- So I'm sure most people have seen, at least on RUclips, the wonderful videos the BBC put together for things such as the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular's, or the Doctor Who Prom's.
Well; this video is an expansion on that. Taking the already existing concept of This Is Gallifrey / Vale Decem put to the already existing footage of the regeneration sequences; I have slightly recut the video and updated it to include all 13 Regenerations from Hartnell to Capaldi including the Meta-Crisis as it counted.
I have used 'Infinite Potential' for the ending because it seems to fit the best for Matt Smith to give him the most fitting send off, but also it was his Regeneration music.
All content within this video is © BBC Worldwide, BBC, and BBC Wales / BBC Cymru. No copyright intended.
This Is Gallifrey, Vale Decem, and Infinite Potential are © Murray Gold
"You were fantastic. And do you know what? So was I!"
"I don't wanna go."
"I will never forget, when the doctor was me."
...and when Capaldi ( aka Malcolm Tucker ) calls it quits, you'll be able to add "...a well... off, I fuck" to your list.
+celt67 fuckity bye!
Thomas McEleney then capaldi be like "you know I wasn't great but I had great times with this face. I was good but... och you know what fuck it bye" he then regenerates
I also wonder what the next doctors first lines will be
So far they are:
"Um hello okay i ump... new teeth that´s weird, so where was i oh yes Barcelona."
"Leg i still got legs good, arms, hans uhh fingers lot fingers, ears yes eyes too nose yes i have had worse too. Hair blimey... i am a girl! no no i´m not a girl? And i´m still not ginger.
there´s something else something i´m i´m i´m.. Crashing! ha ha uh uh ah Geronimo!!"
"ugh Kidneys i got new kidneys! i don´t like the color.
We´re probably crashing.
Don´t worry just one question Do you happen to know how to fly this thing?"
i do wonder how the next doctor´s first lines will be?
"Boobs... ? I have boobs. "
please tell me that Murray Gold has a closet full of awards somewhere. this music deserves like 10 Grammy awards per song
Indeed the worst adward in history
@@enchantedmistress06 No that's a razzie award your thinking of dude
Have you seen his name: Gold. Damn, I'd take that name over any award.
Tennant, MY Doctor *-*
Also THE Doctor
Yep !
Smith, my Doctor, but I love them all.
Nicolas Hary As far as I'm concerned they're all the same person. ^o^
I'm agree. Same memories, but the personnality of every doctor are different.
I listened to this playlist maybe a year ago. I took Latin over the course of the last year and holy shit;
Vale Decem = goodbye ten
+Macman12233 ikr. I was listening to it on my phone and realised: Wait, is the Bye? And, holy shit, that is 10.
;' ,(
+Macman12233 this song is ending, but the story will never end :,)
Farewell ten, welcome eleven!!! And what a Doctor eleven is!!! GERONIMOOOO!!!!!
You should read the full translation, dude. You're missing alot.
Literally everyone knows this
Were all different people, all through are lives, and that's ok, that's good so long as you remember all the people that you used to be.
Wow keem never knew u was a fan lol 😂😂😂😂😂
- 11th Doctor
if you added doomsday the fandom wouldn't exist everyone would have died of sadness and sorrow.
David Tennant's doctor who was the best for me
Some of Russell T's finest writing, especially in The Edge of Time part 2. Murray Gold used a dead language (Latin), to make one of the most beautiful songs of the Dr Who series. Of course using one of the best countertenors in the world (Mark Chambers) didn't hurt...
Don't forget David's gut wrenching last line before he was blasted by radiation,"Wilfred, it my honor to die for you." The look on Wilfred's face was priceless, afterwards...
Agreed 100%!
Peter Capaldi for me. His run had my most consistently favorite episodes and his Doctor was just the peak for me. Either way it’s sad when “your” Doctor leaves.
Was the best. As much as i loved matt smith, and even a lil of capaldi. Nothing will compare to david 💔
It doesn't matter how many times I've seen Ten's regeneration, I'll always tear up a bit. Or a lot, depending upon whether or not I'm in public and surrounded by non-Whovians.
