Zero Point not to downplay those skills but thats not the whole picture, that's not real life, thats your post apocalyptic fantasy. In real life people work together most of the time. Think of what it takes to lead other men right
The ability to be brave. If I think about the things I regret in my life. the only two things that come up when I was a coward. Didn’t ask that girl out, didn’t step in the help kid getting bullied. I have had a chance to redeem myself on both counts but I’ll never forget.
I am a Eagle Scout and through scouting it's showed me how to do all of those things. I agree with everything but I would also have to add standing for your beliefs even if you're the only one because a many who doesn't stand up for what he believes in will fall for anything
We live in an era where women are becoming more masculine and men more feminine. Polarity is a wonderful thing. I love being in a presence of a feminine woman. It doesn't mean that she can't change her own tire but if two people take on the masculine role in a relationship, one of them is not needed.
Brian: I'd say that we as men need to understand violence, and your post comes close to it. "....men admit when they are wrong and apologise if they do" - This implies we know Right and Wrong as concrete, objective ideas. I personally get those from Scripture as a Christian. When it comes to the use of force and therefore violence, this must be our guide. Let me know what you think.
Richard P I agree violence might be required to protect one's family in certain occasions but only as a last resort. Men need not be afraid of violence though and this effeminate generation seems to teach men to fear the wild untamed side of masculinity. But i do think that side must be guided by moral values and virtues. But i do this this side of masculinity is caged now more than ever before in history.
Gender roles were for the 1950s, though yes a stable relationship will most likely be one the leader and provider and one the caregiver or the follower, gender roles don't have any effect on a bad era
As I was taught growing up and still believe is what kind of man you are is shown by how you treat others . If treat others bad , you are not much of a man .
@@LiftOffLife I think being a man can have slightly different meanings in different cultures. But his comment is an affirmation that this video is universally well-defined.

Thanks John Corcoran. That means a ton coming from you! I've learned a lot about networking and relationships from you and The Smart Business Revolution!
1. Relationship with the Universe, Creation, The Supreme Being (which ever term you prefer) is the only one that counts, unless one was foolish enough to bring children into this world 2. Intellect. Learn as much as you can about as many things as you can. 3. Leadership if you are lucky enough to have intelligent people around you. 4. Manly Skills. Gardening, carpentry, plumbing, house wiring, home repairs, auto maintenance, problem-solving. Do as much as you can without needing to hire contractors and handy-men. 5. Money. Income should be greater than expenditures. If you can't pay cash for something, you can't afford it. Pay off debts as soon as possible. Learn to do without. No debit cards. Use credit cards sparingly, and only for major purchases of what you NEED, not what you want, avoid the quick cash loan sharks. 6. Physical Fitness. I neglected this for the past 60 years. I've now decided to build as much muscle as possible, though difficult as it is. I lost 30 lbs in the past year. Physical strength increases brain power 7. Self-Mastery. You become the product of your thoughts. You create your own reality. 8. Style & Fashion. I'm retired. So, I set my own fashion standards.
agreed! just want to add: dressing well is being respectful to others with their attention. It means you care enough to make them feel good or at ease or to earn their trust.
I just got here, thanks for the video. I think the most important thing that makes us man was left out: Purpose. That for me is number one, the rest should adapt around it. Cheers from Ecuador
Great Job Ryan. I met someone the other day who said that they had no ambition in life. I thought he was kidding, but he wasn't. I think all of the traits listed are well articulated and important. I miss the days when "being a man" was associated with mental fortitude, high pain tolerance, doing hard things without appreciation, taking care of their family, keeping their word, and respecting women along with everything else you have mentioned. There is nothing wrong with a little pride in one's gender, frankly I would like to see a lot more of it. Carry on, I think I am going to go watch a John Wayne movie tonight just thinking about all this manliness.
I'm taking note from your videos. I want to get fit to help my 50 y/o father with the manly skills he taught me. Also, leadership is a hard thing to learn, especially when you rise as a leader between a bunch of passive people that are just waiting to take advantage of those who are stronger enough to take the first step. Latinos here want to learn to be a real man, in order to survive in our ever-poor shithole countries. Greetings from Argentina!
