9 and 10's themes: reflections upon deep sorrow, loss, and regret. They contain themes representing both a Doctor who had to bear the guilt of destroying his entire race, and then a Doctor who lost those dear to him, one by one, until he was forced to die in utter solitude and loneliness. 11's theme: COME AT ME BRO
I love how each theme fits the character of each Doctor. 9's theme is melancholy and haunting, speaking of beauty and hopeless regret. 10's is hopeful, speaking of hope and new happiness; yet tainted by sorrow and never dying regret. 11's is wild and free, a child exploring and laughing; a man so drunk on despair and rage he has become insane, yet it never loses that dark undertone of regret for his past.
The best descriptions for each of their themes, great job, I love how they’re all unique to each doctor and how each fits them perfectly, based off of their Doctor and the personality of the Doctor
The 9th doctor is the doctor who mourns. the 10th doctor is the doctor who regrets. 11th Doctor is the doctor who learned how to let go. the 12th Doctor is the one who learned from his mistakes. At least that's how I saw each of these guys.
TheSingingBUn if we go by your idea then 13 is the one who is starting to live again, but I’m hoping because of her happy go lucky nature it will eventually come crashing down and we see a doctor who makes a new set of mistakes
@@joshhaddock6772 it has never once been stated to be impossible. In fact I'm fairly sure they addressed it in the past as being definitely possible in time lords.
Eccleston... you may not be the most popular, but you'll always be my doctor. I know you don't want to return and obviously it'd be hard to without a crossover, but please... just once more, be fantastic again.
Yep agreed! Re watched his season a few months back, a good however many years older....and i think he did a great job! Really appreciate his just-out-the-time-war vibe.
Tennant is my favourite (yes, I know... how original), but I have to say, Eccleston did an absoutely FANTASTIC job. Definately appreciate his series a lot more now than I did at first.
I don't understand how you people pick favorites... It's so hard! I love the 9th's vibe, the 10th's goofy side, 11th's peculiar actions, and the 12th's flat out alien existence. How do you all choose a favorite?
I feel even more sorry for 9 now. He had believed that he had killed his own kind. Men, women and children and also destroyed his home. He would never remember what the 13 Doctors did on the final day of the Time War when they saved Gallifrey. He suffered through the guilt and grief which he should have never had. I pity his incarnation the most.
The 12th Doctor is even more rude. If you haven't watched his ones yet then be prepared for some human bashing. I'm a die-hard Whovian so it doesn't really matter for me
ironhidewatson Charizarzar true. But 10 and 11 also felt the guilt. And I don't think 9 should be felt sorry for. I think 10 is the most pitiful. 10 only lived for 3 years. His regeneration also crashed the tardis. He was alone when he regenerated. And his regeneration was caused by a friend. Also, the love of his life is in a parallel universe. His best friend doesn't remember him and the great times they had. So I'd say 10's life is much more depressing than 9
have anyone ever thought about the fact that 10 is all alone when he regenerates? I don't know about the older series, but it seems like he's been the only one to be alone during the process...
The Second Doctor was alone when he regenerated into the Third Doctor, The Seventh Doctor was alone and in the morgue when he regenerated into the Eighth Doctor, and finally the War Doctor was also alone when he regenerated into the Ninth.
GhostPirate6 The Second Doctor was with the Time Lords when he regenerated. The Seventh Doctor was unconscious (or technically dead) and unaware when he regenerated.
sallyatticum Still by the time he became the Third Doctor, he was alone and in his Tardis. As for the Seventh, that still counts as him regenerating alone. No one else was there.
GhostPirate6 My assumption was the fellow was talking about when the regeneration started.... and the loneliness that he must have felt at the time, as s/he used the phrase "all alone".
sallyatticum In that context I saw it as literal and not as a sort of relationship thing. They also brought up the classic series so I went with the regular meaning.
There's something about 9's theme that's so sad and tragic... 10's theme starts out just as sad but slowly starts to build up into something grand and epic... Then comes 11's theme which starts out just really cool, but has this playfulness to it also. It's both fun and adventurous.