THE MUSIC WAS TIMED PERFECTLY WITH THE PRECISE MOMENT ELEVEN'S HEAD JERKED BACK AND TWELVE WAS BORN
you timed 10's regeneration perfectly with the music. I don't care that you can't actually hear him say 'I don't want to go'. it still kills me.
Wonder which Doctor holds the record for most times returned to the series.
Surely it would have to be Tenant.
If so, I'm happy with that. He is my personal favourite, closely followed by Tom Baker.
I love how Vale Decem comes at the perfect moment when 10 regenerates. All them feels
What Murray Gold can do writing for an orchestra, is truly unforgettable...
"Vale Decem," literally meaning "farewell ten," was actually the song the ood sang for him while he was saying goodbye to all his before he regenerated and the crescendo at the end of the song is what was playing in the background when finally turned into Matt Smith, it's honestly the saddest song I ever heard, David's doctor was such a big part of my childhood and his send-off was the most glorious of them all.
Yeah they went all out on 10 because they thought the show would end with him
Nice to see all the regenerations in the "right" order, finally. Thank you. Also, it took some serious finagling to get Vale Decem synched up with the 10>11 regeneration so Tenant's "I don't want to go" falls in exactly the right place...Nicely done.
At 5:31, even though it's muted out, the first 2 times I've watched it, I heard David saying "I don't want to go". I really did.
I feel you
+Ionut Maris I love all the doctors, but I miss david ... that one line just plain hurts.
+Ionut Maris im pretty sure we all want him back. I mean, Matt smith is an amazing actor, dont get me wrong, but the writers for the 5th season and on were not great and we all loved David because he was with us for the longest time (meaning 2005 to now) and he had the most amazing parts, the most amazing companions, and the most emotional episodes.
the soprano neko To be fair I don't want him back. I like Capaldi more.
+Ionut Maris we all have our favorites
and thats perfectly fine if you dont
When I hear "Vale Decem" I can never unhear "I don't wanna go!".
It doesn't matter that we can't actually hear the words David Tennant said at his end... It still gets my right in those feels.
ikr
just for the heck of it... ("Vale Decem" (English Translation) "Farewell Ten")
+Arlen Armert thanks for killing me
+Armin Arlert
I don't want to go
After Sir John Hurt's passing today, this video just got a whole load more emotional ..
The most brilliant casting was John Hurt as the War Doctor. He played off David Tennant and Matt Smith brilliantly. So sad he's gone. He was brilliant.
THE WAR DOCTOR IS DEAD, WHAAAAT ?
I'm almost as sad as when I found out Leonard Nimoy died
But I didn't know John hurt died ... RIP
Wait when did he die??? NOOOO MY LIFE IS A FAILIER
"We're all different, all through our life's. And that's okay, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be."
11th Doctor
emotional, yet inspiring.
I will always remember when the doctor was me.
@@yorkgrasser but you ARE the Doctor.
*Immediately forgets all his past lives and confuses Clara the Human with Handles the Cybermen Head.*
The Doctor should have been angry when she thought about what she said at the end of what she thought was her eleventh incarnation as the Doctor. After all, she only remembered the last couple of millennia instead of the billions of years she’s been alive.
We will never forget when the Doctor was you
lydiawho ...the timelords/ladies are really arent they ....merry christmas ☆☆☆☆
did i miss something?
Ste Clarke 11th doctors farewell speech saying “I’ll always remember when the doctor was me”
“I will not forget one line of this. Not one day. I swear. I will always remember when the Doctor was me.”
Even though he’s usually the 2:nd or 3rd in people’s lists, you can’t with a straight face tell me 11 didn’t have the most sincere and bittersweet regeneration of them all.
Im 20 year old guy.Never cried before for something..never.. But when i met this series i cried like a bitch at 10th and 11th doctors regenerations.
I love how the part of Vale Decem where 10 regenerates almost lined up perfectly with the scene in this video :)
At the end for some reason I feel like you should've just cut the music and had him say "Kidneys, I've got new Kidneys!"
"Do you know how to fly this thing?"
12 is going to put a giant hole in the earth
Lachandra Holt true that.
Nope
Nothing happened
He left one in my heart
all the doctor regeneration speeches as one.