I think self mastery and style covers keeping a good clean home and taking care of your belongings and self But I think this is the most helpful thing I have ever watched on RUclips. Thank you.

Sir I watched this video with great interest and found it very informative. I would add one other skill set to your group. That is that every man should know and understand and practice military tactics. This could be added in to the physical fitness regimen for a dual accomplishment. I spent 7 years in the military as a field soldier... A grunt. And the tactical and strategic thinking lessons I learned have stayed with me all my life and I use them every day. Specifically I am speaking of skills that include reading the geography for potential threats; watching how an opponent moves, as this tells me how they are thinking in conflict situations; leadership that begins with the concept of leading from the front and taking care of your people first; another thing I learned in combat is how to Marshall and conserve your strength over time. Long battles take lots of energy and you don't want to run out before the battle is over. This has a lot of direct application to relationships, especially those that might be difficult and long lasting; and then there is the development of a "step back look" which is being able to be aware of what is going on immediately in front of you and to also to be able to sense the greater picture so as not to be surprised by a flanking movement so to speak. Also I would add that every man should work on developing flexibility in our responses. This entails getting out of the habit of responding to situations in pre-determined ways. We need to be flexible in thoughts, words and actions. We need to divest ourselves of that ego state that demands that we win at all costs and develop one that is less self-centric and is more nurturing and open. Being a man is easy. Being a good man is hard and dangerous and it is entirely worth the effort. I feel that masculinity is under attack and our boys, adolescents and young men are being crippled by a system designed to reduce us as people, as human beings and that a great campaign (a semi successful one) to make us more feminine in our thoughts, words and actions is being waged against us. And while there is nothing wrong with the feminine, indeed, as good men we should always respect and honor the feminine, we must also know it for what it is and how it works. And we must stay out of the trap of feminine logic that argues that we should strive to be safe and comfortable. As men we are the sheep dogs who protect our families, communities and states from the wolves out there. We cannot give up the protector role for the couch and a video game. We have to stay fit, mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually and as we age, we need to take an active role in passing these traits and qualities on to the men who are coming up behind us. Thus it has been for humans from the dawn if time and, I believe, thus it should proceed into the misty future. Men are the line between the success and failure of our societies. Thank you.
Torally and utterly agree with you. The one mistake men do is let their ego over ride their logic of thought. I see it time and time again. Sometimes toxic friends can be a major bad influence. Strike them out of your life for they'll drag you down if you let them. Great advice though.
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours and I want to say: great job on this video man! It’s sharp, to the point and I think the points you’ve talked about definitely are important for being a man. I especially liked the recap on the end. Great video, I am going to subscribe.
Interesting list. Not one mention of any sort of creative outlet...nothing in terms of music, art, cooking or gardening...Other than that, the rest is pretty spot on.
I touch every point a bit but I call myself as a normal young man .....I am still learning and I am thankful for this mind-opening Video Thanks Mate💪🏻 Our society needs more man like you 💪🏻✌🏻
Marcus Warren They are all attributes that create a great man, but this video more so discusses the skill sets and not the traits. What you said is still very true.
Thanks for sharing this. As I was watching this, two things came to my mind: 1. Men need to learn to acknowledge other men who are striving to better themselves and stop hating. I'm disgusted when men talk trash about another man just because they don't "like" him. You can't dislike a person you don't know. Respect the hustle and go get yours. 2. Money is the most important goal to strive for because with more money we have more time, which means we can not only learn all of these skills but also be of better use to our loved ones and the world around us.
I just subscribed to your channel.. I'm 27 years old and though I have some of these down.. there are others that I really need to work on. So I will be watching this video often and doing my best to incorporate these into my life.
Great list and I'm happy to say I meet most and I am actively working on meeting the others. I would add that this list should be skills very person should know. Nothing here is really specific to men; women should also strive to meet all 8 of these.
I think something important that wasn’t said is the fact that we shouldn’t do these things to better ourselves so that we can have status or just to be superior, we need to do these things with love and from a standpoint of being strong enough to support our family and loved ones, our focus needs to be bettering us to better others using love as motivation.