One reason why Nine is my favorite is because he left when he did. While there was absolutely more he could've done, he did a fantastic portrayal of the character while he was there. Nine was simple, witty, and real, and ultimately he died in a way that was good for him: saving someone else. I wish like hell Eccleston would come back and do more as Nine, but I'm grateful for the scenes we have, cause they were portrayed with care, and warmth. Nine was absolutely fantastic.
It seems like as the themes progressed, the themes got filled with more hope and motivation leading up from the melancholy Bad Wolf to the higher energy I Am The Doctor. Hearing all three of these pieces side-by-side really emphasizes the transition. It's as if the themes are reflecting the nature of the Doctor, if that makes any sense whatsoever.
the doctor 1 grumpy pessimist 2 hopeful man 3 forced rescuer 4 intelligent explorer 5 runner away 6 selfsh grupy 7 brave slightly more serious 8 runs and watches the time war the war doctor watches as the war goes on and the horde of travesties is unleashed 9 the man who regrets and forgets 10 the man who regrets 11 the man who forgets and 12 the man who tries to grow up and stop others from making his mistakes and 13 to be seen
I don't have a favorite Doctor as of yet, but I do think 9 was the most important Doctor in the new series. I mean, *he's* the one who introduced us to Rose Tyler, Jack Harkness and other people who were EXTREMELY important in 10's life.
Each theme suits each Doctor perfectly. 9th - The sole survivor, ridden with guilt 10th - Timelord victorious, and the one who regrets 11th - A mad man with a box ;D
***** But the problem is... if you have never watched any of the classic Doctor Who, 9 doesn't seem too complex. Which kinda sucks for people who only watched the revived Doctor Who, where the only spec of complexity given to 9 was in "The Day of the Doctor" But the tenth doctor stole 9's lightning. XD
Majoogle Plays True, there are good and bad episodes from every writer. But I do think that Moffat isn't as good as some people say he is. There are other people who could lead it in a better direction.
I love the themes of each of the Doctor's, it conveys the kind of character they are so well. 9's Theme and 10's Theme were quite slow, quiet and sombre, which fits their character, 11's was more fast, happy and loud, which fits his character.
the thing with the doctor is that (and this goes all the way back to the first) when he regenerated, the new doctor is criticised and the old doctor is missed. then, at the end of his run, he regenerates again. the new doctor is criticised the old doctor is missed. and so on, and so on and so on. But according to many people, there's only been one doctor who immediately captured hearts from his first scene in the TARDIS with Rose: Ten
I "hated" ten for his first few episodes. I was super butt hurt that Eccleston had to go and some random guy comes in like he owns the place. Of course I got even more butt hurt when he regenerated himself, and to this day I don't think eleven lives up to the previous two.
MrKungFuMaster123 I liked him because of his insults, and arrogance. But also because he is the doctor who just came back from The Last great Time war, and its obvious he had PTSD. They showed hints of him having it and parts of him dealing with it, but I wish they did a entire episode focusing on him dealing with his PTSD, the season finale did it a bit though. I still liked him because he is just the most tragic of the modern doctors.
I know this isn't the most popular opinion but music wise 9th theme is my favourite. It is very soothing in such an eerie way for a doctor that was born into warfare. 10th is second because of how it starts out with that soothing vocal melody but with a sad twist and then grows and buildsto be more epic. 11th is good but too much actiony sound to it. It didn't really capture any of the tragic parts of the doctor's character. Just my opinion of course.
You also have to take the situational use of the songs into account - Nine's and Ten's Themes mostly played when something dramatic happened, Eleven's mostly when he was boasting or explaining how he just outwitted someone.
I totally agree with you. Ninth's theme is the best piece of music in the whole series if I'm honest. Just a shame that it's so short compared to the others' :/
skyla lavalley Really? Do some rewatching. There were about as many darker or more depressing moments as with any other new series Doctor. He just tended to go quiet, make small, condemning remarks and/or downplay the issues instead of the open raging of his immediate predecessors.
I've always felt that 9 10 and 11's carry on. First is the soothing way to calm a crying child...the second is the sad experience and pain and the third is the release of joy and fun.
6:25 oh how I love this part of 11's theme. It is just the fairytale part of his run incarnate and it makes me so childishly giddy every time I hear it. Whenever I listen to that part of 11's theme I really do feel like I was thrown back in time into my childhood.
