I will be purchasing one, maybe two as soon as they become available!!! This looks like it solves the issue we’ve always had with drop clutches in the past. One, can’t adjust the sizzle, two, the hats were always too open when in the engaged position!!! This takes care of both!!! Simply genius Tama!!! Just when I think, what could they possibly do to make any new products??? Then last year comes the direct drive pedal we’ve all been waiting for, this year the matching hi-hat stand, and so many other goodies I can’t wait to get my grubby little hands on!!!
Got one of these yesterday. In my opinion it's the best piece of drum technology to come out in the last 20 years. Certainly worth the $. It's also helped me cut down on an extra set of hihats that I needed but was having trouble fitting into my setup. Nice one Tama!
Ohhhh ok! When this video got started, I was like "uhhhh, its a drop clutch, whats the big deal?". THEN I saw what this thing actually does, and now? I have to have this. 😳
BBEDrummerAK yes! It’s replacing their Cobra Clutch. So instead of a big clunky pedal that no one wants to haul around to a gig, they came up with this at a third of the cost! I saw this video and immediately sold my Cobra Clutch, only to find out this want be available until June!!! WTH???
@@drumfanatik316 oh no!! Haha I have one of those Cobra Clutches, actually, and yeah its super cumbersome. It has its own case for crying out loud! Haha
I just picked this up today and about an hour into playing i am digging it. I can go from a funky filled Jazz filled to Double Bass Deathgrind Madness in just a flick of a switch. The best part is the fine adjustments you can make on your top hat.
@ThoughtCrime It's a demo and I'm sure there a million young and enthusiastic tama artists that wouldve been happy to shred up this product for a demo video.
ThoughtCrime for it being a demo, I’d expect a drummer that seems enthusiastic about demonstrating a Tama product. Not just seemingly going through the motions like “meh.”
is it weird that i want the exact opposite; a hihat stand that with stay closed with my foot off of it while i play double bass (closed hihat + double bass)
I had a Gibraltar Drop-Clutch for almost twenty years, until my hardware was recently stolen. I'm ordering a new one. Solid gear and reasonably priced.
@@vaughnmiller4371 IDK about greedy, this is a specialty item. Most people don't use something like this, so they have low volume, so they are expensive. Then the price keeps most people from picking it up so it stays expensive. This is the catch 22 with percussion hardware manufacturers. Everyone needs cymbal stands, so they can be relatively fair priced, but not all the cool shit we want on our kits.
Unfortunately no, it will go as tight as the other drop clutches on the market. It is, however, perfect if you want a slightly open hi-hat during long double bass parts. Hope this helped!
i DO HAVE A Better designed one I made it myself .Years ago it is indestructible, Will last a lifetime and Much cheaper to produce and Simpler will never Fail :)
Hello...My old Tama hi- hat stand has an adjustable screw on the bottom hi- hat seat that tilts the bottom cymbal which does the same thing. That is how you adjust the sizzle.
How durable is it? I noticed the cost on ebay is wacked at about $60 + 40 for shipping!! If I'm breaking it every 3 to 6 months thats $200 to 400 a year !!!! good price would be $20 shipped!
Wasn't it Premier or Ludwig or someone ELSE who had this idea at least thirty to forty or so years ago? Not exactly mind blowing, Tama. Jeez, 'F' for originality.
But where is their version now? Nowhere to be found. Tama makes it accessible instead of it being some sort of vintage collection that costs five times than it need be.
For double pedal work like that you do not need to drop clutch... That's just being lazy. I can understand someone playing in a metal band needing one for artistic purposes, but if you're that good to be in a metal band you shouldn't even need it.
The hi-hat was the focus. You can clearly see that there is only one mic and that is for capturing the hi-hat. Even if they did mike the whole kit, they would have to put the hi-hat to the front so much in the mix, it wouldn't make much sense.
Tama is starting to get my attention lately over my love of DW 9000 & 5000 series pedals and stands.(That's all I own!!) I play GRETSCH maple shells W/ Remo heads on a Ludwig 14" X 5" "Acrolite" snare drum and EVANS Hydraulic Reds on all of my 8 total Tom-Toms and Floor Toms and 2 Bass drums! I am sick and tired of DWS' total lack of ANY professional QUALITY MANUALS for anything that they sell. Every manual is a generic versionof MANY VERSIONS !!!, and that's all you get for buying their VERY BEST.......their FLAGSHIP line?????? Goodbye DW..........HELLO TAMA !!!!!!!!
The product innovation of Tama is one of the main reasons I’ve been unshakable in my dedication Ito them for 27 years now.🤘
Pearl has been making this for years hardly call it inovation
Wish this existed 10 years ago. Drop clutches to date have been like an on and off switch. Thank you Tama
Now thats a really fine feature!

Does it allow for a very very tight sound? i.e. the sound you make when you press on the hi hat pedal fully
@@PeterLe61 You can adjust it to close however tight you like
Is it just me or is this clutch really noises when you in-gage and dis in-gage!?? I mean it clicks really loud!!
So far this drop clutch is pretty badass. Never owned an adjustable drop clutch

this guys thinks in everything!! thats why i love tama!!
Thank God, I've been using a closet door spring between my hats to do this with conventional clutches for like 5 years! I gotta try this thing.
Tama is the bomb !
They couldn’t have had a less enthusiastic drummer demoing it? Dude looks like he’s half asleep
And he doesn't even need it based off the really slow double kick beat he's playing lol

Tama steppin up the double pedal game.
Can you use the clutch to turn down the guitarist?
That model's comkn' out this year 😂
Luv the rockin intro soundtrack.very cool.
I've had one of these for the past 25 years. This is not new. But, for those who don't have one...enjoy.
name the one you have had with the adjustable sizzle option for 25 years?
Can I achieve the sound of tight close hihat in drop
position ? My right leg can't move. I can only use my left leg to play the drum.
What kind of hi hat stand is being used
Reading a lot of the comments it’s clear that many of you have a complete misunderstanding of what this thing does.
I like these hi hats, I just can't see which byzances' they are...
I see this could be good for those like me who are escpecially picky about the sizzleness of the hihat in all situations.
Do these work with Roland hi hats?
I never really got what these are for, ? Is it to play double bass with a closed hat ? If so why not get a an x-hat auxiliary
Because an auxillary hi hat set up costs 200+ for cymbals and extra hardware? And a drop clutch might cost you 15?
@@Killenmachine05 Yes. And the aux hihat also takes space from my already overcrowded cymbal setup.
Cause then u have to buy another whole ass set of hats
does this work with the remote hihat stand
This looks like it works much better than the Pearl drop clutch

Definitely Lars Ulrich on recent HARVESTER OF SORROW live performances 👍🏽

Tama has that also, search for it. I can't remember the name.
So this things been on pre-order for 9 months, I could've made my own by now.
AWESOME
Now I still don’t like the top not having a felt

This thing is $55. I understand the features but this is way overpriced
It seems like just about everyone in business is greedy. And it's going to get worse. Buy it while you can...

Yeah, at that price you might as well just buy another set of hihats.
@@andrewwang7902 well this is different than any other drop clutch because you can adjust the gap easily.

Pretty cool but it seems like too much of a risk trying to hit it in the right place
if you have any accuracy in your drumming you can hit that easily

Lazy. I can make my hi hat sizzle just fine.

You can't control the hi hat and play double bass at the same time tho. This is why extreme metal drummers have two pairs of hi hats
