Great recipe, if you add flax seed powder or grains and you leave it for few minutes, it acts as gluten and it reduces the chance of breaking it when flipping the baking ....

Jowar Paratha Recipe by Nisha Homey: Ingredients: 1 cup jowar atta (sorghum flour) 1 cup water Additional 1/2 to 1 cup water Salt to taste 8 garlic cloves (finely chopped) 1 green chilli (sliced) 1 to 1.5 tbsp coriander leaves (finely chopped) 1.5 tbsp A2 desi ghee (or wood-pressed oil) Steps: In a bowl, mix jowar atta with 1 cup water. Mix well, then add salt. Add 1/4 cup water and mix well. Add another 1/4 cup water. Water should be added little by little to avoid batter from being too loose. Add more water if batter is still too thick. Consistency should be pourable, neither goopy nor watery. Add garlic, green chilli & coriander leaves to the batter. Mix well, then add in A2 desi ghee. Batter should be of flowing consistency. Set batter aside for 5-10 minutes. Batter should have slightly thickened. Add in 2 tbsp water and mix well. Heat a cast iron tawa and reduce flame to lowest. Grease the tawa with wood-pressed gingelly oil. Take 1 to 1.5 ladleful of the batter and pour on the tava. Tava should be medium hot, NOT very hot. Spread out the batter lightly. Cover tava & cook on low flame for 1 minute. Top portion of the dough should be cooked, not sticky. After 30-40 seconds, flip dough over. Cook for another 30s and flip over. Lightly press down the sides. repeat the flips and pressing down the sides until the dough puffs up. When the roti puffs up, continue cooking until the dough turns brown. Once cooked, serve on plate. Batter can be kept in fridge for 3-4 days
Loved this lovely fool proof recipe. I have mostly made wheat rotis my entire life and struggled with gluten free rotis. Not anymore. Thank you so much for your wonderful recipes.
I'm in Canada and just found your channel. Lovely video. I wanted to point out that the flour to water ratios did not work for me. I used sweet sorghum flour in one batch and millet flour in the other batch. The water I used was only one cup, not 1.75 as in the video. The texture of the sweet sorghum was not the same as in the video, but the millet did look similar. With both batches, I could not get the batter to be thin in the pan, even though they were thin to pour. The batters became very thick as soon as I poured into the pan. I had my stove on medium heat. While I was disappointed I couldn't get wraps out of the batches, I did use them as sandwiches as well as with humus and other dips. Very tasty. I will make again as is. I am on the hunt for the flour you used though to be able to make the wraps.
Thank you for this amazing recipe. Hi all, I decided to try it out although I saw negative posts. I used in addition onions chopped very fine and some kasuri methi. I used a seasoned iron tawa. Let me tell you all, I was able to flip sides several times, it did not break, the second one fluffed up a bit too. I am sure by third fourth roti I can work on it fluffing more. I think it’s all about the right heat, the right batter consistency, have you kept it long enough. Yes it was very tasty ❤️

thanks, really impressed , have got 2 questions ,can we prepare it on non sticking or inodised tawa if not cast iron tawa ? will it remain soft if packed in lunch box for lunch , while at job ?
Jowar flour also makes wonderfully easy and delicious dosas; once I learned this, I started making them at least once a week. I don’t have a grinder, so regular rice/dal dosas aren’t really doable for me. If you want to make crispy jowar dosas, add a little rice flour to the millet flour. It works very well with minimal effort or equipment.
Thank you mam this is a wonderful recipe. We eat jowar roti but we use hot water to make the roti dough. From what I saw you used water at room temperature.
Thank you for healthy recipes! Would be super helpful if the recipe card is posted along with the video, this way we can quickly refer the proportions while cooking
I had no success with this but I wonder if it was because I used red sorghum flour? 1 cup of that flour and then 1 cup of water made it runny already at that point so I couldn’t add more water. Any tips greatly appreciated!
Hello from California! I attended ur workshop on line & learned a lot. I had a request, please can you show us variation of Amaranth/Rajgira roti's with no potatoes, but with spinach or beets as it's a powerhouse of vitamins & minerals, appreciate it, thank U:)
Made this for my One year old toddler and he absolutely loved it. Added garlic onion and coriander with a pinch of freshly crushed cumin seeds. Itwas very flavorful. My only problem was it wouldn't fluff up. It looked like a pan cake. Followed your detailed steps just the qtys varied. Could be because of that.
I wud suggest that you first make the parathas exactly the way it has been illustrated and explained. Once you attain success and are confident then you may carry out various variations and add the ingredients of your choice and taste. All the best….!