I love how the 11th can make the stupidest mistakes , yet somehow have a sense of charisma and heroism. Its the fact he can act like a total idiot , and still come off as a deep emotional hero is why hes my favorite doctor.
All three of these guys did such a great job with the character. I'd really like to see what David Tennant's era would have been like if it'd had the consistent quality of writing of Matt Smith's era. I think David Tennant was my fav doctor, but I enjoyed the Smith era much more. I just really liked the Smith-era modern day fantasy fairy tales better than the Tennant-era space-age light sci-fi.
I'm still not sure what to think of the new tone of the show (and the new Tardis). The production values feel very Americanized to me (as an American). It's very different.
But Matt Smith had the worst written episodes of them all, such as power of three, for me Tennant was the best because of his ability to convey such powerful emotions, when he was regenerating i was literally in tears. I guess maybe because i thought Tennant was so good I felt Smith could never live up to it and to me he didn't.
The 10th Doctor's theme really captures the watcher's attention. There's drama, action, and sadness in that song that will connect to you or even bring back old memories.
Its brilliant how well the songs fit together: it kind of portrays everything the Doctor was going through. First, all the losses in the Time War, then his slow regaining of hope while still facing so much sadness and finally his return to being a mad man in a box, taking people on adventures in time and space.
I could not stop humming "I am the Doctor" after seeing Eleven's first episode. So freaking catchy! I mean, the Doctor's theme/Bad Wolf are great songs, but I prefer the adventurous tone of "I am the Doctor" over the melancholy tone of the other two.
for those of you saying the 11th doctor was funny: he acted immature and joked around the most because he was trying to hide that he was viscous. yes, he protected people on his life. but there was an episode, "The Doctor's Daughter", where the humans on a planet were fighting a week-old war and had created a "clone" of the 10th doctor. at the end after Jenny, his daughter, was shot and killed, he took a gun and pointed it at the head of her killer. and about a minute later he threw the gun and said "I never would." 9 wouldn't have done that either. but 11 would have. 11 has lost so many people and there are so many people that want him and the people he loves dead that he's fucking pissed. he's decided basically that not killing people gets him nowhere. he's prepared to let people die and he's prepared to get revenge. he loves his companions a bit too much and gets too attached to them. 9 was just scared. he was depressed after the Time War and was going through extreme trauma. he was confused and wasn't sure what to do, and after he found Rose, he became more of himself and was happy and excited, making sure no one died and if they did, he got upset about it. that same thing goes for 10, but 10 was a lot more relaxed because the trauma and depression from the War Doctor and the Time War was wearing off a bit. 9 is a puppy in a leather jacket, 10 is a big fluffy dog in a suit. 11 is a murderer in a fez.
Man, the part where 10's theme segued into 11's was like music from a movie trailer: first the sad, dramatic bit, but then comes the cool build-up of I Am The Doctor's first notes, and I go: "Hell yeah, baby!"
god, why is it such a tonal shift from 9 and 10 to 11? its bad. 9 has this "i am hiding something i did, its my burden to bare..." thing going on 10 has "i am alone, but i have to help everyone no matter how hard it is or what the cost." an 11... " lets have fun! oh it dosen't matter i can beat any body, look at my funny hat.." its ok if you want to be light hearted but god don't think that everything will be fine forever
its like that because the 9th doctor is the closest one to the war doctor and 10th still regrets that he destroyed gallifrey. 11th is the doctor who moved on and stopped thinking about the death of gallifrey
Taylor Thortsen He's got to move on eventually. Remember, 11 is 3 incarnations removed from the Doctor that actually killed them all (or so he thought). You can't mourn forever.
I think 11's theme is more memorable for two reasons-- 9 and 10 are actually fairly similar in tune as well as tone-- a little sad, thoughtful, mournful. Don't get me wrong, I love them-- but 11's is different. It's upbeat, couragous-- victorious. You hear its theme and you know something amazing is about to happen; the day is saved.
I totally agree , you hear 11th theme and it just gives you joy and excitement e.g Hope. Y hear 11th theme and you just want to turn to the Daleks or any other villain and tell them "Basically, RUN!" - 11th theme is so my favorite, I hope I'll like 12's as much. I think the themes perfectly portray each Doctor too . 9th is morning in solitude and dread-ful, 10th is still mournful but he no longer feels he's in solitude. and 11th , 11th is just new and alien and gives off hope and joy and excitement. He has his dark, pensive moments , and ooh his rage, as 9th and 11th does - but in the end , he leaves you with excitement. Can't wait for 12th's theme.