"this old body of my is wearing a bit.... no no.. but I guess it's the right thing I had to try, but the moment has come. feels different this time. (the next doctor speaks to him) I must regenerate, the master I must stop him, I must regenerate. it will hurt, but I hope the ear are a little better, but this life was fantastic and I don't want to go, but we all change in the end"..... REGENERATION 14TH HAS ARRIVED
I've only seen series one and 5-9, but the 10th Doctor's regeneration still makes me emotional. Also full body chills.
When you watch Doctor Who for the first time, you expect your first Doctor to be on the show for ever. My first Doctor was 11, and I watched him regenerate right before Capaldi started.
And it was the first time I cried in a year. The music made it even more emotional for me, because I was finally realizing that Matt Smith was gone from the show. Until Deep Breath came out 2 months later. That was the worse thing a writer could pull off on Doctor Who.
Murray Gold, you are a genius.
Apparently just seeing the clips 10 regenerating to 11 and 11 regenerating to 12 is enough to still make me cry.
How to make yourself cry: Watch this video. Look at images of David Tennant.
Fandom Fanatic I don't wanna go!
+Fandom Fanatic NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU U CANT MACK ME DO IT
+Fandom Fanatic *sniff* ITS SO SAD *sniff*
+silvyadav Lol Neither did he.. Neither did he....
+Euan Douglas *hands tissues* I feel your pain.
I have a new theory on the why the 10th was so down when he regenerated:
Perhaps he thought, somehow, that he was all out of regeneration energy. Think about it: when he regenerated into the War Doctor, that was because of a formula that helped him regenerate into someone young and different. Maybe something in that formula/because he was already dead for a bit caused him to use up more energy then usual.
Also, when 10 regenerated into 10.5, he used a full cycle up but whose to say how much energy he used on him and how much was channelled into his hand.
All this to say, by the time 10 was to regenerate, maybe in his mind he thought he'd used up all his cycles and that he wasn't going to fully regenerate or something, and that he was about to die, hence the goodbyes, crying etc.
Furthermore, the way he reacts as 11 is almost that of surprise, like hes amazed to still be here and that's why he is the way he is in this form, running around trying to find fun wherever he can; he has a second chance to live his life again. That's why, by the time he regenerates into 12, he's accepted this form as the be-all end-all for him. He got to live the life 10 didn't and could die happy.
Is this a stupid theory? Of course, but i prefer it to what actually happened: "Vanity issues".
I was enjoying your text until the word "vanity".
Why?
Makes sense, if this theory turns out to be true and correct! then (Ten)ant's regeneration may have just been cured to live another day.
My own theory is that unlike any other regeneration The Doctor was now truly alone and conscious. With every other regeneration he either couldn't react because he was out cold, or he was with (a) companion(s), and he put on a brave face. When he became the 11th, he was alone and we finally saw that he is actually terrified of regenerating. Hence "I don't want to go"
Francesco Salvia I guess that theory makes sense.
Weirdly the start of vale decem actually fits 8s regeneration
10 being alone makes it so much more sad
About time for the BBC to put on all the Doctor Who adventures! (Hartnell to present) and audio etc!
The only thing I would have changed about this video, was having "I don't want to go" be audible instead of muted.
I agree, that would be amazing. Maybe have Matt Smith's final lines be audible too, but definitely Davit Tennant's.
I'm beyond giddy that Murray Gold is returning to DW❤❤
He is an absolute genius who knows EXACTLY what to do to get us all in our feels.
Simply brilliant!
It all just disappears, doesn't it? Everything you are, gone in a moment, like breath on a mirror. Any moment now... He's a-comin'.Clara: Who's coming? The Doctor: The Doctor.Clara: You. You are the Doctor. The Doctor: Yep, and I always will be. [his hand starts glowing] But times change, and so must I. [From the Doctor's perspective, young Amelia Pond runs past him, the TARDIS walls covered with drawings of the Eleventh Doctor and his adventures] Amelia!Clara: Who's Amelia? The Doctor: The first face this face saw. We all change. When you think about it, we're all different people all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this. Not one day. I swear. I will always remember when the Doctor was me.[A vision of adult Amy walks down the stairs. They touch each other's faces]Amy: Raggedy man... Goodnight.
