I know it’s your money and your life, but you spent a lot of money, that iPad better be worth and make sure you use it till it no longer receives updates which is around 7-8 years
Got my 13" Black Pro today (base model). Love it!!!! The screen is incredible. The lighter weight helps a Bunch. I wish they would put this OLED in the Mini !
It's light. It's bright. However, it's still a tablet, not a MacBook Pro. I've never used an iPad as a camera. My iPad Air 4 and iPad Mini 6 still does 100% of what an iPad Pro would do.
I’m completely with you on that “Dex like” option on an iPad!!! I have never used a MacBook to its fully potential. For me, I used a MacBook for content consumption, a little bit of word processing type stuff, web surfing, and very light video editing. In all honesty, I have no laptop that I use daily. My lone computing device is a 2018 12.9 inch IPad Pro. If I had the option of hooking it up to a bigger monitor without it mirroring the iPad display, I’d have no need to upgrade until it no longer supports the latest OS.
It's a BEAUTIFUL RANT. I listened to it because i feel the same way. Yes, all companies held feature to add in the future products. I use both Apple and Samsung.
I've been looking for the perfect digital illustration tool as long as I've been a professional designer. I was seduced by the amazing Quantel Paintbox back in the day, but wasn't able to buy one as it costed literally a million. Since then I bought an array of computers, mostly Mac's, high rez screens and a variety of input devices, Wacom's, but later year also tablet and pens. The iPad together with software like Procreate and Fresco getting me closer to my goal of the perfect drawing tool. Recently bought the 11 inch version of the IPad Pro M4 with a matte screen protector to mimic the feel of drawing on paper and the Pencil Pro. Have I reached the ultimate goal? Well - all I can say is, with the recent purchase I don't blame the tool anymore only my own capabilities.
I’d want the 13” w a keyboard so like.. $1700 or something?? Crazy. The iPad Air 13” got more appealing after specing out on Apples site. Gimped display but whatever. Save like $500
I actually bought my first iPad Pro. Got the 11 inch base. Loving it so far. I agree with you, if they can have MacOS on iPad, that would make me want to buy the entire set up.
I mostly use my iPad Pro 12.9" 3rd gen for going on property walks with clients. I take notes and photos which I later use for my rendering and proposal packages. The only thing that has been real inconvenient is the camera. I have to stand so far back to get what I need into the photo. I hadn't purchased the M1 or M2 because I wasn't ready, so I've been waiting for the new. Behold, it finally came out and they removed the wide angle camera. So now I am looking to purchase the M2 version. Btw, love your videos!! Thank you.
I’m curious to see if Microsoft or Apple will be the first to create a streamlined tablet/PC workflow on one device. I have a surface, iPad, and Mac each serving a unique purpose.
Yay may favorite reviewer is here. I wonder why I was not seeing Everyday Dad in my suggestions of iPad reviews. Only to realized I have not subscribed yet. Haha
If apple “blinks first” everyone follows exactly like that charger removal but apple does anything to separate the iPad experience from the Mac experience
I went to the Apple store today to check out the new iPad Airs. I really wanted to check out the 13" vs 11". I don't really have use for the iPad pros. The 13" iPad pro is way out of my reach and the 11" seams too small. However the 13" Air seams to be perfect for me. I'm going to discuss it with my wife tonight and probably order the 13" iPad Air. If there wasn't much difference between the 13" iPad air and the 11", I was gonna just go with the iPad. However I feel the size is worth the money difference.
I agree with you. As it stands, the ipad M4 doesn't have much use between a phone and a macbook. Personally, I will not get one cause it can be damaged so easily. Paying 2000$ for a piece of gear which can bend if you accidentally sit on it, not interested. I prefer to wait and get a macbook M4 max, much more durable.
I've been waiting for the reviews to start coming in. I love my iPads! I still have my very first one, that has been used be a bunch of my grandchildren! I have had all the pro models and currently have a 2020 pro (with the Magic Keyboard, which is expensive, but worth every penny in my mind), which still works perfectly. I also had a 12.9" pro for awhile, but ended up returning it because it seemed too big. I might try it again. Let's do some testing!
I'm never buying another ipad as a Samsung user, but I love your videos! Tablets are great, but I still prefer a desktop or laptop. 😊 Great review as always.
I love to backpack too! Maybe I’ll catch you on the trail sometime. Nice review, as always. But I LOVE my MacBook Pro and I’ll never replace it with an iPad only.
I'm interested in what people think of the screen, mostly in comparison to the M2 12.9", which I have. There is a bit of blooming, but the HDR ratings are the same between the two, though the M4 has a higher SDR (1000 vs 600). The M2 version already has a great screen so I'm wondering if it's worlds better on the M4, which is the only reason I see to upgrade since the performance is already ludicrous with the M2.