You can think of the themes in kind of the same vein as 'Bad Wolf' Rose explained things to the War Doctor. Eleven forgets, Ten regrets. I think Nine is the one who grieves. He has just lost his home planet and all his people. His theme is very haunting and the lone voice makes him more isolated. Ten's theme is the same melody, but building upon it. More voices, more of a crescendo. He is the one still remembering the past and trying so desperately to put it behind him. Eleven is, to me, the adventurous Doctor. Don't get me wrong. All the Doctors love a good adventure. But Eleven just seems to go looking for trouble more than the others. He's more playful. He lives longer than the other two and so, he forgets. His theme reflects that.
Totally agree because I've always thought their themes told you a little about each Doctor's personality. 9 is the one who quietly mourns the Time Lords and that's why his sounded very mournful. 10 is the one who is still mournful and will always mourn the loss of his race, althoug he's able to forget about it sometimes and go on these epic adventures that help him cover his loss but in the end all that loss hits him big. 11 is the one that's always jumpy, energetic and so full of life. He's able to have all the fun in the world but he's still able to get serious and kick some arse.
logedyftw I knew nine and ten had themes :/ because every time something important or sad happens during their series, it's always there in the background.
I haven't been up to date with this Doctor Who season. I've only watched episodes 1-3. As far as I know the song you're referring to was only played during that episode. That hardly makes it the theme for 12.
Davis Octavian Costelloe Exactly. A lot of people jumped on the first song that sounded like a theme before the season can run its course. If any one could help me identify 12's theme that's be great,
9ths doctors is my absolute favorite. The eeriness but happiness near the end PERFECTLY captures dw for me. 10's is also great especially near the end. 11's is just chaotic
Nine and Ten's themes are slow and rather melancholy to reflect their regrets on what happened during the Time War and the losses they suffered during and afterwards. Eleven's theme is manic and adventurous which shows that in a way he has come to terms with it.
I feel there’s a constant pressure from a lot of whovians about who is the “best” doctor. I don’t think there is an answer to who is the best because each doctor has their own quirks and different pros and cons. 9 was fresh off the timewar and the darkest doctor yet, he was harsh and cold but never cruel. He may have lost his way with the daleks but who could blame him? He was probably the best way to revive the show and give it that flare. He had a good arc from cold hearted badass to compassionate, less cold badass. He probably had the most or close to the most character development out of 9, 10 and 11. 10 is considered by many as the best doctor or the most popular doctor. Now it’s not up to me and I’ll admit he is one of my favourites but I don’t think he was as good as we remember. While I agree he’s probably the most human and compassionate out off all doctors in New Who, I think that spoils the alienness of him. He is a good doctor, he takes his companions to exciting places, he saves people and civilisations, he stops the monsters and bad guys, he does everything you’d expect from the doctor. He without doubt has some of best episodes in all of doctor who, with End of Time part 1 and 2 being my favourite 2 part episodes ever. But I think the problem with Tennant is that he is so popular that if you have a different opinion like, “I prefer Matt Smith because he’s funnier” the vast majority of people will look down on you like you’re some kind of scum. I really like 10, he’s definitely in my top three doctors but I don’t know if he is my number 1. 11 is arguably the most split doctor off new who. A lot of people like him and the messages imbedded in his speeches and childish attitude while others feel he was a bit too goofy and a bad follow up from the more serious and sometimes dark Tennant. When I watched Smith I was in that turning point of child to adult so his constant excitement and moving around really appealed to my young self while his dark moments and his “time lord” moments excited my adult mind. He probably is my favourite because I’ve got a slight nostalgia factor but I think out of 9, 10 and 11 he was probably the best. He had good monologues and speeches, he had some funny moments that I’m sure everyone laughed at and he has a lot of pure emotional moments. I cried when Tennant left, I cried when Donna lost her memory, but I have never cried as hard as I did when Amy and Rory “died”. I did see it coming but it was so pure that I could help myself. I didn’t have any moments like that with 9 or 10, maybe end of time part 2, but I did see more tear jerking moments with Smith. I think his childish attitude and overall happier episodes helped with this as when it did happen, it came out of nowhere. Which Tennant you kind of expected a sad moment or a sudden death because that was a theme in his run as the doctor. As for who I think the “best” is, I really couldn’t decide. Eccleston had some, dare I say, fantastic episodes. Tennant had s lot of emotional moments, I didn’t cry at them all but I acknowledge that they’re there. And Smith had humour plus a bit of occasional emotion. I think my order for these 3 is Smith, Tennant, Eccleston. It’s all very close because I like them for different reasons but that’s kind of what makes this show so special. Each doctor has his own unique thing that distinguishes them from everyone else. Feel free to attack me for not putting 10 as my favourite but honestly, I don’t feel he’s as good as people say he is.
