- Ever wondered how to add automatic subtitles or auto caption in Final Cut Pro? Well, here it is! In under 2 minutes!!
🎬 How to Auto Caption in Final Cut Pro - Quick Guide:
1. Export Your Video from Final Cut Pro: Export the video you want to caption and save it as "for captioning" on your desktop.
2. Use CapCut for Captioning: Open CapCut (a free app available for Mac and PC). Import your video from Final Cut Pro into CapCut.
3. Auto-Generate Captions: In CapCut, navigate to "Text", "Auto Captions". Choose your language and press "Create" to automatically generate captions.
4. Edit Captions: Zoom into your timeline to view captions. To edit, go to "Captions" and make necessary changes, including adding emojis or customizing text.
5. Disable Video Layer: Back in CapCut, select your video and press 'V' to disable the video layer, leaving only the captions.
6. Export Captions: Go to "File", "Export". Keep the settings as is or match them to your Final Cut Pro version. Remember, don't choose caption exporting as it's a paid feature.
7. Import Captions Back to Final Cut Pro: Export the captions to your desktop. Then, drag them back onto your video in Final Cut Pro.
8. Remove Black Background: Use the "Luma Keyer" effect in Final Cut Pro to remove the black background from your captions.
9. Fine-Tuning: Adjust the opacity of your captions and consider adding a drop shadow for better visibility.

This is AMAZING! I’ve been so frustrated that final cut doesn’t have even the basic captioning of an Instagram sticker. This is really helpful! Thank you so much!
RIGHT!?! They have to add this feature at some point. I totally agree!!! I’m so glad it was helpful!!
😅Thank you for providing the workaround. I hope Apple includes auto-captions as a built-in option in Final Cut Pro!
Riiiiight!!! Where’s the update fcp?!?!

It's crazy that this isn't native to Final Cut yet. Apple just built it and shipped it then that's that! Thanks for sharing !

I’m so glad!! I hope it does!
Thank you
Glad it helped!
thank you so much mam
I’m glad it helped!!
Thank you for this. Once I add the captions in CapCut why do I take it back to Final Cut Pro? Also once I closed the project in FCP I couldn't figure out how to open it again so I just went with the one from CapCut and I didn't see the black lines on the edge.
You're right, you don't have to!! Just export it in Capcut if it's your last step!!!
Great video! I think you'd get a much cleaner result by applying the blend mode "Add" to the captions video in Final Cut. Using luma key will give you rough edges most times.
Yes! I tried that at first but for me “add” worked best with white text and I was using so many colors in my captions it was being wonky. But this is also a great tip!!👏🏼
@@EllevonEditing Oww, you are right! it does mess up any of the coloring :(
I hope someday Capcut allows for exporting Alpha channel so we can just export this. I would happily pay for it cause it saves so much time!
hello! thank you for the help~ the only difficulty when i did this was that the captions became blurry (not crisp and clear in FCP like they were in CapCut). Is there any way I can fix this? thank you so much!
You know, I also found if you disable the timeline in CapCut, place a green screen layer under the text captions, and export that, you can import it into Final Cut in a cleaner way by instead of using the luma keyer, use the green screen keyer and that works better!!
I love your desktop screen omg
Thank you I made it on midjourney lolll!!
life saver. 🔥video
Awesome!!🥰 Thank you!
Great!
Yay I’m glad you enjoyed!!
Cap cut is a big game changer
It truly is!!!
very useful tip! thank you so much for the video! +1 more sub!!
I’m so glad!! Thank you!!
The title should include CapCut as this is where the captioning takes place and not in FCP.
good point!!
Thanks a loooootttttttt ;)
No problem!! 🎬
I may have missed something but could skip adding back to Final Cut and just add the captions in CapCut and then export from there?
Yes! haha you could also do that if it’s your last step :)
the second heard export your video its no longer in fnal cut pro but its a cool tip. final cut pro are just behind natively unfortunately.
agreed they need to catch up 😭
Only issue I’m having is my Final Cut Pro video is no longer 4k is it any way to change that
To change your resolution? Yep you can modify your project’s resolution by selecting your project and then on the upper right hand inspector clicking the purple “modify” button!
love that this is 2 minutes
Yes!!!
Great fast and on point. What I would like to know: How to add captions in a different language. As most of my videos are in German, I would like add captions in englisch for youtube.
good question! I suppose one way is to download the captions in german from CapCut, run them through Google Translate and add them to your video manually in the settings…
I looked into it further and you can check “bilingual captions” when you’re choosing the language!
Hi, we live in India and we don't have access to CapCut. Can you suggest an alternative that will help us generate auto caption for our reels? Thanks in advance! ◡̈
Yes! Have you tried Veed.io? Veed.io does captions too!❤️
This is what I do. But I only export the audio from FCP so it's faster.
Nice!! That’s a good idea!!
How do I move just one block of text if I want to reposition it? When I move one it moves every single caption
Just make sure to unselect “Apply to All” when editing individual captions!
❤😍
Format not really nice after import capcut caption into fcp !!! But why not use capcut after all ?
Agreed, it’s honestly a great app I recommend to most peeps, on mobile especially!
SMART
So glad it helped you!!
Isn't quality lost when rendering the video twice?
Nope! There won't be quality loss in your original video with that workflow. Exporting the video from FCPX to CapCut for captions, then importing only the caption layer back to FCPX, doesn't affect the original video's quality. You're simply adding a caption layer on top!
Thanks and that was fast 😂
Haha yes I can’t stand long tutorials 🤪
@EllevonEditing hahaha 😆
@EllevonEditing I have another question if I may regarding your video. Instead of pressing V to just import the captions alone can you just export the whole video with the captions too by chance? Thanks
@DerrickCByron You can just export in CapCut if the edit only needed captions as a finishing touch! Going back to fcp is only if you have to edit more.
@@EllevonEditing thanks appreciate the response
why does my V key does not work (to disable the clip)??
You can also right click it & press “deactivate clip”!
@@EllevonEditing tried that as wel, but there’s no such option i could find to deactivate.but i think its because i am using the web version..i’ll try the desktop app version to check if its there..
Except that Capcut use terms are for personal use only...
You can still use this effect for personal projects!
Better than having to pay for something from the Apple App Store.
Trueeeeee
@@EllevonEditingI almost did, but making automatic captions should honestly be free no matter your skillset.
Thank you for this!
Why don’t we just export it out of CapCut instead of exporting it and import it back into Final Cut Pro and then export it again. That’s a lot of exporting and importing
Yes, you can totally do that too if captions are your last step!!😂
@@EllevonEditing man too many steps, I can't believe am paying for final cut pro iPad version monthly and no auto caption. Though their editing design layout is in my opinion the easiest and most fluid.
Apple will you hurry up with the updates already,!
Capcut is exceptional for a free platform however the fluidity and sometimes it lacks the ease of use in comparison to Final cut (once again my opinion)
@@Ez8Ken It is really crazy that fcp has no auto caption! Final Cut IS the most intuitive overall. They just need AI! 😭
Your intro is twice as loud as your voiceover - need to calibrate your loudness so the viewers don't have to adjust their volume during your video
I’ve been playing around with sound lately so thanks for the feedback!!
Too little, too late. Apple is not focused on the needs of professional editors.
I wish they had this feature too😫 They need more AI infused effects pronto.
That's the reason why Davinci is gaining a lot of market!
Honestly true!!