This music is just sublime. It’s as good as anything John Williams has ever written and worthy of a blockbuster. You can appreciate the music within the programme but to hear it on its own is something else....
Really really nice timing with some of these shots
Nice timing of merging the tracks and the clips, to have the parts in Vale Decem and Tenny's regeneration synchronized so well
David's regeneration always crushed me
1st RegenA simple change
2nd Diziness, then regenerates
3rd again, dizziness regeneration
4th Simple change
5th Looks like hes going to heaven lol
6- before 5 regenerated he looked like he was on drugs and then goes into 6
7- Weird twisty of face special effect thingy
8- looked kinda like fire
War- fire
9- significantly bigger fire
10- messes up tardis
11- destroys dalek spaceship armada fleet thing
12- WHO KNOWS
each regenerations gets worse and worse
+Legend Warren makes a new one and blows it up again.
Who knows
*Who* knows.
In the last regeneration, doctor will kill himself to save the universe and this film end
+trần công chiến This song is ending. But the story never ends
The Tenth and the Eleventh Doctors were my favourite versions of the character. Seeing them regenerate was very emotional. It made me cry.
I know that Tennant's was sad and most people will hate me for saying that I wasn't as emotional when Tennant regenerated but to me seeing Smith regenerate broke my heart. I saw so much of my goofy ridiculous personality in his version of the doctor and to me seeing him regenerate was like seeing my best friend going away and it hurt me. I bawled. I in no way hate Tennant but that's just why I had much more of a feels trip with Smith.
Why would someone hate you because of your opinion?
And I agree
+Sean Lambourne Yeah, I hated the episode, but Smith's regeneration scene broke me. When he hallucinates little Amelia... oh man. Right back to Angels Take Manhattan: "Your face was the first face these eyes ever saw. It's burned into my hearts.".
Say what you like about Amy Pond, but Amelia Pond was a spellbinding character, and her arc was incredible. Maybe I'm just a sucker for sad cute kids finally getting their wish when all hope was lost.
Tennant's end also slew me, though.
+Sean Lambourne I cried at that part T^T
+Sean Lambourne I watched that part over and over like 7,000 times T^T it's so sad and that smile right before he goes, drop dead gorgeous T^T
Beautifully paced scenes and music!
"Raggedy man, goodnight."
Huh, just noticed the Song of Akhaten theme at the end of Infinite Potential.
+Christoph Burschka
"Infinite Potential" is a modified version of "The long Song".
+Christoph Burschka Oh yeah. I subconsciously sang it in my head... huh.
A funny note, if you listen to the Lyrics of the Long Song, you notice it's telling 11 to "Rest now, my warrior," but also telling 12 to "Wake up and let the Cloak of Life cling to your bones." just a simple observation.
+Magic Man Yup
+Magic Man It's a very good detail
Excellent compilation. I loved the video shown at the Symphony (which I was lucky enough to see in Leeds with Peter Davison hosting) of the regenerations. You have done a great job here of reediting that to include all of the Doctors. And my favourite music "This is Gallifrey" too! Very well done!
Yes, very good. But perhaps if the later items had been made grayscale it would have worked a little better IMHO. But excellent as it is!
The saddest part of the 10th Doctor's Regeneration is that he died alone
People always confuse the painting for either "No More" or "Gallifrey Falls" but really... It's "Gallifrey Falls No More" because GALLIFREY STANDS FOREVER MORE!!!!
Insanity Virus EXACTLY, watch the 50th anniversary (at the end, but still watch the whole thing because it’s good.....lol)
Until season 12, but I pretend that never happened
8th regenerate because he want to be a warrior, 9th regenerate because he want sacrifice his life for his love, two my favorite doctor, by the way the video is awesome bro
I still cry when I see or think about 11 regeneration
I would love an updated version of with Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker after she Regenerates in the Centenary Special
Oh man, this was rough. But thank you. It's also beautiful.
I want Ian Mcellen as the next doctor. Do you imagine, first Magneto, then Gandalf and then The Doctor, it would be fantastic :D
+David Zarate or Benedict Cumberbatch?