"Man of God" usually doesn't mean much these days. One thinks of sexual degenerates on the one hand and the New Testament's commands to "turn the other cheek" and to be "gentle" (such commands have the capacity to turn a man into an effeminate little lamb). But just this phrase - "Man of God" - Wow. That really SHOULD mean something. I think of a kind of stoic resolve (perhaps the stoic resolve of a Stoic?) to become courageous, virtuous, to strive to love truth and to fight for the Good above all else, and a dozen other things could be named.
Casper Jack Yeah go ahead! Keep mocking the word of God. Keep flushing the parachute down the toilet that has the capacity to save your life, while your plane slowly looses altitude above an endless sea.
If your faith works for you then that's great, but don't belittle others for not believing in the same things you do. There are many gods, many religions, many life philosophies that don't require a "god" for guidance. At the end of the day they all say the same thing. Don't be a dick. It's a simple thing, to just be respectful in life. Doesn't take some supernatural entity or religious coda. Just, as each decision point occurs, think about it and choose the option that's neither destructive or harmful to yourself or others. Be respectful of others and of your own self. Everything flows outward from that. It's not effeminate, it's not being a "lamb". It's simply not being a dick.
I totally agree with your list. I think everything on your list goes for everyone; not just men. I'm not a man, but most of what your list are things I have been working on as well. Great job with the video.
Its a video directed towards man so he talks to mans but if you think you can use some of his advice feel free to do so. Its just like those channels women have were they talk about how to develop friendship, succeed in life etc most of those things anyone can apply, but its tough in a language and environment directed to women. ;) Also some of the things he said can only be applied to man: like the duty to protect the family which is the equivalent of women having more skills for nursing babies than man.
Before watching this I had been getting way behind on my checkbook and was becoming more and more afraid of facing the problem and grinding through it. I am now getting it done.
I believe that defensive skills should be added to the list. Every man has the responsibility to protect himself and those he loves, and needs the skills to fulfill that responsibility when called upon to do so.
@ If a Christian person is really living their life for JESUS, then JESUS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT person in their life. They should live their life in a way that is PLEASING TO JESUS. They should striving to project "Good Fruit." ( See fruits of the spirit. Galatians Chapter 5).
If men and women are different then they have different ways to develop success and improve their lives... I am convinced that there are many similarities but also many differences between men and women.
Kind of falls within #7. Self mastery is adopting a philosophy that strives toward greatness, be virtuous, learning how to control your thoughts, thinking before acting, etc. In fact, I would argue this is the most important of all the points in the video.
Great job on the list. Completely spot on. I just found your channel yesterday through Real Men Real Style and I love it. I'm having a great time watching your current videos and I look forward to many more in the future. Thanks for all you do.
The Tools and Handyman stuff is what got me. I realized I know more about housekeeping and home making than I know about changing oil in a car... Interesting.
I agree with this video except for the first rule that you deem makes you a man. It truly makes me look at you skeptically! Every time I've ever had a man explain to me that no man ever got anywhere without having a team it's usually that guy that exploits his team rather than help build them up like they built him up.
Not a bad list but here are some that were missed..not in any particular order: 1) learn to cook some basic healthy meals 2) how to make a bed 3) how to iron/mend clothes 4) how to treat a partner with respect 5) reading books 6) how to be/stay organized 7) how to be humble
What a great video - I had to pause mid-vid and get my dad's old tools from the basement and then he and I fixed the doorhandle to my door that's been loose for like 2 years, in just 20 minutes! (I also agree heavily on working out leading to improvements all over life.)
I can't now agree with you more, my life has changed so much after consistently working out more and it feels like all the other aspects you mentioned improved too!
Style and fashion is a distraction from being a man. It takes up too much time, money and energy. Focusing on that will rob you from focusing on your other manly skills. I get the idea of being presentable. My Neibor’s kid has on all the newest close, droopy pants, baggy shirts and crooked hats. And he is the biggest looser with no job.
