

      Either you didn’t rest the batter or your batter might have been too watery. Just pour a laddle full (don’t put too much) and do not touch it until it dries. Hope it helps! Thank you so much for trying out. Let me know if you have any questions 😊

    2 questions for us in banting diet.
    1)can I use almond flour or coconut flour
    2)can i use a mixer for the dough?

    • @FoodZealot
      @FoodZealot  Год назад +3

      Thank you so much for asking me this question. 1. You can make it with mixing some regular flour in it but it will probably not fluff up because of the texture of almonds and coconut flour but taste will definitely be good. I tried it at home. If you want to avoid mixing regular flour, you can use xanthan gum instead.
      2. Yes you can use mixer but the consistency should be right and do not blend it too much. Just blend it until combine. Hope this help ❤️

      Perhaps your flour was packed? That would change how much flour is actually going in. I would personally add small bits of water until you reach that milky consistency.
