Please I woke up with pain all down my sides after doing these exercises last night... What does that mean... Please help me.. I went to a physiotherapist and explained I'm waking up with pain down my sides But they just pull faces....
I haven't had the side pain for ages but after doing a heap of these exercises 2 leaning back when rotating shoulders out I've woken up this morning with bad pains on both sides..
It hurts.. why would the shoulder blade exercises affect my sides...
Please I just need help with this so I know where to look for help

I’m 3 years late but I hope you guys see this. I have been to orthopedist, chiropractor, gotten massages, done physical therapy and nothing has worked for years. Once I get these 2 simples stretches down and was doing them correctly my pain has literally completely vanished. It felt like a sack of pain in my shoulder blade that would never go away. Once I learned to use these muscles together in these stretches all my pain went away. Absolutely insane and i’m so thankful

Does anyone know why I would wake up in pain down my sides after doing mostly the sitting back on heels / arms exercises.. ( no. 2 .) . .
Also after I did them I had pain in the front under the color bone area..
Why would it cause pain down both sides of my back by the time I woke up in the morning...
I know it's not necessarily the exercise.. but whatever my injury is ; is not good for me to do this when I thought it was..
      Can someone please guide me..

Coming back here to say… thank you so much man. These exercises are gold, and as I did 10 reps of 2nd exercise, my impingement pain was 90% gone already. I had a minor impingement but local physios didn’t tell me the lower traps correction and so I was worried.
I learnt engaging my lower traps and serratus, and now I’m conscious of that throughout my workout too.
Fast forward today, I have been progressing smoothly and hitting new weights on my compound lifts. These exercises are a gem and I can’t emphasise it enough.
For the gym goers, the thing is that we focus on the big flashy muscles and that leads to imbalance. Imbalances between the big muscles and the smaller stabiliser muscles. I’d say focus more on body weight too like pushups and pullups/inverted rows, these are safer for the average joe. That’s my personal opinion tho. Cheers !

    • @yorkiepit
      @yorkiepit Год назад +3

I was in the same boat.
Before I found this video, I found a book about hanging from a pull up bar and that also worked wonders, as it creates space in the shoulder.
That book is "Shoulder Pain? The Solution & Prevention, Revised & Expanded" by John M. Kirsch M.D., who is an orthopedic surgeon.
Between the exercises in this Body Fix Exercises video and the hanging, my shoulder pain has almost entirely disappeared, though the tear damage itself will probably never heal.
The position of bar hanging moves the damaged muscles safely behind the shoulder joint. You can do full or partial bodyweight, do 10 minutes of 15 to 30 seconds of hanging with a break in between. I use a workout timer app and use it to efficiently time this.
Bar hanging pulls the bones and creates space. It will reverse the incorrect bone shape and positioning that has occurred, over time, the bones will regain the shape that they had when we were much younger.
As soon as you're done bar hanging, that is the time to perform the exercises in this video and any other shoulder workout you wish to perform, because even when you're just starting with the hanging, it will create some temporary relief and you can do these exercises with less pressure on the injured muscles.
This video is great, the bar hanging is great, the exercises my physical therapist gave me weren't so great, it was through RUclips that I found out about bar hanging therapy and also the Body Fix Exercises routine.

I had a similar experience when I first did these exercises. I believe it's because the Lower Traps and Serratus Anterior can become underactive and unused. It's as if the brain forgets it should be using these muscles but then these exercises force you to use these muscles. The brain then goes "Oh yeah, I forgot about those muscles" and starts using them again. (Similar to "sleepy glutes") I had a 50% improvement within 5 days. The other 50% took 2-3 months because the muscles had to be strengthened and that takes time. So keep going!

After repair of ruptured Pec major, 8 mos ago, I’ve struggled to regain forward flexion (hand straight over head). Lots of PT, hundreds of hours of exercises and a couple steroid injections later brought me to this video. While only a couple days into the routine, I’m finally experiencing gain in ROM that I believe will be sustained and hopefully without bringing back shoulder pain! Perhaps more than anything it finally helped me identify how my movement was modified and really only “hinging” in the shoulder joint itself.

There's so much you can do. Make sure you do 3 things for shoulders:
Strengthen Serratus Anterior, Lower Traps, and Rotator cuff with these 3 exercises... (Updated video with extra exercise) ruclips.net/video/9JN6dTBAyIU/видео.html

I should add... only do these exercises in the PAIN FREE range of motion. If it hurts your shoulder when your shoulder is in the overhead position in either of these exercises, don't go that far. It should improve with time but always keep in the pain-free movement range.

Great video, Just ordered Massage Gun after watching your other video.
I have shoulder impingement, I can’t raise my left arm above shoulder height but when I use broom stick as support, I can achieve nearly full arm stretch over my head, but when I remove the broom stick support I’m unable to hold the vertical position, my arm collapses to shoulder height with pain.
I’m able to do 2nd and 3rd exercises you suggest but not the first one. Can you suggest any other exercises I can do to strengthen the shoulder muscles involved in overhead arm raise ? Thanks.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm a PTA myself and recently I started having pain in my shoulder after years of not taking proper care of myself and putting patients/work first at the expense of my health. I'm very well aware of the mechanics of the shoulder and serratus anterior exercises one of my favorite for scapular stabilization. However, I really started noticing improvement when I started the other exercise for the lower traps. These exercises and someone else's video have helped me get rid of most of my pain and my painful arc in just a couple weeks. Thank you for the education and reminder that everything is connected and we cannot treat one part without addressing another.

Thanks Rebecca. Yeah, it's essentially the same exercise, but it can be used as prevention and a fix so I thought I'd put it in there again as plenty will not have seen the other video. I actually designed the exercise. There's usually an initial improvement as the muscles are activated and start to work again. Then there is a second, slower improvement as the muscles strengthen. So stick with it! It's my fave.

Wow!! This exercise is amazing! Almost a year after the initial rotato cuff injury, my shoulder started to have far more problems like limiting the range of motion, giving nagging pain during a sleep, causing sharp pain with casual arm movements. I didn't do much to rehabilitate the shoulder during the healing because it always hurt as i moved it. Now i started swimming and it's been helping with the range of motion but not with the impingement. So I tried this exercise and even the first rep gives real tight senstiion inower trapezius. In 3 reps it's burning. After 10 reps it is on Fire!! Only on the side of the shoulder with impingement. Never even felt this part of muscle in the back before. I'm going to continue this with swimming to fix my shoulder!

After 2 frozen shoulders, protruding scapula, then rotator cuff pinch I’ll try this. I’ve known for years I have some scoliosis. My sister had it bad, had a rod put in when she was little. Helped my rotator cuff by passive hanging then got that other frozen shoulder. Thank heavens it wasn’t as bad as the first but now I never really got my full range of motion back. I used to have one arm I could scratch my back but can’t now. It’s still unfreezing. It takes forever but it’s not possible to hang unless I do it one armed and hanging on even w hook grips is lessened. I’m going to try these for that scapula. Thanks. Cats 😅

They are for that higher area and exercise 2 will stretch your scalenes too.
Also try massaging the muscles right UNDER your collar bone. Rub under your collar bone, or use a tennis ball to press in tender spots in that area. The pec major attaches in that spot and can affect the scalenes and ribs. I'll be doing a video on that area (related to AC joint pain) in a few weeks time. Hope that helps.