TheRallyGamer I haven't seen Sherlock yet and I don't know much of that actor
well you should! benedict is very good at playing Sherlock but not as good as tennant as the doctor.
GrubySzymek how about Ian McKellen as the Doctor and IAN MCDIARMID as Rassilon
THAT'S BE SO FUCKING COOL
Imagine ... it's Gandalv vs Palpantine : EPICNESS GUARANTEED
@@Ra11y Could you imagine Benedict Cumberbatch as the Valeyard (an evil future incarnation of the Doctor from the Sixth Doctor era)? That would be scary...
Perfect timing with tens regeneration
This is a poem I have written to show how I felt during 9,10, and 11's regenerations
I have come to know the doctor of new
But now he is leaving me for now
And now my love is leaving me
A new man must take his place
Even if doesn't want to go
So now it is time for one last bow
My best friend throw thick and thin
Is leaving me now the new man will come
And when he is here my old best friend will be gone
So who will this man be my friend or my foo
+Caroline Lamb through and foe.
5:13 You sychronised the song and the scene almost perfectly. Congratulations.
I don't know if it's my love of Doctor Who, Murray Gold's fantastic composition, or a combination of the two, but all this always gets me right in the feels..... I love it!
Wow. Just wow. 😍😍
It's nice to see this updated & that the War Doctor is now included. :)
Last Words from all the Doctors. (From what I gathered) (Correct me if any of these are wrong!)
"Here we go. The long way around." - First Doctor (Via Twice Upon A Time)
"You can't do this to me! No no no no no!" - Second Doctor
"Now don't cry. While there's life there's.." (Dies before he can finish.) - Third Doctor
"It's the end, but the moment has been prepared for.." - Fourth Doctor
"Feels different this time.." - Fifth Doctor
"Yes, I will regenerate. Our future is in safe hands." - Sixth Doctor (Via Big Finish)
"Timing malfunction!" - Seventh Doctor (DW Movie)
"Physician heal thy self." - Eighth Doctor
"I hope the ears are a bit less conspicuous this time." - War Doctor
"Before I go, I just want to tell you, you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And you know what? So was I!" - Ninth Doctor
"I don't wanna go." - Tenth Doctor
"I will always remember when the doctor was me." - Eleventh Doctor
"Doctor, I let you go." - Twelfth Doctor
"Right then. Doctor whoever I'm about to be. Tag. You're it." - Thirteenth Doctor
This was FANTASTIC! I do wish we could regenerate instead of decay into dust and in such a short time when you think of the grand scheme of time. I think Dr. Who regeneration theme was one of the most imaginative ways to continue a series I have ever seen. Long live Dr. Who.
oh my feels
Time for a remake? Whit David Bradley and Peter Capaldi regenerations?
David tennant was my doctor BUT! then came along matt smith who i loved! and i think did an amazing job as the doctor and by the time his regeneration took place he over my doctor spot! BUT then came along peter capaldi and by far my favourite doctor! Every doctor is amazing! and they are all truly great actors!
z Please promise to add the Capaldi's regeneration when it will happen 😱 Cause this video is beautiful 💕
so amazing music
As beautiful as this montage is, I don't feel that Vale Decem fit for the War Doctor's regeneration. Vale Decem is a sad good-bye to Ten, highlighting the tragedy of his loss(whether you like Ten or not, that was the point). The War Doctor's regeneration was one of triumph, since it symbolized the ending of his wartime struggles, of the man he had to be for the good of the universe. That's just my opinion, anyway.
valid point
The Framemaster The Ninth, however, was filled with BOTTOMLESS REGRET over what he thought he'd done. That's why the 9th 10th and 11th spent half a dozen seasons working through various stages of PTSD, over the course of centuries :p
Anachronistic Laser Beams 9 didn't remember what War did. War probably still remembered what had really happened whilst regenerating, and 9 just woke up with regrets.
The Framemaster
I realize that, I'm just saying it makes a bit more sense in the context of the video with that in mind.
agreed. I think that ten's leave was dramatic because everyone loved him and didn't want him to go. I loved his doctor so much!
its the end but the moment has always been prepared for. New people come old people go, but they are never lost.