The 9th Doctor's theme music sticks with me the most. It describes who he truly is inside. Broken and damaged, with a few sparks of life still left in him. It's haunting and hopeful at the same time. Beautiful.
9: Is the more mystrius kind. 10: Have the saddest, can almost feel the sorrow through it. 11: Got the more epic feel to it, with a pinch of action. But personally, I think David Tennant was the best doctor. Don't get me wrong, Matt Smith did an awesome job as an actor, but I just didn't like his personality. Felt like they made The Doctor to ridiculous and childish. Read that it was because they wanted to attract a younger audience, so can respect that choice in some way. And I didn't like the "Amy & Rory" story as much either. 2.5 seasons was way to much with them. Maybe 1 or 1.5 would have been enough. I got so tired of Amy getting into trouble in every episode and surviving without a single scratch. I wish they skipped season 6, it was the worst one of them all. Only interesting was the story behind River Song. Although, I loved the second half of Season 7. Especially the 50th anniversary episode.
***** You're the first one I've ever seen to say that... I'm not knocking you to each his own, but I like all of the Doctors, but yes, not every episode will be perfect just as every song on an album will be a single. I liked most of 9, more of 10, and it took a while for 11 to grow on me, but he was great too... Why do you think 10's stories sucked? Stolen Earth? The End of Time?(I realize I may have picked the only ones you actually liked haha)
Sir Twinkie Ah yes, that was a weird one... I can't think of one I didn't really like, even the one where he's a human although slightly annoying is kinda cool
It's really interesting how this theme changes during the time. The 9th, being melancholic and sad, the 10th, more mystical and just a little bit thoughtful, and the 11th, feeling like you want to explore the world, go out and somewhat lighthearted with just a little tone of seriousness every now and than.
These are just so... Him. There's really no other way to describe it. They portray him so well in all levels, it's fantastic! Kudos to everyone involved! I love this way more than I probably should.
I love all the doctors, from Hartnel to Capaldi, all of them undeniebly played the part of the doctor very well, however, I like Matts a little more than the rest!
9th's theme: really shows the dark and sorrow side of the doctor, more specifically: the war and the daleks. a sort of nostalgia feeling that he cannot get over, which tears apart at his heart and soul. 10th's theme: expands upon the 9th's theme. as it gets more dramatic, it shows that he is someone who chooses peace as the first option, but will never give up and will use all force necessary for the greater good. then at 3:15 it really emphasizes the fact that he is nothing but a lonely person that helps others in order to fill the void inside him. 11's theme: expands upon the 10th's theme. it shows that he has fully accepted the fact that he was in a war. because of the fact that he is a god, he now fears nothing. no matter how hard everyone tries and no matter how much damage is caused, the doctor will always win and he will never give up.
Ninth doctor theme is quite and represents sadness. Tenth doctor theme is emotional just like he is. It's strong and sad. Because he is the best. Eleventh doctor theme is lively and epic.
9 and 10's themes: reflections upon deep sorrow, loss, and regret. They contain themes representing both a Doctor who had to bear the guilt of destroying his entire race, and then a Doctor who lost those dear to him, one by one, until he was forced to die in utter solitude and loneliness.

It's not just the 9th that has to go through the guilt. War, 10 and 11 also went through it.
Muhd Haiqal War wouldn't have, he knew they were safe right up until he changed into 9. Seeing as 9 had just showed up he felt the guilt most of all.

GhostPirate6 My assumption was the fellow was talking about when the regeneration started.... and the loneliness that he must have felt at the time, as s/he used the phrase "all alone".