Doniyel Temiz I agree with you to a point but in no way completely true. I have be working manual labor jobs sense I have been 14, am 27 now. when not working and ever when working I keep myself looking presentable. Not defending that kid you were talking about at all, could care less about him. Myself and people like me more then anything. My friend does asbestos work, dirty job and after hours you would never tell. Can be extra work but not distracting. Doesn't take much. Second nature to me. I do everything a man needs to do plus more while looking clean as shit. I've worked next to guys that look homeless and still are not shit when it comes to work. No reason both cant be done. Nothing wrong with keeping up with your appearance, everyone should. Shows you care about yourself and your not some depressed workaholic that could care less how he looks.
George Jackemeyer i know it is a joke, but just to be clear, i live in my own house, ive been working on it for months, and even worse its a flood zone, so... No basements here at all... Still with all that in mind, my mom has more of this skills than me, my brother or my father... Its just a fact...
gingercore69 then start working at them, man. Choose the one you think to work the most to go first. It's usually money I think. At least it was for me. I don't know for you could be leadership or fitness, whatever just choose one and start now so you can start adding the other ones but don't waste time. Don't think too much about your parents, they are who they are and they did what they did. Now this is *your* story so who cares if you didn't have the perfect paternal figure or whatever that's no excuse for not being a proper man. And if you think your mom has a lot of these manly virtues and your dad has none stop thinking about how fucked up that is or any of that bad shit and maybe then pay more attention to your mom and see what you can learn if she happens to have some of the things you want in you. And be strong, man. Take action and go do the things you're supposed to do and be fucking great at them. I know you can, man.
well, from the time i first did this comment to right now, ive developed some of this, but i also found out i developed them when i stopped caring about them... weird, but it how it worked for me...
gingercore69 that's great, man. Maybe the thing was that you were thinking too much in them instead of actually acting them. Once you start acting them, even a little bit, your brain notices that this is something you can actually get done and you start worrying less and less about it as you keep implementing them more and more. At least that's been my experience. But I'm really glad to hear that, man. Carry on.

The ability to be brave. If I think about the things I regret in my life. the only two things that come up when I was a coward. Didn’t ask that girl out, didn’t step in the help kid getting bullied.
I have had a chance to redeem myself on both counts but I’ll never forget.
Save you 10 minutes:
Relationships (with friends, family, god, etc)
Intellect (education, reasoning and logic, academics, humbling and abolishing of self-bias)
Leadership
Manly Skills (tools, sports, crafting, practical and resourceful stuff)
Money and Financing Skills
Physical Fitness
Self Mastery (mental discipline)
Style and Fashion

i cant believe how good this channel is
Outstanding video. I'm happy that I found this channel.
+David Arbelaez I agree!
Richard P
I agree violence might be required to protect one's family in certain occasions but only as a last resort. Men need not be afraid of violence though and this effeminate generation seems to teach men to fear the wild untamed side of masculinity. But i do think that side must be guided by moral values and virtues. But i do this this side of masculinity is caged now more than ever before in history.
Order of Man I just ordered your book today, but it's out of stock. When will Amazon have more copies?
Gender roles were for the 1950s, though yes a stable relationship will most likely be one the leader and provider and one the caregiver or the follower, gender roles don't have any effect on a bad era
As I was taught growing up and still believe is what kind of man you are is shown by how you treat others . If treat others bad , you are not much of a man .
Well said. From a Muslim in the UK, I think these are some of the universal rules for all men.
Whats Islam got to do with being a man?
@@LiftOffLife I think being a man can have slightly different meanings in different cultures. But his comment is an affirmation that this video is universally well-defined.

Self-taught man here. Still learning at 30. Fathers, there are loads of stressful responsibilities that fall on you specifically. Don’t coward out. Push through the tough times, your sons and daughters will developed appropriately!
you're doing a great job with this channel. I definitely agree relationships should be #1.
Thanks John Corcoran. That means a ton coming from you! I've learned a lot about networking and relationships from you and The Smart Business Revolution!
keep doing your thing boss, you’re truly helping a lot of people
1. Relationship with the Universe, Creation, The Supreme Being (which ever term you prefer) is the only one that counts, unless one was foolish enough to bring children into this world
Physical strength increases brain power
I’m a 34 year old man with 3 kids that I share with my woman of 13 years. I feel so lost in life and this video will definitely help me.
