      @@AshyView24 I mean, cameras are an important aspect of smartphones, but yeah they do talk about it way too much. If people were buying phones just for the best cameras, then I'd just advice people to buy a cheap DSLR instead. A good camera is good, but I'd take a better processor or a higher-refresh-rate over a minuscule improvement in the camera department. You'll mostly be viewing the photos and videos on your phone anyway, and you'd probably only notice a difference in a direct comparison or if the cameras just suck.

    I actually don't think the camera is bad at all. I mainly needed to get away from Samsung's selfie camera and the odd photo processing they do, and I find OnePlus's camera more pleasing, even if the photos aren't as detailed. Maybe I'm just a weirdo, though. If I want to take good photos, I'll use my S10 main camera if I need to, and until I trade it in on the next S series device. I love OnePlus because this phone has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The screen is amazing. The software is just customizable enough that I feel free, but not overwhelmed. Noticing lots of little nuances in Android 11 on this phone. Aquamarines is a beautiful color. I'm very happy I went forward with this purchase!

    I'm getting worried about Oxygen OS' direction. While most UI's are going for stock Android experience, 1+ is going the opposite direction. Only time will tell if this decision by 1+ will backfire or not....

      It's... different I have a OnePlus 8T and in many ways it actually feels CLOSER to stock android but with a little bit of oxygen OS flair to it it's hard to explain but I don't feel like it's moving too much in the other direction I guess they just wanted a change since android hasn't changed too much since android 9 I guess. I'm not trying to defend OnePlus but it's just kind of an observation/opinion

    • @gordongore4
      @gordongore4 4 года назад +12

      Honestly, OxygenOS 11 still feels like stock Android. Yes, there are some design changes here and there - especially with stock apps. But honestly, the icons and homescreen are still the same, and the rest of the UI has simply had a font change and a colour/tone change. After 1-2 days of use, you hardly notice the change. My opinion ofc.

    Just paid off my Note 9 an I think I'm going with this phone. Samsung isn't wowing me much anymore. N the price difference is a big deal. If my Note 9 was 5g I'd keep using that for another 2 years. 640G of storage with SD, 4000mah, android 10, one ui 2.5, n there is no glitches on my Note. Thanks for this review, you convinced me to buy the 7T instead from B&H for $350.

    • @kiddcisco
      @kiddcisco 3 года назад

      Interesting, I opted for the 8T on the 2 purchase deal in Canada with another person for end cost of 636.50. I strongly considered the 7T from B&H , a open box 10/10 for 295 US plus tax and duties but the camera would have been orse than my current phone a P30 Pro, where as the 8T camera is equal and still behind in zoom after I checked comparisons on DXOMark. There was worthwhile savings getting the 7T but it also has a smaller battery and 90hz so I opted for the 8T 12gb and 256 because that's all they had available for order prior to the 9 coming out next week. Hope you have been happy w the 7T. I was very on the fence to even wait and see what a 9 Nord would be like but I already feel the camera will be lacking for me and that's important

    • @mesonto
      @mesonto 3 года назад

      @@kiddcisco yes I also discounted the Nord. But the 7T has worked for me very well, I didn't care at all about the refresh rate, and I find the camera pretty darn good. So far the battery last about 1.5 days for me. I don't play games at all though, and if I did I would have liked the increased screen refresh rate and extra battery reserve.
      To be fair the B&H deal was just too darn good to pass up.

    Currently own the OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 8 Pro. I don't really notice a difference in performance for day to day tasks. Thinking about selling the 7T and 8Pro and keeping my good old 7 Pro. I hate notches even the little hole punch one. Since performance wise there's not much of a difference between phones and OnePlus seems to cling to the idea of keeping the horrific hole punch, I'm skipping the upgrade and clinging to my reliable notch free 7 Pro. And yes, the 8Pro as well as the 8t have 5G capabilities but as of now, 5G is nothing more than a gimmick with little coverage. May be next year when 5G really kicks in I'll consider an upgrade.

    The benefit of this review is that it talks about the phone in a vaccuum, without so much being a comparison against other phones. I love MKBHD's review of it, but it ends up being just a comparison with other phones, which makes it sound as though the 8T's camera is total garbage. In reality it is actually pretty good, there's just better stuff out there.
    If a bangin' great camera and wireless charging aren't your priority, but instead value the hyperfast charging instead, then the 8T is definitely for you. (Just like it is for me.)