I love this video its awesome
And it might seem like a long time away now, but one day, we'll be saying goodbye to 12 aswell. ;_;
+Francesco Salvia
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
+Francesco Salvia I'll be back when he does. See you in a few years.
+Mister Chief
Hopefully, in a few years.
+Francesco Salvia And Doctor Who will end with a new Doctor. (That Doctor better get some Audio Adventures.
My favourite theme from doctor who
:( i'm so sad David and Matt are gone
great job to who made this video on how well they timed the "I don't wanna go" with Vale Decem.
My heart sank when I saw David, I thought the audio would have been synced to use the episode audio instead of running the song over it, my heart was ready to explode at reliving his regeneration again
is it a coincidence that the Vale Decem is synchronized with the tenth rigeneration in this video
Doesn't cry until 10 regenerates, does that make me a bad person?
I started when Pertwee regenerated.
Caleb Andrew thank you one of my fav doctors
I will never not cry when rewatching 11's final moments...I love all of the different versions of the Doctor, and have grown rather fond of Capaldi, but Matt will always be "my" Doctor.
Yeah, same. I love all the doctors, and i have grown to love capaldi just the same, but whoever the doctor is, what he's like and however many there are, 11 will always be my doctor.
Now just add The Shephards Boy and 12ths Regeneration
I wanna cry
This is so damn good!
Doctor Who music is SO FANTASTIC! Its right up there with Harry Potter and LOTR music
Im here to brake the David Tennant crying lot and cry over Matt Smith!!! :'( The bowtie will always be cool!!!!
+Liam Horobin 10 and 11 are my doctors so tears everywhere T_T
From the very beginning the beat is FOUR quick drum beats
I'd rather say "Vale Novem." Goodbye Nine. Anyone with me? (I'm not trying to disrespect the original song; it's very beautiful and powerful, but I believe the Tenth's regeneration was waaaay too dramatic.)
KIDNEYS!!!!!
I just thought not until Christopher Eccleston we had the Daleks be the villain in a Regeneration story as the first doctor had Cybermen, 2nd doctor was time lords, 3rd doctor was spiders the 4th doctor was the master the 5th was Sharaz Jek 6th doctor was the Rani , 7 8 and war doctors don’t really have one
Rose went away,
so the doctor is blue.
Ask Donna, "Where's the doctor?"
She'll say "Doctor Who?"
Martha Jones left to earn a Ph.D.
Because with the doctor she could never be.
Sarah Jane lived on after proper amends,
while K-9 was a good dog to the bitter end.
Captain Jack said farewell but to the doctor unknown,
his face he would see in the one of Boe's.
The Ponds had their fun with the Raggedy Man,
but even their time came to a saddening end.
So ask me again,
Why is the TARDIS blue?
There's a real sad man inside,
with two hearts torn in two.
I'd rather say "Vale Novem." Goodbye Nine. Anyone with me? (I'm not trying to disrespect the original song; it's very beautiful and powerful, but I believe the Tenth's regeneration was waaaay too dramatic.)
One dislike... Looks like the Master escaped the time lock
you mean the master and the rani
How did you predict the future, Missy is the Master
ood Sigma: you song is ending, but the story never ends!
I remember the words to the matt smith one, :(
Murray Gold's music is great he's a genius.
i feel like the 11th doctor tried to be the 10th doctor when regenerating, a bit like a dick waving competition except with explosions
from 5:13 to 6:30 was the most saddest
we're all stories in then end, just make it a good one, eh?
2,000 years old 14 regenerations and still not a ginger lol
Grey Beltre 13 regenerations.......
The last 2 are the same. It even says so in "The Time Of The Doctor".
Hartnell to Troughtan to Pertwee to Baker to Davison to Baker to McCoy to McGann to Hurt to Eccleston to Tennant to Tennant to Smith to Capaldi. 13 regenerations.
Vale john hurt R.I.P
You should do an updated version to include 12 13 and 14 (when he regenerates)
Murry is the fucking best composer of modern times. He makes the best show ever even better.
Murray Gold is a God among composers best Doctor Who composer for me
