Thanks for this video. I went on holiday to America and took my switch as I wanted to try it out on the plane for the first time and like you I couldn’t play because I had no internet. I thought it’s because nearly my while library is digital. Now I know what to do thanks! Even if I want to play it on the train I know how. Will try this later today 👍

There’s also an error that happened to my splatoon 2 game even with internet. So, I was just adding and removing some users I don't need and what I need. And then I was going to go on splatoon 2 and then that "checking if the software can be played..." thing shows up and instead of no internet, it says, "Software not playable" but what made that error show up? So please see if you can fix that error.

So this is my first switch and i dont have my account made on nintendo website and i cant log in mario kart 8. First few times i could play without any problems.
Other time it asked me to log in to the internet to play. This time i connected to wifi but it keeps saying: "checking whether this software can be played" and it keeps on going and never loading, i tried this multiple times but it doesnt work, what should i do?

Hi, I know it's been a year since you posted this video, but I was wondering if you know a solution for this problem when your new switch is already registered as a primary console?
I registered my new OLED console but I still keep getting this message and it STILL won't let me play my games offline.
I would try to de-register and re-register again

This is gonna help for other people. Unfortunately my old switch stopped working and won’t turn on ever since I got my oled😢. Doesn’t make sense why you can’t play offline on the switch, supposed to be one of the biggest strengths of this console.

the issue I am having is that i have my main on my oled but I'm trying to let my mom play on her old switch but keeps acting like that switch is needing to Cheak if able to play still even though I thought its move on my oled and on different email so am I missing something why it keep wanting to Cheak this ?

Ok, so when I got my replacement Switch I set it up as the new and only Switch. The set up asked me if was going to continue using my old Switch and I said no.
This screen still pops up. And my old Switch is dead. What can be done?
Edit nvm: I saw another comment that had the answer.
Here it is for others who may miss it:
Go to Nintendo online pc or smart phone
Sign in
Select shop menu
Select deregister primary console
Enter your password
Select deregister
Then sign into the e-shop on your new Switch.
Don’t know why they even bother asking during the setup if this is your new console or not if it literally does nothing to change that setting.

Thanks so much for the help. My 1st Switch's SD card was acting up so I transferred my data to my other Switch but that message kept on popping up. Now I'll sell my other Switch (without the broken SD card.)

This is the current backup and download status of your save data. For more information, go to the HOME Menu, highlight your software and select Options, and then select Save Data Cloud.
When I do this it says it's backed up. So then, am I okay to sell my old Switch & it won't mess up my save data when I delete my account on it?
@@jbzhummerh2gamer yes, but I would double check your games that they have the most current save on your new switch and then I would reset you old one to factory setting before you sell.
I still use my account on my old switch for some games, will Deregistering it keep me from playing them even when connected to the internet?
no you will still be able to play your games on the other switch when its connected to the internet
So I have a issue. I sold my old switch and got the new oled. The old switch I never deactivated it but I restored it to factory settings before I sold it. So my question is do I deregister my oled then register it again or leave it deregistered? Reason why I'm asking is because without internet I can't access any of my game save data so I can't play any game on the fly because it doesn't upload my saved data for the game I wanna play nor does it allow me to save my data and just play another game. When I had my old switch I never had that issue. Since I've had this oled it's been a headache because of that. Mostthetime I'm on wifi but 2 weeks ago hurricane Ian hit and we lost power for 5 days and that was a pita because I was stuck playing 1 game that entire time and I couldn't shut it down completely. I had to leave it in sleep mode just to be able to continue with my save.
omg thats terrible, hope you and your family are ok from the hurricane. all my family is in Florida and what's where I'm from. I would login to your account on Nintendo.com and de-register your old switch and then after that is done go to the Nintendo shop on your OLED so it will register your new console.

HELP! I never bought a new switch. I’m on my original switch, but haven’t played it in a few months. I updated software and I’m getting this error as well, but I go to the settings as instructed and it says I’m not on the primary console. How does that make sense? I don’t have another console. What if you only have 1 Switch and you get this issue? I don't have a second Switch console and it frustrates me that it does this every time I want to play a digitally downloaded game. For the longest time though I didn't have this issue but now all of a sudden as of last week I started getting it. This means I have to pull out my phone and make it a mobile hotspot when there's no Wi-Fi around me until I pass this internet based check and then I quickly turn it off after and play as normal. It's weird, I hate it.

yes you can do this by going to Nintendo.com and login to de-register the switch you don't have anymore.

Is there any way I can change the non primary switch into the primary switch only using the non primary switch. My older switch(the primary one) broke a while ago and I do not have access to it and was hoping to find a way, if any to change that
yeah you can do that by logging into your Nintendo account online to switch the primary

Wait following these steps my main switch is my primary but when we had no internet we got the 404 message when trying to play mario kart or any other downloaded game, the only game that worked for us was the disk inserted one
try to de-register and re-register your switch again
