- As you may be able to establish from this, I am a bit of a Doctor Who nerd. I actually made this about a year ago, but never got round to making it into a video until now. Here you go, I'm pretty impressed with myself! :D

Here's what I think they both symbolize. At the beginning of Ten's theme, it starts out as perhaps sad, serene, etc. That symbolizes a hard recovery from a traumatizing event: The Time War. As Ten's theme progresses, it becomes slightly upbeat and intense and as soon as it comes close to the end, it begins to symbolize a successful recovery and a wonderful victory against the sadness and regret. Eleven's theme is very different. Throughout the whole theme, it symbolizes one thing: Hope. When that theme begins to play with one of his big moments, you can see in his eyes that he has a plan. He's been so full of hope that it'll work and save people's lives, especially his companion's. If you lot agree with his, spread the word. It could unlock many of the people's potential and abilities.
I mostly agree with you, but Eleven is not just about hope, but also _magic_. The tenth doctor is somewhat more cold and scientific that nine or eleven: he held himself to an impossibly high standard, and his excitement always had a intellectual character, as if the emotional part of everything he did was slightly forced. On the other hand, Eleven's story was largely about belief, hope, magic and faith. He valued cleverness, but he almost couldn't care less about science.

conner bagwill I thought the whole "man who forgets" thing in DooD was interesting, because so many of 11's stories are about not forgetting. The climax of series 5 is when both Rory and the Doctor are brought back to life from nonexistence simply because Amy _remembers_ them, and there were several other 11th-doctor stories about the power of memory.

I understand why people still rave on about Tennant, he was brilliant! But people need to stop saying how Smith is a bad actor and a bad Doctor compared to him. He really isn't; Matt had the misfortune of being the Doctor right after David, and because people idolised David so much they saw Matt's entrance and an intrusion. Regeneration has always been part of the show, Matt is brilliant and by far one of the best to ever play the Doctor.
I'm sad that people are saying they can't wait for Matt to leave. Matt's Doctor was very 'in-your-face' at first and that's why so many people were put off him. But believe me, those who stuck around actually witnessed how great he was, he really grew on you. Whilst I can't wait for Peter Capaldi to be the Doctor, I'm still going to be extremely sad when Matt leaves. All these people who have a grudge against him just because he came after David need to stop. Let go of David, its been five years almost. Many people feel the same way about Matt, now that he is at his end. Please don't swamp his moment with the unnecessary nostalgia of David, a Doctor who had him time.

Matt isn't a bad actor is he?! He can't be compared to David Tennant's Doctor, because they're supposed to be different in the first place. I think that anyone who judges a doctor based on how another one was is not a true Whovian.

Call it obvious, but I just realized how perfect the themes fit to their doctors. While the eleventh' theme is more simplistic in itself and faster, slightly more positive and even easy to recognize, the tenth' is slower, sadder, and deeper, just like his character is often much more melancholic, while the eleventh doctor is almost child-like in his fascination for every little thing and does look 'back' rather seldom.

I am an author and if I ever have a movie made of my books I wish this could be the theme. I have literally spent my entire day listening to this over and over again from 10 in the mourning to midnight. I think that Matt and David were both so amazing and that the reason that they are so different was intentional as a way to show how each regeneration covers the last faults in a way. David was battlescarred and full of sadness yet brought such joy. He was serious and brilliant. Matt was less serious and kind of childish and less scarred and more go lucky and saw joy in everything and was able to capture the bigger picture in a more emotional way than tennant but he got so distracted. They were made to contradict each other and yet flourish through it. I think this song shows just how such different people can use thier opposites to make perfection. Simply fantastic, brilliant and cool
Matt's Doctor is also interesting because he did such a great job of being so young and yet also the oldest of the Doctors. If you watch some of the episodes again, you'll notice that he would drop his funny mask when it was time to be serious.
I see what you did there at the end :D I think BBC does the best themes forgot Merlin's one even belonged to the show when I watched it again.
You should write your book into a script and send it to BBC Commission Writing Room. That way you'll get a TV series and an awesome theme XD

It is kind of weird. I would agree with you, but the thing is... David Tennant was one of the most energetic and funny Doctor's ever, yet he was also very serous and somber. You combine that with his eccentric and cheeky personality, his strong moral values, his general badassery, and his complete selflessness and you know why he is my favorite Doctor ever.
The outfits also say a lot about the Doctors. Tennant's trench coat makes him look powerful, strong, and serous, his suit makes him look sharp and gentlemanly yet it also makes him look geeky and a little bit eccentric.
Mat Smith's bowtie, slacks, and coat captures his silly, carefree, and adventurous personality well. However I prefer his second outfit, the one he got for season 7 part 2. It made him look strong, a bit somber, and more badass while still keeping the adventurous and eccentric feel to it.