If anyone wants an easy answer...if you have a pro or air from the last 3-4 years dont even consider upgrading. There is almost zero differences. The screens from the old ones look almost the same minus a tiny bit of brightness. The chip doesnt matter, M1 and M2 for the ipad are still insanly overpowered. If you are in the market for a first time buy or an upgrade from 4+ years (m1 pro doesnt count) and you have extra cash...buy this one. Otherwise just get the M2 Air for 400 bucks cheaper. Also when you hear how "thin" this M4 is. If you take the 11 vs any other 11, its ALMOST the same. It's not really noticeable. You want a small ipad? get a mini.
So I am in the same boat as you. I think that we are almost in the spot where the vast majority of things can be done on a tablet (iPad especially) But there is something missing... I feel that there need to be somewhat more specialized apps that could really take advantage of the hardware inside of the tablets. For instance I think that there could be apps that have a "desktop like version" for the moments when you really want to work....so maybe a IDE for software development with all features from a MAC/Windows machine....or the video editing apps that could have 99% of the features from the Mac/Windows version, but repackaged for iPad OS.
Thank you so much for this excellent video. The new iPad Pro is a beautifully luxurious device showcasing the best currently possible iPad. Only the new M4 chip can drive this extremely unique and forward-looking display. Only the M4 is so efficient that the size of the battery and the weight of the device could further be reduced while keeping the standard of 10 hours of running time. Other Apple devices to be released soon will each use a unique combination of the strengths of the M4 chip and its variants (A18, M3 Pro, M3 Max, M4 Ultra). The various OSs will continue to evolve and users will always push for more. Fantastic! One question: Is 265GB enough? I do not want to hoard media files on my iPad. But, I do want enough space to occasionally take along a Final Cut Pro project for editing 4K RUclips videos. I would appreciate your advice. Thanks for producing this excellent content!
Isn't the nano texture similar to matte? If so just buy an actual matte screen protector (significantly cheaper than this nano texture marketing bullshit) and save that money spent on the nano texture (and extra storage if you don't need 1/2TB to begin with) on something else
So I don’t have an iPad but I’m thinking of getting the 11” iPad Pro since the display looks amazing and it’s the latest and greatest out. Thoughts guys?
I've had the 11 and have the 12.9 and I miss the portability of the smaller one. I only traded it for the 12.9 because I wanted the better screen, but that isn't an issue any more so the 11 is a solid choice.
Would be great if you made a video focusing on the screen. Apple made such big of a deal with the Tandem OLED, a video comparison to the LCD pro, and the MiniLED of the other iPad Pro. Blacks, color, HDR, brightness, outdoors etc… same for speakers (since this iPad is thinner). As of M4, would be great to compare it to the amazing M1 Pro MacBook Pro (this is the one most people have) There you go, 2 video ideas for you 😂
I completely understand your excitement but what’s the difference besides being minimally slimmer and the front camera to a 2021 M1 iPad Pro in practise?
@@matt_kelly Coming from a 12.9 pro to a 13 pro there is a noticeably brighter better quality display, a few minor software enhancements and faster processing speeds. The keyboard and pencil are also improved. In addition there is a weight difference but I don’t really notice it. Whether that merits a change only you can decide? Useless power? I think so! These type of iPads should have macOS installed and not iPadOS to fully benefit from the power put into them… This is why I’m looking at a Surface Pro 10 instead of an iPad as it’s a complete OS on a tablet…
I am still determining the rant. You imply it should be like DeX, yet it is via Stage Manager. You can use that window view like a Chromebook as well! Am I missing something? Doesn't the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra still run Android in DeX as the iPad Pro still runs iPad OS in Stage Manager? If the Ultra ran Windows, then you had a point. But it doesn't, and Samsung does exactly the same as Apple; they took Linux support away from their Tab S line to avoid competing against themselves, which is the Apple philosophy and the smartest business model. Interestingly, an ex-CEO of MS interviewed and said it would be madness if Apple put macOS on iPads, adding that MS made one of their biggest mistakes when they tried the same hybrid business model (W8). It was an utter failure, damaging their rep, losing billions and making MS a nobody in the tablet market. I suspect Apple knows what it should and should not do to sustain its business. Knowing MS's complete disaster, it is sensible not to follow the Titanic into the iceberg. People who make the same claim that MacOS should be on iPads are likely misinformed and should probably see it from a wider perspective. It is a zero-sum game for Apple with no upside but risks that could cause significant failures. Ask LG about change for change's sake just because random people on YT wanted this or that!