Hope you're doing better. Ask God for wisdom, as the Bible says He'll give it to you
Cool!
Add Self Respect. Hold yourself to a higher standard in everything you do. Others will do the same.
Falls within #7, Self Mastery. Adopting a philosophy that helps one to pursue excellence in all things. The Stoics called it Arete.
Most will stand around an watch you. If you ask why their not working they give you your doing it for us.
+Wes Winsor Law PLLC: Wes Winsor thanks a ton! I appreciate your support! How was the John Wayne movie?
I'm taking note from your videos. I want to get fit to help my 50 y/o father with the manly skills he taught me. Also, leadership is a hard thing to learn, especially when you rise as a leader between a bunch of passive people that are just waiting to take advantage of those who are stronger enough to take the first step.
Latinos here want to learn to be a real man, in order to survive in our ever-poor shithole countries.

You are getting these from hundreds of people by now, I know.. And from all the people you should get it by now..
These videos are great. I am quite enjoying your videos, and I do notice that you put alot of work and thought into them. Keep this up and I sure you, that you'll achieve much. Take care, you've earned yourself a new subscriber! *Blows confetti*
+John Diaz Thanks, I really appreciate your words of encouragement and support!
seen this video a couple times and I like how you not only give examples but share some your experiences as well. thank you so much.
Sir
I watched this video with great interest and found it very informative.
Thank you.
Read word for word and I must say this is very well said, I entirely agree
I wish more countries had some form of mandatory service.
The measure of a man is not how tough he can be, but how gentle.
👏
Torally and utterly agree with you. The one mistake men do is let their ego over ride their logic of thought. I see it time and time again. Sometimes toxic friends can be a major bad influence. Strike them out of your life for they'll drag you down if you let them. Great advice though.
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours and I want to say: great job on this video man! It’s sharp, to the point and I think the points you’ve talked about definitely are important for being a man. I especially liked the recap on the end. Great video, I am going to subscribe.
That video was dope 💯
Interesting list. Not one mention of any sort of creative outlet...nothing in terms of music, art, cooking or gardening...Other than that, the rest is pretty spot on.
Excellent video. I'm glad you touched on things like physical fitness and the ever so crucial style and appearance.
Thanks *****! Any other topics you'd like me to cover?
Order of Man teenagers becoming men. Art of Manliness is great but is somewhat lacking in that area. That can be used to your advantage
I touch every point a bit but I call myself as a normal young man .....I am still learning and I am thankful for this mind-opening Video
Thanks Mate💪🏻
Our society needs more man like you 💪🏻✌🏻
compassion, honesty and bravery also...
Marcus Warren They are all attributes that create a great man, but this video more so discusses the skill sets and not the traits. What you said is still very true.
I would say that compassion and honesty fall into the relationships skill set and bravery in the physically fit skill set.
Marcus Warren those go with self-mastery
Jart988 yes, and i think he shud have put that as no. 1. although all seem interconnected.
Thanks for sharing this. As I was watching this, two things came to my mind:
1. Men need to learn to acknowledge other men who are striving to better themselves and stop hating. I'm disgusted when men talk trash about another man just because they don't "like" him. You can't dislike a person you don't know. Respect the hustle and go get yours.
2. Money is the most important goal to strive for because with more money we have more time, which means we can not only learn all of these skills but also be of better use to our loved ones and the world around us.
it was very helpful and yeah i think im going to work and develop these skills, thank you!
wish you more success in your channel
Thanks +GamePlaysQ8! Let me know how it all goes as you work on these skills!
This is a man of God. Don’t know him. But I can just tell he is.
Being a man of "God" really doesnt mean much.
@@mx500a4 you believe in a small god.
Very good video. Useful for me and to teach my kids. THank you!
What an awesome video, boys are not taught this anymore, we need to start teaching our sons these skills. Excellent!
I totally agree with your list. I think everything on your list goes for everyone; not just men.
I'm not a man, but most of what your list are things I have been working on as well. Great job with the video.