The 2 themes combined really describe the man from Gallifrey.
I like how both of these themes reflect the Doctors' personalities. 10's is mysterious and magical but carries a twinge of regret and sadness. 11's is goofy and lively without the regret and sadness; like he's forgotten.

Yeah, except the rare moments he showed his dark side- ‘a good man goes to war’ and ‘the rings of arkaten’ included.
Matt's performance grounded the show into it's current viewer time line. He took on a universal role and brought with him a universal greatness. Baker, Tennant, and Smith. Have a marathon and love them all for the adventures they gave.

I had a cancer diagnosis almost 4 years ago that turned my life upside down. Listening to the 10th and 11th Doctors' themes strangely made me feel hopeful as I was working through what needed to be done and how I was going to do it.
YEAH! Matt is my favorite! Totally thought I would hate him because Tennant is amazing, but Matt rocked the doctor. In many ways, he saved the show for me. :D

My school is doing a Comic Con thing where people can dress as characters from any form of Media and win gift cards for the local theater
I came dressed as Matt Smith since my hair was proper for it
I got the clothes at the Thrift Shop and got his Sonic online
The next day we continued it with 20 Super Hero movies being played in 20 classes, such as Avengers, Hulk, Supernatural, Thor, Captain America, Doctor Who, etc
Since I was dressed as Smith I decided to go to Doctor Who (I originally wanted to go to SPN) I was the main Whovian there so I got to pick episodes
Since it was only Period 1 and 2 (Out of 4 so there was no time to binge) I picked S1 EP1, Dooms Day and S5 E1
It was so we can capture the first 3 new doctors
Dooms Day made everyone cry
I was really proud of myself so I went to lunch tap dancing to I am The Doctor and some dick stepped on my heel (On purpose) and tore the bottom off my Smith Dress Shoes
I didn't noticed at first and I was rather upset, so I sat down to eat my lunch and turned this on to calm me down, I must say it totally worked! :)

It does. The 'First' doctor is actually the second. Though the very first doctor is not called a doctor because he had done things that the doctor regrets. Thats why he acts like he doesn't exist. but he still is one of his incarnations.
This true first doctor is played by johhny hurt in the 50th anniversary episode.
Also David Tennant regenerates one time but he doesn't want to change so he uses his old dna to keep the same body though it was also a regeneration.

I feel in the beginig of Tennant's, it is mournful, and sad, but as it goes on, it becomes more.. happy.
And in Smith's, there's just that one part that always makes me so... excited.

If there's one episode that makes me cry it's Doomsday. New Earth has also been known to bring me to tears. Another one is the Waters of Mars - Captain Brooke's scene with the Dalek.
But I've watched them so many times now that, and as a massive Whovian saying this, I'm just kinda like meh now. Capaldi, hurry up and bring me some new episodes!
***** Doomsday was heart breaking, the sound of drums kills me every time, and Donna's last episode ''the end of time'' makes me want to go punch the writers so hard for that pain, i really didn't like how the Pond's left the show and how the eleventh' doctor excluded Clara when the TARDIS showed him Amy, but to admit it, Matt Smith had an extraordinary ability and brought beautiful things to doctor who, his awkwardness was his element, and i'm going to miss him soo very much. God this show leaves us in confusion doesn't it XD i'm supposed to be studying math not analyzing Doctor Who XD

I love the combination of the two themes. It captures the transition perfectly.
I actually think that 10th's theme is more like "Mad man with a box" and "I am the doctor" being "All those strange, strange creatures. First one being slow and beautiful and the next meant for action and heroic moments.

Hello everyone! As this video approaches 100,000 views - something I never thought would happen - I feel somewhat obliged to give something back to the people who have watched it.
I've decided to make a vlog to explain everything, but basically I've got back the software I used to make this one, and I've already made another! It's just a matter of time until I can acquire Sony Vegas again and begin editing the video and upload.

This is brilliant! I can not believe how well they flow and blend into each other to make you get pumped up! It's amazing! I kept having to rewind and see when it switched over to the other Doctor's theme, cause I couldn't tell! Honestly, both themes are excellent!! :) (although...for a favorite Doc i'd have to choose 10!) :)
This is quite possibly one of the most amazing things I've come across all week. My German homework just became mind-blowingly fantastic, and was completed in record time.
Both of these are great, and despite slightly favoring the 10th Doctor, they did an absolute glorious job on the 11th Doctor's song.

