For 9 months and a dozen medical specialist, no doctor could determine my health issue since February 2022. They say its GERD but don't know the cause. I have sudden attacks of tightness in the chest where i can't breath, numbness in the arms and legs, cold chills and clammy hands...i first heard about the vagus nerve 3 months ago and what it does. When i asked a few doctors I'd they had considered checking it, they laughed at me...i did my own research and found methods to heal or stimulate you VN. My attacks are less frequent and i feel 80%better. I can digest food better now than i have been able to. Thank you for this video!

@@customerservice8320That's really strange because I thought I did....Well, here goes: Basically because of the years of acid reflux, The stomach was beyond repair so I had to change my diet to a healthy one. I had to get to the root cause....diet was aggravating it but it wasn't the answer. No doctor ever checked the status of my teeth...based on a last minute hunch, I went to a dentist and he had discovered a massive infection in one side of my jaw/Tooth but it never presented any pain to me other than occasional aches. He performed surgery and opened my gums where a tooth had been removed 8 years prior that left a hole leading into my sinus cavity. Once he cleaned it all out, some of it caked on my jaw bone, I went home to rest up. 3 days later, all the pains I had in my back, neck and back of my head ceased. My body temp felt normal and the numbness in my arms and legs went away. My blood Pressure dropped to normal as well. My stomach stopped becoming bloated and my acid reflux was 90% better. My energy increased. Amazing what an infection can do and how it can cause inflammation throughout your organs. The hypothalamus and vagus nerve were affected as well...If all else fails. Check for somewhere in your body like your teeth that may present an infection.

For 4 years I have had Fodmap Intolerance/IBS accompanied by very bad stress and insomnia. My GP mentioned the Vagus Nerve and yoga but didn't give any advice, she said I had a hyper sensitive digestive system & prescribed antidepressants which I couldn't tolerate. I started to investigate the Vagus Nerve & started exercises & use a tens machine with ear clips on my ears. Within a week I could sing again, in tune ... I'm finding my stress levels are less, I suspect my digestive system will take time... but I'm keeping at it. Great video explaining how it works.

I consider this nerve, as a guardian angel for us. It makes its own alert signal when we feel a stressful emotion. If then we simply focus our whole attention on the Vagus nerve, and relax it with so many simple tools we have, we discharge our body from heavy emotional loads. Thank you so much for this wonderful presentation. I work with my students a lot on this topic. Hopefully, more and more people will find out that we have this nerve, so, so precious, inside of us.

25 years ago, I accidentally gave one of my clients a vagal syncope while applying a technique for the Longus Colli & Longus Cervicis muscles. To do so, one gently displaces the aorta toward the other side, and reaches for those muscles (this is a technique for people who suffer from injuries such as a whiplash). The incident happened while working on the right side of the patient. Had I know the different paths the two sides take, nothing would have happened (she was out for about 10 seconds and was fine afterward). All this to say "thank you" for clarifying this for me. With intense PT and OT I am recovering well, walking etc. It effected every system in my body, all in various stages of recovery. What has effected my quality of life is nausea. I have thought the vagus nerve had something to do with these symptoms especially the constant nausea.

Great video. SUGGESTION though. It would be really cool if in addition to this one, i would be really cool if you were able to slap the deep cervical fascia on there complete with a carotid sheath and the other deep, medium and superficial layers of fascia so one can see how big the space if around the vagus nerve.. Mine actually gets compressed and tensioned in my neck due to extreme postural issues. Considering the course of the vagus nerve its a pretty cramped up space and the vagus wraps in front of C1 and C2 so if those are misaligned of have instability or extreme forward head posture, the nerve doesn't have much Leigh way.. This area has not been researched much how the neck structure affects the vagus nerve and it can easily be injured just by the tension on it. It has nothing to do with how deep the nerve is, its how cramped the space is in some peoples necks. I've been dealing with vagus nerve damage at the jugular foramen because i have extreme hyper lordosis of my cervical spine! 6 months now, and I've been trying to heal it with low intensity ultrasound. The vagus nerve regenerates poorly is the sad part. i have to fix my forward head with ZERO degree traction Because angled traction only pulled my neck more forward. Im trying to get companies to make devices for my neck to fix it even my hunchback of 76 degrees.. Hopefully you can add in the video about how its possible for the vagus nerve to get compressed or tensioned in the neck. I would sure like to show my drs and prove to them about such an unheard of thing. Because they didnt agree it could be my vagus nerve. Theres way more ways people damage their vagus nerve than just what doctors tell ya or websites. The things that can ARE. 1. mold exposure (neurotoxin) 2.diabetes 3. Stress hormone which is also a neurotoxin 4. Car accident 5. Neck problems especially that are extremely uncommon like mine and need more research. 6. any neurotoxin can damage Any nerve, 7. Not getting enough hydration can damage nerves in general. THERE are so many ways to damage the vagus nerve and my dumb doctor only mentioned 3 ways!!!

Does the left vagus run with the left carotid artery or with the left subclavian artery before reaching the aorta?
