What do you mean by "foveated"? I use AMD Adrenaline but try to keep most everything turned off and let open xr do most the work. There is little informaiton I have found that helps you improve VR performance with AMD cards. I'm actually going to switch to Nividia sometime this year, depending on how the 2023 DCS engine upgrades go.
I’m using standalone DCS and have never been able to get it to show up in openxr toolkit any help would be great. I followed multiple installation guides and still won’t show up
The steps should be the same. You are assigning which version of DCS you have in the Updater software and it runs that one. Oculus and the toolkit should run on either one. I’ll do some experiments on stand alone and follow up.
@@bladed101 in open composite right go to configure, right click on DCS and select "Always Use OpenComposite". It will still run through the Oculus runtime, but you should see the OpenXR toolkit menu option screen pop up once you log into DCS.
Hey man, I think I’ve managed to get openxr to recognize my quest 2 (I set all the correct run times) how were you changing the settings shown around 10:15? I can’t get any sort of overlay to appear all else seems to be working though👍
Do I need the Oculus software to use Open XR. My oculus software is broken, and im currently trying to fix it by contacting meta. I want to play dcs with the q2 but it doesnt work right now. Can I use steam vr instead?
The software can be reinstalled from meta website, all though they try to hide it. Right side of the meta website. That software is only needed to link your headset to your pc, either air or link cable. OpenXr is it’s own API and it won’t need either steamVR or Oculus software after that.
Depending on which version you install, the options could change. I had different options than the older video I watched. That said, I hear their have been some changes, so some options may auto set now or redundant.

I was having the same problem with the menus and openxr not working. Thought I had found the solution until you didn’t describe at all how you fixed it
If you are using the updater software, select the Steam VR api and that should fix it. Granted, the updates newer version of the updater may have changed some things, so I still use the older version.
@@OgKamoGaming When I opened the first time and every time after, the openxr app. Nothing is in the list at the bottom. And the menus do not work. Is that what you were experiencing
Not 100% sure. I switched from steam and it was pretty easy and I kept all my purchases. I’ll download the Steam version again and try it, but it should work. I played American Trucker without using steamVR.
The Q2, unfortunately, has a screen door effect by default. You can reduce it by increasing the bitrate. I have mine set to 500 in the Oculus Tray Tool. When I was trying to use steam VR and Oculus native, it was unplayably blurry. Everything is sharp within 100m of the aircraft. Long-distance targets will still be blurry, but that depends on the limits of your system and what settings you can push.
here I am stuck in 2024 and cant get that menu to show up. both steamvr and oculus vr are set to windows mixed reality openxr. DCS world steam edition. Quest3
Not sure how the quest 3 with Mix Reality works. We don’t need Open Compositor anymore. Selecting openxr runtime in the Oculus app, automatically recognizes the Openxr toolkit when it’s open for q2 users now.
okay so im 8 seconds in to that video.
Sir, whatever YOU say i believe you.
You are the GIGACHAD.
Really excited to give this a shot tonight and see if i can squeeze out some extra performance. Appreciate the tutorial brother
Awesome! Let me know how it goes.
How did it go
did you by any chance test if you can get hand tracking to work with a quest2?
Just a quick question, how did you get Fixed foveated rendering on an AMD Gpu? Nice Video, not using the quest 2 but always hunting for the frames.