I like Matt and David both, but I'll always love David more because I preferred the show to be more serious. I could SEE the joy and sorrow of all the past Doctors with David. Matt would always get so close to that... and then blow it with something like "MY LEG FELL ASLEEP!"
Come on now, Matt also has those moments too. For example rings of Ahaten speech. But I will admit that 11th tries to hide all that more often.

Yeah, I LOVED that speech too! One of the highlight of Matt Smith's run, no doubt. What I didn't like? About two minutes before, he was BARKING LIKE A DOG to talk to that alien. I mean... really?
Oh, well. I also think that the series got a little bit more boring with Matt. David was my first Doctor and his episodes seemed more clear, funny and action packed. I also think that he's 2nd styliest doctor after Tom Baker. I just love that scarf

It's not Matt that was boring. It was the writing. You'll notice that the episodes not written by Moffat are at least a little more well rounded. I think the "timey Wimey" stuff just got boring and the writing is still screaming it.
Also, I like that the pocket watch he has is chained up to his jacket. It's a nice touch.

I thought the writing for S5 was okay, S6 got REALLY repetitive, and S7 was a mix of really good (Town Called Mercy) and absolutely horrible (Crimson Horror). There's TOO MUCH timey wimey these days if you ask me. And Moffat spends too much time building things that are over too quickly.

i love how each theme song tells you a lot about each individual doctor.
I totally lack the technical skills to do this, so maybe if someone on here can pull this off: Do a mash up of "I am the Doctor" and "All the strange, strange creatures". They should go marvelously well together and make for a really great tribute to 10 and 11.
Yeah, there are a few I want to do, also with the song UNIT too.
But the problem is, I did this with Mixcraft 5, about two years ago now, and there are two problems. Firstly, I don't remember how I did it, and secondly I no longer have Mixcraft.
I just found the rendered file on an old hard drive one day, had a listen and decided I would do what I meant to do when I first made it - which was put it on RUclips. Because of the success of this video, I have been looking into getting more audio production software. Stay subscribed if you like, and you'll know if I've done another mashup :D

The nostalgia I get from hearing this from when Doctor Who actually used to be good IMO (before Capaldi) is real. Man, life goes by so fast, so enjoy it while you can, and make the most of it.

David Tennant could go from hilariously funny to downright sad and very scary. I don't see Matt Smith do that... Capaldi is the best amalgam of the fourth and the tenth Doctor, so, yeah, Peter, stay awhile and help us get over the tenth and forget eleven.

I find 11s theme to be LEAGUES better than 10s. Sure 10s is nice and grand and what not but its so angsty and depressing. Thats not who the doctor is. The doctor is a man who looks danger right in the face, smiles and asks 'is that all?'.
i find that tennants doctor was far too wrapped up in his survivors guilt to be faithful to who the doctor is. Where as matt was that deceptive doctor who looks the fool... until theres an army in front of him and he shows his true colours. i think river song said it best "Iv seen whole armies, turn and run away, at just then mention of his name"
Thats who the doctor is, he isn't angsty and depressing, not that he cant be, all characters have those moments but 10 seemed to flip between those moments and overly cruel acts. If you ask me, HE should have been the valeyard

Capaldi looks like a vengeful doctor, as if he had the choice to free the timelords or leave them where they are he seems like he would leave them and for a future doctor to save them
The Doctor I think he's thankful for the thing that happened that people may not have watched yet.. so he probably will come back at some point to bring them back.
It's not Tennant's Doctor's fault for his angsty storylines. You put 11 in any of his storylines, you'd think he'd be angsty too. If 11 almost NEVER had a happy ending in his stories, he wouldn't be all happy and silly. You take away Amy in Season 6 against his and her will (at least she made the decision to go), lets see how he'd react.
Ten was a beautiful Doctor, one I like better -- just a tad bit better, because I think he was more heroic -- than Eleven.
He just never had a break and that was the writing's fault.

soo you like him more? whats your point? everyone has there fav doctor, I personally think Tennants episodes were far more entertaining and I think he was a better doctor. no one could have done a better job than Matt as a follow up though, they had to change things up and he did his own thing well, and the two of them tomorrow night will be funny as hell to watch!

Personally I like Peter Capaldi, He is probably the funniest doctor To Me.
Capaldi is something else. I can't wait till his new series releases! Imo, he is amazing in his own little way. Don't get the hate towards him.

Nice music, not yours, but nice, though don't see exactly what makes this video so different from other soundtrack videos on this here RUclips. You cut and placed the music so that it would transit fluently from the one theme to the other, as far as I can see... perhas I'm not giving you enough credit, but I feel like any idiot with a good ear and Windows Movie Maker can do that... I thought you were going to have one theme that was mix between the two and have a two-Doctor theme of sorts, that's why I clicked on the video... could you do something like that? That's something that would earn you my like.