I love how you explained the nutrition content and precautions, I was looking for easy wrap with more potassium and those micronutrients that you mentioned. I want to cook more with traditional flours and preps. I am trying making Dosa but I am confused if dal dosas are safe to eat if made just by soaking the dal overnight and no fermentation

I’ve been gluten free and having jowar and amaranth rotis with avocados for breakfast. The roti from the roti presser always is a bit hard although tasty .Will try this fabulous liquid recipe now. It can be had anytime. Thanks for your great HEALTHY recipes!
Good Idea
Mam salute to you for introducing gluten free paratha its an amazing preparation thanks a lot may god bless you ❤❤❤
My pleasure 😊

Thank you for this great recipe! Did you say it *~raises~* blood sugar though?
It actually lowers blood sugar.
thanks, really impressed , have got 2 questions ,can we prepare it on non sticking or inodised tawa if not cast iron tawa ?
will it remain soft if packed in lunch box for lunch , while at job ?
Jowar flour also makes wonderfully easy and delicious dosas; once I learned this, I started making them at least once a week. I don’t have a grinder, so regular rice/dal dosas aren’t really doable for me. If you want to make crispy jowar dosas, add a little rice flour to the millet flour. It works very well with minimal effort or equipment.
I have no eaten jowar dosa and roti
Wow that's a great idea 👌💞
Please give the recipe for dosa
Thank you mam this is a wonderful recipe. We eat jowar roti but we use hot water to make the roti dough. From what I saw you used water at room temperature.
Will this work with bajra atta? Looks superbly healthy and delicious
Thankyou ma'am, it looks amazing, you made it so easily and explained well.
Thank you for healthy recipes! Would be super helpful if the recipe card is posted along with the video, this way we can quickly refer the proportions while cooking
Thank you for the recipe, I love the way you explain the recipe. So detailed, specially the health advantage.
I had no success with this but I wonder if it was because I used red sorghum flour? 1 cup of that flour and then 1 cup of water made it runny already at that point so I couldn’t add more water. Any tips greatly appreciated!
Someone said you sound like English teacher, guess yes but you also sound like Nirmala Sitharaman! Amazing presentation skills and narration!
Hello from California! I attended ur workshop on line & learned a lot. I had a request,
please can you show us variation of Amaranth/Rajgira roti's with no potatoes, but with spinach or beets as it's a powerhouse of vitamins & minerals, appreciate it, thank U:)
Really I like it as it don’t require kneeding 😊😊😊😊 would give a try certainly
Made this for my One year old toddler and he absolutely loved it. Added garlic onion and coriander with a pinch of freshly crushed cumin seeds. Itwas very flavorful. My only problem was it wouldn't fluff up. It looked like a pan cake. Followed your detailed steps just the qtys varied. Could be because of that.
Maybe you didn't chop the onion finely and added jeera also so it didn't fluff up
I wud suggest that you first make the parathas exactly the way it has been illustrated and explained. Once you attain success and are confident then you may carry out various variations and add the ingredients of your choice and taste. All the best….!
My paratha was like dosa. Can you tell us the tip to make it fluffy.
Mine too and dry
Mine too... no idea why...
Try mixing water little by little in stages.. Then make sure you rest it atleast 10 minutes before cooking
@@ultrasamy3017 ok will try again.
Hello mam thank you for sharing the excellent recipe. Can we substitute Ragi flour?
Nisha ma'am, I am a big fan of yours. I tried this recipe and it turned out so well. I added methi leaves also and it was delicious. Thank you for giving info on the nutrional value of every ingredient used in the recipe, you are wonderful. I also loved your moringa leaves paratha. loved it. keep posting healthy recipes.
Can non stick pan be used for this recipe?
Pls reply can it be made on non stick pan
Nonstick utensils not good for health..
But is it possible to make on a non stick pan.
Nutritive value information is so very useful and I love you more for that Nisha

Very gud fr health n nice gluton free recipee
Nisa madam, I tried this recipe, it's first time, but will try again. Thanks. May be it depends on flour quality as well. Where I live , I don't get fresh flour as in India. But keep trying. Thanks very much for sharing.
Hi Nisa, mine dod not puff up like paratha. It was like dosa. Is it because the jowar flour was old
Mine didn't even turn out
I like ur recipes a lot, thank u, Just a request, can you kindly make ur videos a bit short. Thank u mam
Yes please
I made this for dinner and it turned out extremely tasty. Thank you❤

Mam, can u please explain why this batter puffs up like roti and not behave like rice urad dal dosa?
Two reasons 1> this batter is all flour 2> it contains no dal/beans like dosas
It's really inviting and a power packed meal. Here , I would like to ask you if you could come up with similar ideas using SATTU MAAVU. A SINCERE REQUEST

Hello, brilliant recipe and family loved it. Been following you and your recipes for quite a while. You have made living healthy not bad at all. Just one question I did try making the liquid Jowar paratha but did not puff as shown, any reason why?
Thanks for the recipe 🙂
After wheat paratha with liquid dough I was eagerly waiting for jowar paratha with liquid dough 😀
I use the same method to make my kids pancakes. No veggies in the batter ofcourse. 2 eggs, a little salt and baking soda and milk instead of water. It tastes awesome with honey
Amazing recipe👍 can we use non stick pan
