The Most Overlooked Part Of Posture Correction

  • To fix your posture once and for all you need to correct up to 12 different aspects of poor posture. The most overlooked posture issue is restriction of the joints at the front of the chest-in the breastbone (the sternomanubrial joint), and the joints between the collar bones & sternum (the sternoclavicular joint). These joints can seize up in a pressed in, concave position, making it harder to straighten up into good posture. (Have you ever felt your sternum crack? This is one of the joints that can become restricted due to a slumped, rounded position with your shoulders forward.) So, here’s how to correct this area to help fix poor posture (and sternomenubrial pain).
This is just one of a dozen things you need to do to correct poor posture and the related symptoms that tend to go with bad posture.

"Occasionally in your repetitions, reach down to stroke your pet cat in order to maintain your optimum blood pressure. There is no upper limit on repetitions of this particular exercise."
😊 Loved seeing your kee-cat getting his due at the end of the video.
Do you have any recommendations for maintaining good posture during driving? I usually actually get compliments on my posture, but once I'm behind the wheel, I inevitably slump. It've got my seat back comfortably vertical; something about having hands reached forward encourages a slouch.

Try sitting in a similar position to this video, but in your car, using the car head rest.
      ruclips.net/video/cEYRgHvdUak/видео.html
Driving in my car I rest my head against the headrest, upright like this office chair video, and it feels great. (It was actually the inspiration to get an office chair with a headrest to do the same.)

I really appreciate this one ...I find it's the remembering to do these exercises that's difficult.....I only remember to do them when I notice my posture is bad .....or someone mentions my posture ..I guess 30 years of bad posture takes a while to correct

Yeah, takes a bit of dedication and prioritising, for sure

Anyone notice their breastbone cracks occasionally? A sure sign it's restricted.

Thank you! I need this sooooo much. Even compromised my breathing with my constant slumping. Why didn't I notice these things years ago?
Also, your little cat inspector is adorable as always 😍

Brilliant video! Thank you. Great muscle and skeleton drawings to accompany clear, understandable mechanisms. I particularly love the low rep recommendations and the warning about overdoing it, especially when starting. Always good advice, but particularly in people who have locked up joints. Baby steps, consistency, and perseverance!
    Your rib flexibility is inspiring!

This is a great video-- I think we tend to get in to a slouch with out realizing it. I am absolutely going to follow these excercises.

3:40 This is exactly the spots I get pain after waking up. I prop a tennis ball slightly to the right of spine so it's not on the bone against a wall, and move up and down. Exercise does help but it's frustrating the pain randomly comes back😅