Its a video directed towards man so he talks to mans but if you think you can use some of his advice feel free to do so. Its just like those channels women have were they talk about how to develop friendship, succeed in life etc most of those things anyone can apply, but its tough in a language and environment directed to women. ;)
Also some of the things he said can only be applied to man: like the duty to protect the family which is the equivalent of women having more skills for nursing babies than man.
I'd pick courage/confidence and dignity over #8 Style and Fashion any day of the week.
Or add it as a #9 because style and fashion is pretty important as well.
Turco949 rn
How is courage a skill set?
sahil jain How is fashion a skill? It's completely subjective.
Courage does need to be practiced. It comes from consistently putting yourself into situations where you must rise to the occasion
one of the best channels on youtube!
Thank you.
This perfectly sums up the 8 skills every woman should master.
Thank you for collecting these!
Before watching this I had been getting way behind on my checkbook and was becoming more and more afraid of facing the problem and grinding through it. I am now getting it done.
It seems growing a beard should be one from all these channels I’ve come across so far
I believe that defensive skills should be added to the list. Every man has the responsibility to protect himself and those he loves, and needs the skills to fulfill that responsibility when called upon to do so.
Absolutely!

Well, i think those are things any human being needs to "master" not only man, i'll be proud if my girl has all this virtues.
Yep.
If men and women are different then they have different ways to develop success and improve their lives...
I am convinced that there are many similarities but also many differences between men and women.
Yes indeed.

Fantastic Video! Thank you for all the great insight mate.
You're right 100% bro I got to cut out the smut
The objective tone you hold in stating what you believe to be concrete fact is a feat of speech and communication.👍
Very good... But you missed important point " honesty"
Kind of falls within #7. Self mastery is adopting a philosophy that strives toward greatness, be virtuous, learning how to control your thoughts, thinking before acting, etc. In fact, I would argue this is the most important of all the points in the video.
I think he remembered: Powerful Relationships cannot happen outside honesty.
I like how this video speaks to me. This seems attainable yet challenging which interest me in doing it irl.
Everyone’s definition of “ success” can be different
Great job on the list. Completely spot on. I just found your channel yesterday through Real Men Real Style and I love it. I'm having a great time watching your current videos and I look forward to many more in the future. Thanks for all you do.

By taking a lead, I fail every time
Humility, patience and not pride, but being proud of yourself, your career, your family, your space and of your accomplishments.
Unfortunately most men today have no idea they need this!🤦♂️
lets not get started on females being ladies then aye
Man if this ain't facts
The Tools and Handyman stuff is what got me. I realized I know more about housekeeping and home making than I know about changing oil in a car... Interesting.
I agree with this video except for the first rule that you deem makes you a man. It truly makes me look at you skeptically! Every time I've ever had a man explain to me that no man ever got anywhere without having a team it's usually that guy that exploits his team rather than help build them up like they built him up.
Not a bad list but here are some that were missed..not in any particular order:
1) learn to cook some basic healthy meals
2) how to make a bed
3) how to iron/mend clothes
4) how to treat a partner with respect
5) reading books
6) how to be/stay organized
7) how to be humble
Real men follow the word of Jesus Christ the son of God, our saviour.
What a great video - I had to pause mid-vid and get my dad's old tools from the basement and then he and I fixed the doorhandle to my door that's been loose for like 2 years, in just 20 minutes!
(I also agree heavily on working out leading to improvements all over life.)
Great advice.
+SAMUEL JOHNSON thanks man!
I like how you are to the point. No beating around the bush.
Great list!
+Broderick Camel Thanks!
I am a youth and i think i got most of them. The ones I don’t have I’m working to get em.Thanks for the motivation!
Thank you for making this video, as a teenage trans guy I rlly need these kinds of videos to help me grow into a man! Thank you!
Great advice Ryan. Thanks for creating this platform. Peace and success to you.
I realised me and my brother have less of those than my mom(and our dad has less than both of us)
I guess mom is my new paternal figure...
gingercore69 why don't you finally move out of your parents basement
Carry on.
Thanks for making this video...Great job!