In that context I saw it as literal and not as a sort of relationship thing. They also brought up the classic series so I went with the regular meaning.
10: Man who regrets.
11: Man who forgets.
9: Man who regrets and forgets. (based on the 50th anniversary)
Donna also forgot
***** did you just...
***** GET OUT!!
***** LOL OMFG
No one mentions that horrible day
There's something about 9's theme that's so sad and tragic...
10's theme starts out just as sad but slowly starts to build up into something grand and epic...
Then comes 11's theme which starts out just really cool, but has this playfulness to it also. It's both fun and adventurous.
perfectly matching each doctor. Bad things kept happening to 9, 10 started out slow then completely blew your mind, and 11 just had fun with it.
9&10s themes give me chills...11s theme is just like "Hello, i'm the doctor, so basically...run.
Why won't people ever listen!?
One reason why Nine is my favorite is because he left when he did. While there was absolutely more he could've done, he did a fantastic portrayal of the character while he was there. Nine was simple, witty, and real, and ultimately he died in a way that was good for him: saving someone else. I wish like hell Eccleston would come back and do more as Nine, but I'm grateful for the scenes we have, cause they were portrayed with care, and warmth.
Nine was absolutely fantastic.
it starts from sadness to time to kick some ass
Then to "I just figured something out in my head and now time for my theme of going "I am the Doctor and I won."
I know right man.
Time heals all wounds, just some slower than others
Excellent blending of the tunes at 3:36-3:41!
Cicily S Ikr! Like why is nobody saying anything about it?
Yes ! So beautiful !
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO LOVES THE NINTH?!
No I love Nine
I don't have a favorite Doctor as of yet, but I do think 9 was the most important Doctor in the new series. I mean, *he's* the one who introduced us to Rose Tyler, Jack Harkness and other people who were EXTREMELY important in 10's life.
You Are Not Alone
Emmett Krantz I hope I am not the only one who knows that reference
Pandorium Bills Nope, you aren't
Each theme suits each Doctor perfectly.
9th - The sole survivor, ridden with guilt
10th - Timelord victorious, and the one who regrets
11th - A mad man with a box ;D
The best Description of each Theme :D
Every time I here the ninth doctor, I cry wishing he had more than one season. And i still wonder why he's nobody's favourite.
The tenth's still the best tho.
I loved 9th. My absolute fav!
XD
Omfg everyone the 9th doctor only has one season because he left its his fault he is not anyone's favourite okay
Connor Hart Well he is still some peoples favorites :P
9:The serious jokester
10:The epic savior
11:The awkward adventurer
Or the socially awkward one
Ciaran Ritchie Great one for 11th XD
If Eleven were a human kid, he'd act like he was on a constant sugar high. XD
@@cicilys6944 Even if he never touched the stuff xD

yep
I actually think that a song like "This is Gallifrey" is more like it, the epicness, but also all the anger, and the doctor's bad sides...
Bring back Russel T. Davies.
Sigh...

Majoogle Plays True, there are good and bad episodes from every writer. But I do think that Moffat isn't as good as some people say he is. There are other people who could lead it in a better direction.

It's back on there. I just finished season 2 today.

Maybe not for you, but it is for me.
Oli Graham What country?
I love David but when he said I don't want to go I broke down
10 saying "I don't want to go" was a subtle hint to his return as the 14th Doctor
Even though I am a hardcore tenth fan, I must admit that eleventh had the best theme song
same
same here
Same
Kevin Sakovich tenth have the doomsday theme
11th had the long song i liek the 9th version of the badwolf song more but they where all good
11ths is the best, That tune has become like a secondary theme tune for series as a whole now, and almost as well known!
11 likes! 11-ception (DONT SCREW IT UP YA TROLLS)
no, 10th's the best. the most epic one
Well said
It's true
So true.
Damn right, that's my only problem with Doctor who. Well that, and the fact that my favourite left after just one season...
I "hated" ten for his first few episodes. I was super butt hurt that Eccleston had to go and some random guy comes in like he owns the place. Of course I got even more butt hurt when he regenerated himself, and to this day I don't think eleven lives up to the previous two.
My favourite doctor was the 9th one, i dont know why he just was. And i miss him
The reason I liked him was I think because he was arrogant and would insult someone first
I like him because he was the most dedicted to rose, he was the most carefull doctor..
I still liked him because he is just the most tragic of the modern doctors.
the ninth doctor i my favorite too, its sad that he only got one season, i miss him, i thought he was a great doctor
yeah...
Oh my god, easily the best mesh of all 3 tunes, the transitions between tunes are flawless, you deserve all the likes you get
I love 11th theme! I always feel like I'm going to an amazing adventure when I hear it!
***** ikr ikr ikr ikr ikr ikr ikr ikr ikr
Just a shame that it's so short compared to the others' :/
well 11th didnt really have alot of sad times and he was young and so ....... alive
skyla lavalley Really?

Christopher Eccleson introduced me to the doctor, David Tennant made me laugh and cry the most, and Matt Smith made me wonder the most
cool video! I like the 11th Doctor the best!
The ninth theme: Sorrow of a gentle creature
The tenth theme: Triumph over loss
The eleventh theme: basically, run/Look at me, I'm a target
I love how the 11th can make the stupidest mistakes , yet somehow have a sense of charisma and heroism. Its the fact he can act like a total idiot , and still come off as a deep emotional hero is why hes my favorite doctor.
matt smith's version got the best theme. it gets me pumped.
His theme is my fave 👌🏽😍

All three of these guys did such a great job with the character. I'd really like to see what David Tennant's era would have been like if it'd had the consistent quality of writing of Matt Smith's era. I think David Tennant was my fav doctor, but I enjoyed the Smith era much more. I just really liked the Smith-era modern day fantasy fairy tales better than the Tennant-era space-age light sci-fi.
I'm still not sure what to think of the new tone of the show (and the new Tardis). The production values feel very Americanized to me (as an American). It's very different.
shut up thats confusing
Susan Coleman Are you related to Jenna-Louise?!
Sarah wow what a jackass
But Matt Smith had the worst written episodes of them all, such as power of three, for me Tennant was the best because of his ability to convey such powerful emotions, when he was regenerating i was literally in tears. I guess maybe because i thought Tennant was so good I felt Smith could never live up to it and to me he didn't.
"Everybody lives for once! Just this once, everybody lives!" 0:45 I read it on his lips.

So true my bro so true XD
We'll i like the 12 them song
It’s been nearly 10 years since this video was released, I really hope someone will make an updated version one day! :)
Everybody lives, Rose... Just this once.. Everybody lives!
I read his lips too...
cry evrytiem
Is it just me that associates Bad Wolf with Rose rather than the 9th doctor
Chaotic RUclips I agree
i agree
for those of you saying the 11th doctor was funny:
he acted immature and joked around the most because he was trying to hide that he was viscous.
yes, he protected people on his life.
but there was an episode, "The Doctor's Daughter", where the humans on a planet were fighting a week-old war and had created a "clone" of the 10th doctor. at the end after Jenny, his daughter, was shot and killed, he took a gun and pointed it at the head of her killer. and about a minute later he threw the gun and said "I never would." 9 wouldn't have done that either. but 11 would have.
"11 is a murderer in a fez."
Loving this.
Never forget the 9TH DOCTOR who was absolutely FANTASTIC!
I traveled to another country to watch this epic video
That RUclips.
Coulda used a VPN
Burned up a star to watch THIS..lol
11th is the doctor who moved on and stopped thinking about the death of gallifrey
what?
10: 400 years is that all it takes?
11: I moved on.
That's why there's such a shift.
he should not have, it comes across not as someone has accepted what he did, but more that he runs away from his gilt.
He saved the lords of the time. Nothing greater could happen!
I also agree with what you said it is way more up beat and 9 and 10's theme was so sad and depressing
Eleven's theme is so much more memorable than the others...
what is the meaning of this thats such a lie
disagreed.
logedyftw
I knew nine and ten had themes :/ because every time something important or sad happens during their series, it's always there in the background.
If you've been watching DW from 2005 then not really
Charizarzar Been watching since it first started reairing, Eleven's theme is still the most memorable to me.
You should update with 12th's Theme from Deep Breathe.
*deep breath
I haven't been up to date with this Doctor Who season. I've only watched episodes 1-3. As far as I know the song you're referring to was only played during that episode. That hardly makes it the theme for 12.
OddSunStudios You're correct, that song hasn't been played since that episode.
Davis Octavian Costelloe Exactly. A lot of people jumped on the first song that sounded like a theme before the season can run its course. If any one could help me identify 12's theme that's be great,
Vie seen all seasons and episodes im a doctor who freak ok😊
Tenths theme gives us that feeling of walking alone and sad, but always being the hero
9ths doctors is my absolute favorite. The eeriness but happiness near the end PERFECTLY captures dw for me. 10's is also great especially near the end. 11's is just chaotic
The difference between 9 & 10's compared to 11's tells you so much. How 11 is truly the man who forgets and 10 as the man who regrets
If I ever have children I will play this to them to put them to sleep.
me too.AHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH
Appreciate this is 9 years old but if you want 10's actual theme search "The doctor forever"
The 9th Doctor's theme music sticks with me the most. It describes who he truly is inside. Broken and damaged, with a few sparks of life still left in him. It's haunting and hopeful at the same time. Beautiful.
I miss 10th Doctor very much :(
Me to
He was…UPGRADED
Remember: The Daleks always come back.
but how
I'm not sure. The Doctor even said it himself. I don't even think he knows.

OH MY!
DUCKS?!?!? I HATE DUCKS!!! They're such P.E. teachers....(P.E. stands for pure evil btw.....)
Murray Gold you are a brilliant genius!
oh, hello there.. im the doctor,
The music would lead you to think that the 9th and 10th were the doctors blue period and the 11th is him getting back in the game
Also 11 being childish and ridiculous stems out of the Second Doctor who was more clownish
Gredran
It may be the Waters of Mars episode
Sir Twinkie Ah yes, that was a weird one... I can't think of one I didn't really like, even the one where he's a human although slightly annoying is kinda cool
Gredran ya the one were he is a human is sort of wierd, the creepiest one was the
Empty child
Thats the song I was looking for, the 9th doctors theme, thank you very much
Doctor Who - Bad wolf theme ;)
I’m not even that much of a who fan
But the transition into the 11th’s theme is so deeply embedded into my childhood I get chills from the nostalgia
It's really interesting how this theme changes during the time. The 9th, being melancholic and sad, the 10th, more mystical and just a little bit thoughtful, and the 11th, feeling like you want to explore the world, go out and somewhat lighthearted with just a little tone of seriousness every now and than.
9 is the best theme, creates mystery and emotion.
These are just so... Him. There's really no other way to describe it. They portray him so well in all levels, it's fantastic! Kudos to everyone involved! I love this way more than I probably should.
Just realized I made an unintentional 9th Doctor reference. Sorry not sorry
***** Yeah, I could've.
9th: Guilt and Sorrow
10th:Regret and Rage
11th: I AM TALKING!
I love all the themes.... but Matt Smith's theme makes me so darn happy :D
Not to be a tell tale ,but the transition between my 10th and 11th regeneration theme song gives me chills
💙 Tennant was the best Doctor ever. His regeneration was so sad, he didn't want to go.. I think about it everytime I listen to this soundtrack. 💙
My gosh! So long since I've heard the 9th Doctor's theme!
I heard it last night :) I have his theme on my mp3 player
I'd completely forgot about it before this
9th through 10th, sadness turning triumphant with Rose, then turning back into the mellow theme, but more powerful.
Eleven's my favorite, hands down.
so is mine 9 and 10 are just people saying ooo
Alyda Hallows I can get why people like it if that's their preferred music genre, but I think Eleven's is epic and exciting.
Alyda Hallows The 10th theme is an elongation of the 9th and fixates on the entity that is 10's persona. It isn't just the matter of it saying: "ooo"
Alyda Hallows But Nines theme matches his broken personallity from the time war
MrBill0327 How is his personality so much more broken in Nine's era than Ten's?
I love all the doctors, from Hartnel to Capaldi, all of them undeniebly played the part of the doctor very well, however, I like Matts a little more than the rest!
Oh this is AWESOME!!
11's theme is my fave! But they're all great!
The blend is also exactly how I remember it!
Who mouthed the words everyone lives rose just this once everyone lives when he said it. I did
I love how Ethereal 9's theme is.
